Finding dependable, clean and safe rest areas is not easy. This is a Tennessee Welcome Center with staff assisting travelers up front. Easy access off the highway divides the cars in rear and trucks up front. The building is in good condition, but older. The grounds were well maintained. The restrooms are the priority for most travelers. Make a hard right down the hall. I found the men's room clean with proper supplies. There are two entry points that divide the room, so it's really two men's room connected. The equipment is older, but everything functional. I saw no vending in the building, or by the car area. So I assume there is one, but I did not see it. There is grassy areas which are great to walk pets. I do not recall shelters. My visit was during a weekday morning. I would consider the area safe to make a stop. However, usual precautions should always take place of locking the car when in the building and being aware of surroundings. Recommend!

The first rest stop you will see once you enter Tennessee from West Virginia! My best friend and I was doing a road trip and decided to stop here to take a photo of the Tennessee sign. We didn't get a chance to go inside to the visitor's center as it was closed but we did get a chance to use the restroom and it was nice and clean. Tons of parking available for cars. I like how the trucks and cars have their own route to enter. The rest stops are designed to provide travelers with a Safe and convenient facility to rest and use the bathroom, also grab a bite to eat, without feeling as if you are not safe. My best friend and I felt very safe here and would recommend stopping if you are doing a long highway drive and need a safe place to stop.

After an exhausting drive, this Motel 6 in Bristol, VA was exactly what I needed -- clean,…read morecomfortable, and staffed by genuinely kind people. When I arrived, I saw signs indicating no truck or RV/trailer parking. I tow a 16-foot camper with my Subaru Outback XT, so I parked temporarily and went inside to ask since I had already booked online. Sherri at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. She explained that while they need all their parking spaces and can't allow camper parking in the main lot, there's an empty lot just one street over that guests sometimes use. It's covered by their cameras, and local law enforcement is aware of it. After a long day on the road, that reassurance was everything. The room was spotless -- truly immaculate. My dogs and I were very comfortable. The room had a microwave and fridge, and the deep bathtub was a huge bonus. I took a long, much-needed bath and finally felt human again. The location is super convenient -- close to Walmart and lots of food options. Olive Garden, Chili's, fast food spots, and I personally went to Golden Corral, which was very close. The lobby was clean and welcoming, especially considering they were just thawing out from a recent freeze. You could tell the staff was working hard all day. What really stood out, though, was the front desk staff. Excellent customer service, yes -- but more than that, they were just kind people. After an arduous drive, this place felt safe, calm, and honestly like home, even if just for one night. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Clean, well laid out rooms. There are 3 floors, so there's quite a distance from your car to your…read moreroom. There's just one elevator, so it's somewhat slow. The lighting is a little strange. The free Wi-Fi is excellent and easy to use. The location is close to the highway and restaurants and stores. Staff is friendly and helpful.
