After an exhausting drive, this Motel 6 in Bristol, VA was exactly what I needed -- clean, comfortable, and staffed by genuinely kind people. When I arrived, I saw signs indicating no truck or RV/trailer parking. I tow a 16-foot camper with my Subaru Outback XT, so I parked temporarily and went inside to ask since I had already booked online. Sherri at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. She explained that while they need all their parking spaces and can't allow camper parking in the main lot, there's an empty lot just one street over that guests sometimes use. It's covered by their cameras, and local law enforcement is aware of it. After a long day on the road, that reassurance was everything. The room was spotless -- truly immaculate. My dogs and I were very comfortable. The room had a microwave and fridge, and the deep bathtub was a huge bonus. I took a long, much-needed bath and finally felt human again. The location is super convenient -- close to Walmart and lots of food options. Olive Garden, Chili's, fast food spots, and I personally went to Golden Corral, which was very close. The lobby was clean and welcoming, especially considering they were just thawing out from a recent freeze. You could tell the staff was working hard all day. What really stood out, though, was the front desk staff. Excellent customer service, yes -- but more than that, they were just kind people. After an arduous drive, this place felt safe, calm, and honestly like home, even if just for one night. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it. read more

Clean, well laid out rooms. There are 3 floors, so there's quite a distance from your car to your room. There's just one elevator, so it's somewhat slow. The lighting is a little strange. The free Wi-Fi is excellent and easy to use. The location is close to the highway and restaurants and stores. Staff is friendly and helpful. read more

My wife and I travel with our dogs, and we pass through this area every year or so. We always stay at this hotel. It's relatively cheap, it's pet friendly, and the people who work there have always been very nice. What it is: It a clean hotel with decent sized rooms, and a comfortable bed. It's a travel stop that is located very close to the highway, to Walmart/Sam's Club, and to other restaurants or convenience stores. What it's not: It not a high class hotel or establishment. It was never advertised as being such, even though people in other reviews seem to think it should be. It does exactly what it advertises. It provides a clean, affordable, and comfortable place to spend a night or two while you are traveling. We stay here often, and I would confidently recommend it to others. read more

The first floor and the lobby smells like an ashtray. I have computer monitors that are bigger than the TV . The door to our room had an inch and a half gap that you could see through from the outside. We stayed here last year and had a great experience, this year is a complete 180. First stop on our road trip! We chose this spot because I had a free hotel room from using the hotels.com app! The average your room totals and give you a free night. We wanted to be close to State St. It's only Like 4/5 miles. The lobby is small but clean. Super small elevator. 2nd floor has an ice machine. There are 3 vending machines. Was a lil perturbed that the AC was off in the room. It s in the mid-high 80s y'all. It's got all the things. USB charging ports, Wi-Fi, cable (obviously). There's restaurants close by. There are many other options of places to stay also. I will add to this in the morning after my stay is over. Here's the update. The flat ass pillows provided no comfort or support. The bed was uncomfortable and hard. At about 9ish an employee used a key and tried to access our room. . When I got up and got to the door they had ran to the stairwell and disappeared. I called the front desk obviously upset. This isn't ok ever. The front desk manager apologized and said it was his mistake. It would have been a lil less bothersome if they had stayed and apologized. Yes you saw correct. I am giving a Motel 6 a 5 star review because I had an excellent experience. The room was extremely clean, the service staff were extremely nice, and I greatly enjoyed my stay. Everything that I would want in a hotel this hotel provided. The beds were comfortable, the shower was refreshing, though it was a little weird fitting in the bathroom. I have never had a bathroom that was shaped like this one was. Other than that, I feel like I would stay here again in a moments notice. Very cheap and great quality. Pet friendly with no additional fee required, or at least they did not charge me for my 2 cats. Just make sure to check your pets in when staying. I stayed here overnight on Nov 25, 2020, just while passing through. Bristol's a lovely, upscale, safe, little town, so if you're doing the same & want a rest, stop in Bristol. The town has everything, including banks, Walmart, fast food, hotels... all within a 30-second to 2-min drive. There are some cute eateries, but during Covid, I'm unsure if they're operating. Overall, I've stayed at no less than 3 Marriott hotels during this passed week, for $30-40 more per night, that were equal to or less stellar than M6. So, it's basic, but not bad for overnight or a couple of days. Pros: * $66 price, including taxes. * Older bldg, but all new wooden flooring throughout. * Comfy mattress, better than most M6's. For some reason, I was given an ADA room... shower with the detachable sprayer was very nice. * Fridge, m/w, large king room with 2 chairs at the desktop & a club chair. * TV has 1 HBO, all the cable news channels & TWC... rest are local. * Central a/c-heat is quiet, works great & there's an option to keep it on so the off-on-off settings don't keep waking you, if you're s light sleeper like me. Cons: * Lobby, entire 1st floor & even elevator absolutely wreak of smoke... I could taste it through my Covid mask. I was told all the smoking rooms are on one side of the 1st floor, but well, smoke travels. Stay on any other floor, cuz even the hallways on the upper floor smell of old, stale smoke... fortunately, my room didn't. * Front desk agent was very nice, fast to check me in. Despite the mandatory mask sign on the door, he never wore one, although he was behind plexiglass. * Extremely insufficient lighting. Dark, dim, few lights & it didn't help that one was burned out. Outlets are also few & far between. Just 2, 1 of which didn't work. Light switches are out of code & work backwards... all of them flip down for on & up for off... very strange, shoddy workmanship. Good to Know: * This is 1 of the M6's where you must come though the front door only. You can't drive up to your room door. As an FYI, if you are disabled in any way, you might find it cumbersome to carry belongings from your car with the steep incline into the parking lot. Of course handicapped spaces are closer to the door, but you still have to traverse the incline. 3.5* out of 5. -.5* for smoke smell & lack of lighting & outlets. I'd stay again if passing through, mainly for the low cost. read more

Inside room access, friendly staff. The rooms had modern decor, laminate floors, nice bedding, flat screen tv. Apparently, they are trying to attract a younger crowd. Pet-friendly, too. Smoking rooms available. Close to IHOP (yay!). The only qualm is the price. With my wife and son, it cost us $80+ for the night. A bit more than I wanted to pay for a Motel 6. Don't hesitate to stop at this place if you can afford it. read more

PET FRIENDLY!!! We were traveling cross country with our cat and were looking for a safe and comfortable place to rest before heading out in the morning. Picked this place based on the reviews and loved our stay. Trena at the front desk was so wonderful answering our questions and getting us a room where we could keep an eye on our car. We checked into the 4th floor or 5th can't remember, but it's the top floor for people traveling with pets which is totally genius. The layout of the corridors is great if you have a cat/dog that makes a run for it. My cat make a small jail break when I opened the door, but I caught him in the corridors before he managed to hide anywhere. The layout of the bed is also pet friendly , because there are no hiding places underneath the bed. It's hard to explain, but it's like the bed sits on a block therefore eliminating any hiding places which is great as you will not need to corrale your cat or dog! The hotel... sorry motel really does feel like a hotel let me tell you why! The room layout, bed, furniture and bathroom were immaculate. Had a small problem with the fire alarm battery running low so there was a constant beeping and the thermostat battery was also on the fritz, Tad fixed the issue right away. For less than $50 a night this place was a bargain. I wish all Motel 6 were set up this way. We wanted to stay a couple more days, especially with the morning rain, but only stayed the night. read more

I was charged a pet fee at the Bristol, VA Motel 6 at check-in for this stay, even though their policy says pets stay free. They had a sign at the front desk saying "Pets must be declared at check-in or you will be charged for them." When I told them I was traveling with 2 dogs, they said the 2nd dog would be charged $10.00 and it was their "policy." I'm looking for hotel chains with a consistent "policy" about pets: i.e., LaQuinta, RedRoof, Kimpton, etc. and am reluctant to book another stay at Motel 6 because I do not like unexpected charges. To determine if Motel 6 truly honors its "2 pets stay free policy," I requested a refund of the extra $10.00 charge. The Motel 6 website states "pets stay free" at Motel 6 but there is $10.00 at Studio 6. "Service Animals and well-behaved pets are permitted (maximum 2 pets per room) unless they pose a health or safety risk or are prohibited by law... If your pet or Service Animal does not comply with any of the above guidelines, you may be asked to vacate the property with or without a refund. Service animals and well-behaved pets stay free ($10.00 per day pet fee to a maximum of $75.00 per stay at Studio 6 locations except for service animals who are always welcome at no charge)." IF THESE GUYS IN BRISTOL TRY TO CHARGE YOU FOR YOUR 2ND PET AT CHECK-IN, GIVE THEM A COPY OF THEIR OFFICIAL POLICY (it's under the "We are pet friendly" tab at https://www.motel6.com/en/faq.html) AND IF THEY STILL TRY TO CHARGE YOU AN EXTRA CHARGE, THEN CALL MOTEL 6 GUEST RELATIONS AT (800) 899-9841 RIGHT THEN & THERE TO COMPLAIN. This hotel, other than charging extra when they shouldn't, was just OK. Be aware, they have NO BREAKFAST which makes the deal not that good, comparatively speaking. Also, there was no carpet on floor and my dogs like a carpeted room as they lie on the floor. The room was chilly 56 degrees when I checked in and it took several hours to warm up to 69-70 degrees! Extremely clean! People were cleaning downstairs, it smelled so clean in the room in the lobby. Coffee was hot and very fresh in the morning. Sheets were clean, towels were clean. The TV was gray worked fine! We had a pet and there was absolutely no odor from previous pets that had stayed there. The elevator worked great! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our sink in the bathroom got clocked a little bit but nothing to get excited about. Overall, I would not only stay there again and again but I would recommend this to anybody that's coming to this town. It was extremely quiet and quaint. Hubby and I stayed here a little over a week ago on a stopover on our way to visit our son in Tennessee and were quite happy with our accommodations. The desk clerk who checked us in was very friendly and we absolutely loved the central location of the motel itself, just off the expressway. Hubby and I had our golden retriever with us and our room was quite spacious, only drawback was the hardwood floors (although we totally understand the reasoning) as our dog seemed to have some issues walking across the "slippery to canines" walkway. Loved all the modern touches to the room, especially the raised sink and the area around the motel offered ample room to walk our dog to do his business. Although there are no blow dryers readily available in each room the front desk happily supplied one to us for our overnight visit at no charge. There are lots of restaurants and stores in the immediate area and is just off the exit, making for super easy access for us to get back on our way the next morning. The only issue we had was how firm and uncomfortable the mattresses were and that the smoke detector on the wall of our room was missing the batteries (back and batteries were both missing) but the fact that the rooms that allow smoking in the motel were only accessible thru glass doors more than made up for it - we would absolutely stay here again. read more

Probably one of the best Motel 6's I've ever stayed at. It was clean and comfortable. The management was more than pleasant.

Our stay here was nice. We checked in very late we were on the road a long time because of inclimimate weather. The surrounding area went from in the 50's and 60's to in the 30's. The room was cold when we got here and we could not get thermostat to go change from cool to heat, the next morning the front desk lady fixed it and offered us blankets. She apologized for a cold room the night before. She then checked up on us every day to make sure the room is warm enough. Room was clean and quiet! The house keeping staff asked if we need more towels ever day or if we needed anything else. Very kind staff here! This is our second time staying here with our family and dog. We love the fact that the room has a mini fridge and microwave. We will make this our hotel of choice when we come to Bristol. read more

Drove 6 hours to Bristol with four kids and four adults. We booked three rooms prior to our stay and we called to let them know of a late check in and they assured us our rooms would be waiting. When we arrived, they had given one of our rooms away and didn't seem at all concerned that we were short a room. The bathrooms had only two towels, we were not able to get any extra. Zero shampoo, no soap and the hair of guests before us in the bathtub. I didn't expect much from Motel 6, we picked this one mainly because of its proximity to the interstate, but this experience sucked. Keep driving. If I could leave zero stars, I would. read more

My only complaints, we were sharing a room with our two kids, there were only 2 towels and 2 wash cloths, second complaint was the fact there was no coffee maker in room and there wasn't any made downstairs, and last the vending machines were empty of drinks. read more

Great hotel for the price. Right off the highway, recently renovated 3 story hotel. Rooms with two queen beds are $65 even on a Saturday night. Bathroom is clean with a corner size shower. There are no amenities so plan on bringing your own shampoo, blow dryer, etc. This hotel was very quiet the night we stayed here on out way home from Arkansas to Connecticut Oct 2016. We skipped the coffee in the lobby and went to Starbucks around the corner on our way out. We will definitely try to stay here again if we find ourselves in the area. read more

There's nothing modern about popcorn ceilings! With that said, the guy at check in counter was pleasant and quick. My request for a room away from the elevator was honored. The room was relatively clean but housekeeping could pay more attention to detail (lint in corners, a/c vent dirty, sticky tv remote, fridge was a bit dirty). There's a fridge and microwave and 2 bars of soap. But that's about it. Not even a clock! The tv remote was generic and didn't work very well. It was a hot day and I understand energy efficiency but they could at least turn on the air in the rooms that have assigned reservations. My thermostat didn't allow me to adjust temp. I could turn it on or off. The hotel is dog friendly without weight restrictions and extra fees. There's a nice dog park nearby. There's restaurants and gas nearby. I'd stay again for a night as I'm passing through with my dog but I definitely wouldn't book here for an extended stay. read more

My only gripe would be, after the first pet, that they charge a $10 fee for each additional pet you bring.... not enough of a reason to take away any stars though. I cannot express the deep and heartfelt gratitude enough for this hotels amazing staff! Yes, our stay there was quite comfortable, and it's certainly, by far, the nicest Motel 6 we may have ever seen, let alone stayed in.... but upon leaving the morning after said stay, our sweet cat made a run for the woods and was not to be found. We notified the front desk, and he had a tag with my number on it, and live 3 hours away...... since having sweet puddy since he was a tiny palm full, we've known him to be very adventurous and nocturnal. We just knew he wouldn't come back til nightfall, but had strict pressing matters we had to deal with at home. We left with saddness, but sure enough, a call came in from a friendly lady with 2 dogs staying at the motel. She found him whilst out for a trot with the pups, and brought him to the front desk. The extremely kind and generous night clerk offered to take him home and hold him til we could scoop him up in the morning. However....sweet kitty escaped him as well. Tonight, another very kind lady rang me up. Though, she was extremely allergic, she still wanted to help and offered to buy him food, and litter/box for absolutely nothing in return. I'm floored with unbelievable, and humbled gratitude. The night clerk tonight went above and beyond the call of duty for our furry baby, and really I just want everyone who thinks of staying there; yes! Absolutely. Hands down. Stupendous. Magnanimous. Stopped here during a road trip to Tennessee. Clean rooms, quiet area, and recently renovated. Adjacent to 81, Walmart, Golden Corral, and various other stores/restaurants. The room was mostly bare bones but that's all we needed: flat screen TV, fridge, towels, and toiletries. You get coffee in the morning (no breakfast). Definitely not the "pay by the hour" kind of place. More like "upscale youth European" motel. Would recommend for travelers. read more

Love it. No frills, clean, spacious, internet, clean, non-smoking floors. It was no problem for me to bring my cat. Plenty of room lighting, individual thermostats, desk area, small refrigerator and microwave and best of all--a clean, well-lighted bathroom with a tub that was invitingly large and clean. At the front desk, Casey checked us in, very polite and personable. Stephen took over later and answered any questions I had. I am going to put this on my list of places to stay in my travels!!!
