Great place for a post-Creeper trail beer and a burger. Huge plus, Maine Lunch on tap!!…read more I wish it had been a little warmer so we could sit on the awesome deck and eat by the river. We will definitely be back.

Atmosphere is nice with the river and overflow dam nearby that if you're next to a window you can see. Atmosphere overall is ok. Nice tables and chairs; outlay of the table is ok, nothing special. The sun blinds most people in the early evening at the restaurant. They have blinds. I think Damascus Old Mill is a solid 4 stars for all of their amenities, service, and food quality and quantity. Charles was our waiter and he said as 5 stars. I watch other wait staff and they ranged from average 3 to 4 stars. Some didn't know the alcohol menu as much as I'd want a server to know it. We had burger, sirloin and ribeye. All were good and everyone was satisfied with their selection and the food. I was disappointed in their ribeye. Good cut, but was undercooked for my medium request. The cut was ok and I didn't think it was as tender as I'd expected from a 21 day aged meat. It was ok. I would casually recommend it, especially for $50 for a ribeye. Desserts...absolutely delicious! I need to try them all. Overall, Damascus Old Mill restaurant is a recommend. I'd skip the ribeye and go their burger frankly. Ribeye is it all that for their price point.

My wife and I stayed a the River Garden Bed and Breakfast for one night in August. The facility is…read moreawesome-- the location right next to the river was simply beautiful and relaxing. Paula was our hostess and she was wonderful. She greeted us upon arrival, gave us a quick but thorough tour, offered us cold drinks, and let us be. She cooked a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We were staying for only one night but wish we had more time to enjoy the inn and surroundings. We thought the inn was a GREAT value for the money. We would have spent more at a standard hotel by the highway. The inn was way more relaxing, quiet and peaceful than our other options. The inn was very well decorated and did not have too many throw pillows! Our deck looked out over the river and we feel asleep listening to the river. We did not realize that there were other guests at the inn. We had all the peace and quiet we needed. I highly recommend talking to Paula about the best way to get to the inn. We planned to arrive before dark but we fell behind schedule. We relied on our smart phones but lost service coming in along some very rural roads from the north. It was a fun but crazy nighttime drive along the N. Fork River Road until we found the inn. I should have printed out a map! The inn has WiFi and was in range for our Verizon phone service. The inn has a big man cave, music room, hot tub, and lots of other amenities that we plan to enjoy when we return.

A Disappointment. We've stayed at many bed & breakfasts and…read morethis was the first time we were disappointed with our choice. The pictures on the website were obviously old, probably when they first opened. When we noticed the For-Sale sign at the entrance I started to have my doubts. Apparently, the owners turned their home into the B&B about 15 years ago and may have made some alterations at that time but it can use some current upgrading. Our shower was smaller than an old phone booth and would not be comfortable for anyone bigger than an average teenager. There were rules for using the tub and shower I guess due to plumbing issues and when I went to plug in my phone charger by our bed there was an extension cord with other things plugged in and the lamp flickered. The owners/ innkeepers were too involved in conversations and at times somewhat rude and condescending. Our first morning breakfast with no other guests at the table was good but when I asked for decaf coffee I was looked at as if I was some-kind of an alien and told how people who drink decaf never finish their coffee and don't understand why they drink decaf. Well I have a serious allergy to caffeine but I guess that was irrelevant. Our second day breakfast was also good and thankfully there were other guests which limited the innkeeper's involvement in conversation. It was also the first time we were not given a room key which was strange. The positives are that it was a convenient location close to town and the grounds were nice with a nice porch and yard. Bottom line after reading some of the previous reviews I should have paid more attention to the bad reviews. This is not a place we would return.

Our boutique inn, which is a Virginia Green Lodging inn, offers personalized service and luxurious accommodations and creates a wonderfully inviting alternative to typical hotel lodging. Though most of the furnishings are English or American antiques, there is a compelling mix of periods. Many of the pieces are museum-worthy: An Eighteenth-Century Norwegian upholstered chair and a Nineteenth Century Biedermeier secretary share space with Picasso lithographs and Russian Iconistry. The collection spans centuries and countries of origin yet reflects a consistent refined aesthetic.
