The house has been owned by the same family for decades, and their care of it shows. The bathrooms are small, but when you consider the rooms were never intended to have them, they did well. There are only 4 rooms, so there's never a crowd. The breakfast was wonderful. Lighter fare, in 2 courses. The first fresh fruit, with a Swedish cream or a fresh lime sorbet. The second was an egg soufflé with fresh vegetables one day, with rolls and apple butter bread. The second, a bread pudding with great sides. Their rates are very comparable to other B&B's and hotels in the area.

We left feeling like we had a new friend in Abingdon.

The accommodations are about a 500 foot walk from the Virginia Creeper Trail. The rooms are quaint with large tile showers, comfortable beds and cable TV. Plenty of closet space and all the amenities you would expect of a bed and breakfast. Again, Cindy could not have been a more lovely host. Very affordable. We plan to book this inn anytime we come back to visit Abingdon.

Paula was our hostess and she was wonderful. She greeted us upon arrival, gave us a quick but thorough tour, offered us cold drinks, and let us be. She cooked a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We were staying for only one night but wish we had more time to enjoy the inn and surroundings. We thought the inn was a GREAT value for the money. We would have spent more at a standard hotel by the highway. The inn was way more relaxing, quiet and peaceful than our other options. The inn was very well decorated and did not have too many throw pillows! Our deck looked out over the river and we feel asleep listening to the river. We did not realize that there were other guests at the inn. We had all the peace and quiet we needed. I highly recommend talking to Paula about the best way to get to the inn. We planned to arrive before dark but we fell behind schedule. We relied on our smart phones but lost service coming in along some very rural roads from the north. It was a fun but crazy nighttime drive along the N. Fork River Road until we found the inn. I should have printed out a map! The inn has WiFi and was in range for our Verizon phone service. The inn has a big man cave, music room, hot tub, and lots of other amenities that we plan to enjoy when we return.

If there weren't so many telephone/power poles around the front of the place, photography opportunities would be great. At least the backyard is picturesque. After staying in…read moreprior years in smaller economy rooms, I booked a large room on the second floor with access to a shared balcony for 2 nights. The sound of the waterfall was extremely relaxing and since I was able to open windows it made for a restful sleep. My room was near the noise from the bar but it ended at 9:00. The breakfast in the morning was delicious (fluffy eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fruit, muffins, toast, bagels and mugs of coffee), managed by a wonderfully attentive woman who went table to table to ask if everythi was ok. All of this was accompanied by a beautiful view of the river. Great way to start the day. Dinner of grilled trout, mashed potatoes with garlic and rosemary, and braised heirloom carrots from the new fall menu was lovely. Finally, I enjoyed the mix of people I encountered, from retirees (like me) there to ride the Creeper trail (currently the Damascus to Abingdon portion is open, trail from Whitetop to Damascus open Mar27), to a group planning to hike the Appalachian Trail for 3 days. Lots of adventure to be found in the area. My favorite though was relaxing and painting on the deck by the river. Will definitely be back.

The owners were so kind and helpful - we didn't know what else to do in town, and they pretty much laid out our weekend for us, with great suggestions for a local brewery with a trivia night, great restaurants, and a couple sights to see in town. Also reasonably priced, which is, of course, a plus! Highly recommend - just loved!!! :)
