So, we arrive after 9pm and Barbara meets us as if it were a mid afternoon check in! Happy to see us , full tour of the facilities, helpful tips...you get it - the quintessential perfect host!! The room is ridiculously clean, modern and cozy. The train was a non-issue. Short (5 mins) walk to this charming town's unique biz district full of local artisans and friendly merchants. Been all over the world, Creepers End & the town of Abingdon are small town USA at her best! Highly recommend Creepers End & will be back next fall! read more

Called to make your reservation? I wouldn't count on it. In planning our trip to the Yeti race, Creeper's End Lodging was recommended to us as a place to stay in/near Damascus. The website has wonderful pictures of cottages and looks super inviting. I'm sure the hosts are great, but their reservation system sucks. Their website does not contain an online reservation form--only a standard contact us form and phone number. So not trusting online forms, I called to make my reservation. I spoke a very lovely woman for nearly 30 minutes who took down my name, phone number and email (which she had from the voice message I'd previously left) told me all about the property and about the town, helped me select a rooms for our group, and even promised to send me more information about the property and the town via email later on. She explained that the rooms were reserved for us and was looking forward to welcoming us "all the way from Chicago" in September. That was in January. Now, it's September and there's absolutely no record of our reservation. Lost. Gone. Ghosted. Apparently, phoned-in reservations don't count because when I inquired about our lost reservation citing this 30 minute phone call we had back in January, she responded with the following: "We get so many phone inquiries that we use the online contact form as a back up so we do not overbook. When those aren't filled out we assume that they have found another place or that their plans have changed. After the form is filled out we send a confirmation and we try to touch base closer to time. I am so sorry that we do not have your reservation." Uh. Wait, what? I was suppose to go back online and fill out a form AFTER I talked to a human to make my reservation? Oh, boy... read more

We recently visited Abingdon for the first time this past weekend and really enjoyed our stay at Creeper's End Lodging. Originally, I wanted to book A Tailor's Lodging, intrigued by the Abingdon tourist site's description of the B&B. However, I learned that it was already booked to capacity. The proprietor recommended his sister's business, Creeper's End instead, and that's how we ended up at this colonial style unit. Creeper's isn't quite a B&B because there's no second B. You get the bed but not the breakfast. However, they do offer complimentary snacks and beverages (Cheez-its, pretzels, Coke, etc.). Despite not offering the usual breakfast meal associated with a B&B, Creeper's End left absolutely nothing to be desired. I was so delighted by the spotless, amazingly clean room that we ended up getting. Creeper's End may be one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed at in all my years of traveling. The bathroom was so spic and span I almost hesitated to use it. The owner supposedly went to Williamsburg to bring back some of that colonial touch to her lodging, and she did a great job of it. The various units surrounding a lovely courtyard were built to resemble colonial-era housing. The interiors are beautifully decorated with colonial-inspired furnishings and furniture, though not so thematic that it seemed outdated, stiff, or kitschy. I loved details like the luxurious plush bath towels, definitely high-quality, and the nice Samsung flatscreen installed smack in the middle of the room. The freshness of the linens are also a definitely plus. They also have wi-fi, which had a decent speed for most of our stay. The service is also really prompt and professional. The owners are especially trusting, not requiring a deposit and usually leaving the rooms unlocked for guests! Cash or check is preferred, though... As mentioned in the last review posted, one drawback of staying here is that it's pretty close to the train tracks and you can hear the train like it's sneaking up behind you. Thankfully, the train seemed largely inactive at night...or maybe we're just sound sleepers. In either case, this is definitely something to consider if you want to stay here. However, this is honestly my only complaint, and I don't know whether the proprietor could have purchased a similar area away from the train tracks to do what she wanted (a colonial cluster of houses facing an interior courtyard). Before I forget, Creeper's End is at the end of the Creeper's End Trail (30 miles), a favorite of hikers and bikers, hence the name. If you're the outdoorsy type, I think this may be your best option in the area. Abingdon as a whole is one of the most pleasant cities I visited during my vacation to Southwest Virginia, so if you plan on visiting the Tri-Cities, this might also be a great option. read more

Went to Abingdon for four days to cycle the Virginia Creeper Trail and "putz" around Abingdon whilst there. The cottages appear to be quite new, are in excellent condition and is nicely furnished. We stayed in #5 which is on the top floor of the 2nd lodge. It consists of two separate rooms with a "kitchenette" between the two and a shared bath. Rooms were really top notch, plenty of money spent (tile bathroom, granite counter tops, etc), and the grounds were well maintained with plenty of outdoor sitting area. The only bike shop in town was literally right around the corner from the cottages and the end of the trail was directly across the street. I would not consider the cottages in the heart of downtown Abingdon but it is pretty darn close. Only a few long blocks of a walk (straight uphill). There is no shared sitting rooms or breakfast areas except for the outside seating and the property manager, Barbara, is close by (a house at the end of the property) and is only a phone call away. I think for us: we would have preferred more of a B&B atmosphere where we could ask the proprietor for suggestions on places to eat and entertainment as well as the conversations with other guests. The website does not advertise this which is nice so we knew not to expect it. So I really only have two hesitations with staying here again: (a) we were far enough out of town and away from the eating establishments that we drove most places and (b) I am a light sleeper and the train tracks are right there. Although the trains do not blow a whistle after 10pm when approaching the intersection, they are loud enough, fast enough and long enough to have woken me up for the 3:30 a.m. train and the 4:30 a.m. train. As for recommendations, sure! They are lovely rooms and Barbara is so nice and will go out of her way to make sure you enjoy your stay. I think I would have really enjoyed staying in #3 (though this is even closer to the tracks so who knows. Give them a try if in Abingdon. read more

I'm so glad we found this place. These little cottages are adorable, they have a courtyard and several table, patio areas outside where you can congregate. The room we stayed in was immaculately clean which is hard to find a place like that. The mattresses were incredibly comfortable too. We were able to walk everywhere. Close to bike rentals and restaurants. Owners made our anniversary stay specia!! I would love to stay here again! read more

Have stayed here a couple of times. Service is nice. Close proximity to 128 Pecan. Always clean and quite. Perfect to relax after a hard days work. Coffee pot and small kitchen make it extremely comfortable. I highly recommend it read more
