The entire welcome center was very clean and well maintained. The restrooms were especially clean, which is always one of the most important things I look for at a rest stop. Everything looked like it was being taken care of, and the facility had plenty of space. The staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. It is always nice when a state welcome center actually makes you feel welcomed, and that was definitely the case here. I also really enjoyed the inside of the building. This is more than just a place to stop and use the restroom. There are displays about Tennessee history, including information about the Civil War and Tennessee's role during that time. I enjoyed taking a few minutes to look through the exhibits before we continued our trip. The fireplace, rocking chairs, woodwork, and overall design give the building a comfortable Tennessee feel. There was also plenty of travel and tourism information available for anyone visiting the state or looking for something new to do. Overall, this was an excellent welcome center. Clean restrooms, friendly people, interesting Tennessee history, and a comfortable place to take a break. Definitely worth stopping at when traveling through Tennessee.

Don't expect lavish tours or free coffee and orange juice, it is mostly unstaffed. However, do not let that deter you, it's beautiful with plenty of quiet to rest and take a nap with ample space to walk the dogs. They have a few vending machines and the standard pamphlets promoting Virginia. The bathrooms are always clean and serviceable. I have only had issue one time here and it was only because they just mopped and I slid through the bathroom, though more my clumsiness than anything I'd like to think. The landscaping is very well maintained and quite peaceful if you want to stop and enjoy nature for a bit. On long road trips a little peace can mean making it there in a good mood or a bad. Plenty of space for the dogs to roam around and find a spot and for you to stretch your legs.

Surprisingly, this place was actually a lot cleaner than a lot of other hotels I've stayed at. It was $79 for the queen double room with our AAA discount. We went in and almost everything was up to date. I was impressed at how clean the bathroom was and how new the bed sheets/comforters were. I'm currently sitting in the room, eating the complimentary breakfast which was also pretty good for a $79 stay. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because a few things need to be "fixed" around the room. The air conditioning unit is pretty close to falling out from under the window. It's almost completely separated from the wood frame it's in. The bottom of a few of the lamps are broken, though they work perfectly fine. It's more of just an eye sore. And lastly, the mini refrigerator should be replaced as there is rust starting inside of it. All minor things that didn't take away from the stay as a whole though! I'd recommend this place if you're in the area and need a cheap, comfortable place to stay the night!
