I'm embarrassed for the US thinking a foreign traveler might stop at some of these and judge us as a whole by how bad, dirty, and run down some are. On the other hand, there are rest stops like these that are frankly beautiful places that feel more like a relaxing park and an actual place to rest from the stresses of the road. The restroom and lobby were clean, well kept, well stocked, and did not stink. There was a separate building for snacks and drinks away from the restrooms. I see this more in the Southeast than in Western states. I don't know why. Maybe that keeps the sugary distractions away from kids. Or maybe someone thought we needed to earn our treat after a few extra steps. I don't know, but for some reason I like it. Thank you to the staff who keep this place looking great, clean, and feeling safe.
