This place had very few pump stations and an oddly tight parking lot for cars. It was the only place on our cross-country trip where we had to wait for a pump. Restrooms were dinged up, but clean. Quite limited selection of food--reminded me of what truck stops used to offer 10-15 years ago (e.g., no salads or hard boiled eggs, etc. for healthy road meals/snacks) Has an IHOP and Papa John's attached.

A simple purchase less than $10.. and "something is wrong with the machine..."... she tells my to try the card again... I get a alert from my bank as I do with all my charges.. for fraud protection.. but i get an alert from my bank that there are two charges... so I go back in the store to let them know my card was charged twice. This is where Katie "now the manager" and a fellow "employee" now try to convince me that the charge is pending and "usually falls off" as if they do this on a regular... I have my wife on the phone with me who looks it up & says they are not a pending, they are actual charges... Katie "the manager" still trying to convince & I say "yes pending does fall off.. but these have POSTED... so Katie "now the manager" then gets HIGHLY frustrated that I have caught her SCHEME and just GIVES me my money back... now IF it was pending ... why would she give me back my money so fast??? After spending so much time in the car, it was nice to get out, stretch our legs, use the restroom, and officially feel like we were getting closer to home. The entire welcome center was very clean and well maintained. The restrooms were especially clean, which is always one of the most important things I look for at a rest stop. Everything looked like it was being taken care of, and the facility had plenty of space. The staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. It is always nice when a state welcome center actually makes you feel welcomed, and that was definitely the case here. I also really enjoyed the inside of the building. This is more than just a place to stop and use the restroom. There are displays about Tennessee history, including information about the Civil War and Tennessee's role during that time. I enjoyed taking a few minutes to look through the exhibits before we continued our trip. The fireplace, rocking chairs, woodwork, and overall design give the building a comfortable Tennessee feel. There was also plenty of travel and tourism information available for anyone visiting the state or looking for something new to do. Overall, this was an excellent welcome center. Clean restrooms, friendly people, interesting Tennessee history, and a comfortable place to take a break. Definitely worth stopping at when traveling through Tennessee.
