I went there with my boyfriend and his mother. They have amazing customer service. I made an appointment the day before and we were attended as soon as we arrived. They were very friendly and made sure you were comfortable. I will most def recommended this place. Pedicures at 20$ and manicures $12. I will def come back. read more

The setting definitely not fancy at all. The fire alarm kept going off when I came in. The owners and other customers just ignored it, I'm not sure if they were testing or what. The service was pretty quick. I got a spa pedicure, manicure and eyebrow wax for $58 dollars, and well... You get what you pay for. I got my pedicure done first then when I sat down for my manicure I noticed they had Gellac(even though it is not advertised). The lady who did my pedi didn't know how to apply Gellac. So I had to have another lady do it. After the Gellac I got my eyebrows waxed. The wax was perfect but only an hour after leaving my big toes nail polish had worn off and smudged beyond belief. I had been there easily an hour and a half after my pedicure, and wore open toe sandals but after I got home and switched shoes they were ruined. The Gellac looks really dull and a bit sloppy. A lady I saw in passing had on shellac and commented on mine and thought they had been on for a week or so. #fail I wanted to like this place cause if the price and it being so close to my home. I would definitely return for the $8 eyebrow wax but I don't think I would for nails. read more

I returned to my expensive, yet reliable and very talented manicurist at a DC salon this week and was told that it was likely that they use DENTAL POWDER at Tenley Nails instead of powder gel, because it is less expensive! As my regular manicurist sanded my complete wreck of a manicure from Tenley Nails, she nearly choked from the strong fumes of DENTAL POWDER emitting from my nails. I noticed the scent too and was mortified when she told me that DENTAL POWDER eats away at natural nails and is so incompatible with them that it's no surprise that my manicure from Tenley Nails crumbled within a matter of days. I completely trust my regular manicurist and am positive that she did not tell me this to harm Tenley Nails' business - in fact, she implored me NOT to report Tenley Nails on the basis of what she told me because she was not 100% certain that they use dental powder (though she was pretty sure). All I will say is that anyone who wishes to use the services at Tenley Nails should proceed with much caution!! You get what you pay for ... in this case, you get even less than what you pay for. read more

The spa pedicure is super basic! They rub a few creams on your feet and that is it! When you're done with your pedi, you will still have dead skin on the bottom of your feet as they do the bare minimum! I was also coming in to get a gel full-set and eyebrows. But after my pedi, they sat me under the dryer which was weird because I still had more services to get. The dryer went off after 10 minutes, so I decided to just go back to waiting area. No one said one word to me for a complete 30 minutes, I truly felt like my time was being wasted, one of the technicians went into the back of the salon and just never came back. So after 30 minutes of me contemplating back and fourth if I should leave, I got up and asked them could I pay. The woman had nerve to ask me if I could be so kind to leave a tip. No one said, sorry for the wait, would you like to come back another time due to the wait, or anything in that nature. A true lack of consideration for their customers and their time! Walking to distance from my home, Yes, but I will never be back to this establishment. read more

This place really deserves 4.5 stars, probably the best pedicure for the price I've even gotten. A friendly gentlemen (did not catch his name) did my toes and he was wonderful, really paid attention to detail even though it was very close to their closing time. The decor is nothing special but it is clean and comfortable. I only had to wait for about 7 minutes and you can't beat the great nail job for $20! read more

I needed to get a mani-pedi before my friend's wedding, and the wonderful MD suburbs community manager Mike B. conveniently sent out a newsletter highlighting local salons and Tenley Nails was one of them. I didn't know they existed and they're literally down the street from where I live. I called them up to see what their prices were, and they were compatible to what I was expecting to pay, so I figured I'd give them a try. When I arrived around 5:30pm, I signed in and picked out my nail polish. It's owned by a lovely couple and it seems like they do everything. Within a few minutes I was sitting down for my pedicure with the male owner. My pedicure was great and he massaged my legs really well. I then moved over to get my manicure done by the female owner. My manicure was wonderful, and aside from my natural knack for screwing up manicures in record time, it's held up very well. Generally I probably would've given this place 4 stars, but their customer service is amazing. They're very personable, they try to get to know their clients, and they want to make sure you're comfortable throughout your experience. I was very happy with that aspect of my experience, and I think that's what would make a repeat costumer! read more

This place is right near my apartment, and given all the reviews on here I had to give it a try. As a walk-in on a Saturday morning, I wasn't surprised that I had to wait - but only 10-15 minutes, so it wasn't too bad. The pedicure was great, and included a pretty long leg massage. And the guy doing my pedicure kept making sure he wasn't tickling me. Plus, the staff are friendly, and the prices are great ($20 for a pedicure - not bad at all). I'm sure I'll be back soon! read more

I have been going to Tenley Nails for years. Helen and staff are attentive and get the job done. Periodically I have been to other salons over the years and bottom line, I keep returning to Tenley for excellent service, as well as best deal for the cost. It really is so fantastic what you get for a $20 pedicure. It is a basic set-up- nothing fancy except the super massage recline chairs you sit in while getting the pedicure. I don't need fancy or shiny settings- it is clean, and they are attentive. This is a great place! read more

I live close by but have stopped being a customer at this nail place. The owners give good manis and pedis, but they are generally rude and do not communicate truthfully about wait times and appointments. The place is generally not clean and they play the same awful videos all the time. There is only one other staff person and she is terrible - last time I was there, she did not speak at all, clearly she did not understand what I was asking her to do, and she CUT MY SKIN. The nail clippers were rusty and the loofah sponge was really old. The nail polish selection is old and very limited. Skip this place and go to one that is cleaner and the people are more professional! read more

So I only visited this location because of the excellent reviews. However the technician decided it was appropriate to file my cuticle with the electric filer. Of course I was instantly in excruciating pain and my toe would not stop bleeding. He continued to advise me that I had too much skin and so he had to file it down. Three days later and I am still in pain and unable to wear shoes. I finally went to the doctor today when I realized that my cuticle is completely lifted and was advised that it was infected and prescribed antibiotics. I went back to the location to simply ask for the managers name and the technicians name but of course I never received that. I was instantly made to feel like I was the person at fault. There was no sincerity or concern over what happened to me. I even later realized that they lied to me and the owner was in the shop the entire time which was equally disrespectful but never came to address my issues. The gentleman, Len, only continued to snap pictures of my foot or documents that I was trying to discuss. He continued to advise me that despite what the doctor said, that my cuticle being cut was completely normal and possibly necessary because I had too much skin. He even then tried to state that I was lying about the date that I received service and never apologized after I showed him a receipt noting that date. He eventually stated that while he thought my injuries were minor compared to many others, that they would reimburse me for my co-payment and prescription medicine with a check if I returned to the establishment next week. It was never about the money nor do I believe that they had any intention of paying me anything. The way he was trying to snap pictures of everything let me know they were only concerned about a lawsuit or avoiding one. However their response to me and treatment of me today had such a negative impact on me that I will never return to this establishment. Sometimes a little sincerity, honesty, compassion and concern goes a long way. I am really tired of establishments only caring about your money but not taking accountability for their service, mistakes or their responsibility to you the consumer. This was collectively the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon. read more

It was a great find. I never knew this place was so close to the Metro and hidden away in an apartment complex store front. The service was great, the people are friendly and personable. The shop is clean and they have the service prices posted, so there no surprise charges. It's a relaxing atmosphere. read more

BEST SHOP IN SILVER SPRING. This has been my go-to nail salon for the last 7 years and I will not go anywhere else. Helen, Len, and Tina are OUTSTANDING. Very professional, friendly, and accommodating. The salon is clean and the tools are sterile-they take very good care of their shop and their customers. It's hard to find good service with good prices, but this nail salon offers both. There are no add-ons for services you feel should be included. I'm not sure you can find a better pedicure treatment (scrub, callus removal, massage, hot towel, etc.) in the area for $24! They always do a beautiful job on my nails and if there is something I want them to change or that I do not like.....I tell them! They are happy to change/fix anything you want or need. It'll save you from coming to yelp and bashing their business. I recommend this nail salon to all of my friends, family, and coworkers. read more

I had a shellac manicure and a pedicure 3 weeks ago. At the time I thought it was a bit expensive, especially since I had to pay $4.00 for parking in the garage. But, 3 weeks later my pedicure looks just as good as when I left the salon and the shellac polish is still intact (no chipping or wearing off)! read more

Amazing!! I recently got injured and forced to be in a boot along with crutches and Helen took great care of me! I got a pedi/ shellac mani and I can honestly say that it will last over 3-4 weeks. Great place, the staff is friendly and accommodating but best of all its super clean! You can't get any better then this. read more

I was hoping to make this place my go-to nail salon but after my third visit, I'm still underwhelmed to say the least by the main lady's customer service. My first time here she gave me a bad eyebrow wax job... After that i just decided to only stick to pedicures (which the gentleman does a decent job). My most recent visit, i got a pedicure but broke 2 fingernails. I asked for a gel mani and specified I wanted my nails to be the same length. She was irritated and rushed me to select a gel color. She started filing my nails to shape them before cutting them leaving it super uneven. So again I ask her if she can even them out before filing and she actually says "I don't cut- only shape * waving her nail filer*"So at this point I didn't see why I should waste any more of my time/energy/money into what was an annoying and unpleasant experience with the same lady who possibly is the co-owner of the business. Decided against the manicure and will be looking for a much better salon and it will not be hard to find at all. read more

I just had another great appointment at Tenley Nails! Helen is by far the best person to get your nails absolutely flawless. She and her staff are so nice and professional. They always make sure you're happy before you walk out the door. If you want to make any changes to anything or you need something more, she will not hesitate to make it happen as long as you let her know. Their first priority is making the customer happy! I don't know why anyone would leave any negative comments on here or give less than 5 stars. I always look forward to my nail appointments, my boyfriend started going with me the last few years and we have a great time, laughing and joking and we always leave with smiles on our faces. Everywhere I go for the last 16 years I always gets compliments on my nails, so of course I recommend everyone go to Tenley Nails! They disinfect and sterilize everything, they're always cleaning when I go in if they're not too busy with other customers. I like how they ask you to pay first before they paint your nails so that you don't mess up the polish looking in your purse/wallet. (Note: if your credit card has a chip, they have to add the tip to the total charge because it won't allow them to add a tip after, i think there was a comment about this in a previous review, so that's why they ask about the tip when they charge the card). I would never let anyone else touch my nails. I love Helen and her husband, they are such good, hardworking people and only want every customer to be happy! read more
