Placed the order with GrubHub - Girl from TenderBones just called us and said no ribs, no brisket - and asks do we still want the sides LOL. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Got off the highway looking for a little nosh and a bathroom. This little gem was the first thing we found. A very small place, maybe seating for four people. More geared to take out. All the hype about their philly cheese steak....waited 40 minutes for nothing but mush and tasteless meat. I would not have written a review on Yelp if it was not for the egotistical owner calling me after 9 PM to inquire as to why we didn't like his mush for meat sandwich....I have NEVER spent $37 for 2 cheese steaks and 2 orders of french fries. I tried Tender Bones for the first time yesterday. Everyone where I work has been talking about it, so I had to see, and taste, for myself. Let me start by saying that it was the best Cheesesteak that I have EVER had!!!! It was SO HUGE, and you could tell it wasn't some cheap steak! They put mushrooms, onions, and red and green peppers on it. The flavor is amazing! I will definitely be back for more! My only criticism, if you can call it that, is that it takes a long time to get your order. While Chef Bones says often that "this is not a fast food restaurant", and points to the quality of the food he serves, I think there needs to be a balance. For me, I don't mind waiting, because the food IS REALLY GOOD! But that being said, he could be in danger of losing good customers to the sometimes extreme waits for the food. That's why I say I think he needs balance. I think maybe he needs to hire some help. You have to balance quality with time. If you can hit that sweet spot, you will even be all the more successful! I will STILL recommend this place!!! The food is DEFINITELY worth the wait!!!!!! I just don't want him to lose customers due to long order times. I would recommend calling WAY ahead with your order! I went into the restaurant for the fish but was told that I could only get fish on Fridays. I remember that they have a vegan burger-so I ordered that. Well, Chief has cracked the code on creating the best vegan burger that I have ever eaten and believe me folks I have eaten many. Normally I would just have mustard, onions and relish on my vegan burger but when the Chief came out of the kitchen to explain "how he does it" with the saute peppers and grilled onions-with a hot special sauce. I said let's go for it. This guy take pride in what he produces. I like that. I did not call ahead and had to wait for my food- but once I tasted it- the preparation was time well spent. Hey, I've been waiting for a vegan burger for years that doesn't taste like a defrosted processed puck..so what's fifteen minutes more and to boot get a great tasting vegan burger? First drove 45 minutes to eat here. Went to this place ordered Philly cheesesteak as told we had to wait an hour because the meat and vegetables we're marinating. We settled for the brisket and left. Two weeks later we returned to ordered and PAID for the Philly cheesesteak yet again was told it would take an hour. We decided to order and wait. Went back and hour later and was told we had another 30min wait and still had eight orders ahead of us. (Mind you we drove 45 minutes to get here) We waited and 30 min later it still wasn't ready. My boyfriend ordered 1 order of chicken and waffles and 1 order of Mac and cheese. Waited 1hr and 15 minutes. Finally got his food and was given FIVE orders of chicken and waffles and no Mac and cheese.... the lady at the counter insisted it was his order even after he showed her the receipt for $13 for ONE order. Now we do love free food but I feel bad for the crew of roofers behind him that she probably gave their food away to us. Terrible customer service and those poor guys probably won't be able to eat lunch on their "lunch break." We were really looking forward to the Mac and cheese as well :( read more

Hands down probably the best or tied for best cheesesteak I've had ever! Also the ribs were not only incredible but a healthy portion size ( we got the 4 ribs a la carte). Just all around very impressive food. HOWEVER, I landed on a 3 with this place because it took over an hour to get my food and we called 15 minutes ahead. It was just unacceptable. On top of that two ppl were ordering their food when I walked in ( so they did NOT call ahead) and they both got their food wayy before me, and one also got ribs!! I was furious at this point. So this tells me they do their call ins with hour time slots to account for walk-ins. We got here at 8:07. Didn't get our food until after 8:45. The customer service was very poor. The floor was sticky and wet and three people came and went before us. I went here after I saw their trending cheesesteak posted on Facebook and I was not disappointed!!! I waited a while for my food but it was totally worth the wait. It was hands-down the best cheesesteak I've ever had and it is massive! You could literally eat a couple meals from it. This place has great food, friendly service and super sweet tea. The owner is a great guy-hard working and proud of the food he sells. He takes a moment to come out and greet his guests as often as he can, and he regales visitors with a great Tenderbones song. He added to the joy we experienced in his place. The food was perfection. I had smoked pork, hubs had brisket, and my daughter had ribs. We were all given a generous serving of food and it was cooked to perfection. Hubs ordered macaroni and cheese- also perfection! The chef even gave us a piece of fish to sample, as it was fish Friday. Real fish fried really well. Another guy came in and ordered the cheesesteak, and it looked incredible. The Barbeque sauce is delicious; I wish I had the recipe! We were full all day after our lunch there. Note that Tenderbones is primarily for takeout, and they get busy so you may need to wait a bit- but trust me when I say the food is worth it. We did eat in store at the counter, but we were lucky to get a seat. I wouldn't plan for that always being the case. Got a cheesesteak and a brisket sandwich. Cheesesteak was big and was seasoned very well. I didn't get the peppers/onions/mushrooms that is usually come on it. Brisket sandwich was very dry, although the sauce was good. Ate about 1/3 of the cheesesteak and a few pieces of the brisket. $24 for 2 sandwiches. The 4 bones BBQ ribs were tasty I asked for spicy and they were tangy. I thought the meat was fairly tender and the portion was complimentary. The counter needs to be spruced up for increased customer appeal. I will try this noteworthy establishment again in the future I love good food read more

First of all it was hot in there as if there was no air conditioning the food took 35 minutes for them to give to us, and when I opened the coleslaw it had sour smell that was disgusting--like who would sell food that has expired or that is old... The food is okay. The wait is ridiculous! The owner has a pleasant personality and does a lot of talking up the cheesesteak. But it's way too big and not really a sandwich. More of a steak and cheese scramble on bread. I called in an order. I was told it would be 90 minutes. Because of the length of time, I gave them an order for other things outside of a cheesesteak to justify this wait. I arrived on time. There was so much pomp and circumstance around me tasting this cheesesteak. But guess what, the other food took another hour. So my cheesesteak just sat there getting cold and soggy! I'm an Uber driver. Picked up my regular passenger who was docked at the summit marina for 3 months while he was in town to have his boat repaired. After having driven him multiple times prior (he called me every time he needed to go somewhere) he said he had eaten at Tender Bones; which is a brand new business down the street from my house and Summit Marina as well. All I'll say is that I had to pull over 4 times at multiple establishments; even once at the rest stop on 95 so that he could relieve himself. The food obviously gave him the runs. Gave this Restaurant a second chance called from exit 4 on Nj Turnpike was told to pick up by 1.30 pm for 2 Cheesesteaks get there 3 people in kitchen one person looks like she making orders still had to wait an extra 35 minutes and credit card machine stop working and they had to get owner on phone way to much going on and they need a better system in there kitchen and definitely more help read more

We had the ribs, brisket, collard greens, mac & cheese, chicken, and cornbread. The food was all ridiculously good, can't recommend this place enough. The staff was really friendly and there seemed to be a lot of regulars coming in. I would of liked if they sold a combo meat platter to try out their selection but it's only available on friday. The prices seemed reasonable for what they offered. I Ordered the last slab of mild ribs, a brisket sandwich, and side of Mac & cheese. It Was probably about a 25 MIN wait. Unfortunately I wont be going back. The ribs and brisket was DRENCHED in sauce. We had to wipe the ribs off with paper towels. The sauce tastes ok but very sugary. The ribs were thick but were very fatty and mushy. We only had a couple bites of the brisket. The sauce was just too much. The Mac and cheese I thought it was okay but wasn't smoked and noodles were too over done for the Wife. read more
