Great spot for sandwiches in the Newark area. They are consistently good. The service was friendly and efficient and the recently remodeled interior looked great. *important note - they are not open on Saturdays or Sundays*

Wife and I came up from Florida. We'd had a couple cheesesteaks in Philly and while they were good, I didn't feel like the food really lived up to the hype until we got to Mike's. This place is exactly what I was anticipating on our trip up here. This place was bare bones and no frills but clean and the staff was great. Wish we weren't leaving tomorrow morning so we could come back one more but 10/10 would recommend.

The subs might be fresh, but I was far from impressed with the enforcement of social distancing at Mike's Famous. With people packed inside the shop, and the counter losing my order after a 20-minute wait, picking up subs to-go was anything but a smooth process at this small local spot. And while the turkey itself was good, there was no oil on the sub as per my request - leaving an unfortunately dry sandwich that left a lot to be desired. All in all? Subs were fine, but next time I think I'll be sticking with Capriotti's to satisfy my local sub-shop cravings.

Went here on a recommendation that they have the "best cheesesteaks" in town. Ehhhh.. cheesesteak was pretty regular for this area. I ordered with fried onions, sweet peppers, and lettuce. The lettuce wasn't the shredded kind but the salad lettuce (which is weird on any sandwich) and the peppers were just regular green and red bell peppers. It's fine for them not to have sweet peppers as an option, but I wish he would've just said that when I was ordering so I didn't expect to get them on my sandwich. I also ordered old Bay fries and as you can see from the picture below it was a whole lot of fries and barely any Old Bay. They were only $1.50 though, so I'm pretty sure I got what I paid for.

I was joined by John Neighbors and Bald Head Baby camera crew. This was a very good cheesesteak. More of everything and it would be a contender. Everything was fresh, mixed well and tasted very good. Different kind of roll, I described it as 'flimsy' but it worked great.

It is a good spot for a typical cheesesteak not the best but also not the worst. Fast service and consistent.

New owners don't make it feel like the old ones. You no longer feel like "family" the food isn't the same either. Just not the way it was.

The menu lacks details, so ask a lot of questions. It would be helpful to see list of options to add or change. For example, the chicken cheesesteak does not come with anything but cheese on it. Glad i asked, because i can't imagine having one without onions & peppers. Also..i wanted a different cheese. Again, glad i asked. No pancakes, (unsfuffed) French toast, bagels with lox. Chairs are old and extremely uncomfortable. Place is loud even if a few people are there. It's literally hell. Horrible service. Waiter brought me 2/3 of a cup of warm coffee and asked if I wanted milk or cream and sugar instead of bringing them over. Had to wait five minutes for my eerily specific request for a certain number of creams and Splenda. No spoon or other way to mix the cream and sugar. I couldn't find a single thing on the menu that seemed even remotely close to palatable, so I ordered an English muffin, thinking I'd be safe. Wrong. It was doughy and soaked with butter. Should I have told them to hold the butter because I was a jelly guy? Who knows. I've never felt more like leaving a zero dollar tip than I did at Greenhouse Gastropub. Skip it.
