Review Visit: November 26th, 2018 Full disclaimer: This place does not have alcohol and you get more than 10 drops in your caffeinated beverage. My sister and I set out on a treacherous journey to Chicago for a family event after an overnight storm dropped some ice and snow. Along the way, we stopped to get some coffee and to also spend a few minutes out of the car. We picked Ten Drops as it was close to Chicago and just far enough away to avoid the god awful traffic that comes with it. Ten Drops is located in a building that shares space with other businesses. You walk through the front door, walk down a hallway and take a right and then go through the doors at the end. Easy enough to navigate. Parking was ample on the cold and snowy day that we went and should still allow for easy visiting even if they are a bit busy. Once inside, we straight to the menu and spent a few minutes pouring over what to get. My sister ended up getting a hot chocolate and I grabbed a drink called 'Outsiders'. According to the menu, it is a rotating dark blend. To me, that sounds like a normal black coffee that changes once in a blue moon. What I ordered was just that, but watching the barista make my drink, it was not that simple. He took about 5 minutes to prepare it, going through about 8 steps to make it. It seemed like a pour over black coffee with some added goods? For all the coffee that I drink and all the places that I have visited, the process to make all the varieties of coffee styles still alludes me. While we were waiting, my sister and I split the cookie that we ordered. It was a chocolate chocolate chip cookie that was a bit smaller than the palm of your hand. We both agreed that it was delicious and we wanted another! The inside of Ten Drops is cozy and open. There was plenty of seating for 12-16 people before it would reach capacity. There were a few people that braved the cold to grab something warm. The counter that you order from is also a bar that you can sit at. The sitting area (overall) is a bit bigger than what you can see in my photos. Once my drink was ready for consumption, we hit the road. It was once we were back on the interstate that we tried out our drinks. My sister said her hot chocolate was good, but it had more of a cinnamon flavor to it than anything else. I took a sip and I agreed. My coffee, despite all the work that went into it, tasted like a normal black roast... if not a bit fancier. It reminded me a lot of the coffee I got from Blueprint Coffee in St. Louis. I liked it quite a bit once I got halfway through it. My sister thought it tasted decent but was nothing to write home about. All in all, it was a great place to stop, stretch our legs and get some drinks for the road.

What a cute place!! A hidden gem for sure. The interior is still in the works, but wow. It's so cute, perfect for doing work, or school work. The iced latte I got was their "what's good here" drink. It has vanilla and honey in it and it's amazing. Best latte I've had in a while. Creamy, and delicious. I'll definitely be back here. I wish I could be a regular, however I live nowhere near this location.

Bare bones coffee. It looks pretty boring inside but don't let that keep you from coming in a few minutes. Ten Drops Coffee is run by people who live for coffee, making the best possible stuff after putting in hours of perfection. Has a few African and European kinds. With some more options and some pastries they'll be even better after those. I came in to check it out a bit. Kind of quiet even for a coffee shop. There was music but that was it though. It didn't have much of an atmosphere. There was only one barista working. As you can expect, it took a long time just to get one cup of coffee. The coffee thankfully isn't too expensive even for this. I had an Ethiopian Pour Over. It's $3.80 for a regular. That's not bad for all that. Of course this coffee is labor intensive so costs are kind of higher. The lattes are good and you can get some of the less common nut milks like macadamia. For the most part it pretty much has nothing but coffee. If you're lucky there might be art for sale. There's nothing of any kind of food but it would be nice if they had some muffins and pastries.

I love their coffee! I'm always sure to stock up on bags. My favorite is The Outsider (good for drip and espresso). Each bad purchased comes with a free drink. Don't come out to Plainfield often, but when I do, it's one of my pit stops. I wish they still carried cool mugs. I have a couple of their old ones and people are always complimenting them.

Best coffee in suburban Chicago. It's a small cozy place, nothing fancy! But the quality is top notch. Love all the drinks that they offer. My favorite is French toast and conquistador It's unique flavor. I would highly recommend people to come here and try this place! Worth to drive for sure :)

If you like great coffee and excellent service, visit 10 Drops. While you may fallback on your corporate coffee shop, 10 Drops elevates the coffee game. The ambiance the space is hipster eclectic, with a twist of fun.

We had a pleasant experience. The service was good and I thought helpful, we both had never been here, the coffee was good and we thought the ambiance was very cool and eclectic. All of the art was available for sale we were told and it was awesome! We went on a Sunday morning after breakfast because the weather was beautiful so if I had to put them to task, I would say, more tables and chairs outside would have been nice for all of the customers to sit and enjoy the outside:)!

Hands down the best cappuccino I've ever had! The coffee aroma greets you as soon as you walk in. The place is clean and quiet, while I was there it got a bit busy but not overcrowded. The barista seemed very knowledgeable and passionate about his craft, will definitely return. read more

I was surprised to see this new coffee place at the end of the building with Tailwinds Rum and Chicago Brew Werks. It is small but interesting. Standard chemistry beakers are used to prepare coffee. I liked my iced coffee with expresso, and my friend liked her chai tea latte equivalent brew. Both of the people serving us were very friendly. I was interested to see the coffee drip chemistry device that the counter person referred to as "an Ethiopian coffee maker equivalent to coffee water boarding. Tried this place for the first time and loved it! It has a very industrial, small shop and eclectic vibe. My friend and I both ordered classic lattes with almond milk and went over and seated ourselves on this old Victorian couch. The barista was very friendly and he brought our cups over to us and was nice enough to come back, check in/ clear our dishes. The latte had a slight bitterness, but was made very well and the latte art was beautiful. In grand total we spent a good hour in there just enjoying ourselves. I'm mad I haven't come in sooner, but have now found another great local coffee spot right in my hometown! read more

If you haven't yet found this little gem hidden away in Plainfield please check it out! I recently met some friends for coffee and croissant there and was blown away by the skill and quality of both their barista and pastry chef. I ordered a mocha which took a couple of minutes to prepare. They brought it to my table in a wide ceramic mug, hot and creamy with a beautiful latte art tulip on top! It was rich in flavor and not too sweet. They told me they buy in their croissant from someone who had studied culinary arts and it showed. My almond croissant was beautifully flaky, crisp on the outside, soft inside and delicious. Years ago I worked as the HR person for The French Baker in Chicago where I had very decent croissant all the time. This was best croissant I have had in a long long time! read more

Hard to try coffee elsewhere when you have had it here. I have found myself just saying no and skipping coffee all together elsewhere. I am fortunate this is close to home. The bags of coffee are a bit pricey but hey quality is what it is. I pay top dollar for quality beer and this is not any different. read more

You will get about 10 drops of coffee. The cups are small and the coffee tastes watered down. But you still pay a hefty price. Definitely not going back there. Crema in Plainfield is much better. read more

Love these guys, some of my favorite freshly roasted coffee (on site) in the Chicago Suburbs! You're not going to find fresher coffee than this.They have even done some special barrel aged coffee which were delicious. They really take the time to get they drinks perfect. The owners really know their coffees and have a great cafe with plenty of seating and table space. I highly recommend visiting Ten Drops Coffee! read more

I come here often and I'm always happy with the selection of coffee beans and lattes they offer. The employees are very nice and I like how they've managed things since covid with bringing orders outside to keep employees safe. During normal times, you can walk in to see a band practicing together or people playing board games, and enjoying each other's company. I recommend this place to everyone. read more

Very interesting little place tucked inside of an industrial area just east of downtown Plainfield. You walk in and it's literally like a laboratory! Scales, test tubes, beakers.... it looks like some kind of mad science lab! But the people behind the counter are super friendly and very knowledgeable about what they do! wonderful little gem of a coffee shop-lab tucked way away off the beaten path in Plainfield Illinois. However should you be lucky and stumble upon it such as I did you will not be disappointed and most likely you will return again and again . Chris and Aaron are personable knowledgeable and a pleasure to do business with. First cup of Rawandan dark made a believer out of me. Unfortunately as explained by Chris this is a seasonal type coffee and it was at the end of its run. As I understand it, this coffee may not be back around until the latter part of the year or beginning of next year...SO for now I have Burundi coffee and it is a very close relative of the former. Both Chris and Aaron have a passion for what they do and go to great lengths to explain their mission and talk you through the coffee trade . They are small and in a cramped space for now but most likely this will not remain so for long read more

Amazing, awesome, and great customer service! The owners have a passion and you can tell they love what they do. We ordered two coffees, a Kyoto iced and an iced Mocha Island. The Kyoto iced is very smooth, I drank it black to ensure I was tasting all the flavor of the brewing process. The iced Mocha is extremely good. They combine two milks, one of the milks is coconut. The mocha is mild and doesn't overwhelm the beverage. The balance of milk, espresso, mocha, and sweetener is like nothing I've had. The coffee is a bit pricey but when you know the process of roasting to grinding to methodology it's worth the price. read more

This place can be tricky to find but the search is worth it. They are very knowledgeable and passionate about good coffee. My sister lives in Chicago and when she visits she never hesitates to stop here on the way home. She says the drink they serve her is the best she has ever had. That says a lot considering she has access to the many places of Chicago to get coffee. read more

Small coffee shop that is off the beaten path but only a few minutes from the downtown plainfield area. amazing coffees. I have tried iced and hot. The conquistador is amazing. Slightly spicy but very rich and flavorful. Prices are very fair. Support this local business, you won't be disappointed. read more

These guys are a trip. Came in for a coffee and to check the place out. Funny owners, full of stories and knowledge. visiting Ten Drops makes me think about coffee differently. My advice to patrons, ask questions and don't be shy saying I don't know something. These guys were very warm and friendly explaining the finer details about coffee. read more

This place is small but charming. The owners are very friendly and courteous, and the coffee is excellent. They're always experimenting with different brews and mixtures, which are always fun to try. If you're going to stop by, make sure that you pick up a pound of their own roasted beans, which are also unique and full of different flavors. I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a small cafe atmosphere, along with delicious hand-crafted drinks. read more

Stopped in for the first time this morning. Busy and friendly. This is not the place for a quickie cup of coffee that sits in a carafe BUT it is the place for a great cup of coffee carefully and perfectly brewed. What a great place to go to get a great cup of coffee or beans for home. Another local business that I will support. read more

I always notice the patio that folks sit on early mornings and decided it was time. Upon entering I had three super friendly women say hello to me. It's larger than it looks with seating inside in nice booths and really well decorated. It's also very clean and customers keep rolling in on way to work. The staff is awesome and the women I spoke to informed me that they've been there about 5 years and that all the pastures are made in house. These are not average d eryday pastries they are luxurious treats beautifully created at a reasonable price. The in house bakers need a huge shout out along with the entire staff. Their coffee is really good too, string but not at all overwhelming. Actually excellent stop. I'm sure they will be seeing more of me. You really gotta try this place and I'm sure you'll return.

Great little coffee shop that has the best aroma once you walk in the doors. Very interesting too. The decor is very rustic and even a little scientific with beakers and test tube looking devices.
