Temescal Brewery is a great microbrewery in Oakland that offers lots of ales and other tasty beers! Ive had their Pineapple IPA here once because a friend brought a 4 pack to a baseball game. Their beer is a true craft beer delight, blending good Ales with fruit flavors and classic beer recipe creations. I recently visited the Brewery with the same friends, and was lucky to taste a few other Beers that ranged from an Amber ale to a Guava flavored Pale Ale. The flavors of these beers as well as the Whit (wheat beer) provide good depth matched with a reasonable ABV that won't get you too lit at once. I picked up a 4 pack of their Mosaic Lager, and it's very tasty, and was a great addition to happy hour with my friends. So fun! My friends and I came here on a sunny Saturday. Perfect way to spend a few hours in the afternoon. - $7 per pour (16oz each) - $12 per flight (4 choices) PROS: - Great beer selection (especially IPAs--there were 6! 2 were sold out by the afternoon) - Flights are a great option when you want to try multiple before committing to a 16oz. You pick 4 beers. I'm a huge IPA fan, so my selection was easy. I picked the 4/6 that were still available that day (Temescal Hazy, Heavy Sunshine, Birthday #3, and Juice Futures). Tem Hazy and Birthday #3 were the winners IMO. - Good amount of outdoor seating (if there isn't a party going on!) - Environment is super chill, not too loud considering the amount of people - Staff is helpful and patient and bathrooms are clean (and stocked with some feminine products)! - They had a food vendor there serving one dish ($16 for a rice bowl)--not sure if that vendor changes and/or how often the menu does. BUT I saw people bringing in outside food so I believe that's allowed. CONS: - If there's a party when you're there (because of course there was one when we were), you might have a bit of trouble with outdoor seating since parties can reserve tables through the beer garden. They have indoor seating too, but what's the point of a beer garden on a sunny day if you're inside? - I wish there were more food options! Thew have some delicious brews and although they don't serve food, they usually have a food truck right outside. I had some tasty street tacos when I went! Went here for the Laugh City event on 11/19. I had never been to this brewery before but immediately I noticed nice outdoor setting and amount of space they have. It's the perfect place for an event--especially one during covid that requires social distancing. There is a lot of space to distance yourself from other people. I was very impressed by the system they have for ordering and picking up drinks. You order through your phone, you are sent a text when your drink is ready with a number. The number tells you which cubby your beer is in. You go over to a shelf system of beers where you go pick up your order. It's contactless, easy, and efficient! I would love to attend another event at this brewery. I was very impressed with their system. The beers were good. The event was awesome. What more can you ask for? My favorite spot for a beer and some good insta pictures! TEMESCAL Brewing has been one of my favorite happy hour spots since college. They have a great outdoor seating with an aesthetic setup. They change their beer menu once in a while so I get to try different things every time I visit. Highly recommend even if you're not a huge fan of beer (I don't normally drink beer)! They have a great variety of drinks on the menu that will surprise you. If you're not sure what to order, ask the bartenders! They are super sweet and will give you some recommendations! I ordered a Lawn Goose which is a light fruity flavored beer. LOVE IT! This is a great spots to meet up with some coworkers or for a first date! Super cute and super good vibes! They can get busy around the after work hours. There's also a food truck right outside of the brewery so grab some food and have a good time!! read more

Beer garden is COVID-ready! I'm so glad this local favorite finally opened the outdoor patio because enjoying lush, tropical IPAs and playing board games is my jam. There's a beer for everyone - pilsners, lagers, a rainbow of IPAs, strawberry pastry porters, fruity things in bottles. They have a good social distancing set up, where you order online and pick up your cans from an unattended window. We were required to purchase one $2 ticket per person redeemable for a taco or salad at the food truck. I love this place. Come for the beer. Stay for the patio. read more

We reserved 3 tables on the patio at Temescal Brewing for a baby shower get-together. It was great! Sam and the team were so helpful throughout the day and leading up to the process via email. Generally I've had decent experiences here, and the patio is a really nice place to hang out, but I've found the staff to be kind of mixed in terms of customer service. I had a very strange experience recently. I was waiting at the bar to order, and this woman pops up and tells the bartender to get her three beers, which he begins doing. I look over at her and inform her I was waiting and that she skipped in front of me, and then she very aggressively starts attacking me, threatening me and calling me some names that I will not write down here. For the rest of the afternoon while I was simply drinking my beer with my partner, this woman kept making mean gestures at me and even yelled at me across the patio a couple of times. Anyway, after the bartender completes her order, I ask him why he served this woman when she was being very aggressive with me. He shows me no sympathy at all and instead blames me for it and says that I was looking at the menu and thus forfeited my place in line. All in all he was being very stand-offish with me and seemed not to understand that the whole encounter made me feel really unsafe. But then, strangely, he did comp me drinks for the rest of the afternoon, which I guess was his way of saying sorry? It's too bad, as I've generally liked it here up to this point, but this experience really does make me wonder about coming here in the future. read more

Lovely place! Limited seating inside and more places outside in their beer-garden section but there will be a wait and a line ;) We just grabbed couple chairs and sat by the bar. Place is nice and neat and service is friendly! Good selection of beers well priced $5-8 for a pint! Cool outdoor patio here. We came at about 8:15 on a Friday night. The place was just packed enough but with tables and seating becoming free all the time. The crowd was mostly younger - late twenty-somethings and early thirty-somethings. Lots of groups. Dress code was very casual. Shorts and sandals no problem. Dogs welcomed also. Ordering drinks happens inside the building just off the patio. We had the Good News Amber ale and the Here and Now IPA. Both were decent. The beer is probably not the best aspect of this place, as the big open space of the patio is very welcoming. There's also food to order, immediately to the right when you enter the patio from the street. We ubered here. No regrets on that because street parking was hit or miss and seemed limited. Would come here again with a group of friends perhaps. read more

I was just here with my hubby and we loved this place. Wonderful atmosphere with fantastic workers. The beer was amazing and we loved the fact that's it's kid friendly because we brought our 3 year old son with us. They have a nice selection of beers and the prices are great! Lovely, fun, bright neighborhood spot in Temescal. Their outdoor patio is once again open, and has tons of tables for social distanced hangs! They set up contactless ordering through QR codes at each table. Drink orders can be picked up at their "beer-o-matic" window! I thought this was a creative and fun approach to contactless ordering. We bought $2 food tickets and redeemed them at a taco truck onsite. There's nothing better than warm tacos and cold drinks with friends. Love the decor, colors, and spirit of this place. A great new addition to the Temescal area. Crazy to think that I've driven by this place multiple times but never stopped in since it was so unassuming. This place is awesome since you can see the vats in the back. They have an indoor area with a few tables and one large booth. Most of the seating is outside though, but they have a tooooon so bring yo friends! They don't serve food (aside from popcorn), but right outside they have a food truck that you can buy food from. It seems like you can bring food inside too so that's a plus! LOCATION: right near MacArthur Bart you can easily walk here from any other of the Temescal bars. Since it's in Telegraph parking isn't plentiful but if you get lucky you can probably nab a spot in the surround area. AMBIANCE: the location is very family friendly. I saw so many kids running around the area and the booth inside reflects that. If you're not as into that then you'll probably grab a table outside. They have heat lamps too so if it gets cold you can ask someone to turn them on for you. I don't believe they have a cover up for the outside area so if it's raining you might be out of luck. SELECTION: they have a great selection of homemade brews. I ended up getting take the apricot beer and it was tasty! Being a cider fan and not an IPA kinda gal the selection was limited on that end. I made a quick stop at Temescal Brewing to meet up with friends, and I was blown away. Being born and raised in Oakland, I could have never imagined a brewery setting up shop on Telegraph. Say what! The inside of the brewery has a funky feel to it with neon lights, pink walls, and other decorations. There is limited seating inside, but plenty outdoors. Staff was friendly, and beers were good! They offer IPAs, as well as lagers, porters, stouts, and ale. So, there is definitely a little something for everyone. I tried their Exotic Locale (blond ale with mango & guava), which was yummy. I also tried a few sips of my boyfriend's IPA (forgot exactly which one), and it wasn't too bad. There are food trucks outside and the brewery itself provides free popcorn, but you can bring outside food. Pro tip, there is Church's Chicken next door! All in all, a chill brewery to check out. Parking can be a hit or miss, but no worries as the brewery is only a few blocks away from MacArthur Bart. read more

I'm not sure if it was race thing but it was very apparent we were being teated much differently here. I love how different the vibe at each brewery in Oakland is. Temescal's niche in all of this is definitely 'the hipster place'. The interior decor is trendy coffee shop meets retro ice cream parlor. White tables, succulents, and lots of pastels. And for some reason, a lovely odor of sugar cookies? Not sure why. But not complainin! In contrast with other hipster-kinda places, I felt super welcome here. The bartender was sooo friendly and accommodating! We chatted for a while and he was very patient as I tried a few pours before making up my mind. It took a few pours before I arrived at a beer I liked. The body was too light and the flavor a bit too subtle on the first few. I could see some of the lighter beers I tried being really enjoyable if it's hot out or you're new to beer or like your beers on the light side. I just tend to prefer dark, rich beer. I finally arrived at a delicious saison. My friend's IPA was also quite good. Lots of flavor and not bitter for the sake of bitterness like a lot of IPAs. In summary: great space, amazing service, and pretty good beer. Other things: easily accessible by public transit, free popcorn and wifi, and occasional neat-looking community events! read more

A brewery that has vintage decorations inside, giving it a very 70s feel. They had a lot of options to choose from. I decided to get the blonde ale that had mango and guava flavors, and you could really taste the fruit tones coming through. They also had a delicious, rich imperial stout with vanilla beans which basically was desert in a cup. You don't even notice the 9% ABV that comes with it. They have a ton of seating in their outside patio, which is nicely decorated with lights and plenty of heat lamps to keep you warm and comfortable. They have freshly popped popcorn in the front that you can snack on while you enjoy a drink. And most days of the week, they have a different food truck parked out front. I was really looking forward to trying the P&J Waffle truck on Saturday when I came by, but unfortunately it was a day that an emergency came up and the truck was unable to be there. read more

Pretty cool chill spot. Came here with a group of friends at night and there's indoor and outdoor seating. It's pet friendly because there was about 3 dogs in the outdoor seating area. Heat lamps were turned on so we didn't freeze to death outside and the beers I tasted were all really good. That's coming from someone who doesn't drink a lot of beer. I tried the apricot saison which had a hint of apricot in it and the Lucky Break which was an ipa. Still not too familiar with the different beers but the lucky break definitely had some good notes in it. I didn't check the menu to see what was in it. I just tried my friends and really liked it. There's $2 for a 3oz taster available and they ran out of the Push Pop which I wanted to order based solely on the name alone. The decor inside is really cute and it looks like during the day there are different food vendors that come around. Happy Grand Opening Temescal Brewing! Talking to enough craft beer enthusiasts in the East Bay, I know I wasn't the only beer nerd excited at the prospect of a Cellarmaker alum brewing on this side of the Bay Bridge. So when Temescal Brewing's official grand opening was announced for the Temescal Street Fair, I knew I'd be there. Great beers, great space, energetic staff. That's my conclusion after their grand opening & a 2nd more recent visit. So far, I've tried 9 of their beers. At this point, that's nearly every beer they've put out. My overall average rating on Untappd for those 9 beers was about 4.1 out of 5, which is excellent. The beers I've seen/ tasted are mostly Pales/ IPA's with a Pils, Blonde, Saison, & Porter thrown in. What's nice is most pours are only $5 or $6 & tasters are available for just $2. Bonus, there's free popcorn to munch on from a popcorn machine in the taproom. Unlike many craft breweries that are located in some distant industrial area & sparsely decorated in heavy dark tones, Temescal Brewing is brightly lit & brightly decorated throughout with a large & inviting beer garden right in the heart of the Temescal neighborhood. & even if you're not from the neighborhood (which I'm not), the location is still easy to get to. The MacArthur BART station is right around the corner & there's bicycle parking wall hangers inside the beer garden toward the back left corner. Congratulations, Temescal Brewing on opening a fine & welcome addition to the East Bay brewing scene. With all the great shops & restaurants already in the Temescal neighborhood, adding an excellent brewery certainly makes this 'hood 1 of Oaktown's best. read more
