Pretty new and hip modern day urban brewery in the gentrified part of West Oakland. I was told this brewery is only 2 years old. I've actually walked past this building before, back when Horn Bbq was next door, but not sure if they were able to open during the same time, as Horn had to move out a few years back. Very industrial vibe here, both outside and inside. For some reason most people were congregated indoors, and nobody was on their patio. The brewery equipment is visible but is blocked off. They do very little inside that warehouse-y space to decorate or give it their stamp. Totally just looks like a warehouse, whereas other breweries with a same type of industrial space like Drake's and Ghost Town have stamped their look and image. I tried a sampler here 4 brews and think they are about $2.50 per 5 oz glass, which is a generous gesture. Of the 4, I really liked 3 of them, and one was kinda weird to me. But good success ratio. I loved their Amber which had a great roasty malt character and hopped in a balanced manner. Tried 2 of their IPAs and one was a winner, that I got a pint of it to go with my pizza from next door. Awesome combo that I would love to revisit, Brix Factory's beer with June's Pizza. Seriously smacks! read more

Spacious warehouse venue with a varied selection of draft beers and at a great price! I couldn't decide which beer to go for and the guy behind the counter started pouring me samples. Ultimately, I ended up getting with Uncontrolled Progress and the Siklon Coffee Stout. It's rare that I get two beers in one sitting but a couple of beers caught my eye (No, it wasn't because of the ABV content). The descriptions legitimately sounded interesting and unique to me and service was generous and friendly. No food served here but there's a legit pizza place right next door. Great brewery serving a dozen or so rotating beers at a time. I love trying their hazy(s) of the moment. The space seems deceivingly small..it's intimate but they actually have a fair amount of seating (indoor and outdoor). They've got a few games you can play, dog treats for furry friends, TVs to play sporting events. No food here but you can grab pizza from Junes nextdoor and bring it in. Service is always warm and kind. Parking can be a little tricky. Surrounding area can be rough so be careful getting here/leaving. read more

Brix Factory Brewing has a lot going for it: staff is friendly, there's plenty of seating -- both indoor and outdoor, the brewery is dog friendly, and the location is right next to June's pizza -- arguably the best pizza spot in the Bay Area currently. However, despite all these positives, my friends and I found that the beers here were mostly unremarkable. I tried their hazy on my most recent visit and I've had hazy IPAs that I've enjoyed more elsewhere, both in terms of texture and taste. If I'm being completely honest, I enjoyed the beers over at Almanac at Prescott Market a lot more. In terms of logistics, Brix has a parking lot in the back. There aren't a ton of spaces, so if its full, it may be worth doing a loop around the block to see if June's lot has spaces. read more

Offerings: 12 made in site draft beers of various styles with low abv's. Bbq vendor outside. Great for slow sipping with friends and/or watching a game. Quick courteous service. Got samples. Prefer the porter over the hazy style Sips: "Rock Fall" (6) 16oz. 3.8% abv. -has the characteristics of a porter without the high abv's. Smooth Pour showcases brewing skills. Bites: all beef dog (Nathan's 7) with name brands of brown mustard, relish, sauerkraut). Vender knows his Q. Perfecto but for the burnt bun... 4ish stars...small parking lot. It's safe to say that the best hoppy beers in the state currently are coming out of East Bay, particularly Oakland. Brix Factory, a relative newcomer to the scene, is another fine addition to the scene and a spot to include in any serious craft beer fan's itinerary. Located in West Oakland, Brix is in immediate vicinity to some of my other favorites, so I had to make sure to check it out and taste their offerings for myself. Easy parking and plenty of inside seating are surely a plus, but their patio is the shining star here, especially on a sunny, warm day. Of course, that wouldn't matter much if the beer was not up to highest standards. Founded by craft veterans, Brix Factory tap list has a nice representation of styles across the board. Out of all the styles we sampled, I was particularly impressed with their lower alcohol pale ales. Add the pizza place next door and friendly, knowledgeable servers and I can only confirm Brix will be around for a long time. Needless to state, next time in East Bay and if thirst strikes, Brix Factory will be on my go-to list. read more

Great brewery with lots of space and seating! There is also a small patio outside but the doors and windows also allow in a nice breeze to the brewery. They have a great selection of beers on draft but have limited snack and food options. Thankfully June's Pizza is right next door and you are allowed to bring that over to the brewery for a delicious dinner. read more

I love beer so I had to come check Brix Factory Brewing out on their opening weekend. I met a friend, and we ended up staying for about two hours, because it has such a great vibe. Brix is in an old industrial building and has plenty of seating inside at a long bar or tables. There was also an outside area, but it was raining on Saturday when we were there. The whole space is open, and I love the fact that you can see the whole brewery operation in the back corner. Brix had eight beers on tap, and I was able to try all of them by getting two flights (four pours in each flight). Brix had the beers split up by "light," "hoppy," and "malty" characteristics. I'm usually a hoppy fan, but I really enjoyed "The Eye of Tazman," which is a light Pilsner and the "Lemon Theory," which is a light summer ale at only 3.8% ABV. You can drink it all day! All of the beertenders were friendly and Brix is even dog friendly! What's not to love about a place where your furry friend can come? I'm excited to see what new brews come out in the coming months. read more

This new brewery on the west side opened up less than a month ago and has all the essentials for a spring/summer fun day in the sun. - Plenty of Outdoor seated on a patio - Really spacious indoor seating - Plenty of hours in direct and indirect sunlight - Great variety of beers on tap I tried the Siklon Stout which was very good. Served at a great temp and not too foamy. The servers are experienced, some coming over from the very popular Almanac brewing company so they are used to handling big groups and educating on what they have on tap. One of the friendliest breweries in Oakland! I'm grateful they are willing to host our run groups on Saturday afternoons. I accidentally ordered a beer with some rye in it (I'm sadly allergic!) and the bartender/brewer kindly swapped it out without a charge. He even checked his recipe on the one I pivoted to in order to make sure it was safe for me to drink. I do wish they had a wider variety, but I get that they're still growing. They seem to have pizza onsite (or next door?) but are generous and flexible about you bringing outside food in. Bonus: they're super dog friendly and even have a cute IG page dedicated to photos of pups that roll through. read more

This has become my favorite spot in Oakland for beer and pizza. I loved their outdoor space for my dog before the pizza spot opened and have only wanted to come more with the added bonus of pizza. The beer options range from the occasional sour or seltzer to a hazy ipa (can't speak for the dark beers since I don't like them and have my blinders on). All beers I've tried have been excellent and in combination with the chill atmosphere of the taproom, I can't help but keep coming back. Went to the grand opening and tried 3 different beers. All 3 were excellent! My fave was the Eye of Tasman Pilsner. It's an easy-drinking 5.1% that I can drink all day! Next I had the Plunging Waves which is a nice perfectly balanced IPA at 6.3%. To wrap up the night I had a Redollent Haze pale ale. There was something different about this one that I can't put my finger on. You'll just have to try it! I would be remiss to not mention how close this brewery is to historic Raimondi Park where the Oakland Ballers will be playing. Definitely a good spot to go to before or after a game. read more

So excited to welcome a new brewery to Oakland! Stopped in here on a Wednesday night and got to try every beer on tap (it was just two people+two flights, not a weeknight bender or anything!). We found the beers to be light and easy drinking. I did have some standouts which included the Soft Shoulder (American amber) and an unreleased Pilsner the brewer let us try! What an all-around great spot. Was here this evening with my dog and a group of friends who brought their kids. The kids enjoyed the outdoor space and the tacos from the food truck. We enjoyed the beer and the great vibes. There's a huge variety of beer and a great sense of community. My favorite beer was the hazy IPA with rye but I loved every beer in my flight.
