Highly recommend ordering the Don Hon pizza and the Outside Voice pizza. The Outside Voice has tots, bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar, mozzarella, garlic purée, scallion, & chipotle crema. The crema is sooooo creamy and flavorful and paired nicely with the pizza. The Outside Voice is top 5 pizzas I've ever had. The Don Ho pizza has pepperoni, pineapple, red sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, & pickled jalapeno. For beer, I enjoyed the Top O' The Mornin'. Had a smooth, coffee inspired flavor; very reminiscent of a more subtle Guinness. The inside is spacious and there's seating upstairs. Such a cool vibe and perfect for large groups.

Great atmosphere, live music on the Friday evening I went. My friends and I shared a flight (super aesthetically pleasing), and we were able to find seating pretty easily around 6pm. There was also very easy street parking which was free. After our flight, we ordered a pizza which was delicious paired with our beer, and we ended up getting 2 more beers. My friends and I also bought a pizza from Citizen Pizza Co which was doing a popup to share among three, and it was hitting for some reason!! Such a delicious pizzzaaaa!!!! The brewery also has a "soda machine" that dispensed free water, sparkling water, caffeine, and electrolytes which was really nice especially since we were drinking. Stay hydrated!! I would definitely come back with friends again.

They have an easy ordering system where you fill out the flight card, pay for it, and get your drinks shortly after. Cute flight set up - lift slowly or risk spilling! Didn't get a chance to try the food outside but it smelled really good. Definitely coming back in the near future.

Went on trivia night and it was such a good time. Place was packed, which says a lot--the energy and ambiance just speak for themselves. Staff was super helpful walking us through a few tastings till we landed on something we actually liked. Good beer, fun vibe, and definitely a spot I'd come back to, especially with friends

Service is whatever, not overly friendly or helpful. came here with my boyfriend and his friend. I don't drink beer and they have NO options other than various kinds of beer, or non-alcoholic kombucha. Probably won't be back for that reason. There was live music on a Friday night which I guess is worth mentioning. They also expect you to bus your own table, but ask for tips? The only positive thing in my opinion was the pizza pop up outside but they are a separate business.

One of my FAVORITE breweries in the Bay Area, especially for Hazy IPAs. Spacious taproom and an outdoor patio that's perfect for relaxing with friends. The beer selection is outstanding, featuring a variety of IPAs, sours, pales, and lagers. Each pint is a revelation, bursting with flavor and crafted with care. Love trying all the different hops they use! Whether you're a beer aficionado or just looking for a great place to unwind, Original Pattern Brewing Company is a must-visit.

Cool vibes from the loft! I love OP beer but never have made it out to the brewery until now. The beer is crisp as ever. The bartenders are incredibly nice and welcoming. They even have pizza being sold at the front which looked amazing. definitely will be stopping by next time in Oakland.

Original Pattern Brewing is a fantastic brewery located near Jack London. The inside of the brewery is spacious with 2 levels of seating, providing plenty of room for guests. However, the upstairs area was quite hot and humid when I came, even with the windows open, as there was steam coming out of one of the fermentation tanks. There was plenty of seating available when my group visited on a Friday evening around 7 pm. They have live music happening every Friday evening, so you can check their website to see who will be performing. There was a live jazz band on the day we came. If you're hungry, you can order pizza from Citizens pizza outside to enjoy with your beer. I had already eaten before coming so I didn't get any food. As someone who isn't a big fan of beer, I decided to split a flight of 6 beers with a friend for $18. The flight came with a cute holder, but you have to walk carefully to avoid spilling, especially when going up the stairs. You write down your orders for the flight and keep the sheet afterwards. It was really nice to have that to reference as we tried the beers, so we knew exactly what we were trying. We got a variety to try. My favorites were The Path to Somewhere (German pilsner) and the Outer Realm (hazy IPA). Overall, Original Pattern Brewing offers a great atmosphere and a wide selection of beers. I would recommend this brewery to anyone looking for a chill night out in the Jack London area.

    Me and my attitude.....
    Rhonda B.

I found this brewery in 2024 when I came to listen to live music for the evening. I sampled a beer called space balls that was as close to Guinness Stout on tap as you can get and it was outstanding spoiler alert I had three. I also ordered a pepperoni pizza and added extra items and Brussels sprouts. The pizza was so gooey and crispy and good also the sprouts were so blackend and flavorful. I keep also coming back every few months because the staff are amazing, I have a few favorites. Check out their website to see who's playing there and pick up a six pack on the ways home. Great energy and vibe. Interesting crowd....older but chill, business types, hipster, young millennials with a relaxed attitude.

Nice space and great beer. We shared a flight and loved being able to sample some different things, then take home some cans of our favorite.

The craft beer scene in and around Oakland has improved in the 18 years I have worked downtown. While there weren't many options within walking distance, opting to drive or BART to the city for good craft. Over the years the scene has improved and Original Pattern is one of those craft breweries that's within walking distance from my employer. OP is located in a brick building on the corner of 4th and Harrison, next to the Posey Tube vent structure. The brewery is open, with multi-floor seating, as well as outside seating around the building. The bar backs up to the brewing floor, where large stainless steel fermenters are visible. The current tap rotation is posted on the wall, as you wait in line, as well as on small clipboards around the bar. OP sells cans and merchandise up front as you walk in. I'll be honest, I was not initially a fan of OP, but it's become one of my go to breweries in the area. The staff are helpful and insightful, as well as friendly, this too goes for those who frequent the establishment. I've sampled over 50 of their beers, sticking mainly to clear beer, lagers, pilsners, IPAs and sours. Been very satisfied with the different styles on taps, the hops used and the diverse flavors brewed. The only negative thing I have to say is having to pay tax on top of an $8 beer or any beer served at OP. Obviously, its not enough to stop me from frequenting the establishment. The other great part of OP, is Citizen Pizza is on site, serving up fresh pies and food. Make for an enjoyable afternoon/evening after work. You can see my review for CP on Yelp as well. Overall, I can't give them anything less than five stars. The location, the beer, the staff, the pizza. Keep up the good work!

The delightful Bean Me Up! Porter from Original Pattern Brewing.
    Alden C.

Original Pattern Brewing was a brewery I had on my "to try" list and I am glad that getting an experience with their beer came together recently. The beer we had was Bean Me Up! which was a porter which it was great to have. It has coffee flavor with dry and bitter qualities to it which makes a nice complexity to it and very infectious to drink. Rich and full this porter is perfect to have by a toasty fire as the rain comes down or as the snow flies outside.

    Neither here nor pear gose
    Katie R.

Awesome brewery boasting fun beers in a cool space! They had a pretty good variety of brews with 14 beers on tap. They hit most styles from light to dark. No sours when we went in, but they did have a gose. They also had some others available in the can, though they were for to-go consumption only. We came here on a Saturday afternoon shortly after opening and the downstairs was pretty packed. Lucky for us, they also had a spacious upstairs area with plenty of seating. They also had a few spots outside, though the inside seating was more comfortable. There's plenty of free street parking near by, most of it in the 2-4 hour range. Don't come this way often, but would come back here for sure. Would love to see them expand to other areas of the Bay too!

When I went to close out my tab at the bar, the staff member who came over to help me gave me the dirtiest, impatient, pissed-off look that I've ever received in my life. It was as if I had kicked his dog and personally insulted him, his family and his entire generational line. When he gave me the payment device, he must have accidentally navigated away from correct screen because I didn't have any options to close out my tab (i.e. there was no tip screen, or place to request a receipt). I handed the device back to him and before I could point out the issue, he snatched the device away and rushed off. Knowing something was wrong, I waited at the counter for a few minutes for him to return. I raised the billing issue and his curt response was "you must have waited too long and the screen disappeared -- you're fine". I returned to my table knowing that something was off, but left with my friends since they needed to head out to a dinner reservation. After we had said our goodbyes to our friends outside the brewery, I shared the strange interaction I had closing out my tab with my wife, and as a precaution, she recommended that we head back to the brewery to try to close out the tab again, just in case something was overlooked. I thought this was a good idea, but this time, asked my wife to try to close out my tab, as I didn't want to experience the wrath of the impatient staff member again. To absolutely nobody's surprise, the tab was not closed out! This staff member is by far, the rudest individual that I've encountered in the service industry and should reconsider their employment if they hate customer interactions this much. Truly appalled by my experience and won't be coming back anytime soon. If management wants to investigate the issue further, the tab was opened at the outside bar at 8/14/26 4:23 PM, check #35, and was transacted on by three separate staff members: 1) first person who opened the tab was friendly 2) second person who added on the second round of drinks was the same rude individual who didn't correctly close out my tab later in the evening, and 3) the third staff member was the one who finally properly closed out the tab with my wife at 7:11 PM.

Tl;dr - A true beer garden ala Texas/Midwest, with the food, beer, and relaxed summer vibes you all…read moredream of. There's something for the whole family aside from some truly tasty beers. I've been coming here for awhile, ever since one fine afternoon I was in town on business and was feeling a need for craft beer. I was once the world's predominant authority on craft beer in my own mind, but years of chugging ales have decimated my tolerance for it. Anywho, the first thing you'll notice about this spot is it's out there, pretty far off from downtown Alameda tucked away in an old military pier alongside some other more enterprising establishments. Lots of parking so there's that. Inside, they are definitely doing that thang, massive brewery stacks dominate the background but the space is massive so it supports an almost endless amount of tables, benches, and spots to hide out. Arcade machines, outdoor activities (even a kids sandbox) really add the "Adventureland" elements that make it more than just a standard brew joint. If you've had their beer, it's definitely on the expensive side, but they keep a healthy variety that I would say is all reliably refined and delicious. Its no 2000 era Bells or modern day Founders, but I particularly like their love hazy and the Mexican style lagers. My friends who like sours say they are also quite good. Although this place is really not directly affiliated with the business it's definitely a reason I go so I can't leave it out -- they have food trucks outside that handle most of the food there and the one they have there always has one of the best burgers I've ever had in the bay, hands down. It's a blackened blueberry and blue cheese burger and even though I don't like blue cheese, this unholy alliance is faaaaaaan-friggin-tastic. Must try. Service is casual, they do flights which is a great way to try things. Not sure about any happy hours, would love to see them get a mug/growler thing going here for discounts, they might have something already I'm just not aware of but nothing is obvious when I've gone. It's a great spot to kick it with some friends on a nice day or late afternoon, having a few beers and relaxing. California doesn't really do the beer garden thing like we do in the Midwest, you'll find spots like this all over Michigan so it's nice to see something of the same type here finally. I believe dogs are allowed too ala Texas vibes, but not 100% on that so I'd check ahead of time. Personally, I cannot stand seeing dogs at restaurants and bars so even if they do allow it, those aren't your kids, can we start reporting places that allow dogs without signage? If I brought a raccoon in on a leash would you be fine with that? It's a sanitation issue. Anyways, I digress, if you like beer, you like fun, and you like damn fine burgers, this is the best spot on the other side of the pond. 'nuff said.

I've actually walked past this building before, back when Horn Bbq was next door, but not sure if they were able to open during the same time, as Horn had to move out a few years back. Very industrial vibe here, both outside and inside. For some reason most people were congregated indoors, and nobody was on their patio. The brewery equipment is visible but is blocked off. They do very little inside that warehouse-y space to decorate or give it their stamp. Totally just looks like a warehouse, whereas other breweries with a same type of industrial space like Drake's and Ghost Town have stamped their look and image. I tried a sampler here 4 brews and think they are about $2.50 per 5 oz glass, which is a generous gesture. Of the 4, I really liked 3 of them, and one was kinda weird to me. But good success ratio. I loved their Amber which had a great roasty malt character and hopped in a balanced manner. Tried 2 of their IPAs and one was a winner, that I got a pint of it to go with my pizza from next door. Awesome combo that I would love to revisit, Brix Factory's beer with June's Pizza. Seriously smacks!

It gets super packed often however, the staff are always kind and efficient. The buffalo wings and (garlic) fries are always a must. I feel like the ranch could be tastier (my favorite is from Wingstop). The Fried Chicken Sandwich was not good at all. It was lacking soo much flavor and honestly only order this if you want cuts in every crevice of your mouth. I'll be trying something different next visit for sure.

The lady at the counter busted our line down quickly and efficiently and the food came out pretty quickly as well. Beer was poured at the counter. The outdoor seating area is delightful, clean, and well-shaded. Food is brought out but dishes are personally bussed. I got the cherry sour which was very sour and fruity - a little surprising (in a good way), delicious, and refreshing. I ordered the fish and chips but wanted a vegetable so I also got the melon and tomato salad. I'm a sucker for flan so I also had to try that. The fish and chips were perfect and piping hot and crispy. The salad was unfortunately a little disappointing; neither the melons nor tomatoes tasted very ripe so the whole salad was just a bit lacking in flavor. The flan also had a sliiiightly overcooked texture, but was overall pretty good, with a well-executed caramel sauce. Portions are also very generous!
