Temescal Brewing was founded in 2016 on the values of Quality, Community & Vibes. During a recent trip to Oakland, we visited on a Saturday and I legit felt the good vibes and community whilst enjoying a flight in their beer garden. I saw with my own eyes several groups of friends happily congregating, and some even brought their toddlers and canine companions. Service was friendly and of the four beers I sampled, my faves were the Pils and POG Seltzer. I tried to go back for seconds on the seltzer but unfortunately they were tapped out. I had the pleasure of trying Temescal Brewing when meeting some cool peeps for a board game night! Our group booked a table online in advance. Great selection of drinks! Our group seemed pleased with their libations. I'm not a beer person myself, so their seltzer option was quite nice (and not too pricy for a large glass!). Finally got to try Temescal Brewing and it's yet another brewery I have been wanting to try for a long time. So it was good to checkmark this brewery off of my "to try" list. What Steve and I had was the Temescal Hazy, a hazy New England style IPA which we liked. Flavor highlights with this beer are juicy, melony, tropical and bitter. I found this brewery through the eventbrite website during their Oktoberfest celebration. I was pleasantly surprised at how cute and cozy this little venue is. The beer is really good and I love that they have great events happening every week and its a different theme every night and good music. The menu items are tasty too! I heard the owner "sharing" with a customer that they have different pop up trucks that they show case as well on certain nights and food specials. The neighborhood begs Temescal Brewery to please turn down the awful music and the repetitive, thumping, over-amplified bass that carries for blocks. No other bar on Telegraph Ave. shows such arrogant disregard for its neighbors. They are blasting music essentially from an open air lot. Many neighbors have tried to address this with management only to be met with arrogance and hostility from management and rude staff. We are not asking for the music to be turned off, only down. Temescal Brewing is one of my favorite breweries to visit in the East Bay. Like lots of places, the beer is good. They have a more interesting selection of beers than I find at most places. The food trucks out front are excellent. The decore is miles ahead of anyone else as is their bathroom game. This winter, for example, it was transformed into a winter resort getaway right in the middle if the city! There were tinsel trees, signs showing them as a "ski village, and even a ski check WITH SNOW SKIS! Staff is friendly and patient. The bathrooms are large, very clean, and supplied with extras like lady products, breathe mints, hand wipes, fentanyl test strips, and Narcan (can't be too safe). I love that they offer fill-your-own-taster-placards prior to ordering, so if you're into tasters...this is the perfect spot! AND completely contactless. They have tons of hazy IPA's and a variety of beers from pale ales to stouts and everything in between. The Temescal Hazy is a solid choice if you know you love hazy beers and want something that is juicy and can quench any thirst. My favorite was the Wonder Why since the flavors of the hazy were so crisp and dank. I also enjoyed the Coldest Beer, very tasty. Everything was on the same level of intensity and mouthfeel and perfect for post-hike drinks. I love their lewk and design, very colorful and fun, summer-y vibes in this space. WITH unisex restrooms (two of them) and a food truck parked outside their outside patio area. Temescal Brewing has a suuuuper cute patio area to just sit and sip a beer. I'd def recommend coming in the evening time because the lights turn on and it gives a whole summer night vibe that I've been dying for, especially because COVID took that away!! I'm a fan of sours and luckily this place had a sour on tap. It was flavorful!!! They also had some canned ones to take home. I looked online to see what kind of beers were available that day. Service here was also amazing. The cashiers were extremely friendly. This place is also COVID friendly! Tables are spaced out, wireless menu, and they ask that you limit your stay at the tables to 90 min (if it's busy), and as always, MASK!!! (unless drinking ofc). You buy a meal ticket for two dollars to be admitted to the beer garden. The ticket said that it gets you some cash off at whatever food truck is there. It's only February but we've had some pretty warm nights lately. There's no better way to take advantage of the weather than spending the evening at a beer garden. Temescal is right on Telegraph so parking is pretty tricky, most people park on a few streets down and walk over. The outdoor beer garden is gorgeous, the patrons range from couples, big groups of friends. I loved the diverse crowd all congregating together to support and enjoy local brews. If you're a parent or dog parent, this place is both baby and dog friendly. The set up is independent, you enter the brewery for your beer then seat yourself outside. There are so many options on tap and they lean heavy on the IPAs which I love. If you're not in the mood to drink on site there is a fridge filled of their locally brewed concoctions available to go via 6-packs. They don't serve food inside the brewery but always have a food truck on site if you want to purchase some food. Once you're finished you bus your table before you leave. Local brews, local food and friendly locals are reasons to visit this beer garden. Temescal has entered my loop of go to weekend stops. read more

Friendly, knowledgeable staff and great beer. I've witnessed their beer improve over the years. Really digging 'Chill' these days, a Cold IPA. Great variety too. Even though they always have some great staple styles like Light Lagers and Pale Ales, they also venture into some more creative different stuff, like Amaro and Aperitivo inspired beers. Love that they have cans and crowlers for to go beers as well as bottled beers for when the style calls for it. The outdoor patio is ideal for days with warm weather. I've been here a few times, I really like their graphic design on their bottles and cans. The interior is so cute! My most recent experience (during corona times) involved rude customer service during pickup and under filled crowlers. Which was unfortunate because I was just trying to support a local brewery in these financially dicey times. Luckily- I reached out to them and I heard back from the taproom manager who was apologetic and helped to remedy the situation. This is one of my favorite places in the East Bay to wind down and chill. I particularly like the TGIF vibe on Fridays, but every day here is a great day to get together with friends and just kick back, except for Mondays​ when they're closed. Seating inside is limited, but there's plentiful outdoor seating which is a perfect option on a nice day. Plus, weather in Oakland is some of the best you'll get in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Any reason is a good reason to hang at Temescal Brewing, but one of my favorite reasons is the Okonomiyaki, which is​ a savory egg-based Japanese pancake​​. It's a very popular snack found throughout Japan and Asia. Of course, okonomiyaki​ goes well with a beer, hence their presence here. They're all made by a hardworking (pop-up) Japanese​ husband and wife team (accompanied by their adorable young daughter), who literally work non-stop serving an endless line of folks who are there just for their delicious homemade okonomiyaki. These are darn good! The okonomiyaki is individually made to order, so expect a wait. You can add various toppings such as mochi, mentaiko (cod roe), and mushrooms (which I got). On one visit, I waited 45 minutes on a beautiful day when apparently many many other people also came out to enjoy these pancakes and the beautiful weather. What I enjoy most about the okonomiyaki is the slightly crispy crust. Unfortunately, when I've had them at other places, they tend to come out soft, or even soggy. Not these! They're served both crisp and piping hot, straight from the griddle. They also had gyozas I was interested in trying, but quite frankly, I wasn't up for waiting another 45 minutes for them. They're definitely popular a popular item here too. If you're looking for a great place to chill and relax outdoors in the East Bay over a brew and maybe an okonomiyaki, put Temescal Brewing on your list! read more

I've been here so many times that I'm shocked I haven't left a review yet. Well, you can rest assured that this a very informed review then. I dined in a bunch pre-pandemic (and even attended their dog fashion show Halloween event hah), have dined in during the past year, and have done takeout from Temescal Brewing. Their highlights definitely include their spacious and vibrant outdoor seating area, delicious unique beers, and awesome beer can artwork. I'm honestly a sucker for their colorful beer labels. It's rare to stop by and not find a wait here these days. It's great that they have a rotating food truck on-site as well providing a range of different cuisines from Mexican to Russian. A few weeks ago, you get seated outside and line up inside at the bar to order (you have to line up in the same line for takeout too). Now that things have opened, there is a lot more seating closer together. It was totally open seating when we went last week, but I'm not sure if it's because we arrived after the food truck left. Parking can be pretty tricky around here, but we've had luck a few blocks away on the residential streets. read more
