We had a blast!! For the first talk with Scott over the phone, it was a very friendly and smooth sailing arrangement for a party of 8 with varied interests and tastes for Wine! We went as a big group, 3 couples and 2 single friends :) and not to mention 1 of us was underage ;) Since a couple of us had already been to Temecula earlier, we wanted our friends to visit everyone personal favorite wineries. Scott was so kind to adjust the tour to include almost all our favorite wineries, switched the starting point of our tour, got us the hummer (even though it was out of range from the normal setup) and also arranged vegetarian meal option as needed! So we got to visit 1) Thornton Winery (We got a personal winery tour and an extra tasting here shhh) 2) Oak Mountain (We had lunch here) 3) Danza del Sol (We got a off road hummer tour on the way to Danza) 4) Keyways Winery Even though we did all 4 wineries, Jeff, our amazing tour guide gifted us the Almond Champagne (Temecula local). We had a memorable, fun and thrilling ride in Temecula, taking the Legendary MAXX tour with driver/guide and all-round funny guy Jeff. Lucky for us it was a Tuesday and Temecula felt empty so we got the royal treatment and an unplanned personal tour of "Italy, Spain and France"-style wines and wineries! I've been wine tasting before in Temecula with a large group and the experience was great. However, taking this tour with Legendary Tours after purchasing the deal on Spreebird, I must say the experience was nothing short of EXCEPTIONAL!! My first contact was Scott, who set up the tour in a moments notice because I had a special guest coming from Arizona. He even made suggestions for overnight stay (for an additional charge) if we were interested after the tour. He kept the communication lines open. He called back when he said we would, and assured me that everything would be taken care of. Scott made arrangements for us to stay at the quaint, cozy, beautiful Inn at Churon and he made sure everything was ready by the time we arrived. I didn't have to drive around trying to find a place to stay in case we didn't want to drive back home after all the wine tastings. Jeff was our tour guide. He was attentive, efficient, very knowledgable, funny, and friendly! Unfortunately, we arrived late to begin our tour but he personalized it so that we didn't miss out on our plans for a great day. We had our lunch set up during first tasting, we had the yellow "bummer" Jeep hummer tour up the hill on the back road to enjoy the amazing view of the city and took pictures. As it started to get late, we picked up our free bottle of wine from one of the wineries, and made it back to the Inn at Churon where we had a welcome wine tasting. Our room was beautiful with a fire place, in-room jacuzzi and french doors leading out to a garden with a breathtaking view. The people were friendly, and our breakfast was wonderful the following morning. read more

We were having a wonderful, blissful time in Temecula wine country celebrating our anniversary. I had seen the deal on Travelzoo for a wine tasting tour which includes a picnic lunch, back country drives with amazing vistas, and a bottle of wine from one of the wineries visited. I was so excited. Yes, it is quite nice to have someone else do the driving in wine country. Yes, it is nice to have the tastings & lunch included in the price. Plus, free wine! Who am I to say no to that? But in the end, I was quite disappointed by the overall experience. This is definitely a glorified taxi. It was a pick up from the first winery, then drop off at the next, then the humjeep was off to shuttle the 2nd, 3rd and 4th group they had simultaneously booked for the 12pm tour. There was no "customization of tour based on preferences" - we were taken to 3 wineries that had been preselected. Quadruple booking of the tour (there is one vehicle they use for all of the groups) worked for them because the 3 wineries were right next door to each other! There was no survey of the group to see where we might like to go, or what our preferences were (white vs. red)` They were chosen based on their proximity to each other. The "back country tour" was a drive around the grapevines behind one of our stops, as though we were searching for parking. When we arrived at each of the wineries, I could almost hear the cows mooing as we were herded in, tasting coupons were thrust into our hands, and then the driver disappeared to pick up and drop off the next group. The hosts at each of the wineries were not thrilled to see our group enter the tasting room. (Probably because they bring 40+ people to them within 20 mins and then leave them there for at least an hour). Our "picnic lunch" was simple (sandwich, chips, pasta salad), but was nowhere near the picnic lunch at a winery I had envisioned in my head . At our 3rd stop, we were ushered out of the vehicle, and before we could go into taste, it was an immediate request for payment with no smiles. Then, we had to track them down so that we could get the tastings at the 3rd winery!! Our "bottle of wine from one of wineries we visited" was a 3 dollar bottle from Napa! The last time I checked we didn't drive to Napa in the humjeep! But, we met some great couples at least, and got a few wonderful pictures while we were waiting 45 minutes after our lunch at the 2nd winery for the giant taxi to pick us up.......because they shuttled the group after us before picking us up. oops. The wineries we visited were not our favorites, I think I had a bad taste in my mouth from the service...maybe I was just spoiled by our Sunrider Jeep Tour the day before..... read more

I actually am a woman who works at the San Diego Union Tribune......Far from a competitor! I went on this tour with a group of my girlfriends about a year ago and the whole "tour" was ridiculous! When I go on a "wine tour" I actually want to drink wine..........Not climb up a mountain in a hummer while being told about the different plants of Temecula! What a terrible experience. Got a deal through travelzoo. Three different drivers, throughout the afternoon, dumping us off at wineries. Rushing us to finish tasting. Seriously overbooked. We were supposed to have a deli lunch, instead received a super market package of crackers, cheese, and drippy meat. Never did receive our bottle of wine. This is an excellent tour. We did a bachelorette party for my little sister and she loved it. There were ten of us girls and we all fit comfortably in the Hummer. George really took care of us from the beginning of planning he event to the end. We visited four wineries with six tastings at each place. The lunch we had at the Cougar winery was very good. Like many of the other reviewers, George doesn't rush you, he really makes the tour enjoyable. I Highly recommend this tour. The price $99 per person is actually very reasonable considering we each had a total of 20 wine tastings, lunch, and pick-up and drop-off all included. This is no ordinary tour. This is the Cadillac of all Temecula tours. George couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. He never rushes you to get through your tastings. George also tells you about the wineries as well as the surrounding areas. He treated everyone in our group to a chocolate covered strawberry in celebration of Valentines Day. Then he took us in the Bummer (Hummer) to the top of a Temecula hill accessible only by a 4 runner, and showed us a view that is beyond description. We brought friends with us that are from the Sonoma wine country that throughly enjoyed the wineries as well as the ride in the Bummer and George as our guide. We found the wineries to be welcoming even when there was a rush of people. If you are looking for the best 4-5 hour ride to the wineries and Temecula hilltop choose Temecula To The Maxx. George was our driver and guide and I can't say enough good things about him and the service he provides. In my opinion this is the best tour of Temecula and the best value for your money. Jeff, and his girlfriend Monica were Very hospitable, dropped us at a 4th winery ( at our cost) and came back to take us back to hotel. Jeff and Monica were willing to continue wine tasting with us or offered us a bottle of wine. They were willing to take us out for dinner with them. We couldn't have asked for better hosts! Jeff and Scott were a pleasure to work with. Due to mine and my friend's schedules we were unable use our voucher within the allotted time frame. Prior to expiration I called and left a message to see if Legendary Tours would extend the date so we are all able to go. Scott called me within 24 hours of me leaving a message and said we will make the accommodation. On the day of our tour, all of us were late but Jeff was totally cool with it and very nice and personable. It was the six of us, and we were the only ones in the hummer jeep for the tour which was so cool! Had a great time on the outback excursion and wanted to go to the third winery but all of us were already toasted so we opted for the bottle of wine instead. My husband and 2 friends enjoyed a wine tour yesterday and had a wonderful time. Jeff was our driver/tour guide and he made the entire event so fun and interesting. We were lucky enough to get Damnit Debbie at Oak Mountain Winery - she was such a hoot, so fun and very informative. We all liked the wine, feel, and atmosphere at Oak Mountain Winery the best; we were disappointed in the service and most of the wines at Frangipani Estate Winery - they certainly didn't have the friendliness of everyone at Oak Mountain Winery. Ordered this tour through Groupon. The driver picked us up at our hotel and told us we would be the only one on the tour....kinda weird but it was actually kinda nice. We hit three wineries that were all pretty good. They drive a oversized Humvee and they take you all the way to the top of the mountains with an awesome view of Temecula. We just had a girls weekend and used Legendary Tours as our wine tour experience. We were very excited to do the back country tour in the Hummer, but unfortunately it rained that day so we ended up using the shuttle. Jeff was so flexible with our group of 11 that he went out of his way to make our day special. He listened to what we liked and didn't like about wine and found the right fit of vineyards for our group. This tour was amazing! Historical and so noteworthy! Every accommodation was made for us, a few dates we were scheduled for didn't work our because of rain or our mix up, Jeff was understanding. My wife and I did this on Aug.17, two wineries with lunch and the off-road trek with the humvee. Jeff was our guide and we had a fantastic time! He entertained us with his knowledge of the area and the wineries themselves and, tossed in a couple of jokes. It was a Spreebird smokin hot deal and even tho it had an expiration, Scott, the owner was happy to extend it. (smart business guys! ) SO not only did he extend it we had a very specific date we wanted to go, and even though they normally require 4 min. to take the hummer "TANK" out, but accommodated us with a private tour! nonetheless. These are not your typical Temecula wine tour. This is where the locals go.. and then Jeff, our awesome, very informative driver, 4-wheeled us up the hill in the max hummer ! awesome to see the sights from up there! This was a real eye opener.. ok after few glasses of wine it was time to close them too.. but it was so unique. Was very happy to have stumbled on Legendary Tours back road adventure. Overall a great experience. First of all I found a good deal through Zozi, and I thought it was a good price for a 4 hour tour including lunch. I called at 6pm on a Saturday and left a message at the office, stating in my message that I did not expect a call back until Monday given the time of my message, and Scott called me back within 1/2 hour! He was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. I booked my tour immediately for myself & my boyfriend. Because we didn't want to have to worry about wine tasting and then driving, I inquired and Scott co-ordinated a pickup and drop off at our hotel in town, which was much appreciated! The tour itself was very enjoyable, it was just us and one other couple, we really enjoyed our tour guide Jeff. He was fun, down to earth, and had some good information about the area, and even a joke or two for good measure. The Hum-Jeep was super fun, we even saw a deer on the backcountry part! We went to 3 wineries, and I really enjoyed both Oak Mountain and Leoness. Also, lunch was simple but satisfying and delicious, some tasty deli sandwiches and chips. The hum jeep was definitely a unique experience - not your average wine tour. And made for a really cool drive up for some beautiful vistas of the valley. Jeff and Scott did a nice job of keeping us separate from the large bachelorette group they had booked, so we could have a more intimate experience. I had been wine tasting with my girlfriend in Temecula before, but this was out first wine tour. We met our driver/guide George at one of the wineries where the hummer was waiting and ready to go. The tour group we rode with was small and relaxed, wine was great, and George was very knowledgeable of the area. The off-road experience with the view of the entirety of Temecula, surrounding areas, and Lake Skinner was also one-of-kind. We loved our wine country tour! Our driver, Jeff was amazing - he let us customize our itinerary and offered some great facts about the wine country. We took a hum jeep, which by the way, is 1 out of 5 in the world and toured the back county of Temecula and drove the beautiful countryside and enjoyed an exceptional view. I purchased the tour for family when they came out for a visit. After their tour I was thanked over and over again for blessing them with this incredible wine tour. They all had been on many wine tours before; many experiences, including Italy, and they told me that Legendary Tours wine tour was by far the best they had ever been on.
