1 Star -- Filthy, Corrupt, and Abusive -- DO NOT Shop Here. Go to Al-Zaytouna in Murrieta Instead. This is by far the most appalling, unsanitary, and mismanaged halal store in the region. From my first visit to Temecula Halal Market, I knew something was seriously wrong -- and it only got worse with time. When I first came to the store shortly after it opened, I heard extremely loud shouting from the back. It was so aggressive and disturbing that I stopped in my tracks and thought, "Is this how this business operates?" That moment set the tone for everything else I would experience at this place: chaos, disrespect, and complete lack of professionalism. Since then, I've given the place more chances than it ever deserved. And every visit has been a disaster: * Expired products * Cheese and herbs infested with insects * Rotten food on the shelves * I even once found a dead rat between the aisles * Refrigerators reeking of decay The worst part of this store is the owner, Ramon -- a man who is completely unfit to run a food business. He is rude, dishonest, and deeply exploitative. Prices are often missing from items, and he makes them up at the register. I have been overcharged multiple times. When questioned, he becomes defensive and aggressive. What's more disturbing is how Ramon treats his employees. I've witnessed him barking orders, belittling staff, and standing around doing nothing while others run themselves into the ground. The young woman who works the front counter is the only reason anything functions at all -- she works relentlessly, under pressure, with no respect or support. And yet, she's treated like she's invisible. There is one decent human being in that store: the cook, Amar. Unlike Ramon, Amar actually cares. He's focused, attentive to cleanliness, and shows pride in his work. He's the only reason some people even tolerate this place. But the truth is: no amount of effort from Amar or the hardworking cashier can cover up the dysfunction and filth that Ramon has created. Bottom Line: This store is a public health concern, a financial scam, and a toxic workplace. It should be reported and shut down. If you want fresh halal meat, clean facilities, and honest service, go to Al-Zaytouna Halal Butchery in Murrieta. It's night-and-day compared to this disaster. Thank God for a local market you get all your Mediterranean goodies. This is a market and a place to get a meal to go and fresh meat. I purchased some of my Mediterranean Yummies. They have many Persian items, and they have a frozen section to get some of your favorites. I have not had any Turkish coffee in years and I've missed it so much. But I didn't know I could get it local. So today I bought Turkish coffee with cardamom, ground fresh. They grind it right in front of you and the scent was DELICIOUS!! I bought a small pot to make coffee for 1 or 2 (Turkish coffee. ) And I used it tonight and I love it! It cleans so easily. I attached a photo so you could see and it was only $4.99!! It has a great handle, so it doesn't get hot. They even had my favorite green cracked olives and a large jar! I love to drain (save 1cup) these and soak them in water overnight. Then I pour them back into the original jar. I add fresh olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon juice. And then gobbled these up in the next few weeks.!! so good with boiled quail eggs! I purchased Lebanese olive oil, which I can't wait to use .... Also known as Liquid Gold. I got a beef kebab wrap to go and it had tahini sauce, pickles, and lettuce, and it was very good! But the BREAD! Now that was INCREDIBLE! I think they make it fresh. It was so very good. I would buy that to go next time. The owners are very nice and helpful. Been to this market for hard to find Middle Eastern food products. Their sandwich/meat counter is now up and functioning. Had a beef shawarma sandwich which was fantastic! Really tender, juicy beef with delicious sauce rolled up in a grilled pita. Falafel were quite sizable, crunchy on the outside and light, fluffy on the inside. Prices are quite reasonable. You can call a head to put in large orders for bread. He bakes everything fresh. They have a great selection of spices, dairy, canned goods, juices, sweets and snacks, even halal marshmallows. But the bread and meat are obviously must haves! They have some cooking necessities and some pretty tea sets for shi (tea). Today I stayed for lunch! I got the chicken kebab combo.
