    Beef ribs from specialty meats

Same butcher - Now the owner. It's a community meat market with butcher services in the back. - Price is about a buck a pound more than Albertsons, but the proof is the quality of the cuts of meat. - Finicky carnivores shop at this market. - If you're cooking for special occasions shop here and get great advice. - Service oriented

    Meatball Sub and potato salad!

I absolutely love this place. I wish I knew about it earlier but I've only been a customer for the last few months. Best deal in the whole world is there meatball sub for $6.99. Great customer service and they even gave me a tour my first time there when I was inquiring about their specialty meats. Highly recommend this place #HiddenGem

Hands down the best butcher shop in north county!!!! Audi is the bomb he has prepped so many styles of meats for me it's unbelievable. Everyone is knowledgeable and so friendly and helpful. I tell everyone about this little gem. The quality of the meat is incomparable. Yes you might save $$$$ going to Costco but good luck getting the quality you get at specialty meats. Today added to my 15 lb brisket that I will smoke and Audi like I said prepped for me to perfection for my family bbq I got an array of sausages

Great people working the front . Love the burritos if you can snag one? I just wished they would use the yellow cheese in the burritos .

My fiancé and I met Michael's wife at a farmers market in Vista the night before, and I was honestly pretty skeptical about trying biltong at a farmers market in the US because, for some reason, it always tastes better in South Africa. Well, we went to the stand and every piece was perfect. I fell in love with it, and Michael's wife told me to come to the shop the next day, where we could meet Michael and get a tour. I seldom write reviews unless it's important to me, but I was so happy we found YEBO- unreal beef with flavors that melt in your mouth and live there. The only downside is that I didn't buy more on my first visit. I'm literally kicking myself because I'm sitting in an office without any more biltong. I plan to make it a weekly weekend trip to come down, and this time, I'll get more than a pound of beef, though I doubt that will be enough. Also, big shoutout to Michael for introducing me to the non-Nando's Peri-Peri because I've been using that for everything. On a side note, if you don't mind a little kick for your palate, the peri peri biltong might be at the top of my list of favorite beef snack flavors.

First came across this vendor earlier this year at Encinitas Street Fair. We love checking out beef…read morejerky samples but this booth was not marketing it as "beef jerky' but Biltong. It's a South African dried meat that's air cured. We got the beef stick version and the sliced version. It became an addicting snack. It's premium meats, thin and fatty. Finally had the chance to make it to the Store. Met the owner and creator, Michael. Super friendly nice guy. He took us in the back to show us how it's made. There were two rooms. One can be considered the wet lab where meats were marinated and prep. The second room was the dry room where meats were hanged to dry. We couldn't remember which one we purchased at the fair and they had new packaging. Michael let us try samples and we ended up getting 4 different kinds. They will be celebrating two years on Saturday September 27! Be sure to come support. You can also find them weekly at the north county farmers market.

Wayde (I hope thats spelled correctly) was so sweet when we walked in and gave us the run down and made some great suggestions. If you plan on sitting down to eat, I highly recommend getting there early because seating is limited but also its a great spot to grab and go to the beach! We got the DBL (as first timers) with the beef fat fries. The flavor profile and portions are SOOO worth it. Be wise and come to The Wise Ox

I get that smash burgers are all the rage these days, but if a burger patty spends as much time on the second side as it did on the first, it's not crustified; it's as tough and juiceless as jerky. an abundance of aging primals are on display at the WISE OX. when they're cut into steaks, the trimmings are ground for burgers. a not-particularly-wise cow died for our sins (so said the family's vegan son who begged off lunch). honor that and cook the meat properly. to not do so is beyond sacrilegious. if I told the meat cutter (aka the "butcher") I was going to use the dry-aged Rib Eyes or New Yorks he'd just carved up to make jerky, he'd be horrified. so, why isn't he raging at the guy on the grill doing that to our burgers? the BEEF FAT FRIES (aka Tallow Fried Fries) still have great flavor, but are still way, way, way too salty. check the photo, and count the visible salt crystals if your cardiologist's on speed dial.

The lines were super long, they didn't have enough checkers, and we didn't see their self check out until we left. Bummer. Also we didn't noticed until we got home but they never gave us the sale price for the milk! The meats were a little more expensive than NG. And we didn't get veggies or fruit bc nothing was really good or on sale. We did grill the meats at home and it was delicious! The carne asada was super good... may be better than NG. The chicken was comparable. The tres leches cake was delicious. The ceviche with shrimp and octopus was amazing. Ceviche was definitely better than NG. The store was big, and we felt a little pricier than NG. But we felt NG had a bigger hot foods area. We probably don't need to go the extra mile to Vallarta and stick with NG.
