Let me start by saying I don't give five stars unless everything is absolutely perfect but this place did not disappoint. Spacious outdoor seating, friendly staff, the menu had great varieties without being overwhelming and since it was Sunday they also offered brunch. I hear it's under new management now but this is the only experience I've ever had so if you've been before and it wasn't good I would say try it again. I had the fish and chips. The fish was crispy and flavorful. Not overly cooked. The chips were some of the best I've had. They weren't thin and crispy but more like a then cut potato wedge. I really enjoyed them. The onion rings were average but unless they are freshly battered and cut I'm hard to impress. My wife ordered off the brunch menu and since she cannot have the home fries they were more than willing to sub in a biscuit and gravy. The gravy was wonderful! The French toast was pretty good. We will definitely go back. I've heard very good things about the wings, the Ruben and a few other items. If you're looking for a place to eat in the Tega Cay area check out this hidden gem. I really want to like this place, but have had multiple bad experiences in a row. The staff is friendly, but the food and atmosphere are lacking. The last two visits the dining area smelled like smoke, as they have an outdoor bar and the door is open to the dining area. The fish and chips were hard to eat as the fish was over fried and under seasoned. The onion rings must have been cooked at a low temperature because they were very greasy. My wife had the broccoli cheddar soup and it was so salty it was hard to eat. It seems they have given up on the kitchen, as the bar was full on a Saturday evening, but we were one of three tables occupied in the dining area. read more

A very poor first impression. I sat at the bar on the patio, I waited 10 minutes For the lady bartender to finish her conversation with a patron. I finally made eye contact & she asked me what I wanted & I responded with menu. She handed me a 'temporary menu' which is nothing like the menu they have on their web site. When I asked about their fish tacos she responded that they have a new 'executive chef' and as a result they were using their temporary menu, I had other questions about the menu but she was so busy explaining what beers they had on tap to another waitress. Tega Cay Tavern, once was 20 20. New owners, actually Brandy and the gentleman, can't remember his name,they both worked there and bought the place. Unfortunately, they are loosing ground. No more Sunday beer special and they can't get the games on their outside TVs. My daughters pulled pork sandwich was half fat. We showed Brandy, no response. She's actually quite crabby like everything annoys her. Our bone in wings definitely don't taste the same, loosing that smoke flavor. The rest was ok, thus the 2 stars. I have to say we have been coming here for years, but I think we're done. Ordered through DoorDash two days in a row. Super fast and we so appreciated that, it's why we ordered the second time - both times we were very hungry. Fish and chips -almost inedible. The two people who ordered it said it was shoe leather and couldn't finish it and were still hungry. I've never seen them not finish their fish and chips from anywhere else. Another review now I see also commented the same. The Reuben was ok, not grilled crispy so the bread was extra soggy. Chicken Alfredo "ok"'- seemed like out of a jar. Don't waste your time and money. This watering hole is a favorite haunt for locals. What it lacks in ambience and edible food it tries unsuccessfully to compensate for with live music on most weekends. The food menu will leave you with many choices to avoid. Especially reprehensible is their Turkey Club. It consists of three slices of wonder bread, slices of process cheese and a mystery meat that is peculiar for turkey in that it's pink in color. We came for the cinnamon crunch french toast, which is no longer served. We were told they just "can't seem to figure out how to remove it from the website." The food was gross, cheap, Sysco fair. It was Super Bowl and I was doing great on a pool, so I treated my family, a friend's family and my cousin. After dinner we ordered slices of cake and they were filled with mold. With the restaurant business I understand stuff happens: I wasn't mad. I privately called the owner over and showed him and he says it's fine. I told him the kids can't eat mold. Love having a local restaurant that has a great outdoor dining area and live music! We followed directions and asked the hostess inside the restaurant for a table outside. We were seated at a 6 top but those are really the only size available. A little bit of time passed till we placed drink orders and we enjoyed the early evening breeze as we sipped. A previous visit we had ordered the pulled pork nachos so we tried them again. They were even better and more sizable. The band started to play and it was fun getting to kind of be at a concert (all of our summer PNC tickets were cancelled, thx COVID). By the time we left the outdoor area tables were full. We dedicated to try 2020 Tavern, very disappointed! The table was dirty.. Service was very slow and unprepared to answer questions on on tap beer and cocktail drinks. The waitress was very slow getting drink refills after requests. Took 45 mins to get food to our table after we ordered. The fried foods were over fried and not one dish stood out for a reason to come back and give them a second chance. The tap beer was warm. I have had several of 2020's entrees over the COVID-19 period and have enjoyed them all. The selections are fantastic and offer a wide selection. My most recent was the Gyro plate which was delicious and more than I could eat. A great atmosphere and revamp of both the interior and exterior made the experience very enjoyable. Last time I was there was a couple of weeks ago. We were there with another couple. Very slow service, but we were having fun with our friends. Everyone but me received their entree. My entree was not served until 30 minutes later. Everyone else was done, and they had to wait while I gobbled down my food. Most restaurants would have comped my meal. They comped me 10% off, so I saved $1.50. Tonight it was just my wife and I. No wait, seated promptly. Took drink order. Took 45 minutes to get my drink. Every other part of the order also took about 30 minutes. We were there over 2 hours. I really like the place but I get so upset multiple times during the visit from the slow service that I doubt I'll return. I noticed some people at other tables were walking up to the bar to get drink refills instead of waiting. I do not know what their problem is. I am guessing that they have expanded the outdoor seating so much during Covid that they simply do not have the kitchen capacity to cook sufficient food. But that is just a guess. read more

I have only had a couple meals from here and they've all been take out do you the Covid situation. The smoked wings on the appetizer menu are some of the best in Fort Mill and Tega Cay. The takeout service was very efficient. My food was ready and the order was complete with nothing missing which seems to be a big problem for a lot of restaurants around here. So happy that the 2020 Tavern is up and running! The owners go above and beyond to ensure customers are happy. Was there one time when the weather was great and there was outdoor seating only. Large outdoor area, by the way! They had more people than tables, so they started bringing tables out from the inside to accommodate the people waiting. In just the short time they've been open, the service has greatly improved. You may wait for food but that's ok as long as the drinks are quick and the food is fresh! Great variety of options on the menu, there's nothing I wouldn't recommend. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, and I hope to see the establishment thrive. Food was decent. I had the nachos and someone else had the Cajun salmon and liked it. Beer is too expensive. My craft beer was 6.75 served in a plastic cup. I can get cheaper at the local breweries here so that is a deal breaker for me. Service was mediocre.
