Arrived with my brother and SIL a bit late following a high school musical, and the kitchen was only open a few more minutes. We got served drinks right away and our server got our food order in immediately. Great food! Our server was so sweet. This is a go to for my brother when he is in town visiting his daughter. Although there is a good amount of time between visits the regular bartender remembers him and where he is from. My brother and I had pizza rolls. My SIL had loaded tater tots. Didn't even know this place existed. I drive by frequently and it's hidden in a small shared shopping center with plenty of parking. They have some drink specials, appetizers, entrees, tons of beer. It's definitely a sports bar. Place where you can watch the game. The place is clean. It's a little dark on the inside, the servers are nice. DB's Tavern is incredibly accommodating! I thought my order might be complicated, but the waiter made it feel simple and easy. The salmon burger I had was juicy and perfectly seasoned. The bun was warm, lightly buttered, and complemented the flavors beautifully. The onion rings were massive, and dipping them in a teriyaki sauce added a unique touch. The drinks were generously portioned, and even though they were customized, they were packed with flavor. I love that this spot stays open a bit later than most places in South Charlotte--everything else seems to close early! We generally like DBs but have been disappointed several times. Tonight was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. Sometimes we eat in but on this Saturday night we knew they would be busy by 6:30 (and pretty noisy) so we decided to order some takeout. My wife loves their Apple Pecan Salad with steak added to it though she often gets other dishes as well. I like several things as well but tonight I wanted some chicken tenders with fries and we decided to split an order of their onion rings. They seem to have a problem filling orders for salad with a meat added to it. They have forgotten to add the steak to my wife's order several times. Enough that we should know better and should ask to review the food before we leave with it. They left the steak off again tonight and being extra hungry tonight, she was more disappointed than usual. My chicken tenders and fries were fine except that I had to give my wife half my chicken to make up for her NOT getting her steak. Kinda hard to screw up chicken tenders but they do a good job with them. Cooked properly and still warm and crisp when we got home. Thumbs up. The onion rings...Well, see the attached picture for an idea of what we got. We almost always order their onion rings with their spicy dipping sauce. Usually, we get our fill and there are several leftover. Tonight, we each got 2.5 moderately sized rings and none of the dipping sauce. Usually we each get 3 good sized rings and have 3-4 leftover. And there's usually more than enough dipping sauce. I still like them and generally recommend them but if you are getting your order to go, CHECK THE FOOD before you leave. DB's is a great little neighborhood tavern! We stopped by on a Sunday around lunch time to grab some food. We didn't get drinks this time but I can see how it would be a fun hangout spot later in the evening. They have a full bar and some bar games off to the side like shuffle board and darts. I got the DB's burger and it was not very good, unfortunately. The burger patty was thick, dry, and not seasoned at all. I actually added salt & pepper to the burger which I've never done before. The bun was bready and the unseasoned meat with the flavorless dry bun created a very lack luster bite. Even the ranch lacked a lot of flavor. The pasta salad was tasty and the homemade chips were crunchy. My husband enjoyed the wings. I think if we go back, I'll try a different menu item next time. read more

While in the area, it was quite difficult to locate a restaurant that stayed open late. We happened to come across DB Tavern and they did not disappoint. We arrived 10 minutes prior to the kitchen closing, the staff was still very accommodating. We ordered honey teriyaki chicken tenders with sweet potatoes fries and garlic Parmesan and honey sriracha lime wings. The chicken tenders and fries were a 9/10 The garlic Parmesan wings 6/10 The honey sriracha wings 8.5/10 The bartender made our drinks just right. This place is but isn't good. But when we were here it really hit the spot. We came here after my friend's wedding looking to keep the good vibes flowing. I wasn't really in a drinking mood, but the greasy bar food was exactly what I was looking for. We got an assortment of appetizers that weren't good, but in a much more real sense they were really good. If you are anything like me and choose a restaurant for the appetizer (and specifically the pretzel) this is the place for you. We got the giant pretzel and it was delicious! It really was huge! There was also a good size queso to go with the pretzel. I got the small nachos for my meal and it looks small, but there is plenty to it! There are a lot of good toppings. There were a few bites that were a little salty, but plenty of food and toppings on all layers, so every bite was tasty! My husband enjoyed his burger and fries. Our waitress was busy and helpful getting us everything we needed! We thought the restaurant was just a little crowded, but there were some large groups there, so I was not sure if they were moved, or if this was the normal arrangement. Fun neighborhood watering hold that has great bites. I met my daughter after her work here. We had a plate of nachos and a small plate of wings. The nachos were decent (too much lettuce, not enough cheese). The wings were great (meaty and hot, plenty of blue cheese). At 3pm on a weekday, the place was quiet but we were well served. Dropped in here late night with a large group with the intent on grabbing a drink and maybe some small bar bites. Good lord was I surprised at what we found. The food here was delicious. Their menu is standard bar food but man does it hit. I ordered the wings, hard, and asked for their hottest sauce and also got a side of fries. The fries were slightly thicker than Wendy's, perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The wings blew me out of the water- I was not expecting them to be so good! The hot sauce was one that built and had me feeling it by wing #3. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back to snag the wings again. Ordered our drinks and an appetizer to start. The appetizer was loaded tots, and I gotta say they were not very loaded. Light on the cheese and the bacon was under everything. Now that doesn't mean they weren't delicious, the tots were crispy and when one did have cheese it was amazing. I ordered the raven burger which on paper should have been amazing, however it was a bit dry and even with the bbq sauce, a bit bland. Onion rings for my side were very good. Wife ordered the Caprese chicken sandwich and was a bit disappointed. The flavor was good but could have used more greens. It came with one single, I'm assuming, basil leaf. Service was weird. They had 3 young men who seemed to be working the host stand. They had 1 waitress taking care of all the tables. I understand that she was probably the only one able to serve drinks but the others could have done food orders, refill waters or bus tables or other things to help. If you are in Charlotte, DON'T patronize DB Tavern. They don't have enough food available for their guests. We came to h the restaurant to watch the NCAA Championship Football game. We were told that at 8:30 pm, the entire restaurant ONLY had six (6) chicken wings. ONLY SIX CHICKEN WINGS!! WTF?!! That is piss poor planning by management. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why this restaurant that has wings on its menu would ONLY have six chicken wings total on a night where a sports bar is hosting a national championship game. Piss freaking poor. At some point, we ordered drinks. My friends and I ordered old fashions. When we specified the bitters we wanted in our old fashions, the waitress told us that the restaurant didn't have any bitters. Of course, she was wrong. The manager had to come correct this clearly erroneous information. DB's did have bitters. The waitress just didn't know what the bar did and did not serve. To top it off, when I later asked for a dessert, I was told that the kitchen closed. This was at 10:15 pm on a night where the guests were eating and this place was to remain open for another four hours. Here's the thing: I KNOW that they were preparing desserts at 10:15 at night. Those desserts had been prepared earlier in the day which means that all DB's had to do was to cut the freaking dessert, put it on a plate, and bring it out to me. This restaurant sucks!! COMPLETELY!! There's no need for my dining experience to have been so bad. Do yourself a favor and go around the corner to Carolina Ale. At least there, the staff knows what the restaurant has and offers, and they don't run out of food on the nights they should expect a larger than normal sized crowd. read more

I needed place to meet a friend after work on Friday. DB's Tavern was a great meeting spot for us both. I'm happy to say we both loved it. First, they have great drink specials and menu full of standard bar classics. I got the chicken nachos as an appetizer and I was so full I couldn't order a proper entree. We got two buckets of beer and had a great night. Later on, I order the brownie sundae. I would pass on this desert Yelpers. The brownies is cake-like but dry (over baked). The ice cream helps but only slightly. I recommend two changes. 1. Get a fudge-like brownie and 2. switch the chocolate syrup to a hot fudge. Our server Lauren was spot on:attentive, helpful, and prompt. The music was only slightly too loud, but we loved the dining room and outdoor seating. It's great for a Friday night hang. read more

I love this neighborhood pub. Friendly service, great wings, amazing prices and a warm & friendly environment. We come here often. Standard pub fare - wings, burgers, flatbreads, appetizers, etc. we love the wings. The tater tots and onion rings and fries are all crispy and delicious. A great spot to watch sports. Don't come if Alabama is playing football. They were slammed busy today at 5pm due to basketball and the service didn't suffer for it. Everyone knows everyone, especially if you're a regular. They had an array of food options, as well as beer options and reasonably prices. Pains me to write this review as we love going to DBs and have always had a great time. Last few times however, the service and the food has been bad. Service: 1) we had to go get our own side plates for appetizers 2) I had to go track down our (very sweet but slow) waitress to get the drink QR code after waiting too long 3) we also had to go and get our own silverware after our appetizers were getting cold Food: 1) mozz sticks barely cooked and tasted freezer burned 2) salmon sandwich was nasty. If you're up for different, the salmon bacon avocado panini is both fresh and heavy (IYKYK). The restaurant was empty when we arrived but filled up quickly. There appeared to be plenty of waitresses/servers but the service was sooooo slow. Also noticed we were charged a fee for using a credit card to pay. There are a couple other restaurants in the same shopping center and parking was at a premium.
