Service was great! Food was excellent! Bar vibes but also fine for families to stop in for lunch/dinner. A bit noisy but my chicken salad made up for that! They have the good ranch too read more

Freemore Tavern - Chicken Tender Salad - Sports Bars Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

I stopped by Fremore Tavern today around 1 PM on a Sunday, and it was such a chill little vibe. It wasn't crowded at all, just a few people inside, which made it perfect for a relaxed lunch. The space itself is a cute, no frills neighborhood tavern. Nothing over the top or flashy, just a solid, comfortable spot to hang out. They have plenty of seating inside and a small outdoor area that's actually really charming. Parking was easy when we went, though I could see the lot getting tight if the place is packed. It's also within walking distance of other spots in the area, which makes it convenient if you're bar hopping or exploring nearby. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered the chicken nachos and they were GOOD. The cheese was flavorful, everything tasted fresh, and the portion was solid. They really hit the mark on classic tavern comfort food. The menu is exactly what you want from a place like this. Wings, burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and even pasta. My friend ordered pasta and enjoyed it as well. It's that dependable, satisfying lineup you can't go wrong with. I didn't order any drinks this time, but the bar setup looked fully stocked and ready for a crowd. Service was quick and easy. Our server was really cool, friendly, and attentive without hovering. Bathrooms were clean, which always matters. Overall, I'd give it a strong 4 out of 5. It's not trying to be a high end dining experience, and it doesn't need to be. It's a solid neighborhood tavern with good food, good service, and an easygoing vibe. I would definitely come back and recommend it if you're in the area and want something casual and reliable. read more

We went on a Sunday and we were able to get a huge table outside for our party of 10 on a football Sunday which was amazing!!! They had all the football games on different tv's both inside and outside. I got a beer and the buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was very good! She gave us a beer tower of water since our party was so big- very smart!!! Our server was nice and attentive. The restaurant, including the bathroom was clean and there was a changing table in the bathroom for my baby (you surprisingly don't see these everywhere!) read more

Seems like a great atmosphere for going out or just for lunch like I did. I got the Buffalo chicken Caesar with fries. While I guess it's not the best measure of how good a restaurant is, it was pretty solid and the fries were crispy. Lots of flavor. It seemed like it'd be a good place to drink as well! With the way they do their beer buckets. Service was fine nothing remarkable. Would love to come again on like a Friday. 3.6/5 read more

Overall a great sports bar with ample amounts of TVs to catch any game. Swung by for the NCAA tournament and they had the sound for the games on (huge plus imo), great beer specials and very affordable food. Sandwich was delicious and the salads were huge! Friendly and attentive wait staff as well. 2 great covered patios with heaters, TVs and plenty of outdoor space. Whether you're going for an event, to catch a game or just a casual lunch/dinner in Wesley area - it's worth checking out! read more

Love this sports bar! They have a free parking lot. They have tons of TVs inside and outside. Great drink selection. For food our group ordered the fried pickles and buffalo chicken dip which were both great and 20 wings: sweet chili, garlic parmesan, sriracha, mango habanero. All the wings were delicious!! Definitely would return when in the Charlotte area. read more

Came with 2 friends (24 years old) and got turned away from ordering because one of us doesn't have a North Carolina ID. Poorly run and unprofessional. Food service proceeded to take 2.5 hours read more

I had the chicken egg roll. Would not recommend; more roll than filling. The dipping sauce was nice, but those were not enjoyable. Now my onion rings . So good and crunchy and a good slice of onion. The winner for me was the wings. My goodness. Fried to perfection. I will definitely revisit for wings and a cold beer. read more

Went to this spot on a whim and it gave what it needed to give. True tavern vibes with plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. There are TVs all over the room so you can watch any sports game there. The service was great, and the food didn't take long once ordered. I just ordered appetizers this night and had a couple beers. They do have different drink specials every day of the week. Food was tasty and filling. Nice little spot in the Charlotte area. read more

I am a regular here and the staff is always great! I LOVE the chicken nachos and the buffalo chicken quesadilla but honestly I've never had any bad food here and it's one of my favorite bars. They have so many TVs to watch all the sports on and they have great daily specials. read more

We were headed by for a quick sandwich but we ended up sitting at a table perfectly angled to see the two top games of today! Eagles vs. Commanders and Panthers vs. Vikings. We got all our drinks fast and cold and all our food hot and fast! We tried the onion rings and the Sriracha hot wings. I think these are the best wings I have had so far in Charlotte (I know, but trust me) crispy, moist, meaty and dripping with glistening sausy flavor goodness! The onion rings seemed to be breaded in a special seasoned batter that sets them apart from others and they were crispy with a tender onion ring inside. My new favorite spot to watch the football, great crowd, affordable drinks and tasty snacks! I would love to see them expand the dessert menu to have a few treats to celebrate if our team won. read more

Decided to venture out of the sea of mediocrity otherwise known as the Ballantyne sports bar scene, and boy am I glad I did as Freemore Tavern single-handedly renewed my faith in the sports bar scene here in Charlotte. The service was quick, efficient and friendly from start to finish, including the manager sitting down to get my thoughts and actually listening to my opinions, which was a refreshing change from the typical manager drive by's at most places. The wings were nice and hot and full of flavor, and they were also nice and big, not puny like some other places here in town. And last but not least, they are actually embracing being a sports bar as they are committed to playing sound and not generic music during games this football season. Yeah, it's kind of a haul from Ballantyne, but given that it's only a short quarter mile walk from BofA stadium, we will definitely be making this our pregame spot before the Heels game Labor Day weekend, and I fully expect to make the trip back more than a few Saturdays this season, as this place has the potential to be the "cheers bar" I have been searching for. Very well done, Freemore Tavern, and welcome to the Five Star Club! read more

I went during lunchtime on a business lunch and it wasn't too packed! We were attended to promptly with a smile and eager attitude. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad! It comes in a big mixing bowl with a generous portion of buffalo chicken. The salad was good and refreshing, with fresh lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. Salad 8/10 The ambiance was chill! This place was pretty empty for a bar on a Friday night around 9-10pm We decided to sit outside which was peaceful but they definitely need to have some fans blowing for when it's hotter during the day The food was pretty good for bar food (6.5/10). I enjoyed the veggie quesadilla (and they have cholula for hot sauce ) Good service - staff was on top of it (but maybe because we were the only ones sitting outside?) read more

I usually would not get a shrimp po boy at a place like this but I'm glad I did. It was the Thursday lunch special for 12$. The sandwich overall was decent, but the sauce is what made it. It was spicy and bold with every bite. Fried were typical. Not bad for a lunch spot. Our waitress was quick and efficient. Definitely seems like a night spot to drink at but the place was cool for a lunch. read more

I truly don't leave reviews but I've given this spot a chance twice and it failed miserably both times. I am a bartender myself and both of my experiences while being months apart for my boyfriend and I were quite despicable. We are huge fans of southwestern egg rolls and had high hopes even though we should've learned the first time. We had different waitresses each time and I can't lie, food is awesome especially for the quantity given. Although the service is very negative and bottom line amateurish. My boyfriend nor I still believe they gave him the correct dark spirit but they did have the kindness to remove it from the bill hence he didn't take but a sip because real motherf***ckers know and I wouldn't recommend them. That's it, that's all. read more

I wanted to bring to your attention a very disappointing and unprofessional experience I had at your establishment recently. There was an employee who was incredibly rude. Approximately 20 minutes before closing, a woman wearing a grey sweatshirt with "Freemore Tavern" written on it, rang a bell given from her from behind the bar. She rang the bell several times, signaling that the restaurant was closed yelling "we're closed." Although, several customers were in the restaurant, she turned around rang the bell again and said "does anyone hear me, we're closed" specifically to my table. She was sitting at a table with other employees. Some which were on the clock and others that were not. As my group and I were getting up to leave, we mentioned that the announcement of closing had been very rude. The employee responded by stating that she worked there and was only joking. However, as a paying customer, this was not perceived as a joke at all. She continued to assert that she worked there and kept repeating that she was only joking, while gesturing in an aggressive and rude manner. Another employee attempted to intervene and apologize for the "misunderstanding," however, the employee off the clock, rudely insisted that it was a joke and we can't take a joke. This experience was very unprofessional, unwelcoming, and frankly left a negative impression. It's disappointing to feel treated in such a manner at an establishment that I have otherwise enjoyed visiting. read more

We decided to give FreeMore a try for lunch. It gets 4 stars just for quick friendly service! This spot has the potential to be family friendly, but the uncensored music could be a bit much for young kids, or for families that don't listen to parental advisory music. I found some of it to be a bit offensive. Maybe too much for lunch time on a weekday. Our server was really nice, attentive, and professional. We tried the Philly cheesesteak and Southwest chicken egg rolls, Mac n cheese, and loaded tater tots. All of the food was fresh and piping hot. The egg rolls were both very good. The Philly was better with ranch than the queso they come with. The Southwest were appropriately spicy and the spicy ranch was an extra kick. If you can't do too much spice, I'd suggest going with regular ranch. Loaded tater tots, need I say more?! Crunchy, cheesy, bacony goodness. I asked for a side of sour cream and green onions. I got the sour cream, but was bummed they don't have green onions or chives. My guest enjoyed the Mac n cheese. I'll definitely be back to try some of their great looking salads, and get some more loaded tater tots. read more

I am a huge fan of Ed's tavern so I was super excited when this place opened up. Great spot to watch a game. The food is great and the beers are cold and crisp! It is very busy however--I couldn't even get in the first time I tried to find a spot w a friend. Also it's one big open room so it's extremely loud which is great if your team is playing... not so much when it's not your team. read more

My hubby, brother, and a friend of his met up at Freemore Tavern for drinks and food. We had passed this place many times, but finally stopped in. We sat on their patio and did some people watching while enjoying some draft beers. They had cocktails available but we didn't try any. We ordered wings, salads, and a delicious chicken sandwich; everything was flavored/seasoned well and juicy! We will definitely be back again for the food.
