This bar is located inside the historic Roosevelt Hotel along Hollywood Boulevard. We had a great time at Teddy's for the Supreme Holiday party. It was a private party so we didnt have to deal with any hassle getting in or coming back in but I can see how it may be an issue on regular nights. The space can get filled quickly even on that night when the place was rented out just for the holiday party. DJ Quik performed and played his and other hits that kept the crowd moving. Then DJ Holiday was after him. There was also a rapper that performed but I couldnt tell you who it was cause I had no clue... We had a great night celebrating the holidays. Teddy's is good times. Bartenders were super cool. So were the guys at the door. No complaints at all except it can get a little claustrophobic when it gets crowded. Nearest restroom I knew of was by the bar in the hotel lobby. So you would have to exit Teddy's. I wasnt aware of a restroom inside Teddy's although there could very well be one. We found parking on the street. The nearest parking structure is $25 flat rate at night. The hotel has valet as well. read more

**SWANKY LOUNGE WITH GOOD LOOKING PEEPS** We didn't even want to deal with Boulevard 3, so we walked a few blocks and stumbled into Teddy's. LIKES: *Nice front people. *No attitude. *No cover. *Nice decor *Eye candy *Plenty of sitting area *Dance floor Wow. Then we walked in and was blown away by the beauty of the bar, the chandeliers, the dim lighting, and the fabulous LA stylish eye candy. DISLIKES: *Roaming coke heads (LA in a nut shell after midnight) *DJ was not Samantha Ronson the night we visited, so the music was a bit whacked Not a big space, intimate, but that was good for me. This place is SOOOO HOLLYWOOD. *see pic* We came here on a Tuesday night to see Chromeo spin some house/electro beats. The line was getting long at 9 pm, but since my GF knew the promoter, we walked right in. :) The place inside is gorgeous, kinda like a cave/palace/Dracula's lair. It was pretty dark inside and there were lots of couch/lounge areas surrounding the bar. We sat down and the waitress came around and took our drink order. This is the way to go guys. If you go to the bar and order drinks yourself, you will wait forever and a day to get served. They have the SLOWEST bartenders ever! OMG.. Music was pretty good, mostly house/electro, and then hip hop. Drinks were decently strong, I think i had 3 that night and I had a good buzz going on. They are about $12 each, typical for LA places. My gf saw some guy she wanted to talk to, but when I flagged him down, he just said hi and then walked away. Either gay or unavailable. wtf. Good times, if you're into the Hollywood scene. read more

This is a tragic tale of something absolutely amazing that was somewhere between damaged and outright ruined by complete idiocy. I wish I could give both a five star review, for what this place could and should be, and one star, for what has been done. Let me explain. The bar itself is amazing. It is this beautiful cavern like space, maybe once a wine cellar or something, With thick blue velvet curtains and a fantastic crystal lighting piece above the bar that looks like something out of the Great Gadsby movie. The furniture is beautiful, fits the period and style of the hotel, is comfortable, and varied enough to accommodate groups of diverse sizes. It would be the perfect place for a first date or for a long quiet conversation with an old friend except... For no reason imaginable to me, they have bolted large ugly speakers to the stone and brickwork. They are everywhere and constantly blast some mixture of hip-hop and other loud trash utterly at odds with the style and feel of the bar and any purpose to which you might have chosen this particular place. This is when you are lucky. At about 8 pm, they take the volume and double, maybe triple, it and shift the music to disco (literally, as in disco from the 70's) and house music, with lots of record scratching. They light up a disco ball over a tiny area that I presume is imagined to be a dance floor. Nobody dances. The music is horrible and, not only too loud to allow you to think, it is literally painful in this tiny space with hard stone walls reflecting the sound everywhere. It is like some kind of torture room dreamed up by Gene Rodenberry for an old Star Trek episode. Nobody dances. One by one, and two by two, people begin to get up and leave. The bar then continues like this for many more hours, almost entirely empty, except for the staff who are, without exaggeration, trapped in an acoustic environment that would win only OSHA violations if ever properly reported. Even if you like this sort of music and to dance, which I sometimes do, it makes no sense in this space, the hard acoustics of the space distort and ruin the sound, the "dance floor" is ludicrously tiny, and the entirety of the rest of the atmosphere of the space works against any possibility of this place being some free wheeling tequila laden dance club. So, the conclusion? The best things about this space will last a long long time. Perhaps reviews like this one, or citations from OSHA, or a law suit from one of their deafened wait staff will convince them to make this place safe for human habitation. The space and it's decore and it's intrinsic class, not to mention it's otherwise conducive physical atmosphere for quiet talk and good conversations over fine scotch cry out for a soft background of classical music. If ever they choose to rethink the war crime that is their sound system and what plays across it, this could be one of the most wonderful places in town. read more

Super "LA" vibe. Need to know the hot girl promoter at the door to get inside. Big bulgy security guards intimidate the hopefuls, while wannabe Hollywood pseudo celebrities concealed behind hipster/rocker/grungy/douchey garbs drop fat wads on drinks and show off un-earned wealth. While the crowd is entitled and coked up, the bartenders are rude and armored with an attitude. Can you blame them? Having to deal with douche bags all night? They have valet parking. Street parking is hard to find. I don't know if there is a cover. I went with a big shot celebrity producer and we were comped for everything. But it was tough for everyone else who was trying to get inside. The dance-floor is small, and people are smoking inside so you leave smelling like an ashtray. Downstairs of the Roosevelt Hotel. UGH. Double UGH. That is how I feel about this place - for 2 reasons. Came here for a friend's birthday and I was trying really hard to keep my skepticism at bay because we found street parking...on Hollywood...on a Saturday...out front...SCORE and I was stoked to wear my over the knee boots out, double score. But I knew to keep my expectations low because my experiences with trendy LA clubs in the past were bad and made me have this grudge. Wrong to judge every club like the rest, but well they've never changed my mind. So here is why I give this place a double UGH... 1) Me and my friend walk up to what we thought was the door because there wasn't a crazy line to point the way. Some British (?) biotch is rude from the beginning saying how do we expect to get in without being on the list. My friend and I are so confused because we've never been turned down before and we couldn't figure out why she was so rude when clearly the place was EMPTY at 10! Hello! Finally my friend came out to get us but not before the door lady lectured her about bringing too many friends. Um what? Dude, the place was empty! Not one table had a person. The only people there were about 15-20 people talking around the bar. Seriously the lecturing for this? 2) I expected to hate this place and after the the rude door lady I just KNEW I'd hate it for sure. Well I was wrong. UGHHHHH. Boy I hate to be proved wrong. I don't know what it was that won me over, maybe the pretty crystal chandelier over the bar. Maybe the really nice girl bartenders. Maybe it was the AWESOME music the DJ was spinning. I mean when do you get to dance to the Beatles at a bar? And not just a little head nodding but full on dancing to Come Together. But I think the real kicker was the cute guy bartender over at the other bar who makes the awesome custom drinks. I walked up and said "I love mint, blackberries, and vodka...lots of vodka." i've been to Teddy's a few times. WASTED. how did my friends and i even get in all those times? beats me. so- i finally went here last night SOBER-ish w/ my BFF who was guest DJing. i actually really like the Roosevelt Hotel. who doesn't love seeing the neon lights shining above you. it's kind of nostalgic to me. the place is always bustling with A-listers and cool peoples. i don't mind the celebrities, if anything... i've met many cool ones here. Teddy's is a real hot-spot. from Roosevelt's VIP's and the majorly-hot and famous people all make up the crowd here. i loves it. my BFF tells me this is where they shot the infamous, "i'm f*cking Ben Affleck" w/ Jimmy Kimmel. hilarious! old hollywood vintage decor. i really love the design aesthetics of this place. i love the chic feel with a flavor of spanish. i'm a huge sucker for hollywood-glam... especially 1940's and 60's. this is the place where i can get my Marilyn Monroe on. the black leather chairs and seats are ultra sexy. i love the chandeliers that ascend from atop the bar... pure awesomeness. what i really enjoyed about this place was that- they allowed me to do some work in their office on my laptop. i know... insane! i'm a workaholic... but i was impressed at how accommodating and polite they were about my needs. wow. you effin' rule! read more

Located in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, this swanky lounge is no longer its hip self. Like any Hollywood hotspot, this place once had a strict guest list and long lines. However, this has changed. With newer lounges and clubs opening up nearby, Teddy's is no longer the cool kid in town. Yet, Teddy's is still a beautiful lounge that still carries itself some major swag. The bar area is dark and swanky. The people are beauitufl. There are tables and leather couches that you no longer have to reserve to rest your dancing feet. Drinks are stiff and are around $11.00 a pop. The DJ plays Top 40 Hits on the weekends. Thursday nights are jazz night. If you don't feel like waiting in line but one a fun night out in Hollywood, definitely visit this watering libation. read more

This club is awesome, even if it is a little on the small side. The bartender very friendly and not bad to look at too! It is definitely more refined than your average Hollywood club with respect to the venue and the patrons. They opened at 10:30P on a Saturday, so when we got there it was not that crowded yet. We didn't have any problems getting in and we didn't pay a cover, so maybe getting there early is key. I enjoyed the music, hop-hop and some old school. Very nice...good ass shaking music. There are some spots to sit, but most of the seating areas are reserved for table service. I would check it out again. read more

Let me start off by saying I haven't been here in over 7 years. The last time was when I was running the office/behind-the-scenes of this bar and the other two at the Roosevelt Hotel (Tropicana and Library/Lobby bar). The door is still just as rude, but with no real reason. Not that the person who created the insane craze all those years ago with Teddy's was a great person to work with, but to her credit the space was really some place you WANTED to get into. Now, meh. Also, once you get in, and wait for the bartenders to stop talking to each other and the cocktail waitresses about their call-backs, you get a watered down drink for $15. Please note, if you order from a waitress at a table, that drink will cost you $18. Once you question the waitress, she'll quickly explain "Oh, oh, it's on the bill. It's a service charge". (It's not). So.... a 20% service charge to walk ten feet and then NOT tell the customer about it. All while the 'gratuity' line stays wide open for an extra tip? Sorry, I'll go to the bar from now on. Or at a bar down the street and have water here. You'll also have to flag her down after your first drink, because the manager is hitting on her (the same manager that we saved all those years ago.... after security cameras caught him peeing in a hotel trash can). Hollywood GLAMOUR! So, in summation, if you plan on attending an event, friend's gathering, need for an over-priced night out and are craving some LA attitude on the side; head on down to Teddy's. And, from what I hear, the Tropicana is pretty much the same way. Now I'm not so sorry I stayed away for so long. I only wish our friend's night was somewhere else. This is the best bar in Hollywood in my opinion. All the other clubs seem to come and go and usually only have one night of the week when they are really good. Teddys is always good. The crowd is always hot and the Dj's spin the best music in town. I love the Kids Cotton Club Jazz night. They use to have hennessy sponser this night and it was free hennessy drinks until midnight. They are very very very strict at the door and its usually manned (or wommaned) by this girl Sarah who takes her job very seriously as she only lets in the hottest girls. If you are looking for a place to go on a friday night that wont be filled with a bunch of out of towners in Gaudiger.. Teddys is the place to go. This is the hipster haunt. I've been a regular for a few years and now when I go I tend to run into the same group of people who frequent the spot on fridays. Its the place where everybody knows your name :) but pretends they dont. Maybe its snooty and maybe they dont let everybody in, but this is classic old hollywood and there wont ever be any club like it. My GOD, I love this place. Went on a Friday night, and it was packed (clearly) with a verrrry strict door. But clearly, I know how to work around that (heyo!) Once inside, the place was jammed full but full of people who were all having a BLAST. Seriously. My friend compared it to a raging high school dance rather than a bar, and the DJ, who I would LOVE to find out the name of, was hands down the best I've experienced in LA. Yea, it's pretty nice inside (if you really care about the million-dollar chandelier dripping in expensive glass) but I don't know, I spent a lot of money on a whiskey on the rocks that I guess I should have had at home. Oh Teddy's. I first heard about this in the early aughts when Lindsay Lohan was in her partying prime and I read tabloid stories and hoped that I too could one day be part of Hollywood's elite. I managed to get in here thanks to a Crushee event and the door was really easy to get past. We had a table, so I was able to kick back and relax on the couches. The DJ was great. My biggest problem is the bar. I was charged $14 for a Jameson and ginger which isn't that surprising since this is the Roosevelt and I'm used to their exorbitant alcohol pricing. I guess I'm just over the club scene. This would have been cool when I was 21, but now that I'm used to imbibing in smaller, divier bars for much cheaper and so that I can actually hear my friends' conversations without yelling, I'm not that excited about Teddy's. read more

I'm not Jazzy Jeff or Natalie Portman, but he respected me enough to listen to me, before I said my name and association. I could tell he was a GENUINE Los Angeles native, probably from the west side. Regardless, he was nice to everyone; PROFESSIONAL. Far from the others... Hey, door dorks, you don't have to act like you go home to a fafillionaire mansion. You're just like the rest of us. Be assertive, not condescending. You can be nice and still not let everyone in. Really, it's not that serious yo. They totally ruined the experience. It's actually quite demeaning and who is anyone to "humble" or "school" anyone in Hollywood. Working in Hollywood doesn't make you a STAR, neither do most stars act so condescendingly. I was so exhausted after trying to get to the right person, in doing so - a stiletto heel smashed b/w my 4th and pinky toe by a 6-foot tall girl, and squashed b/w a bunch of people trying to talk to these socially inept door guys. I never forget; elephant's memory. Let me say this, you never know who you're talking to. I'm associated with many people in Los Angeles and I don't have to name drop to get respect. I earned it already. Even then, you should treat people as you would like to be treated, unless they're acting like donkeys. Then, handle your business. Other than that, you shouldn't work in a public environment. The only thing good was the DJ blending a gumbo of musical genres; and the one cool real LA dude at the door. The door policy is true. You won't get in without the secret password. Luckily I met a guy at Tropicana last night that knew the girl DJing here so we got in with no problem. Note that men must be wearing a necktie. We got here late, probably around 1 or 1:30. Very hip but laid back crowd. You know those places that are impossible to get into but then you get inside and it's like why? Well this place is the opposite. Great decor (think old Hollywood chandeliers) with a center black leather bar. Que chic. Great chill vibe. It's small without being too small. There are roomy couch/table areas to sit and chat. What really put this place over the top for me was the live jazz band playing. They were amazing. Singer/piano player, trumpet, drums, guitar and 2 saxophone players, one of which was the uberfine Aaron West. I think I'm in love! They stopped the alcohol at 2 but the party kept on going. I ducked out around 2:45 and it wasn't winding down at all. If you can swing the entrance, definitely check this place out. read more

The best little club room in Hollywood. Beautiful renovation. Props to Med and the team. Service is good, but other than the bar, it's just table (bottle) service. Don't come here looking for mixologists in 20's attire. If that's what you're after, go to the spare room or library bar, both in the Roosevelt. Yes, it's super tight at the door. Why? Because they like to keep a clean house. :) If you can't get in, go hang out in one of the other 4 great bars the hotel has to offer: The Spare Room, The Library Bar, Tropicana pool bar or Beachers Mad House. Here is my suggestion for when you are spending a night in Teddy's - take a break and head around the back of The Roosevelt to the Tropicana Bar. It's odd- I had no expectations of the Tropicana and loved it - it's mellow and fun - and Teddy's? Well, we had made sure that we would make it past the velvet rope - thanks to a slightly besotted Tropicana barman who escorted us through - but did it match my high expectations? Possibly not. Its still fun, very busy, and most definitely the place to be for the too cool for school Hollywood pack - the music was great, but it is definitely a cliquey kind of crowd, and while the drinks were potent, so was the expense. Somehow the cocktails at the Tropicana seemed to come to less then the ones at Teddy's. I think my JD and Coke was $18! Still, I had a great time, and even if it isn't really your scene, the careworn glamour and decadence of The Roosevelt hotel is something that you have to experience if you are in the neighbourhood. read more

Maybe my experience here was only so wonderful because the group I was with (a whole graduate school) had rented out the entire place, so we didn't have to deal with annoying bouncers or long lines. The bar itself is really beautiful and cozy - there are a lot of stone archways and private rooms/coves right off the main room, so if you can snag one with some friends it's perfect for taking a break in between dance songs. Speaking of dancing, it's not a huge space, but of the space they do have, they've designated a good portion of it to be a dance floor, which is always appreciated. Drinks weren't anything special, but service was fast (considering there were like a billion of us crowding around). This isn't a place I'd come often (I'm definitely more of a dive bar girl), but I'll be back if I ever feel like dressing up fancy and having a classy night out in Hollywood! read more

Had my gradation commencement party here last night (9/21) Staff was rude, took glasses and bottles straight from our hands. 5 security guards were up in my face. Everyone was so disrespectful. Stopped by Hooters, had a quick drink, and then we went down to Teddy's. We knew it was a good idea the moment we found the door. So I found out today that not just anyone can get into Teddy's, its a place for the elite and socialites of Los Angeles. Well I've only lived here for 3 days and I got in just fine! All you have to do is be drunk enough to follow a group of girls going in through the velvet rope. Like a glove. So we get in, there are celebs and hipsters and hotties and everything you could possibly want in a fun bar, but here's the catch: NO ONE WAS HAVING FUN. Why don't people in this town talk to other people? They just stare at everyone else sizing them up. So we just walked around and tried to talk to all of the mean people in there. Anyway, I guess about 1 am people got drunk to enough to make an effort and started dancing, and the music/DJ was freaking fantastic. Turns out good times CAN actually be had there. I guess the fact that it was fluke for us to get in there in the first place made the night all worth it. Great decor, expensive drinks, and mean people... this place is alright by me. I used to be a regular for the Thusday Night Jazz Jam, which was SPONSORED by HENNESEY! That meant free Henny Cocktails til Midnite. In its infancy it was truly a hot spot. It was the perfect blend of some of LA's Best Players (a couple of them friends of mine), great decor and ambiance, and beautiful young girlies who thought (or wanted to pretend) they knew about jazz. They used to require suits and ties. That soon faded to ties and anything funky, which finally became uhhhh just try and dress slick. It still brings in the ladies and a crowd, but it isn't as much stars slipping in the back. It's more the younger, more Hollywood version of the Edison crowd (which does not necessarily make it better in any way shape or form). You can still expect to hear really cool players do their thing, and be prepared to hear loooong jams. There is a little musician politics, as singers tend to light up the room, but they make the musicians a little jealous, thus getting them less stage time. The decor is still really art deco meets noveau funky, with hinits of Mediterranean architecture and styling. You don't hear as many rumors of the Lindsay Lohan's wreaking havoc since Amanda Demme went away, but I have been there on nights Prince was rumored to have snuck in quietly to one of the rear booths, but no one was able to confirm. Still a worthwhile place to be, but it will never be what it once was. read more

Being not the 1st time partying in so. Cal. and as a S.F. native, Teddy's was not a bad place to party. The decor was definitely nice but maybe because we went during Cochella weekend the people in attendance were a little dull. Luckily, I was with great friends and drank too much champange with them. Its almost laughable, but once you get in, the troubles sorta worth it. the exclusivity weeds out alot, and makes it that much more interesting when your in. A glance at my other reviews will probably show that I'm not really all about the Hollywood scene. So, when my friend was having a small soiree at Teddy's I got nervous. Was there a line (and was I going to have to stand in it all alone?) Was there a ridiculous cover charge? Was I going to feel like an outcast because I'm not primped like most of the rest of the Hollywood crowd? (Yeah I'm a little insecure) Anyway, I went out and had an AMAZING time! I went for Thursday jazz nights and I was impressed. The door girl and guy were really nice and I walked right in. In fact, every staff member I encountered was really friendly and not at all snooty. We even snuck seats in the "reserved" section and no one told us to move which was nice. I hate areas "reserved" for nobody. Yes, the drinks are expensive, but they're strong too. I only had one and I was sipping on it for a while. Finally, despite my initial worries about it being too schmoozy, the crowd was pretty cool. I really like that they require dresses and ties - the guys were looking sharp and I was definitely a fan. There were still, unfortunately, the too-drunk girls knocking over glasses and spilling their wine on each other. I like Teddy's because it has such an old school feel to it. Lounge/bar that's set up with a more mature feel as opposed to glitz and glam. Came here for a show on a Tuesday night and was glad it wasn't packed like crazy...still had room to walk, dance, and be damn close to the performing stage. We got here a little before 11 with a long line out the door, but was lucky enough to walk in after 5 or 10 minutes thanks to a mad hook up. Drinks are priceeeyy! But that's what you'd expect at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. And, they were made pretty stiff, so I was a happy camper. However, the ultimate downside is the insane SLOWNESS that is the bartender. The bar area wasn't huge, but definitely needed more than just 3 bartenders. That was probably my only complaint of the evening. Back entrance serves as an outside patio. Kinda random and expected a little better, but whatever, you're just smoking a cigarette or getting some air so who needs a chair right? No sightings...or at least I wasn't on the lookout for em. Ted's as the cool cats call it, is by far my favorite gem in LA/Hollywood! The chandelier above the bar is one of the most gorgeous things I've seen in my entire life. I stick to Saturday night because the Alliance really knows how to throw a see & be seen party! Don't act like you don't care about that stuff, because your ass would still be in Kansas! It's more than tough to get in, but you don't want to be rubbing elbows with a summer teeth, circus freak... Don't think that staying at the Roosevelt = your in to this spot, because you're not going to get in. You might as well sleep in your car & get bottle service, because it's worth the price! On a side note, the artist formerly known as Prince (or the Artist... whatev.) & his entourage bumped into me last time I was there. I was almost dumbfounded as he hobbled through with his cane.... Cue up typical yelp story about how its hard to get in unless you know someone. Then mention how there are some skanks and a couple dbags. Then mention how a middle school dance DJ could have gotten more people on the dance floor. Dont forget tthe paparazzi trolling the side door. There you have it, a yelp review of a hollywood hotspot. I would rate it less if I spent money, and If my homie didnt run the door. Speaking of the door, they do a good job keeping the breezy count high, and the dbag count low, but WTF, I saw a guy in there wearing cargo shorts. I would expect mondays to be higher end crowd. Fun place. Usually a good looking crowd. Tight door. Hottie girls, who's who and those willing to put up the cash are the only ones not waiting in line. Nice and dark. Tons of tables. Two stars for the bouncers. They are very aggressive. They have a reputation for physically getting into it with females. Witnessed it myself. First of all I came dressed to teddys in my Herve Leger and Chanel bag. I looked the part. My fiancé and I are staying at the Roosevelt in a $1000+ room . I was told by the spare room and Teddy's that it was wait list only. Both establishments were rude and condescending. I will never stay at this hotel again. I was treated like trash by elisajah and the girl at spare room. If you are going for the " I let all my friends in and it's cool vibe" you nailed it. I saw multiple people get the "hey babe" come right it hello. I will take my business to the sls, the standard and the peninsula before I ever step foot on this property again. read more
