Super friendly service and yummy soul food!…read more I saw a commercial for Nana Morrison's on tv and had never heard of it before. But as a person always in search for some good ol' crispy fried chicken, I had to check it out. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Each side was flavorful and plentiful. I saw a review about their Mac and cheese not being flavorful enough but I thought it was great. I also really liked their fried okra. Reminds me of a place I love in Texas. Oh and their collard greens are jam packed with flavor. I've had collard greens before elsewhere and didn't get the hype but now that I've had Nana Morrison's collard greens, I can say I'm hooked! Such a nice find. Located right near Bonefish grill. You have to give it a try!

Finally got to try Nana Morrison's Soul Food in Cary! The restaurant itself is a pretty large…read moreestablishment with plenty of seating inside, plus a covered outdoor area that looks like it has garage-style doors they can open up when the weather is nice. Definitely a cool setup! I went around lunchtime and there was no wait at all to order. I decided on the fried pork chop, which I didn't realize was a made-to-order meal. I expected a little bit of a wait because of that, but I was honestly shocked when it took about 25 minutes to get my food. My friend had already finished her smothered chicken by the time mine came out Thankfully, her chicken was VERY good because I definitely stole a few bites while I waited! As far as my meal, I think next time I'd order something that's already cooked and ready to go and probably switch up my sides. The mac and cheese and yams weren't quite as good as I was hoping for, and the cornbread muffins were pretty dry and probably my least favorite part of the meal. Now the sweet tea?? SWWWWWWWEEEEET! They definitely understood the assignment on the Southern sweet tea! Overall, I'd give Nana Morrison's another try. There were enough things on the menu that looked good, and after tasting my friend's smothered chicken, I know there are definitely some winners. Next time I'm skipping the made-to-order wait and trying a different combination of sides!

The second best bacon cheeseburger I've had in my LIFE…read more Someone local recommended this place to us so we checked it out. I wasn't too excited because it's not the type of place I'd usually pick, but I went to go along with the group. It ended up being the best place we went during the whole visit to Raleigh. First off, the biscuits and hush puppies they bring out to start were so good. They were better than the biscuits we had at breakfast at a nearby restaurant that actually specializes in biscuits, and the honey butter was intensely flavorful. I just ordered the 4 sides because I'm not a big meat person, and while they were good, once I tasted the cheeseburger someone else at the table ordered, I ended up stealing it from him. They grind the beef for the burger in house, and the quality of the meat is top notch. The service was also 10/10. I don't normally notice or care about service since I'm just in it for the food, but this is one of the few restaurants where I felt genuinely welcomed in. I will absolutely be prioritizing coming back here again next time I'm visiting.

The brisket was a little fatty for me yet I like my brisket lean. And the pulled pork was tasty. Also, the deviled eggs for appetizers are a must get The service was good very fast to get your food out and the ambience was your cute. Typical Carolina barbecue restaurant.

Wow. I don't even know if I have a picture to show you. I may need to go back and get more to get a…read morepic. Haha It was fantastic. The ribs were slow-cooked and tender with flavor that went through the meat to the bone. The sweet potato was caramelized and decadent like a dessert. The macaroni and cheese was very cheesy and definitely American (I am Caribbean so I have a different way of our macaroni and cheese). The fried chicken was crispy and crunchy (Remember all crunch will disappear if microwaved but it is still delicious). I will update once I taste the potato salad and collard greens. The cake they give you is a typical add-on so don't get annoyed if you get a sliver. You are so loaded up on carbs from the macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, breading on the chicken and the small Hawaiian roll that... your cholesterol will thank you for not adding on a hunk of cake. That lemon cake was made correctly though even if it reminded me of a slice of Betty Crocker cake. :) The stars of these dishes are the food! Sunday it was open over on Millbrook with proceeds heading to the TCC ministry. I feel like I did something great for mind, body and spirit. Yum!!!

The meat really did taste as if it was refried or the grease was old. Definitely wasn't fresh. The macaroni and cheese was just noodles and cheese, no flavor. The yams were stringy. The turkey collards were the only thing I enjoyed. The "cake" was honestly a mini portion of a store bought pound cake. I felt totally ripped off when I could've dinned in elsewhere for a completely different experience for $30. The staff was very nonchalant when I introduced myself as a first time customer asking for suggestions. There aren't many designated soul food places in Raleigh and I feel like this is totally a missed opportunity and it's unfortunate because I drove almost 30 min each way just for them.
