a close up of a food truck

Like a panini, but better. At first glance, 454 Grill food truck menu seems ordinary. It really isn't. The two I tried, the classic BLT and the Margherita Melt come loaded. They look deceptively small, but that sandwich packs a lot of food. The Melt is like a grilled cheese, but with the classic Mozzarella, Tomato, and Basil filling. The home fries were the star for me on both visits, though. I think it was the large pieces of grilled garlic that were mixed in that made these memorable. The sour cream served on the side, was an interesting addition, but I was still without it. The second trip, though, the home fries weren't nearly as good but I suppose they shouldn't be the star. The people working the truck are great, working quickly, and making it seem not so much like food truck food as it is a creation from your own kitchen. 454 Grill food truck is understated, sporting a simple sign in the shape of North Carolina on a truck painted a solitary color. It draws you in out of curiosity.

Margherita melt - crispy melty goodness

Another fairly tasty food truck at my work today for lunch. I ordered the margherita melt for $8 and Cajun home fries for $4. It was over imo but food trucks always are so there's my comment on that. The sandwich was actually really good I was pleasantly surprised. I was worried the tomato sauce would make it soggy but they really put the perfect amount in there. The tomatoes were fresh and the fresh basil really came through to lift the entire sandwich up from the heaviness of the delicious melty mozzarella cheese. The bread was cooked nicely and, while covered in butter, wasn't soggy or dripping with grease. A really good grilled cheese. Sadly the home fries bring it down from a 4 to a 3. $4 is a lot to pay for a side item and I regret it. They were cooked really well but we're unforgivably undersalted and unseasoned. I couldn't finish them even with copious amounts of ketchup. I didn't taste any Cajun flavors (although I could smell it) and they were just too bland without enough salt. I'd order a sandwich from here again but I'll skip the potatoes next time.

Buffalo Chicken melt and potato salad

I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Melt lunch special with potato salad as my side. On the menu it says "chopped chicken breast" - that is not what I received. It was ground chicken - which is a totally different taste and texture than chicken breast. The flavor and sandwich as a whole was mediocre at best. The potato salad is also not something I'd ever buy again - overpowering taste of ranch dressing (or mayo); it was also advertised to have bacon.. I didn't taste this at all or see any in my serving. Overall my lunch here was a flop, for me. My coworkers both ordered their cheesesteak melt and home fries and seemed to enjoy it.

Awesome food and excellent, quick service. I had the cheesesteak (sans peppers and onions) and home fries- all were delicious.

If you want a small sandwich which you wait for 50 minutes to get then go for it. It wasnt great after the wait. Good luck.

It did not disappoint. He knew what to order so that helped. If I went in by myself I would be so overwhelmed. The staff is quiet. They're not the most helpful but not rude either. Just there to fill your order when you figure things out. The helpings are more than enough. Two arepas are hard for me to finish in one setting. The only downside to saving for later is they get kinda soggy so you cannot eat them neatly with your fingers later after you warm them up. But they still taste so good! The ambiance is typical fast-food feel. I like being able to get refills on my drink on my own while I'm dining in instead of having to go to the counter and wait in line to ask for one. Tables seem to be wiped down and maintained in-between customers which is nice too.

Gluten free options are always a lighter and a less heavy option, in my option. This is one of the perks. I tried the La Tica (chicken) and the La Surena (bbq). I enjoyed the chicken. Very flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the bbq - a bit on the dry side for me. The chicken was delicious but the cheese could've been melted and I would've preferred my food on the warmer side. Giving Grace with 4*, perhaps I tried this too late in the evening. Maybe these are intended to be served that way I received them. I do recommend Arepa Culture NC but I'd recommend go at opening or before lunch time for freshness. The rice and beans were good. The peach juice was okay.
