BBQ Sandwich w/Slaw & BBQ sauce
    Lori R.

When this food truck came to work they made folks very happy. Personally, I went with the bbq sandwich and slaw. It is Nahunta bbq. Very generous portion. With a surprisingly sweet and cold bbq sauce served on the side. Expected more of an Eastern BBQ vinegar sauce, but it was good. Very tasty! And so generous that I ate it minus the bun and was quite content for lunch. Others were happy with what they tried as well. Only wish would be for some healthier options.

First off this place takes forever to get your food, the food is overpriced and the owner running this operation are pretty rude. The food is just ok, there's nothing special about it, I am not convinced on their "natural " stance. Fries are greasy and soggy. I would not recommend eating at this place. Lastly we saw them driving and they cut us off no turn signals and the old man driving seemed irate. Big pass here.

Food Truck Tuesday: Ty's All Natural I decided to give this food truck a shot because the menu looked appetizing and they had a good sanitation grade. The line moved quickly, it was soon my turn to order so I went with the Chicken Salad Sandwich, a side of fries and a soda for only $10! I went with this option since it reminded me of a childhood favorite that my mom used to make for me since it contained grapes and pecans! Unfortunately, the chicken is cubed, I prefer shredded that is cooked in broth, and it contained a few hard pieces which I assumed was cartilage? The lines are starting to get longer at Food Truck Tuesday since the weather is getting nicer but Ty's All Natural was providing great customer service while still getting all of the orders out. Next time, I plan on ordering the Waffle Fried Chicken since this is one of their signature dishes!

Finally found Food Truck at Durham. It's worth to try, all natural, good breading. Friendly service. Best Waffle Fried Chicken

The waffle fried chicken is amazing. I didn't expect them to be such thick pieces of chicken breast, and I assumed there would be two strips, but they come with three. The chicken is infused with syrup for convenience so you don't have to worry about walking around with a container doused in syrup you poured. Tip: if you like your chicken spicy ask them to add extra spice. The menu said there was a little kick to the chicken, but I tasted nothing (and I'm a baby when it comes to spicy foods).

Bringing "Farm to Truck" food, it's so nice to see more food trucks using natural, local ingredients. If you've read any of my reviews, you'll know I'm ecstatic to have Food Truck events at The Crescent. It's hard to chase down these wonderful trucks when you're working a M-F job! Ty's is on the monthly schedule to come once every month--that's how good they are and how much people like them here. We all tried their Southern Burger and had a side of macaroni pasta salad. DELICIOUS. The Southern Burger is fresh ground chuck (1/3 lb) with pimento cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and chow chow, served on a brioche bun. If you're like me and have no idea what "chow chow" is, it's a sweet relish made with cabbage, bell peppers, and onions. A nice touch. I was worried about a burger coming from a food truck as sometimes the patties can come out tasting like a hockey puck, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was cooked to perfection. Also, the wait wasn't long! They've got a couple vegetarian options as well like falafel and veggie pita. But as usual with any food truck, the menu can change at any time!

I absolutely love the red grape chicken salad. They give you so much food! Not the fastest bunch, but good portions and inexpensive.

The Hot Honey Chicken special with pimento cheese was an easy 10/10. The fried green tomatoes were another standout, sliced to the perfect thickness with a great crunch. The beans and rice were packed with flavor, and the fried chicken was excellent. Even the Thai Chili BBQ deserves a mention; it's a must-try, just don't let the name fool you because the heat sneaks up on you. Add in the unique artwork and atmosphere, plus the great service, and you've got a restaurant that's worth a detour if you're driving through Durham. I'll definitely be back.

While the food was good, it didn't knock my socks off. And they're definitely more of a creole restaurant than a southern one. There are better cajun/Creole restaurants in the RTP area. I was going to order the creole gumbo, but found out when I came in that it was a seafood gumbo today not their regular one. Oh well. So I ordered jambalaya with a side of red beans and rice. Both were good but a little dry and I've had better nearby. The fresh catch of the Day was Amber Jack, and I love that fish, so maybe I should've ordered that in a Poboy. Might come back to try some of their other offerings.

A1 Gyro and Philly, a food truck that serves lamb gyro, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, and grilled…read morechicken sandwiches, came to a neighborhood in Carrboro, NC today, and as a lamb gyro enthusiast, I decided to buy a couple (1 for my girl). I was the only customer, and the friendly Middle Eastern guy in the food truck asked what I wanted: 2 gyro wraps. He asked if I wanted to add hot sauce to my gyros with tzatziki sauce, and I said, "Yes". I asked him where the food truck is based, he said that he goes to different locations, and didn't mention a permanent location. I checked the address here on Yelp and it says it's based in Durham, NC, which is not too far from here. Each gyro wrap cost $12, and my total came up $26+ (I assume with tax included). I was about to pull out $25 cash but after he said total, I pulled $30, and he said not to worry about it. I insisted to give the $30 and he gave a $5 change. I guess I got a $1 discount. He finished cooking both gyros in about 12 min., a bit longer than I expected, considering I was the only customer he was serving at that time. The gyro wraps were served inside a small paper bag, and wrapped in aluminum foil. I was quite surprised at the size of the order for 2 gyros. When I opened my gyro wrap, the size looked regular yet a bit smaller that what I had in last October's State Fair, which was fine, considering the State Fair gyro (which came with side of Greek fries) cost me $18+. However, unlike that State Fair gyro, I did not enjoy A1's main specialty. I would have to agree with what the previous reviewer Renee said, "Onions does not make a Gyro make". I love onions but not too much on my Gyro; this one is loaded with so much onions, lettuce, and tomato to the point that it's drowning the flavors of tzatziki sauce and hot sauce (Did he forget to put it?). The amount of lamb gyro meat didn't seem to justify its $12 price; it's not even spiced well, and the mush of ingredients to hide the fact that it's lacking meat just looked as bad as it tasted. That's not even the worst part. When I ate the gyro wrap, the pita bread tasted soggy, and that unpleasant texture and taste were more emphasized on every bite than the lamb gyro. I was not able to finish it; and just threw my leftover away. As I'm writing this review, my girl hasn't eaten her gyro wrap yet, and I haven't told her what I thought so she could judge by herself. We recently enjoyed an $11+ gyro in Kebab Skewer in Cary, and a $12+ chicken + lamb over rice at Tasty Halal Eats food truck in Morrisville, NC (both I reviewed here on Yelp), and I'm sad to say that A1's gyro wraps were nowhere close to the food quality of those foods and the State Fair gyro I mentioned earlier. The food truck's friendly customer service and 99% Sanitation Score are the only positive things I could say about this food truck. A1's gyro is clearly the opposite of what "A1" means. Overall Score: 1.1/5
