I'd suggest asking for extra spice/hot sauce, it wasn't as hot as some other jerk chicken I've tried (though very good).

I chose the pork chops, candied yams, and macaroni and cheese. My mother selected the turkey wings, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese, while my cousin opted for the fish and candied yams. The serving sizes were unexpectedly large, and the candied yams were every bit as delicious as I had expected. The food was superb. I was so impressed that I requested the hotel to package my leftovers, which I then took with me on my return flight home. I didn't think to take photos until after we began to eat.

I was so deep into eating my plate that I didn't even consider taking photos until 3/4 of the way finished and by then, it was too late. I called in my order for pick up and was so hungry so that didn't help. The location is definitely a pick up and go joint with just enough seating to wait for your order to be ready. It gets quite busy on a Friday night and I completely understand why now. It's located in a shopping center with parking around the building, so if there aren't any available spaces directly in front of the establishment, there is ample parking all around. The FOOD: I had a catfish sandwich, green beans, candied yams, cornbread and banana pudding cake. With the absence of the photos, I can honestly say, everything was amazing. The cake was really sweet and tastes more like a banana cake than banana pudding cake in my opinion but was still good. And the YAMSSSSS.... So tell me how can I get to the yams? YAMS! Sweet Yams. SWEET YAMS! I LOVE candy yams and these are absolutely hands down top 2 in Durham from what I've tried (Top 3 in all of the Triangle). I am really difficult to satisfy when it comes to candy yams and banana pudding. I WILL BE BACK (in my Terminator Voice) and this time with photos.

This was my first time trying Amigo Papa after seeing an IG reel that hyped it up. I decided to…read moretreat myself to a birthday lunch and headed to the Miami Blvd location. I got there early and actually waited 45 minutes for them to open--only for them to open late. When I approached the counter, there was no greeting, no smile--just cold energy. It was obvious there was a language barrier, but instead of trying to help, both women behind the counter ignored me when I asked for a menu. They continued talking to each other like I wasn't even there for an additional 10-12 minutes. After the wait, the attendant eventually came outside to prop up their large floppy menu sign, but it fell down again. She saw it fall, rolled her eyes, and just went back inside the food truck. As someone who had never ordered from there before, I was really relying on that sign to decide what to get. When I mentioned it to her at the window, she refused to come back out and fix it--so I had to prop it up myself. The whole situation felt so unprofessional. Honestly, I should've taken that as my sign to leave and not spend my money there. Again, even after all that waiting, I had to wait an additional 10-12 minutes before they were ready to even take my order. I came specifically for the birria corn, which they advertised on their IG page for this location. The woman told me they didn't have any birria of any kind today. I also asked about the pineapple agua fresca--also unavailable. Mind you, three more groups of customers came after me asking for the birria too--and they were just as disappointed to hear it wasn't being served and it was another couple's first time visiting also. I even saw a man who appeared to work for them unpacking his car with food items to deliver to their truck, and he confidently told me, "Oh, they have everything." That was completely misleading and clearly not the case. I was literally the first person in line, and I still ended up waiting over 35 minutes for my food--with no crowd. On top of that, I was being stared at like I was a problem. It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcomed. I left feeling completely disappointed, especially since I had been genuinely excited to celebrate myself. The service was unpleasant, the vibe was off, and the reality did not match what they promote on social media. Sadly, I won't be back. They seem to cater to influencers online, but don't show that same hospitality to everyday customers.

I had my mouth set on stuffed baked potato b/c ALL of the videos made my mouth water. However, my stuffed baked potato was very dry and nothing like any of the videos. I don't think I'll be returning.

So I thought I prepared well enough to know what I wanted. First strange thing was that as I'm standing at the truck wanting to place an order I was told I need to go inside to order. Right next to the food truck there's a small store that they own, where you can sit and eat and apparently where you have to order. There was a very nice lady inside helping me with my order, but I was totally confused. The empanadas did not mention shredded beef as a filling option so I asked her about that and she confirmed as far as I could tell that shredded beef was not an option for the empanada. She then flipped the menu over and said here is where shredded beef was an option and it was an $18 dish. I didn't need something that big and I couldn't tell what else came with it. I didn't know what the heck it was. At this point, I'm getting angry and disappointed. So I ordered the chicken empanada. Not what I wanted, but I do like chicken too. I also ordered a cheese stuffed bread appetizer. Second strange thing from a food truck is that she said it would be about 20 minutes. That seemed excessive, but I guess they make these from scratch. Now here is the third and most baffling: my father, who is with me, apparently ordered a shredded beef empanada, and that's exactly what he got. I didn't hear him order as I was trying to read the menu. I don't know where the disconnect was but they're definitely was one. I know outside the music was blasting but I can't remember exactly what was going on inside, but I know it was very loud because I had a hard time hearing her, in addition to the language barrier. The good news is that all the food tasted amazing. Maybe they're not interested in an English speaking client base. There were three other food trucks in this parking lot and none of them had a menu or anything written in English.

If it still exists, I don't know how to find it. None of their socials have been updated in years,…read morethe place there Yelp says the truck is is just an empty church parking lot and their website full of delicious food does not look like it's been touched in years. I'm only writing this review because I drove all over the place looking for it, couldn't find it, searched all their socials and came up empty. I'm hoping, if they are still around, they see this and maybe sort their stuff out so that anyone can find them to get food.

Even though he was neutered, every now and then he would get that look in his eye and promptly attach himself to your leg. You'd try to shake him off and he would be super-velcro'ed onto your limb, hanging on for dear life with lust in his doggie heart... But I digress. So yeah, the Baguettaboutit food truck... Baguettaboutit is based out of Chapel Hill so it's not a frequent visitor to Raleigh. I chased it down to Cary Crossroads and stopped in for a quick lunch. The truck looks brand spankin' new, bright royal blue and they have paper bags out front to mark up your order. I ordered up the Jersey Turnpike, sausage with red pepper sauce which took about 5+ minutes. Along with a bag o' chips and drink, we're talking about $8.50 which isn't bad. The Baguettaboutit sandwich is a pretty thing. Flour-dusted baguette with a thick sausage end peeping out (Flopsy!). And it's a tasty lunch, high-quality meat and crusty French bread. The red pepper sauce was creamy and decently flavored. By the time you work your way to the end of the sandwich, we're talking 3 - 4 inches of crusty bread and sauce left over, but still yum. Don't think there were any napkins available at the truck which would help a bit. For a first visit I was definitely impressed, I'll have to work my way through the rest of their baguette specials, six in total. Baguettaboutit puts out a solid sandwich that's perfectly portable and better than what you'd get from a Subway or Quizno, 3.5 stars. So I'm really looking forward to my next visit, if I can just only shake that image of my dog out of my head. One thing for sure, I'm not ordering ANY Baguettaboutit sandwiches with alfredo sauce, guaranteed...
