We got the Zeus Platter, which came with gyro, chicken breast, falafel, Greek salad, Mediterranean pita, and your choice of fries or lemon rice and hummus or tzatziki. We enjoyed everything on the platter with my favorites being the strong grilled essence of the perfectly tender chicken, crispy outside & fluffy inside of the falafel (I just wished there was more than one haha), and refreshing flavor of the tzatziki. Overall, it was a very healthy & tasty meal. Service was fast and the ambiance of the Can Opener is great, with lots of covered outdoor & indoor seating. Gussy's food truck has been coming to our community events and I love their gyro. It is hard to find a good Greek restaurant in the area and I have to say this is one of the best options (on wheels). I also noticed they have a brick and mortar location that we need to check out. The truck is a bright turquoise and happy color with all kinds of Greek icons, flags, and stickers (OPA, got gyros? etc). The team running the truck are all friendly and it is a family affair. I remember reading a story about them in the N&O and love their story and passion. Food: I ordered the lamb gyro with zaziki and it is fresh and tasty. Our neighborhood gets food trucks regularly, and Gussy's is definitely one of my favorites. You get a lot of food for your money, and the food is so good! My favorite is the pasticcio - I had never had it before, and it's just delicious. My husband loves their gyro pita, and he really likes the Greek fries (with feta, of course)! We've also had the baklava a couple of times, and it's a very generous portion. We've learned that it's best if we split a portion! Probably my favorite thing about this truck is the employees. There's one employee that has been there every time, and he's one of the most pleasant people that I've ever interacted with. On our most recent visit, I ordered my usual pasticcio and learned just before picking it up that they were out. He helped me choose a substitute, and was just so nice about it! We've only had Gussy's via the food truck, and all of our pleasant experiences with the truck make me really want to check out their bricks and mortar spot. Gussy's got good gyros, guys! I ordered the gyro sans lettuce, tomato, and onion. Total came to $8-something. Only ever having a subpar gyro once elsewhere, I was not really expecting much out of these guys. I ASSumed and made an ass out of myself on that front. The entire thing was super savory, and tasted very fresh which is something I think food trucks mess up often. This is one of those spots where it tastes the way it smells and it smells great. I loved the warm pita, it was soft and airy. Meat was tender, moist, subtly salty, and had good texture. Fries were good by themselves, tasted great in the gyro.. never get the lettuce option over the fries. They tasted like "artisanal" fries that you might find at somewhere like yard house. tziki sauce was a good cutter for the fries and tasted great with the gyro meat. I got a light serving of it on my gyro but a normal portion would've been way better. My fault because, once again, the last time I had it I didn't like it. This is a place where you get your money's worth. Imagine, if you will, a styrofoam container chocked full of herbed, crispy, just-the-right-amount of oily french fries, fresh from the fryer. Add this on top of another container stuffed with a feta-covered greek salad with homemade dressing and gyro meat, or one of their massive gyros, loaded down with lettuce, tomato, feta, and tzatziki. My coworker and I always try to split the fries, and we're still too full by the end, but lately I've been getting the Zeus platter, which is basically "give me ALL the things" for just over $10. The Greek salad was good but was somewhat plain. Could have added more Feta, dressing and pepporincinis. The gyro meat was plentiful. It could have been warmer. Also, I thought the menu stated it came with pita bread, and I did not receive it. On the other hand, the French fries had a lot of great rosemary flavor and they gave me enough to share with my family. Everyone was happy with the fries. I love falafel and their version is delicious - hot and crispy (very important - no one wants to eat a soggy or gummy falafel) and served with a smile. The sides and toppings were generous for $5.00. The tzatziki was creamy and flavorful and very fresh. The hummus was excellent. The Greek lemon rice (with feta and peas) was really good. Everything I ordered here was awesome! I located their truck for lunch via their website, and luckily they were less than 15 mins away on Kitts Creek in Morrisville. I got the gyro + fries which in turn gave me a free drink, and the baklava for dessert. The gyro was one of the best I've had in a long time, and definitely the best in Raleigh. Possibly the best food truck I've eaten at. I got the gyro for ~$8 which sounds pricey but not really in terms of food truck pricing. Plus it's a very, very high quality gyro.They are very generous with the meat, and I was blown away by how tender and flavorful it was. The tzatziki sauce added a nice creaminess. I subbed the fries that came with it for lettuce to make it slightly healthier. If you are really hungry, I'd recommend getting fries as a side or something. I've had Gussy's food truck twice and I'll be back for more! Both times I've had the chicken gyro, which yesterday was $8 + tax. Their pita is soft and a little doughy, in a great way, and their meat is moist and delicious. They slice the chicken thin before grilling so you don't get big chunks of chicken, but you can gracefully eat the pita. I noted the veggies were incredibly fresh. Tried Gussy's at the Durham Food Truck Rodeo today and I went for a chicken gyro with fries. I figured the fries were on the side but I was pleasantly surprised to receive my gyro stuffed to the brim with fries and extra tzatziki sauce, just the way I like! Very disappointed! My family and I followed Gussy's to County Fare in Durham yesterday. We ordered the Greek Fries (which were never made), Gyro, Chicken Pita, and Falafel sandwich. Sadly the food lacked flavor. A combination of dry tasteless falafels with very little sauce to add flavor made for possibly the worst falafel sandwich in my experience. My families experience with the gyro and chicken pita were no different. I hear their store front location in Cary is far better than what we experience on the truck. I guess I will give it a try sometime. Hope to have a better experience there! read more

I've eaten off of a lot of food trucks back up north - Greek trucks and this one was probably my least favorite. First it was over priced and secondly it was rather flavorless. Very unsavory. The chicken was somewhat rubbery. for 13.50 for a chicken pita and fries for the area I was surprised. I don't believe there was any seasoning at all on the meat. I really wanted to enjoy it. I agree with the reviewer below me who said it's basically some chicken, lettuce and tomatoes. Nothing special at all. 8 bucks for a food truck pita, especially the size is way overpriced having near to no overhead costs. I've paid a little less for many gyros on food trucks from Philly and Ithaca and they were the best things I've ever eaten in my life. This one was just meh. I think they try, but for the price and not receiving the value of a 8 dollar pita it was just MEH. I wouldn't recommend it. We tried Gussy's at the Wake Forest Food Truck Rodeo this past weekend. Excellent! We thought $13.00 for a sampler platter was a little bit pricey, but after seeing the amount of food you get, we found out it was totally worth it! My husband and I shared the platter. It came with two good portions of gyro meat, two chicken breasts, a bunch of fries, tzatziki, a green salad, and pita. The food was delicious! Gussy's is one of the best food trucks in the Triangle. They're fast, fresh and have great rotating specials. The Greek fries are phenomenal, especially if you spring for melted feta on top. You can tell they cut the fries themselves and make them to order. You can't go wrong with the traditional Greek wraps, and the rotating soups always look great, though I haven't had one yet. I really enjoy Greek / Mediterranean food. This food truck started coming by our work complex, and I'm excited every time it does. I've had the chicken, gyro, and falafel there and all three taste wonderful. The side of fries may seem a bit expensive (like $5.00 if you add feta, which you should of course), but it can easily feed 3 - 4 people as a side item (unless you have a really big appetite then it's more like 2 - 3). These fries are amazing. You can actually have them put IN your pita instead of lettuce, and initially I thought I would dislike that, but I was wrong. This is by far the best Greek food I have ever had. So much better than the chain Greek restaurants. However I have never been to the food truck as I always go to the Durham location off of Miami Blvd. the service is fast and so friendly! They always are very welcoming! My only complaint is I wish they were open longer! But I take advantage of the Monday Thur Friday 11-2pm. The hummus a gyro is my favorite but I have heard that everything on the menu is fantastic! I love the chicken pitas! They are amazing. The food is fresh and it's served fast! If you order the fries (and you should) you have to go all in, all the way with the feta on top! they are Simply Amazing. You can also order a Greek salad with the chicken - Yummy! It's good to be able to switch it up, not that I do, because I love the tzatziki sauce that comes on the pitas! If anyone complains about the portion size and the price, do not believe them. My boxes are always FULL on every visit. You get more than enough chicken on the pita and when you order the fries my husband and I always have to share them. So don't listen to that. And if you want a chair and a table - don't visit a food truck. (yes I do read the other reviews before I post my own) Gussy's food is delicious and has large portions. My daughter loves the Baklava! before you move on thinking this is one of those bad apple reviews let me explain .. this is a complete and comparative rating keeping in mind the other places in mind in town so to be fair to all and this is the food truck review only 1) The food is OK ..yes OK , decently good at most . If you think this is out of the world or 4 star i am sure you never been to bosphorous (Cary) , kebablicious(Austin) , Baba ghanoush ( Durham) to name a few or you need to see a doc since your palate is non existent 2) Chicken patties $3 a piece better not be burnt ! i am a decent cook myself so i understand when a chicken in over cooked or burnt vs done well cooked all the way through the middle . 3) I drive all the way back to tell them that not only did they look burnt they tasted burnt as well and the kid at the counter enlightens me of the fact that the chicken needs to be cooked all the way ...yes i beleive he thinks burning is the only solution to ensure a cooked chicken. Did not even offer me to do better next time just waved "have a nice day"! 4) the owner / chef made no effort what so ever to come over any hear me out when i was the only customer during the time of closure 5) Cutting potatoes into strips and frying them does not entitle to be called GREEK Fries ... it like calling chips French fries where in the French had nothing to do with it . 6) The pita bread is blant and tastes like one of those costco frozen ones 7) Not sure how you can charge extra for a side of sauce !!! for a $8 gyro with no sides ????? this is a food truck not a restaurant ! 8) The service - well lets sum it up i waited over 20 min for a mediocre gyro , pathetic fries , a whole sale tzatziki sauce ( 50 cents extra) and 2 burnt chicken patties 3 bucks each!! read more

Very good eats! The food truck came to BB&T in Wilson, NC 12-5-18 for the lunch crowd. I ordered the Gyros with Greek Fries and a Baklava. Oh my goodness it was so tasty! Everything was perfectly seasoned, the Gyro was very full and the Baklava was delicious. The wait time was a bit long BUT so worth it in the end. The price for what I ordered was not bad. More than what I would have spent at a fast food place but again the food was worth it and fresh. I could have made a meal of the Greek Fries. I was walking around the recent food truck rodeo in Durham mulling over which food truck to try and after seeing a really long line for Gussys, I decided this truck must be doing something right since there was a huge line forming, and really who doesn't like waiting in long lines for food? The line actually moved fairly quickly and I got to the front and ordered a lamb/beef gyro pita, which set me back about $8. The Pita gyro was enjoyable and filling and typical of other gyro pitas I have had in non food truck situations. I which they offered a few more beverage choices, such as tea or lemonade, but other than that I think I made a good decision. I am glad a Greek food truck is available, and if you see them out and about and enjoy Greek food then you should definitely give them your business! read more
