Husband popped up and brought home a Smoky Mountain burger with bacon, grilled onions, monterey jack and bbq sauce for me, and a Rusty for him. His packed some heat with jalapenos, spicy onion straws and garlic habanero aioli. We also got garlic parm fries. Arrived in cardboard containers, still warm. According to their website they use "locally sourced" Angus Beef and locally made brioche buns. Half pound per burger. All I can say is it was all very good. My burger didn't have a ton of toppings, but each bite was flavorful without being messy or getting the bun soggy. The fries were good too. Lots of parmesan and enough for sharing. Husband enjoyed his very much also. They didn't ask how he wanted them cooked and both were well done, but luckily not dry. So if you like a medium or rare burger you might want to ask about it. I really wanted to like this food truck but it didn't quite deliver. I went with the cheese burger combo for $9.00 + tax. It came with a side of fries and a drink. When I received it, the fries were all broken and over fried. It was like eating the little bits of broken pieces at the bottom of a bag of chips. The burger was good and had a nice char to it. I wish I had read reviews before hitting this food truck last night. My observations have already been posted by others, and it would have saved me money and a bad experience. My husband got a hot dog from this place and he said it was okay. $5 for a hot dog with toppings isn't out of the ordinary. My burger and fries was $13ish, which would have been fine, but the fries were ridiculously underdone, limp, unsalted, yet still greasy and covered in some unpalatable spice concoction. Even several minutes in my oven didn't save them and I threw most of them out. The burger was on the smallish side and the taste was passable at best. We went early and there was no line, so we didn't have to wait at all, but I noticed that folks who walked up behind us weren't greeted or asked for their order until ours was ready and out the window--leaving them to wait 2-3 minutes while the truck finished up 1 hotdog, 1 burger, and one order of fries. I had the cheeseburger with fries and was pleasantly surprised with the intensity of the cheese combining well with the freshness of the burger the patty. The burger bun is flaky and has a great smell to it. The patty is cooked perfectly, not overdone nor charred. The fries are pretty sub-par, slightly lacking consistency in their cookery but overall seasoned well and giving a good texture. Will & Pop's offers a good bite to eat with clean flavors and hearty textures. The price point is great for the quality of food that you receive. You have to love Will & Pop's. The first I ever heard of Will & Pop's was from a Groupon. So I figured I would give them a try for the good deal. The food was great, but I think there was some confusion on the Groupon deal with the guy that took the order. So I contacted Will and he told me to find them again and he would make up for it. I would say that is great customer service. With the food, the menu changes depending on the event, and what they have. But no matter what, the menu is always tasty. One thing I love is their fries. They have awesome fries to go along with their tasty burgers. Another thing is that when you go to chain places, their toppings are low quality, but not here at Will & Pop's. You can even follow them on Facebook and Twitter so you can keep up with where they are traveling to. You can generally find them at most of the food truck rodeos around town. There were things that went wrong, long lines, inability to fulfill orders with the first event and the owner indicated that this would be resolved for the second account. The second event the food quality was inferior. the nice young men were nice. They gave me what I owed but no accounting. i presumed that they didn't have this otherwise they would have given it to me. I asked for an accounting after I recovered from being sick I was told it was too late to receive this. I found out later that it appears that the owner subs out this work. When I indicated that we had been unhappy with this, the owner told me that he didn't want to work with me as I am difficult. I hadn't asked for a refund nor for anything I just wanted him to know that their services were subpar so perhaps they wouldn't use this sub again or at least check their quality. I get they are certainly not known for their hot chocolate but at 3.25 each, to be self-served out of a Gatorade cooler was one thing. I finally got a chance to try this truck over the weekend at Fullsteam. It did not disappoint! They had a lot of options written on their chalkboard menu on the side of the truck and it was hard to narrow down my selection. I ended up getting the Mash Up while Josh chose the Gangsta. The Mash Up was two cheeses (cheddar and pepper jack) topped with mango chutney and guacamole. I loved the sandwich - the spicy and the sweet were an awesome combination that I never would have thought would be so good together. Josh also liked his sandwich, which was topped with two cheeses and pulled pork. We also shared the kettle chips, which came in a very large portion and had a bunch of different types of chips (some that we couldn't identify - but we're pretty sure that some were made from beets, some made from sweet potatoes and some made from regular potatoes among them)! They were definitely different than any kettle chips I'd had before, but were pretty good. All in all it was a good lunch for a total of $15 (my sandwich was $6, his was $8 and the chips were $1). The lettuce was cut into strangely size strips, too large for standard lettuce shreds, but not full leaves either. They were crunchy, but too hearty for the patty. The tomato was similarly crudely large slices, disproportionate with the slim patty. The patty itself was thin and far too overcooked, crumbling from the dryness. I could easily have made a better burger at home and I wish I had saved the money instead. The fries were pretty good, but not too special compared to other garlic parmesan fries. I gotta say, between the trippy font, tie-dye decor, Zeppelin soundtrack, and the waist-length dreads sported by one of the guys in the truck, I suspect it began as an idea between guys over a couple blunts -- Jay: "Like, dude, you know what would be *expletive* perfect now, dude? Like, the most awesome *expletive* grilled cheese sandwiches ever! With pulled pork and mango chutney and jerk chicken and other *expletive* crazy *expletive*!" (Followed by lots of lewd words and gestures about naked women eating them, or wearing them, or whatever.) Silent Bob: *nod while lighting up* I mean, they have a sandwich called "The Stoner." A dessert sandwich with banana, peanut butter, and marshmallow. Hmm, wow. Despite not being high, I'm actually craving the sandwich while I write this review. Sandwiches are this food truck's thing, and these sandwiches are fantastically delicious with hilarious names (Poor Wilbur = bacon + tomato). My favorite is the Hot Hippy Chick, which has jerk chicken, guacamole, and habanero cheddar. I'm a spicy girl who loves her spice, and the heat in this sandwich fits perfectly in the context of fresh, skillfully prepared ingredients. I never thought to describe a grilled cheese sandwich as a thing of soul-warming beauty, but...Will & Pop's version is certainly that. The guys use local cheeses and meats, which makes me love them all the more. The truck travels all over the Triangle, but for Durhamites, you can frequently find it outside of Fullsteam on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. What a cute freaking food truck. Tried their veggie burger all the way with cheese Easter Sunday at the Carrboro Food Truck-a-Thon. The staff are pleasant, funny, and speedy. The grilled cheese---particularly The Hipster---looked amazing; definitely want to try that in the future. I'd seen several burgers come out and they were just massive. The veggie burger was the size and consistency of an original Gardenburger and, in fact, was so uniformly shaped---like it had been cut with a cookie cutter---that it made me wonder if it was just a frozen burger that had been grilled, although the slightly orange color of the burger didn't match any store-bought burgers that I have had before, so I can't be sure. What I can tell you is that there was much more bread than veggie burger, but the bread was pretty tasty and the burger itself was delicious, house-made or not. I wish they used, for example, mixed greens instead of iceberg lettuce, but how much can you really expect from a $6 food truck veggie burger? I found the prices reasonable, the menu expansive, and their use of fresh, local ingredients commendable. Also, very, very cool to know that they're serving late-night eats from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights at The Station at Southern Rail in Carrboro. After dark the menu changes, going away from burgers and fries and going towards the best late nite, drunk food ever - Grilled Cheese. These are no normal grilled cheese mind you, even the plainest sandwich they offer, the "Primitive" is three delicious types of cheese, expertly placed between 2 slices of local baked sourdough bread, grilled to perfection with a healthy amount of butter. But please, don't stop there. If you are coming out of a bar, hunger overtaking you, a grilled cheese is great, but please direct your attention to the most amazing sandwich ever to be served out of a truck - the Gangsta. The Gangsta takes the buttery, cheesy, melted Primitive and takes it to the next level, stuffing it was a copious amount of local pulled pork. Yes, pulled pork. In a grilled cheese. When that sandwich comes out of the window, looking all understated in a paper sleeve, you dont know what you are about to experience, but then as you bite into that crunchy bread it hits you - cheesy, melty, meaty, buttery, sour, savory - perfection. Seriously, this sandwich takes drunk food to a whole new level. Aside from the Gangsta, they also have grilled cheese with guacamole, mango chutney, and occasional specials like meatloaf and cheesesteaks.
