I drive by Techs friend everyday on my way home from work, but today I stopped to see if they could fix the GPS on my phone which hasn't worked since I bought it almost a year ago. I didn't want to send my nexus 5 to be fixed under warranty because I have dropped it before and I didn't want to argue with anyone on whether that was the cause of my terrible signal or not... Also my phone is rooted, so I would have to have someone reverse that before I send it for warranty anyway. Nick and Albert were super nice, and when I explained that every time I use google maps it says, "GPS signal lost" they knew that something must have been interfering with the antennae thing inside the phone or that it needed an update. They explained the possibilities and said it could take about 20 minutes to diagnose.... I went to big lots came back 15 minutes later and the phone was done- fixed. Lo and behold, there was a film covering two little contacts for the GPS antennae, like the one that covers the camera when you get the phone new. It definitely wasn't the film that came on my camera because that one is still stuck to the box the phone came in. Also, I have never opened the phone up before (why risk breaking it, I don't know what I'm doing). Must have happened during manufacturing or something they said... I was and am thoroughly impressed! Never have I had such professional and speedy service at the same time. I tested the GPS on my way home and it works PERFECTLY, just like my old nexus 5 that never had this problem. :) Thanks again, guys! read more

These guys are the best!!! I'm a little technology challenged, (ok, maybe a lot more than a little), and these guys always have my back! I've sent a couple of laptops that I thought were done for and not only did they fix the issues, but have sent the computers back promptly and with a little something extra fixed. Aside from major issues, like a hard drive crashing (which has happened to me twice in the past year, ugh) or a cracked iphone screen, I know I can rely on these guys for speedy and fairly cheap service. I've called them several times with iphone issues and they have helped me figure out the problem remotely, saving me money and time from going to the genius bar (we all know how frustrating that place can be!). After my kitten spilled a drink all over my Macbook, a couple keys stopped working. I went to the Apple store where they told me it would be at least $750 and they couldn't guarantee they could fix anything, and my computer was probably completely flooded and dead (even though I was only have issues with a couple keys). I then took it to Techs Friend and they were great! They replaced my keyboard, and made sure nothing else was damaged for a fraction of what Apple wanted and with much better customer service! These guys saved my life! My premature baby was born and I was taking pictures with my digital camera. when I went home to upload the pictures off my sd card I was experiencing issues and the computer was asking me to format the SD. I know enough not to do it, so I called these guys right away. They were able to recuperate all my pictures of my new born premature baby the same day. I spotted this computer repair shop while driving on Okeechobee on the way to Walmart in Hialeah. I stopped in to ask a few questions about my dell laptop. Techs friend did a "free diagnostic" on my hard drive and let me know that it was going bad. They offered to do a data backup for about $50. I did the backup onto 2 dvds.
