Sparing the details, I totally trashed my laptop keyboard, screen, and more, rendering it totally useless. Since I absolutely needed to have it restored to perfect health within 2-3 days, I researched several companies on a friend's computer, and made some calls. My phone call to Tech Tock left me feeling confident that I would be in good hands. My gut feeling aside, they were able to give me a same-day appointment to bring my laptop to their office for an assessment and estimate. I picked an evening time that allowed me to avoid Kennedy and Edens traffic (yay!), so it only took minutes to drive there from Wicker Park. Chanoy listened to my problems, asked some excellent questions, ran a quick test, sourced and ordered the replacement parts in minutes, and promised to have my laptop ready before my deadline. The total estimate was an excellent price, and so I left my laptop to Tech Tock's care. Not only was it ready in time and as per the estimate, Chanoy offered me the option to pick it up downtown just blocks from where I work (he was there for an appointment), to which I readily agreed. My laptop has never run or looked better. Tech Tock, saved me from missing a key deadline, kept its promises, communicated status, and bottom line, delivered an absolutely flawless customer experience. I've only written a few Yelp reviews but I read them. I was moved to write this one. My laptop was not working. I found Tech Tock on Yelp. The reviews were great. I even looked at the reviews that ere not recommended by Yelp and found that they were also great. What impressed me the most was that the owner Chanoy responded to each review. Tells me a lot. I decided to give him a try. He absolutely lives up to his reviews! Not only was he very pleasant and easy to work with but his service was fantastic. I chose to drop off my laptop (he also does pickup) and he was personally involved with my issue. When I dropped it off, the Coronavirus was just getting on a roll I the US. After a few days I heard from Chanoy. He gave me several options as to what he could do and how much it would cost. Best of all, he could swap out my old 5G mechanical hard drive with a new 1TB. Now way faster start up etc. Finally, I'm 67 and when I went to pickup my laptop on March 21, 2020 with Coronavirus "everywhere ". I parked in the Tech Tock lot and called Chanoy. He brought it out wearing gloves and had wiped everything down with Multisurface Formula 401 (kills 99.9% of bacteria and virus. All-in-all, best service and work you could imagine. 7-year old Asus laptop, spacebar became almost non-functional. Grrr. I found an inexpensive replacement keyboard on ebay and, based on location and reviews here decided to contact Tech Tock to see if they could install it for me. Glad I did. It was around the holidays, and Chanoy was busy on field jobs. But, despite the fact that this was hardly a high-revenue project (the labor cost was extremely reasonable), he was very accommodating and even came down to his shop to meet me on Friday when the walk-in location is normally closed. Did the repair quickly while I waited and watched, and then spent some time giving me helpful advice on other issues -- some in response to my questions, and some proactively. Tech Tock is a revelation, a small operation, but as convenient as it gets, with a super savvy owner who is more of a computer architect than a technician, as he immediately takes a look at how your computer is configured and envisions how it will work better. Had a variety of problems, computer crashing, lost files, simply more than I could deal with, but the man is a problem solver, highly efficient, and can work miracles with computers. On top of that, he's as down to earth a guy as you will find.
