This place is a complete joke. Every time I have been in to the store they have been NOTHING but rude and condescending, and being a (self-taught) techie I can say that I know more than they do. The pricing is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I went in and asked for a SIM card tray for an IPhone 4 and the guy said 16.97. I walked to AT&T and got one for free. DO NOT go there for glass/screen replacement or parts for iPhone. As a matter of fact, ask me. Ill do what they do with a smile at a third of the price. They don't even deserve one star. read more

They sold me a $2000 macbook pro and told me it was new. The hard drive failed after 6 months and I took it to an apple store since it was under warranty. I'm usually very skeptical of going to locations that are not Apple stores for my iPhone. However, I did not want to deal with the traffic or the insane amount of wait time so, I decided to try this location. I have an iPhone 7 that needed a screen replacement done as soon as possible. Not only do they charge the same as the Apple store but I also did not have to wait over an hour to get someone to help me. My phone was ready within an hour and a half for pick up. I plan to bring my Mac products in the future to this location. I am very satisfied! read more

This place was a lifesaver. A couple of months ago, I was in LA to attend a conference. I had a new bag that I was using as a laptop bag for the very first time and I made a bad decision. I put my bottled water in the bag with my Macbook Air (less than a year old) and my iPhone6. I had no idea, but on my walk from the parking lot to the conference center, the water bottle opened and spilled all over my computer. Panic set in as I realized what had happened, pulled out the laptop and saw water pouring out of the bottom. This was day 2 of a 5 day conference, so without my laptop I would have been crippled for the week. I knew I had to act fast, but wasn't entirely sure what to do - so I turned to Yelp to find the nearest Apple store and in my search, happened upon Spring Street Mac. I called and explained what happened, and they walked me through their discovery and repair process and the charges associated with checking out and potentially repairing my computer. I hopped in a cab, was there within 30 minutes of the initial spill and they worked with me to get my computer back to me later that same day. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. And while I certainly wasn't planning on spending almost $400 on my computer that day, it was nice to know that these guys were there to help me out and save the day. id like to start this by saying "DO NOT GO HERE!!!!" A quick back story.. I went there to get a cracked iphone 6 screen repaired, after returning, everything looked fine, i payed ($130) and left, as i was walking up the street the guy who helped me prior stopped me and said "did they tell you about your battery? its swollen and needs to be replaced." in shock that they didnt tell me before paying or by calling my gf's number that i left informing me (which i would have had them replaced if so) they said "its too late to do now but you can come back" Knowing my battery held a charge almost all day i wasnt too worried. The next day i left to go on tour for a month and immediately figured out that my battery charge lasted on a FULL charge ON battery saver mode maybe 2 hours, often dying suddenly and without warning despite showing a charge. Then the next day i pull my phone from my pocket to realize a crack right from the bulge of the battery. Furious, I was forced to buy a portable charger ($75) to get me through the day just because i wanted them to fix their mistake which i now regret almost as much as going there in the first place. That brings us to present. Today i went in there explaining the full story and situation to 2 employees who said "well what do you want us to do?" and finally the manager (all incompetent) who said that there is no way he can fix it for free, that my theory of the tech guy accidentally swapping my working battery with a bad one isn't possible. (which after reading the fine print on the receipt they sometimes use "refurbished parts") Sick of dealing with incompetence i agree to pay for a battery ($55) dollars. They inform me its finished, i come back, and they put the crack screen back on it... I hold in my rage of jumping over the counter and calmly ask for the manager and after some words get them to fix the screen for free. hour later im back, screen is fixed and leave. At this point you would think this ordeal is over but sadly, its not. I get home and after looking at a white background i notice a big blue smudge on the bottom of the screen. I eat a little xanax to calm myself and prevent any assault charges then return for the now 5th time in total. I show the buffoon tech the issue and he says "oh your phone is bent, nothing we can do about that sorry" I tell them that this is the worst service i have ever gotten and im leaving them a review. With my phone still in his hands he grabs it and walks away with it in hand informing me i better not leave a bad review. moments later after he realized taking my phone wouldn't be the safest bet for him he gives it back and i walk out. As im crossing Spring St heading home he bursts out the door and screams at me from the front "YOU SIGNED A CONTRACT SAYING YOU CANT LEAVE A BAD REVIEW! IF YOU DO YOU'LL BE HEARING FROM OUR LAWYERS!" So that is the kind of business (if you can call it that) this is. My simple cracked screen has now cost me $260 dollars not including my time or anguish. Let's start off with the basics, I broke an iPhone 7 Plus screen and wanted to fix it. Most places were charging me around 200 bucks for the screen and labor. I bought the screen myself and decided to give it a shot, no luck didn't have the time so I called this place because it was convenient (or so I thought). I called around 10:30am and asked hem how much to fix my 7, the guy tells me sorry were out of stock, so then I tell him, I have the screen I just need it replaced, he comes back to me and CLEARLY tells me, for just the labor of switching the screen is 59$ so I say it back just so I can be clear, 59$ for the labor of my LCD screen on my 7 plus, he says yes. Okay come 2:30 pm I go in and show them my phone and the screen I bought (don't think it's the guy from the phone). He tells me it'll be 150, I'm like what? He says yeah you know because it's a new phone and all, I tell him yeah but I called earlier and it was 59$ for the change? He says the same thing so I just leave. The audacity to be so unprofessional as to try and bs me into spending more once I'm there is unbelievable. I mean you're telling me I pay 140$ for the screen then another 150$ just to exchange the screens? Where do they think that's normal? I'm spending 290$ when I could just go to my carrier and spend the 180 to get a new phone. Glad I didn't give them my business and will never do so. read more

these guys are seriously awesome! I have a Macbook Pro that's a few years old and was so slow. I was about ready to sell it and buy a new computer as it needed MAJOR updating. I took it to Spring Street Mac to see what they could to do improve it before taking the leap and spending $1500 on a brand new computer and they were able to upgrade my whole system and now my computer runs like new! I was there on 12/7 around 5:30 pm and a guy at the front desk was rude. He seemed liken in a BAD mood. since many yelpers like this place.. maybe i was unlucky to have this guy helping me out. anyways.. here is my review I had a water damaged macbook, and i explained to him about the situatiion and asked how much possibly it would cost for the worst case of the scenario. Th guy said he has no idea. Even though the place was empty that time, he didnt even dare to take a quick look at my macbook and estimate what i should expect. No explanation ... and he just told me it will cost $ 68 for diagnose and clean up. Mr, i wouldnt give away my computer to someone who doesnt even know what they plan to do to with my computer and rudely treating me. I dont even know why he is working there if he has nothing to say or suggest on my problem , i asked him, so.. if you find any problems with my macbook.. will that 68 go to the additional repair? no... 68 is just for the diagnose lol I ended up going to the other place where its more busy , but still they open up the macbook infront of you right away and tell you what could be the possiblity and so on.... and their diagnose fee goes to the repair fee if i end up repaing there. That guy works there on friday night , you were not there to help me... but to make me feel worse. I will never see you again ! read more

Jason is the bomb! Here is the story: My lovely friend told me to make my imac computer work faster, I should just take my applications folder to the trash and then delete it! Duh, I lost everything and completely freaked! My computer also locked up and the screen went black. I was so distraught and losing sleep over my 30k in photos and a half written book that were inaccessible/lost! I had the good fortune of meeting Jason! I had no idea there were specialty stores that worked on mac products! I just assumed I was out of luck after taking my computer to the official Mac Store and heard other's stories about paying $800 to restore computers in similar peril!! As I said I had the good fortune of meeting Jason, not knowing about Spring Street Mac!! Jason told me to drop off my computer, he would even pick it up from my car curbside! I felt so relieved when he told me, there were things that could be done to repair it after the Mac store had told me it was a lost cause and there was nothing they could do. FANTASTIC SERVICE! I was very worried when my MacBook Pro seemed to short-circuit on me a few weeks ago. It appeared that it was never turning on again and that my data may be lost or corrupted. I drove down to SSM on the advice of a friend who has had positive experiences there before. Greg was tremendously friendly and helpful. Within 20 minutes he took the laptop apart, found the problem and solved it. On top saving my digital life with his work reviving my computer, once it booted back up Greg optimized my MacBook's settings so it would run better. Three weeks later I am completely pleased with my computer's performance and SSM's service. I also picked up a couple new cables for my iPhone and iPad while I was there. I found their prices to be very reasonable and their customer service to be top notch. I will definitely be returning to SSM for any issues I have with Apple products in the future. I cracked the front and back of my face plate to my Iphone 4S, thinking it was not salvageable. I had just recently bought the phone and surely wasn't in line for another upgrade so I was pissed that I would have to pay full price for a new phone. I asked some friends and they recommended me to Spring Street Mac in DTLA. Surely enough, not only were they very helpful in restoring my phone, they had different colors to choose from for both front/back covers, home button and even the outside lining. I was able to create a unique color Iphone and at a reasonable price. Very happy to find this place and save a couple hundreds of dollars not having to replace my phone. I went in with a 2009 (ish, got it used to I'm not exactly sure) MacBook Pro that was majorly overheating and with performance issues that made me think either the fan or one of the drives was about to go south. The very unaggressive counter guy suggested that we look at the battery and asked what kind of surface I worked on. The battery was severely warped (the shelf life for these things is only four, maybe five years tops). He also said that if I'm working on a wood surface (I am) the machine will overheat and that can sometimes shorten the battery life. So, for less than $130, I walked out with a new battery and a set of feet to put under the machine to increase airflow. Problems solved. No downtime. Their diagnostics are only $45 (and that goes towards repairs) but at no time did they suggest that I leave it overnight. I pushed for the battery replacement, in fact. My mac is running better than it ever has and I'm running the fan at the lowest RPM without any heating issues. These guys are awesome. read more

My iPhone fell out of my pocket and it stopped making calls (no reception). I took it in to Spring Street Mac where Mike opened it up, found the problem (antenna had disconnected), and fixed it all within 2 minutes. When I asked what the charge was he replied "none".
