My computer had been dealing with slow boot times and weird hiccups for a while, and I honestly had no idea what was causing it. Shaun dug deep and found the real issue: my SSD had some serious corruption going on along with a blown up startup file. Stuff I never would've caught on my own. He got it sorted out and running the way it should. On top of that, he installed a brand new second SSD for me to use for AI and LLM training, which was huge since I've been getting more into that side of things. While he was in there he also optimized my system (about a 10% performance boost on top of everything), got all my fans running off a single program instead of a mess of different software, and even reorganized my components so some ports that had stopped working were usable again. He also threw in a few recommendations for things I could do down the line to keep my PC running well. I've recommended them, defended them, and even did so in-store less than 24 hours before this went sideways. Then it fell apart. I dropped off my laptop at 2:30 p.m. for what I was told was a simple job: remove a RAID controller, copy data, and install a second SSD. I was promised it was "easy," that data transfer was the only real step, and that I'd have it back by 2 p.m. the next day. I was signed up for text updates--none came. At 5:45 p.m. that same day, I called to check in. I was told the transfer was "60-70% done." Two other people heard that call. The next day was a string of delays, missed calls, and vague updates. By 4:30 p.m.--well past the promised deadline--I finally learned the truth: no data had been transferred, no work had been done, and the laptop hadn't even been turned on. (Alienware logs don't lie.) Then came the real problem: Jonas. Instead of owning the failure, he pivoted to condescension and denial--telling me I "don't understand RAID," insisting no one promised a next-day turnaround, claiming my SSD was defective (it isn't), and denying statements multiple people heard firsthand. In short, the story changed, the facts didn't, and I was treated like the problem. Meanwhile, I can't get anyone to tell me my data was safe; I was panicking as any normal person would. I have backups, scattered across several drives and will take days to recover to 90% of what was on the laptop. I got the laptop back around 5 p.m., untouched until 3:30 that afternoon--hours after I was told work was already mostly complete. How do I know this? Because every powerup, every keystroke is logged by the laptop's security system. See shots below: One can see exactly when it was plugged in. Mistakes happen. I can deal with delays and mistakes. We're all human. What I don't tolerate is being misled, talked down to, and effectively called a liar when there's clear evidence otherwise, indicating precisely who did what and when. Curious isn't it, how some business project their own failings onto others, rather than just honestly owning the problem and making it right? That's how I manage my clients, anyway. Explain the failure, offer a solution, make it right, and everybody stays friendly. I'd never consider insulting a client; it cost a lot to gain them, and it's easily 30X more costly to lose one. As I'll do on every review site I can find after the insults tossed at me. What a shame; my most trusted go-to gone means now finding their replacement.

THIS IS A MADE UP REVIEW. -How long will it stay up? Hello, I'm one of the owners and co-founder of Tech2U and I have a story to tell. Yelp has filtered eleven 5 star customer reviews and one 4 star review (click on the link for filtered reviews at the bottom of Tech2U's page) but only shows a couple negative reviews in order to retaliate against us for not advertising with them. Many experienced Yelpers have had their reviews removed from our page. Yelp has been accused, and convicted, recently of this unethical practice. However, countless small business owner's continue to be victimized by their mafia-like shakedown tactics. Below are excerpts from recent newspaper articles on the subject. Tech2U was founded and continues to be guided by the same principles of trust, honor, communication, care and compassion, and of course excellent technical skills which have allowed us to thrive in a highly competitive and sometimes less than reputable computer repair industry. But we're not perfect. We sometimes mess up and have occasionally received legitimate negative reviews. We always attempt to go the extra mile to resolve issues for customers at no charge or in some cases we have no problem refunding money. We're not in this business to take advantage of people. We believe long term relationships are the key to long term success. Negative reviews, which are fair and balanced, are a part of doing business. It gives consumers back the power to stand up to poorly run or unkind businesses. We're all for that type of transparency. What we're not for is the abuse of that system of trust by a multi-billion dollar review bully. Reviews should be displayed fairly, not based on who spends money with Yelp. Here are some clips of recent articles: Negative reviews are not the only bait that Yelp employees apparently use to attract advertisers. Some business owners believe Yelp sales reps remove positive reviews when they refuse to buy an ad. Robert Gaustad, co-owner of Bobby G's Pizzeria in Berkeley, said that about a year ago a Yelp sales rep offered to "move good reviews to the top to make us look better." Since declining to advertise, approximately fifteen to twenty of his restaurant's reviews -- mostly positive -- have been removed for reasons he can't figure out. Gaustad said his complaints have gone unheard but that a Yelp sales rep told him his complaints would be heard if he advertised. In an e-mail from salesman Ethan Davidoff, which he read to this reporter, Davidoff told Gaustad that if he paid for an ad, "you will have access to an account manager who will help keep your page up-to-date and ... you will never have to ever wait again to talk with Yelp about your listing and issue with reviews." A San Francisco wedding photographer relayed a similar story. About two years ago, a Yelp sales rep contacted her to advertise. The photographer -- we'll call her "Mary" -- declined the offer. But the sales rep was pushy; Mary said she received about three phone calls and as many as ten e-mails per week asking her to advertise. Still, she declined. "All of a sudden my reviews started disappearing," she said. "I called them up and said, 'I'm a little curious why my reviews are disappearing.' They said, 'Well, people stop reviewing, we take them down.' ... I talked to the clients -- they're still actively reviewing." "Ellen," who only agreed to be interviewed if not identified by name, owns an Oakland business with more than twenty Yelp reviews, and averages a 4.5-star rating. She says she began to receive solicitations to advertise soon after her business began receiving positive customer reviews. But she declined. "The prices were cost-prohibitive," she recalled telling the sales rep. "I can't pay $300 a month when I pay $90 for Google AdWords. After that, reviews started to disappear." When Ellen questioned her sales rep as to why some reviews had disappeared, the rep told her reviews can be taken down based on the company's algorithm. Reviewers must follow certain guidelines to post a legitimate review, the rep replied. "They had to have pictures, friends, be part of the community," Ellen recalled the rep telling her. But Ellen says the reviews that were removed fit the profile of acceptable reviews. Ellen turned down the offer again, and more reviews disappeared. She says she's now down to 50 percent of her original reviews. "Just today I got three more e-mails from Yelp. They're aggressive. ... For the first time, I called Tech2U because my computer "died" when I turned it on two days ago. I had never had this happen. I was very fearful that all my data was lost. Via internet postings, I chose Tech2U. "Shane" took my call for help on Sunday. Shane listened to my narrative explanation, and then was very reassuring that if the computer is fixable, Tech2U can fix it. That alone gave me initial peace of mind. "Jonathan" came to my home the very next day on Monday. What a relief that I did not have to wait for days to learn the status of my computer! Jonathan was amazing! He is really an expert, which was evident to me when he started analyzing the computer. He found the problem, fixed everything so that the computer "came back alive". Jonathan saved all of my existing data. He also reviewed the computer thoroughly to fix any other existing problems that were not yet known. He installed an anti-virus program on the computer. Jonathan arrived on time and began working immediately -- he wasted no time. He was professional, courteous, and respectful. I had earlier employed a Las Vegas Computer service for repairing my PC.They took a very long time in fixing my computer that had crashed. I use my computer for business and as you might understand- time is money. They repaired my computer for almost an entire month before it was finished. And by finished, I mean in nearly the same working condition in which I had taken it to them. It still wasn't running properly and I couldn't access all my important files. I was very upset that the work wasn't completed properly and that I had to send it back for another extended period of time. I was told through the grapevine about another computer repair company called Tech Service 2 U. Rumor was they could fix just about anything in the shortest period of time with better rates. I gave them a try and was pleased to learn everything I had heard about them was right. I was very pleased with my experience. I brother who lives in a Nursing home had spilled something on his computer. I picked it up and took it to Ronny Mansur at Tech2U on Lake Meade and Buffalo. They did the diagnostic for free in a couple of days. Because my brother is on a very fixed income I told them that I would have to pick it up until he had enough funds to pay for the $150 repair. It took him about a month and a half but at last I was able to take it back for the repair. Ronny remembered me and my brothers situation and when they opened it up and started doing the repair he realized that it would need more work. Because of the situation he not only did the original repair he went above and beyond for my brother. basically he upgraded the computer to a much better one even giving him windows 11. I flew into town for a convention that I was presenting in last week. Of course I didn't think to bring a backup laptop with me. The day before the presentation my laptop stopped working. I took it into these guys because they were pretty close to where I was staying and let them know the urgency. The called me about an hour after having it in their shop and let me know the hard disk had failed and needed to be replaced. They got me upgraded to a solid state hard drive which they said was more reliable and faster. Sure enough, a total of four hours after it was dropped off I had a perfectly working laptop with all my stuff still intact. It started up and ran MUCH faster than ever before. This company may be a little expensive, but they are worth every penny, especially to a senior citizen who has to work online. My main computer was acting wonky (black screen soon after starting). So I called Tech2U since they had worked with me in the past very successfully. Jonathan came out and spent quite some time diagnosing the problem and making it so I could get my work done on the secondary computer. All is working well on the secondary one, thank heaven. No lost data!! The old one (4-5 yrs old) has a bad hard drive and motherboard. It would cost more to repair it than to replace it, so I will need to replace it. They ran diagnostics, reflashed the BIOS, and did it all without wiping my drives or losing a single file. That kind of attention to detail is rare. Yelp has a set character count so here is a shortened version of my review: I brought my PC in with a clear issue: apps crashing, and a Windows reinstall that kept failing partway through. Before bringing it in, I spent 8 hours troubleshooting on my own and narrowed it down to two likely causes -- a corrupted Windows install or a bad CPU. I explained all of this on the phone and again in person when I dropped it off, and was told I'd get a diagnosis the same day. That didn't happen. I had to call an hour before closing just to get an update, and was told to wait until the next day. When they finally called, they flip-flopped on the diagnosis multiple times within a few hours -- first confirming a corrupted Windows install, then claiming it was fixed, then reversing again to say it was still corrupted. They quoted me $90 for a data transfer and $110 for a Windows reinstall. Since I had my own install media, I said I only needed the transfer -- and the price for that alone jumped to $180, with the excuse that it was only "discounted" when bundled with their install. I paid it anyway to protect my files. When I picked up the PC, they assured me -- twice, after I directly asked -- that reinstalling Windows myself at home would work fine. It didn't. I hit the exact same crash I'd described to them from day one. When I called back, they admitted they'd never actually tested the CPU, despite me flagging it as a likely cause from the start. When I asked why I'd paid $180 for a data transfer I didn't need, they gave excuses and contradicted themselves -- first offering free CPU installation (which takes minutes and isn't a real concession), then claiming the transfer would've been necessary regardless, which wasn't true since I could have accessed my files for free from the other drive. When I brought the PC back in, I watched the tech Google my exact problem before telling me they'd "seen this before." The CPU warranty process was its own headache: days of unanswered messages, a lie that it had already been shipped when it hadn't, and them dodging my calls entirely. I called twice in ten minutes and got voicemail both times; a friend called the same number seconds later and got through immediately. The one good part of this experience was an employee named Charlie, who was consistently kind and professional, even helping carry my PC from the car. Everyone else I dealt with was dismissive and dishonest. End result: I paid $180 for work I didn't need, got no refund or compensation for their misdiagnosis, wasted well over a week, and felt completely scammed. I won't be returning.
