This guy knew nothing about liquid-cooled pc's I took mine in,because it was crashing on a few games and he assumed the water cool was failing and he couldn't give me a straight answer. He said the pump was failing but it works perfectly fine. He also said when the pc first start up the pc was reaching 100° celsius. Which that is impossible. My husband had no issues with his computer, mine was another story! They had it on Monday, a broken hinge. Seen it before, they said. It's the heat, they said. They promised I could have it by Thursday. I told them I could get the screws that were missing from the bottom (I had left them on the table back home from when my son had tried to fix it) No problem, they said, we have lots around, we'll replace them. Noted on invoice. No Screws. When I called on Thursday (they hadn't called me so I was worried) they told me the monitor was shot. I knew that! I didnt take it there to fix the monitor, it was the hinge that was busted. Why hadnt they called me sooner, I asked. 'I was just getting ready to,' he said. Okay, just fix the hinge, I said. Next story, one guy presumably took it 'home' and his 'wife lost it' You're kidding me? 'She' even texted me a story. When they finally 'found and fixed it' the laptop STILL didn't close all the way, so we refused it until they could make it right. Finally went to pick it up and the guy says 'All the screws are missing.' DUH. Almost two weeks later...ugh, worst computer repair experience I've ever had. read more

Since I noticed that Gareth posted the first part of our email dialogue, I thought I'd post the second half. It contains my response and reasons why I wouldn't retract my previous review: 1. I never got the original ram upgrade or heard from your company regarding it. 2. I lost two weeks worth of work. 3. My computer runs slower (the latency time for audio signals "round trip" is 10ms longer than before). 4. At one point when I questioned the shipping delay and the authenticity regarding replacement parts, Tony got angry and told me that if I didn't like it, "you can take your computer back and sue me." Although my initial experience with your company was positive, my most recent one was horrible, so I won't be changing my review. I lost time, I lost money, and had to take BS from Tony, who could use a "Customer Service 101" refresher. Absolutely worst service you could get, the one guy in there had no idea what he was doing. Went in there and show him that this is what I need and this is what I talked to his partner about, but he said that this isn't clear enough and told me he didn't want to play any games. I'm paying for the service and this guy thinks it's a game. Unless you want to waste your time and energy, do not come here, this guy who that I talked to clearly has some temper issues, he got triggered because I said "no man", a man-child to say the least. Edit: I brought my computer to another store, explained to the guy what I wanted and we had a deal in under 2 minutes!! I went here for a simple screen problem and later on there's another problem with my MacBook .and I dj and needed it a certain time to be fixed and he didn't care and the owner is not reliable, he's not responsive in sending notifications or letting you know anything with your pending computer. This is the only computer repair place I would go in town because Tony is great and he knows his stuff! This place is a little shack located in not so great of a neighborhood. Next to some sort of veteran organization. This place is 20 miles away from where I live but it's worth it. I have been to so many computer repair guys in the past because I am professional on breaking all kinds of electronic devices. Usually those guys rip my butt off taking advantage of me not having any computer knowledge. Tony would never rip me off! He is so patient with me asking him a million of questions (stupid ones, too because I have no knowledge of computers). All the other computer people I dealt with got so annoyed because of this but Tony answers all my questions pleasantly, I think. Matt is great, too. He comes to my house (I have a home office) and fix anything. When I am away from the office, he uses remote program and fixes any problems. After bringing my computer to them for what they said was a simple screen replacement (taking over a month with not even an update of the status) I had to contact them for them to tell me it was complete. As I got my device I found cat foot print on the inside of the screen as well as a large gap I'm the case where they did not close it properly. Upon contacting them in regards to the issues I was requested to bring it back to have them fix the issues. 2 months later also with no contact from them and after I call multiple time I finally was able to pick it. After getting it back after in total of 3 months of not having my PC I am running in to more and more problems such as a weird RGB test that will go for 10 to 15 minutes before starting and the built-in camera not working not being able to open multiple program. My husband's older laptop failed to boot-up on a Friday morning. My husband used this laptop for software development and it had been three days since he last backed-up the memory. We took the laptop to CompuDoc for a diagnostic and emphasized to Tony that our main concern was getting the data off the hard-drive so my husband would not lose any of his work. Within about 90 minutes after dropping off the laptop, Tony called and said the motherboard not worth repairing or replacing, especially since it was an older computer. However, he could transfer the data off the hard drive to an external drive, and then we would be able to put the data on a new laptop. We purchased an external drive and gave it to Tony on Saturday. Tony started the transfer of all the laptop's hard drive data on Saturday but it had not been completed by Monday morning when he thought it would be ready. On Monday, my husband was able to work with Tony to just transfer the files he needed to the external drive. Although Tony quoted us $55 for the diagnostic and $55 for the data transfer, he only charged us $44 due to the delay and because we used our "Angie's List" coupon. We felt that Tony was straight with us and concerned about providing us the best advice for our situation, and very accommodating to our needs and was extremely fair with his pricing. Wow, Gareth and crew really know their stuff! I fancy myself a computer guy, and even double as a Linux Systems Administrator in my current job, but couldn't for the life of me figure out what was making my computer go so slow. Prior to booting the computer up, Gareth and one of the other employees already had a couple of guesses based on the symptoms I gave them. They had to hold my computer overnight, but in less than 20 hours I was called with the exact problem and a solution. It turns out my hard drive was busted from general wear and tear (I've had the thing for exactly 5 years) and Gareth gave me a few options on how to fix it. He has a very reasonable price plan for diagnostics, labor, and parts, but in the end I figured it's time to put this outdated hunk of technology out to pasture. From what he told me, he also helps with tablets/phones and does windows/macs. We have a variety of all of these in our house and now I know where to go if any of these start giving me issues. I live in the centennial area and have been severely burned by the repair shops up here (I'm look at you Friendly Computers and Laptop Xchange), so it was a breath of fresh air to find Compudoc. Who would have thought there could be an honest, skilled, and reasonably priced service anywhere in this town? By the end of my time, I was merely charged for the diagnostic for my system (no hidden fees or upselling). I have no idea how this computer repair place is rated so highly. As I first walked in, I was blasted with the smell of cat urine. There are stains in the carpet and animal hair all over the place. The Guy that attempted to help me, which I believe is the owner, Gareth, was also quite unprofessional. He looked like he just got off of a 5 day bender. I just came into the store to get my laptop repaired that I use for work. The Laptop fan seemed to be running full blast all the time and I did not know why. Obviously at this point I am probably not doing business here, but I will not judge a book by it's cover. So I start talking to him, he seems a bit arrogant. I was just trying to ask some questions since I do not know much about computers myself. I felt belittled and disrespected by the way he was talking to me. So at this point, I am trying to leave. I feel very uncomfortable. He then tries to upsell me all this random stuff and tell me some stuff I need after absolutely disrespecting me. Apparently I needed all these different parts for it. I left. Never again. I received a second opinion from another repair place. It turns out I just needed to have the inside cleaned. Fan works great now! ROCK SOLID Gareth Spicer is a formidable technician and service provider. He bailed me out when my antique iBook G4 crashed. I was lazy and complacent about backing up my files. I was living in a fantasy world. I paid dearly--$400. Along with all my vital docs and spreadsheets, Gareth was even able to bring back my Internet bookmarks, which I didn't think would be possible. The $400 was painful, but having my precious files recovered was priceless. If you think you can find a better deal, I say good luck with that. Gareth is very busy, so don't expect him to schmooze. He's busy because dependable, rock-solid providers are hard to find. He graciously took time to answer some questions while pausing every minute to take phone calls. What's the best way to back up your files? It doesn't matter! Just back 'em up! How simple is that? I'm using a 32GB thumb stick. Now that I know how easy it is, I feel like a complete idiot for having to come to Gareth in the first place. I'm gradually becoming tech savvy! I use Google calendar to send me a daily reminder: Backup! BATTERY MYSTERY SOLVED Gareth knows how to talk to a tech simpleton like me. He's very patient and understanding. I asked him about the laptop battery dilemma. For years people have told me Don't leave your laptop plugged in. Unplug it, discharge the battery, then plug it back in. When it's charged, unplug it again. It sounds so impractical. It turns out the "plug and unplug" crowd are right. In as little as six months, Gareth says, you can ruin a laptop battery by leaving it plugged in. My iBook battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few minutes. Gareth's solution is idiotically simple. Just take the battery out when you're not using it! Laptop batteries are easily removed. If you're working at your desk, run the laptop from house current. Slide the battery in when you're on the move. Now I know why so many laptop users are frantic to find an outlet. They've worn out their batteries. Just remember where you put your battery! I keep mine in my laptop case. You can save a few bucks by doing your own demo work. Lucinda, the mechanical one in the family, tore apart the useless iBook in no time and dragged out the hard drive. If you don't need the latest and greatest in technology consider getting a refurbished machine from Amazon. I got a perfectly good MacBook for $400. I consider myself pretty computer savvy - I'm a blogger, programmed my old original website in HTML and do digital artwork and sound editing for fun. When my roommate's secondhand laptop arrived loaded with viruses, bots, and useless software to beat the band, I reformatted it and reinstalled windows. When there were drivers missing and I couldn't even connect to the internet via cable I realized that it would be far less stress to go to a location where they had the necessary upgrades and drivers than to mull through it online, throw it on a flash, load it onto the computer and hope it was the right one or that I didn't need another complimentary driver or two to get done what I needed to do. So I saw Yelp's glowing reviews of Compudoc and took myself over there. Interesting space, older Vegas home transformed into an office. A gentleman and a girl chatted with me a bit and he pretty much fixed everything as well as saw a potential problem that was right on the money (that my wi-fi encryption was going to be a hurdle for it this older model's internet capabilities so he upgraded it). He did 45 minutes worth of work and charged me half an hour and foresaw some future problems. Easy to talk to and affordable. I also had a real issue with one of my laptops that needed all of my files off of the crashing hard drive! They had to spend some real time with this because of the crashing problem, but they managed to get ALL of the information from the drive and put that info on the laptop that I had selected from their used laptop cabinet. Let me start by saying I have used Gareth for years & he even build my desktop which was ruined by a house flood. I took my laptop in early last year when some type of glitch appeared. After several trips back with a repair that could not be fixed he switched it out for a different used one to me. Well last year my desktop computer was hacked by some reprobates from Nigeria & all kinds of tickets were stolen to the tune of over 100K! Long story and even the FBI got involved. I was told I needed to run a professional scan that showed I did NOT give out my sign in credentials or open a false email on purpose & that I had the necessary computer security software in place. I took it in to Gareth & was told it would be a few days to run this. It ended up taking a couple of weeks after many different excuses & I told him I needed some kind of proof of this. All he did was give me a receipt for several hundred dollars the work showing he had run this & told me he had the same type of thing happen with his system and his banking information. Ths was not sufficient according to my attorney & I asked for more and was told that was the only thing they would provide, which I'm sure to avoid any other legal ramifications on his part. I had to pay another company even more for other scans and added several other hi tech security software/malware/key scrambler programs. In the end I don't know whether he is overworked or the fact that he is only open afternoons at this location, but the rude treatment of a long & loyal customer, knowing how stressed I was and a, being sued for this fiasco, was not taken into account. They diagnosed the problem and had it up and running within the week. They were fast, honest, and right on when they gave me an estimate and parts to replace and repair.
