I tried everything--reseating the CPU, replacing thermal paste, checking all the cables and connections--and still got nothing. My PC wouldn't post, not even the BIOS would load. I needed to take my PC to the doctor. At first, I considered going through the warranty process, but that would've meant a long wait and dealing with an RMA (which, trust me, you do not want to deal with). After exhausting all my options, I brought my rig to Computer Repair LV--and I'm so glad I did. I dropped it off at 11am, and by the next day, my system was ready to come home. They ran diagnostics, reflashed the BIOS, and did it all without wiping my drives or losing a single file. That kind of attention to detail is rare. You can tell they're passionate about their work, and I completely trust them with my setup. I even slapped their magnetic business card on my fridge the second I got home--because I know I'll be going back anytime I need work done. Yelp has a set character count so here is a shortened version of my review: I brought my PC in with a clear issue: apps crashing, and a Windows reinstall that kept failing partway through. Before bringing it in, I spent 8 hours troubleshooting on my own and narrowed it down to two likely causes -- a corrupted Windows install or a bad CPU. I explained all of this on the phone and again in person when I dropped it off, and was told I'd get a diagnosis the same day. That didn't happen. I had to call an hour before closing just to get an update, and was told to wait until the next day. When they finally called, they flip-flopped on the diagnosis multiple times within a few hours -- first confirming a corrupted Windows install, then claiming it was fixed, then reversing again to say it was still corrupted. They quoted me $90 for a data transfer and $110 for a Windows reinstall. Since I had my own install media, I said I only needed the transfer -- and the price for that alone jumped to $180, with the excuse that it was only "discounted" when bundled with their install. I paid it anyway to protect my files. When I picked up the PC, they assured me -- twice, after I directly asked -- that reinstalling Windows myself at home would work fine. It didn't. I hit the exact same crash I'd described to them from day one. When I called back, they admitted they'd never actually tested the CPU, despite me flagging it as a likely cause from the start. When I asked why I'd paid $180 for a data transfer I didn't need, they gave excuses and contradicted themselves -- first offering free CPU installation (which takes minutes and isn't a real concession), then claiming the transfer would've been necessary regardless, which wasn't true since I could have accessed my files for free from the other drive. When I brought the PC back in, I watched the tech Google my exact problem before telling me they'd "seen this before." The CPU warranty process was its own headache: days of unanswered messages, a lie that it had already been shipped when it hadn't, and them dodging my calls entirely. I called twice in ten minutes and got voicemail both times; a friend called the same number seconds later and got through immediately. The one good part of this experience was an employee named Charlie, who was consistently kind and professional, even helping carry my PC from the car. Everyone else I dealt with was dismissive and dishonest. End result: I paid $180 for work I didn't need, got no refund or compensation for their misdiagnosis, wasted well over a week, and felt completely scammed. I won't be returning.

I've recommended them, defended them, and even did so in-store less than 24 hours before this went sideways. Then it fell apart. I dropped off my laptop at 2:30 p.m. for what I was told was a simple job: remove a RAID controller, copy data, and install a second SSD. I was promised it was "easy," that data transfer was the only real step, and that I'd have it back by 2 p.m. the next day. I was signed up for text updates--none came. At 5:45 p.m. that same day, I called to check in. I was told the transfer was "60-70% done." Two other people heard that call. The next day was a string of delays, missed calls, and vague updates. By 4:30 p.m.--well past the promised deadline--I finally learned the truth: no data had been transferred, no work had been done, and the laptop hadn't even been turned on. (Alienware logs don't lie.) Then came the real problem: Jonas. Instead of owning the failure, he pivoted to condescension and denial--telling me I "don't understand RAID," insisting no one promised a next-day turnaround, claiming my SSD was defective (it isn't), and denying statements multiple people heard firsthand. In short, the story changed, the facts didn't, and I was treated like the problem. Meanwhile, I can't get anyone to tell me my data was safe; I was panicking as any normal person would. I have backups, scattered across several drives and will take days to recover to 90% of what was on the laptop. I got the laptop back around 5 p.m., untouched until 3:30 that afternoon--hours after I was told work was already mostly complete. How do I know this? Because every powerup, every keystroke is logged by the laptop's security system. See shots below: One can see exactly when it was plugged in. Mistakes happen. I can deal with delays and mistakes. We're all human. What I don't tolerate is being misled, talked down to, and effectively called a liar when there's clear evidence otherwise, indicating precisely who did what and when. Curious isn't it, how some business project their own failings onto others, rather than just honestly owning the problem and making it right? That's how I manage my clients, anyway. Explain the failure, offer a solution, make it right, and everybody stays friendly. I'd never consider insulting a client; it cost a lot to gain them, and it's easily 30X more costly to lose one. Clients share experiences. Here, and elsewhere. And people trust those shares of personal experiences. shared on review sites. As I'll do on every review site I can find after the insults tossed at me. What a shame; my most trusted go-to gone means now finding their replacement.

I recently moved to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, where I bought a new HP computer a little over a year ago. The warranty had already lapsed. I haven't had any computer problems until this past weekend when I downloaded an update that HP said I needed since I recently upgraded my Windows 8 to 8.1. My windows update went fine. No issues. However, when I did the HP update that's when everything went dead. When the HP update was completed, the instruction was to restart my computer. I did, and then the trouble began. Windows was not loading. My computer was no longer working. I figured this will be a couple hundred bucks to fix. Fortunately, I searched Yelp a few months while ago when I heard a humming sound coming from my computer. I thought I might need to get it checked, but then the humming sound stopped. So I didn't have it checked, But I kept the name of the company that I found on Yelp, Compudoc Computer Repair. I called Compudoc this morning at 9:45 AM. Spoke to Tony. After I told him what happened with my HP update, much to my surprise he said "that's something we might be able to fix over the phone" (mind you...he was not charging me, just giving me a few easy things to do that might solve the problem). Well, it did not do the trick, so took my CPU & I went to see them in person. Met with Tony and Casey, both very knowledgeable. They spent about 15 minutes working on the computer as I watched them, and BINGO!!!! fixed. These guys know their stuff! They don't try to sell you something you don't need or scare you into thinking you've got a big problem. Instead, what they do is fix the problem as quickly as possible, without any fuss. I was thinking this was going to cost me a bunch...I was wrong. It wound up costing me about 1/6th of what I thought would have been a reasonable price. I am very impressed with this honest and very professional business. I will never have to stress over any computer issues again, now that I found Compudoc. read more

My laptop which I bought in December of 2007 started giving me problems... & last week, 3/18, it just froze every time I try to turn it on. tried everything but could not get it going. The next morning I decided to bring it to Staples where they have a computer repair department. The guy there that took care of me could not start my laptop after trying for almost 15 minutes he gave up & said that I should just buy a new one. I then decided to look thru the internet for another repair shop & found Compudoc Computer repair shop located at 708 S. Jones Blvd in Las Vegas, brought my laptop that same afternoon. The guy there, Tony Azevedo took care of me, asked me what the problem was, I explained to him... he turned on my laptop, started pressing a few keys & was able to turn it on. ran some diagnostic & told me that because my laptop was 8 years old already the hard drive was burned out... He said that they could replace the hard drive with a new & bigger memory & clone all my files & apps from the old drive to the new one. He gave me an estimate of how much it would cost me & I agreed. Tony said that it will take a while as it takes longer to clone all the files/apps. He said that he will just call me when my laptop is ready. The following morning they called & said that my laptop was ready for pickup... & when I got my laptop...lo & behold... my laptop was like new... it ran so fast & I had all my files & app back... & it cost me less than $300 to get my 8 year old laptop to work like a brand new one....and that I have a much bigger memory in it... I took Compudoc less than 24 hours to get my laptop to work like a brand new one...I am really happy with the result... I would definitely recommend Compudoc to anyone who needs their computers fixed... they are great... Thank very much Compudoc! read more

Writing an update to my review from several months back. Casey, I hope you get a chance to read this and my older review, for some reason Yelp put it in the not recommended section. I called up Compudoc again after running into another problem on my computer over the weekend, some virus got into it when I was trying to find a media player for a movie I downloaded, soon I had all sorts of popups and my Norton wouldn't do a damn thing. The stupid program I pay nearly $50 a month for! Instead of having to lug my tower down to their store Casey was able to log into my computer remotely and remove this nasty bug, Casey referred to it as "adware" called Blinkiland. It must have been pretty nasty because I was allowed to walk away while he worked and nearly an hour later it was still not done. Casey assured me that its a normal for virus removals no matter how big or small to take some time, but in just another half an hour, Casey completely removed it so Chrome wasn't bombarding me with fake ads for services I didn't want. Casey was also observant enough to see that Norton was not helping the situation and asked me if he could remove it and put an antivirus program they regularly use (that is free) to help combat this issue in the future, I agreed because Norton has been nothing but problems from the start. This is my second time using Compudoc and they continue to impress on their speed and knowledge, did I also mention that Casey installed a media player called VLC that played my movie that I desperately wanted to watch? Recently had one of my children get a nasty virus on my PC. I'm not a techie per say but am fairly proficient with technology and computers in general. Have always been able to clean up problems like this without going to a pro for help. This time around used everything at my disposal to root out the problems and still came up short. Whatever was in there was really persistent. Found these guys on Yelp, great reviews and not far from where I live. Went in and discussed the problem, was quoted a flat rate which they surprisingly stuck to. Had the work done fairly early the next morning. The staff member I dealt with was a young man, who talked me into removing McAfee and replacing with an antivirus program they typically use at no extra cost. Given that McAfee just failed me I agreed. This part is my only complaint. When I picked up the PC he hooked it up to show me it was running and everything functioned. No worries. But I did notice there was no Antivirus icon on the desktop and asked if something had been installed. There was not. So had to wait a few more minutes while he installed a program. It was fixed and works splendidly. However, they removed my security system and forgot to install something else in it's place. Had I not asked before leaving, I may have gone home and gotten my unit infested with virus all over again. Which would have cost me more lost time since I use this PC to work from home. Small mistake which was caught before any damage could be done. Just be sure to ask questions before leaving the shop. read more

I searched For "Computer Repair" and found a strong Yelp rating for Compudoc. I called and asked questions about fixing my laptop and the problems I was having and asked for a guess as to what the problem was and how much a repair might be. It was explained to me that my problem may be from a few different possible causes and they needed to diagnose the problem for $55. I was unsure about this but Tony explained the diagnostic fee was only charged if I did not have any work preformed and the $55 goes away and then I will be given a repair cost to fix my specific problem. Fearing a bad motherboard or bad hard drive I was not thrilled about spending a ton of money for a machine that I can buy another new one for $400 or $500 bucks, so I decided that I would let them look at it in case it was a simple fix. I dropped off the machine at close of business at 5pm. Tony called me at noon the following day and explained my back up drive had become full and was slowing my system to a crawl. Tony sold me a brand new larger drive (1Terabyte Drive) and set that one as the backup drive and moved my information to the bigger drive. I was sure I had some kind of mechanical problem, and yet Tony in less than 24 hrs had my computer back to me working perfectly for half the cost of a new machine. I have been in to Compudoc three times and each was a pleasure. Tony was very nice and helpful and explained to me in plain english about the steps he needed to take in fixing my Laptop which had a "bad" Hard drive. He even set me up with an External hard drive which backs up my Data everyday so I now do not have to worry about losing my data. Also I found them on Google which was easy and then looked at yelp ratings before going in. The second time I came in I had a cracked screen on my I phone 6 (Grandchild accident! God Love em) and although Compudoc did not fix phone screens Chris gave me Go Gadgets number and I was able to get it fixed cheaply. I was Last in Compudoc on Monday and Tony fixed a problem with my Emails not being able to send attachments properly as recipients couldn't open my PDFs. Tony had it working perfectly in less than an hour as I waited and $55 fee which I was happy to pay and I on about my day. Compudoc is the best computer repair shop in Las Vegas!! P.S. I just found out they have another location on Eastern and Russell which is closer to me.....now I know and I will try out that location whenever my next computer problem arises read more

CATASTROPHIC PROBLEM PERFECTLY SOLVED On 4th February, three weeks into a twelve week visit to Las Vegas from England, my laptop died giving rise to a potentially catastrophic problem as I was now cut off from my internet banking. So I searched yellow pages and was drawn to CompuDoc as their ad stated, "If we can't fix it, it's free." I telephoned the next morning and was greeted by a very confident and professional technician, who reassured me that he could solve the problem. Within the hour my laptop was delivered to the business. Later that day a voice mail was left for me at my hotel. The problem was diagnosed, a repair was possible, and the price was quoted. I commissioned the repair and a fully functional laptop was returned to me on schedule and slightly below the quoted price. Based on this experience I have to describe this business as supremely professional and highly competent. A friend on Yelp suggested Compudoc computer repair service to me, so I took my MacBook Pro 15" with a broken screen in for a quote. It has a Retinal screen which is very expensive to replace at the Apple store, as I was quoted $900 for a screen replacement, which even though I know Macintosh products are costly to repair, I still thought the quote was high. I proceeded to Compudoc and got a quote in a few hours for Much, Much less than what the Apple Store wanted. I was told the screen had to be ordered as it was not in stock and it would be 4 or 5 business days to receive the replacement screen in the mail. I did not want to be without a computer for that long and I paid for Expedited Shipping which only had me out of my Laptop for a couple of days. The screen was professionally installed and my computer is running perfect. It is a pleasure to see a company that will do honest, quality work for a reasonable price. I have found a computer shop that wants more than to make a quick buck. The computer techs at Compudoc computer repair, explained everything to me, and quickly looking at my machine to see if the problem i was having could be quickly fixed. It wasn't and I had to leave my laptop with them. They called me several hours late and told me my hard drive was damaged, and gave a price to fix, which I declined because I felt it was time for a new machine. I bought a new machine and took it in to Compudoc and they set me up with an anti-virus program and moved all of my outlook emails and files and pictures from my old laptop and even gave me credit back toward the bill on my old machine as a trade in. I felt very comfortable with the knowledge of the people and also appreciated being treated like a person, not just a potential sucker being separated from my money. My Laptop had a busted screen. Compudoc did not have one in stock and had to order it. I had to wait 5 business days to get my machine which really put me out. I could have ordered the screen expedited shipping to get it here faster but I chose not to pay the extra for shipping, but I wished I had as I underestimated my ability to be without my laptop for an extended period. Tony called me when the part came in and I was able to pick it up the same day. The computer is back to new and Tony did a great job on the repair. I did not give them 5 stars because they did not have the screen for a HP instock. Hello! HP is probably the most common brand out there, but they did do a good job and I will return if I have need for Computer Repair. My 3 year son kicked my Mac Notebook and broke the screen, after I got over the fact there was nothing I could do about it I started to look for repair shops and went to the Apple Store. I could not believe the prices they were quoting me for my MacBook repair I found Compudoc on Yelp! so I brought my laptop in to Tony and he is very professional and Knowledgeable about Macintosh machines and gave me a quote for my screen replacement. The Apple store me almost $800 for a screen repair and I used Compudoc computer shop for a second opinion and I am glad I did. The price quote was drastically less than the Apple store quote. Tony ordered a screen and a screen connector ribbon which was torn from the kicking. I had to wait a few days but I am extremely happy with the professional quality of the repair in addition to the FAIR quote. I believe this is the best PC Repair company in Las Vegas. read more

I gotta give these guys mad props. I was in the vegas area on a project when my RAM went faulty and I hadn't backed everything up yet! I called Compudoc and got a few pointers over the phone and a quote to come in and get it repaired. Once i determined the issue on my own I went to Frys, grabbed the part and the tools and set off to go replace the RAM on my own... Until i realized i was only 10 minutes away from Compudoc and I really wanted it done right. No short circuiting the motherboard, I didn't want to stir the pot and cause further damage. I went in and Josh, the tech, literally stopped what he was doing and was fully invested in helping me figure out which stick was bad and tossing in the new stick. And to top it off when i tried to pay them they refused! I had to drop this review to at least pay some debt back. mad love to the whole Compudoc team! i'm back on my project!! read more

I found Compudoc on the Yelp website and brought in my brand new Laptop and my desktop in to have the information moved from the old, to the new machine. I also bought a new scanner/printer and had the technician in the shop set it up to work on both old and new machines. Tony was a joy to work with as I dropped off my things and went about some errands and I machines were set up with the printer and all of my information was relocated to the new machine. I wanted to update my review! My Laptop is still working perfectly, but I came in and put 50% down on my sons Christmas present, his brand new gaming machine tower, which will be built by Tony who ordered the parts same day. When all of the parts arrive, Tony will put the machine together and I can then come in a few weeks before Christmas and try it out to see if I want to make any changes to it or maybe add something and still have time to do so. I am very happy to be able to buy it this way, and to have a pro like Tony order the best parts for the best prices to give me a desktop that is far superior to off the shelves, and for a lesser price than they charge at Fry's for gaming machines. These people are truly the best in Las Vegas. I called earlier in the day to talk to somebody about what I should do if my computer wasn't able to turn on anymore. I was recommended to bring it in and they'd most likely be able to diagnosis it while I waited. I took it in a few hours later and was greeted immediately by a young gentlemen, who proceeded to look at my computer for just a few seconds and instantly knew the reason why it wouldn't power on! To prove his theory that the power supply had died, he tested it and showed me where the faults had lied in it and was able to replace it at a fair and reasonable price (labor included.) I had the greatest experience at this business today! Casey is the BOMB! I brought in my HP G60 laptop with Windows Vista (no they didn't laugh) due to a problem with my user profile and being unable to logon at all. I stayed while he did the troubleshooting and he discovered very quickly that it was a virus. I stayed while he fixed it and I learned so much from him. He also installed free anti-virus software because the program I had which I thought was reputable turned out to be less than desirable. I would highly recommend this business for anything computer related. Hardly ever leave reviews on Yelp, but felt I had to for Compudoc. Had an emergency when my work computer went down a couple years ago, and these guys did me a favor and did a rush job for me and I only lost a couple days of work. They were extremely helpful back then and patiently answered questions for me over the phone after I got it back when I was unfamiliar with the new motherboard and bios. This time they confirmed for me that the hard drive in my laptop had failed after only a couple years, and they were able to replace it for me in practically no time. Very honest with reasonable prices for repairs. Worth going out of your way to find. Would highly recommend to anyone. read more

I have found the place to go for computer repairs. I am one of those people that have very little knowledge of computers and how they work. Casey and Tony made me feel at ease the moment I walked into their shop. My hard drive had a virus that took them over a week to get my photos and files from. They built me a new PC with a solid state hard drive that is working great. They helped me transfer those files and photos to the new PC and my wife and I are very thankful to them for getting everything back to us. What can I say when the charger port for my laptop broke I thought I would have to buy a brand knew one. Fortunately Compudoc was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to check it out. Once I arrived they took one look at my laptop and gave me a reasonable price to have it replaced. The service there was great with the employees having a great deal of knowledge in the field and they gave me useful information for my next laptop purchase. They ordered the part and had it replaced the same day it arrived. The whole process took no longer than a week and my laptop is as good as new. I was in need of PC Repair so I looked up a good Computer Shop on Yelp. I have a MacBook and I was trying to upgrade the operating system to a newer one and it failed and then my apple wouldnt boot anymore. I tried to do it my self and follow step online but it did not work for me so I took it to the professionals. They looked at it and I needed a memory upgrade, so I let them put that in and they put the El Capitan version in for me and I am all set. Yelp has a set character count so here is a shortened version of my review: I brought my PC in with a clear issue: apps crashing, and a Windows reinstall that kept failing partway through. Before bringing it in, I spent 8 hours troubleshooting on my own and narrowed it down to two likely causes -- a corrupted Windows install or a bad CPU. I explained all of this on the phone and again in person when I dropped it off, and was told I'd get a diagnosis the same day. That didn't happen. I had to call an hour before closing just to get an update, and was told to wait until the next day. When they finally called, they flip-flopped on the diagnosis multiple times within a few hours -- first confirming a corrupted Windows install, then claiming it was fixed, then reversing again to say it was still corrupted. They quoted me $90 for a data transfer and $110 for a Windows reinstall. Since I had my own install media, I said I only needed the transfer -- and the price for that alone jumped to $180, with the excuse that it was only "discounted" when bundled with their install. I paid it anyway to protect my files. When I picked up the PC, they assured me -- twice, after I directly asked -- that reinstalling Windows myself at home would work fine. It didn't. I hit the exact same crash I'd described to them from day one. When I called back, they admitted they'd never actually tested the CPU, despite me flagging it as a likely cause from the start. When I asked why I'd paid $180 for a data transfer I didn't need, they gave excuses and contradicted themselves -- first offering free CPU installation (which takes minutes and isn't a real concession), then claiming the transfer would've been necessary regardless, which wasn't true since I could have accessed my files for free from the other drive. When I brought the PC back in, I watched the tech Google my exact problem before telling me they'd "seen this before." The CPU warranty process was its own headache: days of unanswered messages, a lie that it had already been shipped when it hadn't, and them dodging my calls entirely. I called twice in ten minutes and got voicemail both times; a friend called the same number seconds later and got through immediately. The one good part of this experience was an employee named Charlie, who was consistently kind and professional, even helping carry my PC from the car. Everyone else I dealt with was dismissive and dishonest. End result: I paid $180 for work I didn't need, got no refund or compensation for their misdiagnosis, wasted well over a week, and felt completely scammed. I won't be returning.
