I'm odd man out when it comes to the Boba trend, I'm just not a fan. But while waiting for our Mac n cheese, I was reading their menu posted on their window and thought the Liquid Gold sounded good so I decided to give it another shot. The tea itself was very refreshing but once again, the boba was a turn off. I'm obviously not knocking off a star cause I don't like boba, the loss of the star comes from their macarons. I love teaspoon! I am no boba connoisseur by any means, but teaspoon is my favorite that I've tried in the city. The boba is perfectly chewy and soft and I love all the flavors of drinks they have. I went late last night and couldn't get a caffeinated drink so I opted for the "mango Funtime" with boba and it was so good! A bit on the sweeter side but not too overpowering. Came in on a Wednesday afternoon around 5pm. I got the house milk tea with boba and 25% sweet. The milk tea was okay. The tea could have been a bit stronger. The boba was on the chewier side. Even at 25% sweet, it was still too sweet. There were only a few people inside, and I got the drink relatively quickly. Solid option for boba in the area because there's not many other places nearby unless you go to Japantown or Chinatown! They have outdoor seating which is very nice in COVID times. I like how they have seasonal drinks and they do have a lot of drinks they offer. There's contactless ordering and payment, service is friendly. My son loves their mango drink here. I enjoyed their Dalgona coffee. And holiday drinks. Definitely worth trying , a bit on the pricier side though. I love their bamboo jar too, but it cracks easily. I used it once and the mouth part broke on me, I got another one and the bottom of the glass bottle cracked after one use too. Mind you, i just brought it home, washed it and left it in it my cabinet. I don't know what could have happened. It helps that it's in an area of town that doesn't have many options (it's one of the only boba spots near the Marina / Cow Hollow / Russian Hill area). The drinks here are all super tasty. I usually go to the Teaspoon location in San Mateo but was in the area for the SF location so decided to check it out. The SF location is quite small (and funnily enough, it is next to Mac'd which is another popular foodie spot) and parking can be tricky like always. There are quite a few tables inside but it's not the best location if you actually want to complete homework or study. They were handing out samples of some of the drinks and seemed to have a special on passionfruit items; I do like the fact that they change up their menus every so often. Overall, it was quite crowded but they make their drinks quickly so I didn't mind the wait. Came here with some others so got to try a bit of everyone's drink! All the drinks we got were half sweet. 1. Ladybug 4/5 I like to try out new items every time I go somewhere so this time I opted for this drink that's part of their Passionfruit series. If you taste it by itself, it's nice and refreshing due to the kumquat and passionfruit flavors with jade tea. After trying some of the other two drinks and then going back to this one, it was insanely sour. I guess that just goes to show how much sugar there is in the other ones?! I did not like the passionfruit seeds that they added into the drink since they were very hard/crunchy and tasted kind of gritty. They were also kind of bitter and sour at the same time. 2. Virgin Mojito 5/5 This is always my favorite drink and I can't help comparing all the subsequent drinks I get to this one. I tend to like subtle flavors and this one is definitely subtle with jasmine green tea. I would say this is a super refreshing drink (due to the mint and lime flavors) if you're not looking for something too sweet or heavy. They have options to add additional fruit flavorings in but I always opt for the original. 3. Liquid Gold 4.5/5 This drink tastes like milk tea but definitely better than what you'd typically get at other boba chains. I recommend getting boba with it if you get this drink since it pairs perfectly with the tea. The boba is quite soft/chewy and is honey flavored. The drink is super creamy since the ingredients show that this is a honey oolong tea topped with cream. The drink didn't turn out as pretty as the picture they show on the menu but I think it's because they shake/stir it before handing it to you. Got this one half sweet but it still tasted insanely sweet especially after trying the other two drinks we got. Overall, I still think their drinks are quite pricey...it can be about five bucks for a drink which I think is kind of ridiculous but I guess that's just standard price for drinks now. After trial & error, I realized that I prefer my milk teas with more of a creamier flavor so I switched to a fruit tea instead. Their lychee tea is my favorite so far! I was about to order macarons until I saw they were $8- dang. The Taro lover came with fresh Taro and the strawberry purée at the bottom of the Matcha drink was fresh - not syrup! The boba was warm and chewy (yessss) I'm very peculiar with places that use strawberry syrup instead of fresh fruit, and I wasn't disappointed. You can't go wrong with any Teaspoon location. It doesn't matter which city it is in, I can get the same flavored milk tea (my usual: rose petal oolong) and honey boba and have it taste exactly how I like it! However, boba consistency may vary, but that doesn't bug me. I came here after spending the day in the city for my birthday. While ordering, I wanted to use my birthday coupon (BOGO free drink). For some reason, this location no longer uses the same rewards system as others do. Therefore, even though I told the cashier it was my birthday today, I was disappointed that they didn't value the coupon. Keep in mind that this location is VERY small and when there are people in line to order, there is no way to social distance when your drink is ready for you. Why oh why is there not a Teaspoon closer to me? Patiently waiting for the Irvine location to open up (seriously, open up already). I was up in the Bay area recently and finally had my chance to try this place. The hotel I was at was only a mile away from this SF location (fate wanted me to go here). I would definitely recommend the Dirty Ube (basically coffee, milk and ube). Ok, so a few places make versions of this but Teaspoon's is the best in my opinion. The ube is infused with coconut, mixed with coffee and fresh milk (I opted to sub in oat milk). I know there's one in Del Amo too but I rarely am out in South Bay (LA) and don't want to drive an hour just for boba. I may just have to now to get my Dirty Ube fix! read more
