This is my revise review on P&R Lathing…read more To save time I won't go into all the details, but I hired P&R Lathing to remove and replace the weep screed and replace the black waterproofing paper at my home. When the work was finished, I believed everything had been done correctly and I initially left a positive review. I cannot remove the review so I am updating it. Later, I hired a mold remediation company to address a separate issue. During their work they removed a full wall of drywall. When they finished their process, the owner showed me that daylight was visible through multiple gaps at the bottom of the wall by the weep screed. If I didn't have the drywall removed I would have never known that the work was done improperly and would have ended up getting mold again. He explained that if the problem is not corrected, Moisture and pests can enter and mold will return. It appears that when P&R Lathing installed the weep screed, there are many gaps where you could see daylight from the outside. Because of this, insects came inside the house and had moisture intrusion entered the wall cavity, and during rains my mudsill, 2x4's and the interior of the black paper was wet. I had to run air blowers and a dehumidifier to dry the area to prevent mold from returning. I contacted Richard Warren, the owner of P&R Lathing, and asked him to resolve the problem. He said just put some caulking on the inside and outside. That is a band aid I paid almost $5,000 hired a licensed contractor because I wanted it to be done the right way! You are not supposed to put caulking on the outside or else you will get mold. I even offered to pay for the removal and replacement of the weep screed as long as it was corrected properly, without any additional profit to him since the original work had already been paid for. He had a worker paint on the foundation a cement sealer that didn't work. As a result, I filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and am currently waiting for them to resolve the issue. In my opinion, I would recommend hiring a different contractor. While the workers were doing the work, Richard never came by to check on the quality of the work. He only came at the beginning to show the crew where to do the work and returned again when the job was finished to collect the payment.

Painters/Stainers are NOT good ( can't mach your color even after 2 tries)( my house painter did it in 30 min ) Actual list: Check and double check contract ( specially mediation part) contract is designed to be in company's favor. Keep ALL records of times they show up,leave also phone calls and person u spoke with (all of them have short memory) and u will need this in court. Robert and Paco both have now done two major repairs on our roof due to a poor solar panel install…read moreback in 2023 - I used them once in 2024 during major rains when we had water coming into our attic crawlspace and dripping from a second story recessed light above an open stairwell. They did immediately remediation of the leak by opening the ceiling, covering the leak and quickly repairing the roof while the interior was dried out. The had to reach a second story light in a cramped stairwell and did fantastic work and worked with the insurance company. Because our solar company was out of business, they were able to handle the panel electrical disconnection, dismounting, and reconnecting and remounting to the roof. The second time in 2026 we had a slow leak that had since dried out from previous winter rains, this time in another area of our roof with solar panels, and this time it was not an immediate emergency. However, this still required a a good amount of roof work to disconnect and move panels with a smaller interior job. I have been very happy with their communication, reasonable prices and the ability to do the entire interior drywall, drying and painting, and exterior roof work with solar all through one company. They gave an honest and and affordable estimate. They brought a team that removed the bottom shelf of the cabinet and humidifiers that were small and silent. Kala also has contractors that crafted a beautiful plywood shelf to replace the water damaged piece of pressboard, and got it to match and fit flawlessly. The cabinet looks better than it did before the leak and we are so impressed with the work! For comparison, we also called ServePro, who told us that the floors were wet (which they weren't) and that the island cabinet and counter tops needed to be replaced (which was not true) and they recommended a whole kitchen remodel. This tells me that some other water restoration companies lie to customers and insurance companies; their bottom line is making money from big jobs. I called my Uncle who is a water and fire restoration specialist and he verified that Kala made the correct assessment of the actual damage, which was very minor because we caught it early. It's hard to find people you can trust, but Kala you can rely on!

I also confirmed that the cleaner would stay until the job was done. None of these promises were kept. I truly wanted to support this business, but the lack of preparation, surprise charges, and the way my friend was treated left a very bad impression. I hope the company is willing to make this right for both me and my friend, as this experience was not what was promised.
