Wow! A maze of stereo equipment and broadband coverage gaps were solved in just a few hours…read more My late husband had a vintage collection of subwoofers, speakers, receivers, and more and Christian figured out what worked, recommended what could or could not be repaired, and I am a happy camper. I even have WiFi in a previously patchy end of the house. HIGHLY recommend!

THE EXPERT for Seamless TV, Audio, Internet Systems…read more We wanted help choosing and installing a new TV and hiding the messy tangle of wires at the junction of our TV, audio, and internet components. What we got from Justin was much more! He started with a free in-home consultation. Justin recommended a size and type of TV that was right for our space and gave us the option of purchasing it ourselves or having him supply it with a price-matching guarantee. He also found some wiring issues and weak links in our TV and audio systems that were greatly degrading image and sound quality and took the time to explain the issues to our satisfaction. He offered a reasonable and detailed estimate to install the TV and address the connection issues and scheduled a date to do the work soon after. Justin and his capable assistant arrived on time and got to work. They soon discovered that our ethernet connections had been improperly installed so that we were not getting the promised high-speed signal for our TVs or home computers. They traced the wiring from the pole to the house and found and fixed the issue at no extra cost. Our previously slow computers are now operating at lighting speed. Justin also hard-wired a second TV that previously had relied on a WIFI signal. When a second issue arose with the AT&T modem, Justin navigated AT&T customer service and got an AT&T technician to come out and replace the modem that day! Justin stuck around to make sure the system was operating properly once the new modem was installed. Again, no extra charge for this. We couldn't be happier with the TV (amazing picture and sound, the old messy wires are gone, and the few remaining wires are completely out of sight.) We hadn't realized there was a problem with our audio system, but the changes Justin made using our same old speakers upped our sound quality dramatically. We are listening to a lot more music now. Added bonus, he set the whole system up to be controlled by an easy-to-use app that allows us to listen to different music in different parts of the house. I should add, Justin is a really nice guy. I called him a few days after he did the work with a dumb question about our internet connection. He listened carefully and patiently explained all that I wanted to know. A++

We're continuing to work with Chris for future efforts as we've moved into a home and he's helping us fix some problems and make changes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I'll give the current franchise holder the benefit of the doubt with a so-so rating. Nonetheless,…read morethe work done by his predecessor was less than professional. We had a 22kw Generac generator installed by Mr. Sparky. We chose them because they could do a turnkey job...purchase the generator, arrange the permitting, do the electrical connections and extend the gas line. I'll explain what we had to do. Find a generator, prepare a pad for installation, draw an engineering drawing for the permit, do the rigging to lower the 500 lb generator into place, and locate the underground utilities after Mr. Sparky sent PG&E to the wrong location twice (despite having already produced an engineering/ situs drawing showing the correct location). Now to the crux of our complaint. We were installing solar and the contractor discovered damage to the buss bars in our main circuit panel. Mr. Sparky was the last to enter the panel while connecting the electric and transfer switch. They apparently caused a short circuit and scorched the panel and the box and melted some of the buss bars. We went back to Mr. Sparky requesting reimbursement for our expenses repairing the bussing. Sparky corporate has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. The local franchisee was sympathetic but passed the buck to the corporate HQ. They have been wholly unresponsive despite multiple emails and calls. So, you've got to ask yourself what your experience is likely to be. Do you feel lucky? Don't count on that guarantee for help.

Our home has an older AV system installed years ago by another contractor. Over time, the system became outdated, complicated, and the contractor became harder to reach and increasingly expensive. My wife and I separated several years ago, but she still lives in the home and has always struggled with the universal remote and the setup's complexity. Recently, she called me in distress because she couldn't turn on the television in the living room. Under normal circumstances, that would be a small inconvenience. But my wife is currently battling stage-four ovarian cancer and only has a few months left. All she wanted was the simple comfort of sitting on the couch and watching TV. I called Jake and explained the situation. Without hesitation, he said he would come take a look. The next day, he and one of his technicians, Wilson, showed up and spent over an hour patiently troubleshooting the system until they got everything working again. When the work was finished, I asked what I owed him. Jake said there would be no charge given my wife's condition. I was honestly taken back. In a world where it often feels like everything is transactional, Jake chose compassion instead. This wasn't just good service, it was humanity, and I'll never forget that kindness. If you're looking for someone who truly cares about his clients and takes pride in his work, Barker Tech is the real deal.

I previously used a big Bay Area AV/home automation company. I spent over six figures on the initial install when I was rebuilding my house, and after that, every "fix" cost thousands. They had me on a Savant system where even a simple upgrade--like adding a new Apple TV 4K--was quoted at $4,000 because I needed new video cards. I was tired of the "gatekeeping" and not being able to make simple changes myself. I hired Jake to fix the mess, and Barker Tech has been incredible. He didn't just patch things up. he completely updated my network and AV, removed the bloated Savant system, and simplified my entire home automation setup. The result? A system that is high-end, significantly more dependable and simple, I'm able to DIY some things and I don't need to worry about explaining to my wife why a simple change to the system costs more than our first car we bought. The responsiveness is what really sets them apart. I recently had a troubleshooting issue: Jake responded within 5 minutes and had it totally resolved in 15 minutes. Barker Tech feels "too good to be true" because the knowledge and attention to detail are world-class, but the prices are actually reasonable. If you're tired of being overcharged by the big firms, call Jake. (Just don't take up all his time!)
