That is ridiculous. It costs them cents to remake the drink, but they won't do it. Garbage. I won't be going back there. The drink was refreshing, but the food was definitely the star. $10 a sandwich is steeper than most places in San Jose, but if you're in Gilroy and don't want to make the drive, these are worth it. I have been to tea leaf a couple of times and so far it has been good. It is now under new management, and the new owner is so sweet. She offers me samples and answers questions directly. The decor is so cute and shabby chic. Unfortunately, there isn't alot of customers but I think its due to lack of advertising. They would have been packed with people of people knew they were there. I recommend coming here if you want a sweet treat and good company. The only thing I do miss is when they could add less sugar to your drinks which they don't do anymore. The thai milk tea was still good though, and the shrimp spring rolls are so good!! My husband LOVES their Magonadas. TeaLeaf is a good spot for boba. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 star is they aren't the quickest when it comes to getting your items. Yes they are typically busy but I've been to other spots where they are much more efficiently. The key which I've learned is to either order online or call ahead 20-30 minutes to feel like it's enough time where you can just go inside and out. The toppings added on to the fries are so good, so I definitely recommend trying them out. Sweet. The drinks took about 20 mins to be made which is reasonable because it's their soft opening. In the oolong watermelon and matcha they forgot the toppings, but no big deal. I simply just asked them and they remade the drink. Overall love the ambiance. Will have to come back to try the other drinks and banh mi sandwiches. The space is clean and the decor was really cute. I don't like businesses that don't follow their own business hours. Here on Yelp it says open until 8pm. When you go to the establishment they say only open until 7pm. But if you arrive before 7 and try to order anything they tell you they closed the kitchen down a long time ago. What's the point? Either you are open or you aren't...... adjust your business hours appropriately so customers don't waste their time trying to go there and DONT close down and clean up before your closing time. The time you close should be the last moment a customer can order, it shouldn't be the time you expect your staff to have the place broken down and ready to turn off the lights. We have tried SO many times to go here lately and we get turned away well before 7pm (even though they should technically be open until 8pm according to Yelp). It's such poor business practice. We used to really like coming here in the past but probably won't waste our time anymore. Edit to add: showed up tonight a 6:25pm. Signage turned off except for the "open" sign. Most of the seating area is broken down, chairs on top of tables and an employee is mopping up for the night. Thought we would be turned away as usual but it looks like the owner is sitting there in there so my husband was allowed in. He noticed that the portion size of food is significantly more when the owner is present which was interesting.... My husband ordered the spring rolls and easily received double the amount of food he usually gets(when he's allowed to order). This place confuses me so much. The food is good but the way it is being run doesn't make sense at all.
