An amazing little cafe and a great study spot! So happy to have discovered this place with my boyfriend, it's one of our favorite places in Pasadena to come to when we need a spot we can spend the evening studying and getting work done at! It's the perfect place for it. It's well lit, has nice music playing in the background that isn't too loud, and has comfy booths and colorful chairs for seating. They also provide free WiFi! The food here is also delicious, I love getting their popcorn chicken along with a strawberry or mango smoothie, which are very silky and smooth in texture. Delicious! The spicy versions of the chicken here are also ACTUALLY spicy, as well! I really love this place! Nothing but pluses from me! I stopped by here yesterday. It's cute inside. They have a kiosk if you're paying with a card or you can go to the register. I didn't get any food but I definitely want to come back to try all the vegetarian options they have. I did get a honey lavender milk tea with mini boba. I think I just found my new favorite milk tea! It wasn't too sweet, the lavender was just right and not overpowering, and the mini boba was perfect! They had so many other toppings and options too. This might be a skewed review but based on solely on the drink, it was pretty good. My friend bought me a grapefruit honey green tea drink with boba and it was good! I don't want to say this is the best boba ever because it isn't. You come to Tea Spots because it is close to PCC and you don't want to drive anywhere else. There is a Au79 which I personally prefer BUT being that Tea Spots have actual food, you're better off coming here if you're hungry. Tea Spots is a tea place close to Pasadena City College. They sell boba, smoothies, shaved ice and food. Most people just come to hang out as it closes at midnight, which is late for Pasadena standard. They do have a small shared parking lot, however, it is hard to come by and the space is extremely tight. Overall, it is not my first pick to come for a drink or late snack. I have been here for drinks and shaved ice. The staff are just alright. Place is clean. I wish I have more to recommend, but I don't. It is not my jam, but maybe it will be for you read more

I do not recommend. I was delighted to find a 4-star place that sold shaved snow (they call it ice here), but this place did not deliver! I ordered the milk snow with condensed milk, strawberries, and rainbow mochi. The top of the snow that was drenched in condensed milk was fine. Tasted like regular snow. The bottom, however, was very chewy/gummy. If you've ever had Turkish ice cream (made with mastic gum which gives it the chewy/sticky texture), then you know what I'm talking about. Snow should not by any means taste like that. It should be creamy and it should melt in your mouth. This was a most unpleasant experience in snow. Even after the terrible snow, I still wanted to give this place another shot and ordered a fresh honeydew juice. The juice was straight up sugar! I could actually feel the cavities forming and my teeth rotting with every sip. And this is coming from someone with a major sweet tooth. I'm sorry, but I will not be returning. read more

Sometimes a girl just needs a gallon size mango black tea and some fried tofu. And if you're in need of the same, take yourself to Tea Spots! They always make the best mango black tea. Perfectly sweet, perfectly EVERYTHING! I wish I could fry my tofu like they do. Super crispy on the outside, yummy and tender on the inside...I just don't have that kind of talent. It can get a little busy sometimes, but they're always super apologetic about the wait and do their best to get your order out to you. My only complaint, which isn't their fault, PARKING SUCKS!!! There are some special Boba places that are worth the extra miles, this is not one of them. It's standard, not bad, not great, just decent. But no place, even the great ones, are worth bad attitudes or bad service. Came here to an empty store (no wait, yay!) ordered 1 drink, waited twenty minutes plus, store got busy after I ordered, every single order got served before mine. I counted about 7 groups and individuals, and at least a dozen drinks, all made and handed out while I still waited. Store was empty again and I saw them start on my daughters drink. No explanation, no apology, just a cold call out of my daughters name. I was trying to be patient but had to ask why. They just said "oh yeah, sorry". I said "sure you are". Immediately felt bad for my snarky privileged response but the apology was as half a**ed as the service. I felt even worse knowing that my kids will beg me to keep going to this place. Not because it's great but because it's fine and not many options this close us. Now I have to face the surly workers with fear they will do something bad to my kids boba or just make us wait even longer. Clearly others were given quick efficient service but I always like to know when some are not. Just because I get decent service I never think it's fair if others do not. I know there are much worse problems in the world but I hate when folks aren't held accountable. They should have apologized, explained, and offered a free drink on our next visit. The teas had a good flavor but was a bit too sweet for our preference and the four of us agreed on that, the boba was fresh. I will give them a try for food and will also give them another try for tea if they can adjust the sweetener. **The only reason why I gave a 4 star was because when you pay credit or debit and you think you're done the cashier prompts you to another device (asked me to answer the question on the other device) thats just under their POS system to add a tip or no tip, you must press a button before the transaction can be complete. The guy with weird haircut is very rude, he treats you like you are stupid. The workers are so rude when you walk in 40 minutes before closing, I understand the inconvenience but it is still their job they do not get to do that. The boba competition is tough, but this place has a good variety and choices to make it a boba stop on its own. The issue is the small parking lot, but at least there is high turnover if you are patient. We also got their snow ice, which had generous portions! Tried the Green snow ice with condensed milk and red bean, which was very good. The meal/snack part was just okay, but if you wanted to eat something a little more than just desserts, the food does the trick. We got several small plates (Mozzarella sticks, Zucchini fries, Squid balls, and Seasoned fries) which were all just okay. I've been coming here forever. The owner is super nice, his staff are usually locals and a lot of kids who are going to PCC, so please tip them well and be nice to them, they work hard to make my orders good, and the very VERY rare times I've ever had an order wrong, they do everything they can to fix it. Best stuff to get: Chamango smoothie, Milk Tea (they let you combine syrups so you can't go wrong, and the boba is always very good and fresh), Fish Fillet Dish, Calmari, Taiwanese Sausage, Shaved Snow (uhhh maybe not during COVID, but this was my favorite thing to get), Oolong Tea with bits of fresh strawberry (my favorite, I get this with grass jelly). Speaking of grass jelly: They used to have it years ago, and then for some reason stopped having them... And every time I went for months and months I kept asking for it, and it finally came back ToT and the owner was like, YOU'RE THE ONE ASKING FOR JELLY?? once when he saw my order, ahaha, and he was happy to bring it back knowing people were making that request. Cute little place off of Hill on Colorado. Got the passion fruit oolong tea with boba. It was ok, a little bitter, but decent. Not the best drink I've ever had, but not terrible. I'd order something else next time. Also got the popcorn chicken which was good but very dry, and they don't give you a sauce to go with it, which I've never seen before. My coworkers and I usually order from here when we feel like having a fun drink. The last few times we have ordered through door dash, our orders have come without straws for our drinks. Usually, I would just find another straw and it wouldn't be a big deal, but we don't usually stock up on straws big enough for tapioca balls in our office...... Anyways, the first time this happened we called and were basically told they were sorry and we could go pick up a couple straws. The 2nd time this happened we were told we needed to request straws with another pity sorry to follow. Just got home from one of the worst tea places I've tried in a while. For starters, it's syrups and powders for flavoring. That knocks you down a star already. Second, the girl got my order wrong and put boba in my drink (I don't like boba) because my girlfriend and I ordered almost the same drink, except hers had boba when mine didn't. So she gave us both boba and charged me for it. I didn't say anything because I wasn't about to argue over $0.55, even though I should have said something because- to add insult injury- their boba sucked a**. Some of it was overcooked and mushy, other pieces were hard. WTF. The Shrimp Wonton Soup was so salty. Good Lord. I think I felt my blood pressure going up as I ate it. My girlfriend was not impressed with her appetizers (Zucchini Fries and Fried Tofu) as she said the fries were too hard. To top it off, it was FREEZING in there. Yo hum hum. I want some cotton ice on my tongue. This place has it all. From the assortment of teas and shakes, to food and wifi, and cotton ice. So even though we had drove by this place several times, we never thought to stop in. But one night while visiting Pasadena, we searched yelp for our favorite, Taiwanese shaved ice and this place came up. I thought my man was playing some kind of trickery on me, because he had mentioned he wanted to try the place out before we left. But along I went. And so happy I did. They call their ice dessert, cotton ice. And they did not go wrong with that name. Because it is smooth, creamy and melts on your tongue like butter. They only offer one size but who cares, it is so good. The variety of toppings is endless. All flavors of the rainbow when it comes to mochi and popping pearls. All kinds of jellies. We ordered our cotton ice to go and it was tucked away nicely in a bag with a top on it. We had to walk back to our hotel the first time and it was just as nice as when we left with it. Not melted or anything. Living in Las Vegas, I am not privy to such novelties as Taiwanese shaved ice. We are just now trying to catch up with LA area and have a couple of places to visit. And I could only hope and pray that we get something this good in our area. I mean, we couldn't stop talking about it. It was such a great experience for us. If you can walk instead of driving here, it will be best for you and the environment, as I often see cars double parked in the packed parking lot here. Tea Spot is always packed with people, perfect for those that like a crowd or just good boba drinks. Their daily specials seems to be a good deal. Food here is decent, but their Fried Squid appetizer is a train wreck, which I highly recommend that you avoid (unless you have a weird taste for overcooked and chewy cephalopods of the order Teuthida). Oddly, their fried chicken pieces (Chinese version of popcorn chicken?) was good and I had no problem making those salty boneless morsels of friend chicken disappeared. But the selections of beverages is definitely their bread and butter that keeps customers coming back for more, even though there are a lot of competitions all within a short walking distance away up and down the street. Went on a Saturday the 27th at 9:20pm. My family was ordering boba and a couple snacks. The girl helping at the front wearing a mask with a pink clip in her hair, dyed blonde hair, and glasses was very rude. I work in the food industry myself and it's not hard to have good customer service. She kept rolling her eyes and kept getting annoyed when my mom wanted to check her rewards. The quality isn't as great as other high end tea shops, I'd compare it to Lollicup. The employees behind the cashier were friendly and answered a few of my questions. Nothing about their drink stood out to me. They offer a special, entree item for $6.25 with free regular size drink. That's a deal! Again, great for students. The entree item is restricted to a certain entree that's served for the day. I've been here before for their cotton shaved ice and I remember it was pretty good. However, in my opinion, it's still not as great as Class 302! But a good option if you don't want to drive down to Cerritos or Rowland Heights. Overall, it's a great place for PCC students who need a place to study or chill in between classes. Tea Sports is located in the same plaza as Carl's Jr and right next door to Yoshinoya. This plaza is right across the street from Pasadena City College and as other fellow Yelp members had mentioned, the parking is not ideal. The lot itself only has so many parking spots and there is not street parking available in this particular area. I do want to mention that the parking spots have a 30 minute time limit, but it did not seem that the time was enforced, as my husband and I came by here today and was here for about an hour. Also it seems to be common for students to come and study here (unlikely that a student can get much studying and homework done in 30 minutes). I thought this drink tasted good. The lavender flavors were pronounced but not overbearing. The boba was soft and chewy, perfectly made. The sweetness level was perfect for me. He thought his drink was still on the sweet side, even at this sweetness level. --------------------- (Total= $8.72 after tax) Wait time for our drinks was not long at all and was surprised that an employee brought our drinks to the table. After I had ordered my drink, I went to the restroom. I was disappointed that there was very little soap left. I had informed an employee right away and the employee said she will take care of it. However, right before we were going to leave, I decided to use the restroom one more time. Sure enough, there was no soap. So I walked over to the counter and told the employee that there is no soap in the unisex restroom (really could use some cleaning) and that I would just love to wash my hands. She squired a little bit of dishwashing soap into my hand and told me that she is looking for a soap refill for the restroom. I went back to the restroom to wash my hands. I am pretty disappointed that refilling the soap in the restroom is not a priority for this tea house and it makes me wonder if unwashed/ uncleaned hands made my beverage. Service was friendly for the most part. But I think drinks are a bit pricey. But being that I was able to redeem my Yelp check in for free boba to be added to my drink (you can choose between boba or jelly), the price is fair. But if I didn't get my boba, I would probably be even more disappointed. I don't see myself coming back here because of the lack of soap in the restroom, after telling an employee (doubt the other employee I told about the lack of soap had refilled it) and the high prices. Oh and also the parking just sucks here. Real random, but there is a bitcoin ATM here (by the restroom) for some reason. It's kind of crazy how much 1 cost now. Came here for a quick dessert this place is located off Colorado in Pasadena the plaza that this is in is small and shares it with the other businesses so parking can be tough. The place is not too big but has a pretty good amount of seats. This place can get packed as well especially with students on their laptops and or studying. So first off I want to say that the employees here do not wear hair masks, when I called to complain that there was hair in my drink and to see if the employees were more cautious and wearing a hair net the girl over the phone informed me that they do not but they try to their best to keep the hair away???? She was kind enough to give a free drink next time I went in, but after being so disgusted with the response how could I even trust that it won't happen again? Had a 'mango icy' which is pretty much your typical mango slush with boba order. It was pretty good. Mango slushes are definitely one of my favorite go-to drinks at boba/tea places. This location across from PCC near the intersection of Colorado & Hill was quite busy on a Monday night. Lots of students and regulars on their laptops, it seemed. Service was friendly so I contributed a dollar and some change to the tip jar. Got a thank you from the girl at the counter... That's always good. The mango icy was good and I would probably order it again. Seems like a good place. Will definitely try it again and maybe get some small bite appetizers to go with our boba drinks.
