I went here on a whim simply because we had planned to see a movie near this restaurant. It was Christmas Day and we only had to wait 15 minutes for a party of two. We tried the Szechuan dumplings in chili oil, cream cheese wontons, and the kung pao chicken. There was a lot on the menu that caught my eye, especially the orange beef - but unfortunately, they do not sell that dish anymore. The dumplings were mostly warm, but some were cold. The flavor was impeccable, so I didn't mind the mixed temperature. That's something that could be improved. I haven't ever ordered kung pao chicken, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but it was amazing. Seasoned well and served with a little heat. The amount of chicken you get is impressive. It is served with a side of rice. The wontons were some of the hottest/freshest wontons I've ever eaten. Steam was coming out of my mouth! It definitely was a fresh order due to them originally forgetting that part of our order. I was pleasantly surprised by this experience, although the dumplings were cold, and an order of wontons was served late, everything was unique and cooked well. The flavors are amazing. I can only review from a takeout perspective - but overall it's "fine" but not a place I would seek out again. Food wasn't hot but just a little warm when we picked it up. We got the spicy dumplings, sesame chicken, garlic green beans, and pork egg rolls. Dumplings had zero spice flavor from the sauce - it was alarms or as if they were sitting in soy sauce and a bit of colored oil. The skin was a little thick and partially dried out for our liking, wouldn't get again. Sesame chicken was fine - not remarkable, not bad. Egg rolls similarly were lacking flavor and were so small compared to other locations - would skip next time. Green beans were our favorite part but felt a bit overpriced. So good!!! Can't believe I haven't been here, but if you're looking for a different place to hang out for some good food, here you go!! We tried the double sided noodles with chicken and kung pao beef, both excellent choices in my opinion! The beef was expertly seasoned and cooked with fresh not frozen pea pods and onions. The double sided noodles were not expected as they seemed dry but then once marinated in the sauce from the chicken it was fabulous! We also had to obviously have egg rolls and some potstickers. My friend had to have her prerequisite hot and sour soup that I didn't take a picture of, but they were happy with it. I am a customer in this restaurant for over 10 years. I learned to overlook the outdated furniture and the language barrier with the staff. The food is good, services is fast and the prices are reasonable. Last Thursday I walked in and after we sat down, a waiter came to us and hand us over the menus. Since we're familiar with the food, we were ready to order. He brought out our food--orange chicken, which I've had many times before. From the first bite, I could tell it wasn't fresh; it was hard as a rock and dry. I called the waiter, Jerry, over and told him the dish wasn't good. He just looked at me without saying anything. I repeated myself and explained that I know what fresh orange chicken should taste like, but he still didn't respond. I asked him to take the plate back, and he continued standing there in silence. Eventually, he took the plate without a word. I believe he said something to himself in his language, I can imagine what was it. I got up and went to pay for the potstickers and run into Jerry again, I told him that he was rude and he will be hearing from me. He turned to his co-worker and said something nasty infront of me. The older waiter that recognized me did not try to help and joined with Jerry against me. very bad experience, I was told the lady manager is in New York and Jerry is her replacement. read more

Thank you Tea House for being on open on the Fourth of July and answering the phone when I other restaurants didn't. I wasn't starving but wanted something light after traveling today. I had the scallion pancakes and vegetarian potstickers. Waiter asked me if I wanted them steamed or pan fried - I chose the former and appreciated having a lighter option. Scallion pancake was good, though a little greasier than I'm used to. The potstickers were ok but fell apart easily. As a pescetarian, I wish they would have offered har gow (steamed shrimp dumplings). I'm from CA where there's tons of great Chinese (including dim sum) restaurants so the caliber of the food I had tonight isn't up to par with my favorite Chinese spots. Contrary to other reviewers, I had no issues with service, though today may have been the exception rather than norm because of the holiday. I'd been eying up this place the past several times I stayed in the Plymouth, MN area. I finally got there the last time I was in town. It was overall a really nice experience. The service wasn't particularly fast but it was pleasant and I was in no hurry. It was a rainy night in fall and I really enjoyed having some hot tea while waiting for my entree. The food (I got Kung Pao Chicken) was quite tasty. It was in line with safe, familiar American Chinese food. Which hit the spot for me. Came here for lunch with family midweek. Prices were reasonable for the lunch buffet so we decided to give that a go as the individual items on the menu were priced much higher. The buffet had some great options but was a little smaller than what we were expecting. One item I would not recommend are the potstickers- very dry with a questionable filling. I really enjoyed the kung pao chicken and the fried rice, as well as the cream cheese wontons. The service here was really great, drinks consistently filled and friendly greetings from the staff. The restaurant was clean and the decor was pleasing was well. It felt very relaxing and quiet as we ate our lunch. I haven't been to this restaurant for awhile, but I can't remember it being this awful. The food was totally one dimensional. For example, I had the Kung Pao Chicken, in which I did detect some ginger. However, the dish consisted of chicken and peanuts. Nothing else. No onions, no carrots, no scallions, no garlic, and worst of all, no flavor. My wife's choice was equally uninspired. The service matched the quality and enthusiasm of the food, which is to say that it was totally lacking. I wanted to see if I could vary the spiciness of the dishes and the answer is take it as is, or have absolutely no spice at all. Our waitress took our order and dropped it on the table when ready. We did not see her until we got a check. She watched me knock over a cup of tea and ran away. I was sure she was getting some napkins or a towel. Nope. I had to take napkins from another table to stop the river of tea. Truly, this food was totally boring. I should of taken photos of our food, but all you need to do is picture the color brown and that is pretty much it. I took the leftovers home because I am sure I could turn it into a much better meal, but that's not why we go out. The food and the service of the Teahouse in Plymouth is just plain sad. read more

I stopped in for lunch with a coworker who had recommended this spot for decent Chinese food. We arrived just around 12PM on a weekday. We were greeted and sat right after we walked in. There were a good number of people dining for lunch. A few minutes after we sat down, an employee dropped off some menus and took our drink orders. The menu had quite a bit of variety including some lunch specials and dim sum options. I'd say I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food, so I was unsure as to how much I'd like this food. Our server came over to take our orders; I went for the Szechuan Cold Noodles and House Beef Roll. My coworker went for a General Tsaos lunch combo. Our food came out in just over 10 minutes. The House Beef Roll hadn't come out, and the server didn't mention it being on its way. I wasn't able to ask her, since she had left quickly to take care of other tables. The noodles ended up being quite a large portion, so I was fine with the beef roll not coming out. About 10 minutes later, it was brought over by another server. The noodles were decent, but not the best I've had. Most street noodles have some form of chili oil or sesame oil, but these had a bit too much for my liking. The quality of the actual noodles tasted relatively fresh. I enjoyed the beef roll, but it had some sort of a strong flavor that I can't describe. The texture and crisp were nice, but again a bit too oily compared to other scallion pancakes I've had. Throughout our meal, the service wasn't really consistent. I was glad that there weren't many additional requests we had during our meal. Overall, this place is OK. You get a solid portion of food for the prices, and the quality is consistent. Service is a bit subpar, but I've definitely experienced worse at other places before. I wouldn't necessarily seek this place out, but it's proximity to many corporate buildings in the area still makes it a good option to go to during a set amount of time during a lunch hour. read more

Picked up egg rolls and Mu Shu Shrimp this evening, ready in about 15 min and was hot and fresh when I tried it. Egg rolls were tasty and crisp, not greasy. They were served with a side of plum sauce. The mu shu shrimp was very good. Plenty of tender shrimp although they had a soft, sticky coating which I could have done without. The pancakes were fresh and the mu shu experience was great! A good place close to the Marriott West for food pick up. read more

Normally we love eating here: great food, good service. What happened today? Dropped in for lunch, did not want the buffet. Our server took the initial order quickly but brought me water rather than the requested iced tea and we had to find our own napkins, plates and forks from a nearby table. The hot and sour soup arrived room temperature at best, and I had to hunt down the server to report it. The pan fried pot stickers were brought quickly and were good; the reheated soups arrived shortly thereafter and still weren't up to par: one steaming, one lukewarm and with a weird single bite of something gritty. We're not going to stop eating here (yet) as I hope this was just a one-off of bad service and mediocre food. read more

Have been here many times over the years, maybe two decades, including Christmas Eve. It was my favorite dinner and movie place to meet friends and family. Tonight, however, 12/24/2019, they said they decided to not honor reservations because it got so busy, that we would have to wait along with all the other walk-ins, and were really rude... we planned our evening around this and seeing Star Wars and made the reservation two weeks ago.... will never be back. They lost a loyal customer. Stay away, for this my additional comments below. What I can add is I have witnessed this place decline over the years. Willow Creek theaters were transformed. Pineda tacos was a total dive, but is now really good ... and as my family and friends have commented, I was the last fan of Tea House. What I really liked about the place was the picture of the dishes and being able to find a single beef soupy dish that they can make super spicy ... so good I crave it and kept wanting to go back ... except the last two times I went there, it just was not good. I am normally able to eat the whole thing in one sitting, but the last time sent half back ... I have always thought the buffet line food looks and tastes like typical bad Chinese food. Hence why I was so thrilled to find a go-to dish I could order instead. As for the interior, I'd give it a two. It used to be a lot better. Service has always been bad. So ... without the final nail in the coffin experience over dinner, I would still only give Tea House an overall two stars because it has fallen down to just another mediocre Chinese restaurant. You cannot just unilaterally decide to not honor reservations you accepted and screw your customers over. That drops them to a permanent one star, a Stay Away rating, and I will not be back. Well, the good news is there are plenty of other eating options nearby, and you can still make a nice dinner and a movie night out. Its our Anniversary. We came to this restaurant because its special for us. When we first sat down we ordered the soup dumplings. We asked if we could order our main courses once they were served, as they take a long time. He said that was okay. Apparently this upset both the server and cookstaff and they refused to serve us entrees. He showed us other peoples entrees to make us feel bad. Been a long time customer of this restaurant and I'm pretty upset about the horrible service. I've made this same request before and it wasn't a big deal. TL:DR remember that Chinese Restaurant at the end of the movie THE CHRISTMAS STORY ... well, this reminded me of it. Buffet was just filer foods, mainly chicken and one pork dish, and that is about it. Was in the area and decided to visit this joint, and wow, it looked run down. It looks and feels like a run down Chinese Buffet joint... wait, it is. It was around 1pm when we arrived, and not many people, so we got to sit where ever we liked. We decided to try the buffet, and we were greeted with lots of chicken dishes, and some old dried rice... I guess the lunch crowd came and went because, they didnt even refill any of the offerings, and the rice was dehydrated again. Not very appetizing, but none of us got sick, which was a good thing. I sat down and ordered water and some hot tea. That was good. Then the fun began. Choose some chicken that was either brown, orange, yellow or fried. There was one pork dish, but it was empty. The spring rolls (veggie type) were good, but the pork egg rolls needed some work. The fried tofu was good at least. The egg drop soup was ok. And the Tea was Hot ... The "Meh. I've experienced better." for this 2 star review is very accurate to how if felt after finishing my meal. I got fried rice with chicken. I asked to see if it was made with gluten-free ingredients and they said they could make it gluten-free. I found it was an up-charge for a gluten-free soy sauce which I don't mind but out was never mentioned on the menu nor did they communicate to me that it was for an additional dollar. On top of that, the chicken was awful. It had absolutely no flavor. It was like they cooked the rice and had boiled pieces of chicken and just threw them in there at the end. The chicken was very spongy and mushy; I was not impressed at all. However, the rice was flavorful and nice but it just didn't make up for the quality of the chicken. I went today and the service was fine, but the food could not have been worse(unless it was litera garbage). I always used to order the pork buns back when they were made by someone. But today they apparently swapped from 8 pork buns to 4 bigger ones. so first is the quantity change. Second the pork buns were some sort of instant dinner crap! The meat inside was like a Jimmy Deans sandwich patty, and the dough was some cheap knock off. I have no idea if some cooks retired or if the ownership changed, but there's no way one of my favorite spots would go this bad. read more
