Would do 0 stars if possible. Don't bother with them if you can help it. Service was ok but when I went to cancel they charged me $400 that is only refunded once they get their router back. They don't mention this to you so you just get a surprise giant charge on your account. This is about $100 worth of equipment at best by the way. Completely unacceptable and they were unwilling to reverse the charge. Good way to lose a return customer as I will not go back on the service ever again. read more

I wouldn't even give them one star... They say they lost my phone number and email address... I returned all the electronics and they still charge me $209... No explanation for the fee... The only reason I heard about the $209 is from a collection agency because they never even sent me a final bill... I called customer service and they basically told me screw you your account is closed. We have no intention of helping you or working with you to pay off this amount and we could care less how it affects your credit report... I would've paid it if they had explained what it was for, but I believe it's fraud, and stealing cash. I will never have anything to do with this horrible company again.. read more

I have had TDS for two - three weeks now and I've had nothing but problems. They are lucky that there isn't Xfinity in my area because I would leave in a heartbeat. TDS has horrible customer service, none of them know what they are talking about. I was on the phone for 4 1/2 hours today with TDS ... nothing got resolved. They wouldn't fix the problem I was having with my modem, instead they kept trying to get me to buy there's. I have never experienced such bad internet . I wouldn't recommend TDS to anyone. read more

TDS - Television Service Providers Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY! If I could give this company a negative number, I would. I originally chose TDS because it is a midwestern company and I falsely assumed it was made up of people with good values. Here's why I was wrong. I sent back an unused piece of equipment to them in THEIR prelabeled box which "customer service" claimed never arrived and they never looked into it further. I had to call them at least three times and UPS twice to get any useful information but was still unable to track down the package due to no UPS receipt, which they did not give me. This was literally hours on the phone because it takes FOREVER to reach a human being. TDS made it clear that the loss was my fault and I would have to pay $100 for equipment that didn't even work for me. They eventually sent the charge to a collections agency which was even more humiliating. Then "Customer service" informed me when I called to disconnect and tell them how terrible they are that they would not refund me any remaining balance for cutting service in the middle of a billing cycle. Beware, apparently the FCC has allowed all of these companies to do this now. I have never in my life experienced such egregious disregard for the customer and have returned to Spectrum. Here are some other reasons to NOT USE TDS: 1. Tech appointments are a 2-4 week wait. I only had one helpful tech in talking with four. 2. The IP addresses rotate MANY times per day so that my internet-based work phone would need to be unplugged and re-plugged in all day long. 3. Their communication about anything other than getting their money is pretty much non-existent. 4. Online account is not very intuitive, needs work for easier use. 5. Did I mention their customer service is horrendous?? Look elsewhere, unless you have no choice as we did when we lived in a rural area. Providing service where nobody else does seems to be the only way TDS stays in business, such a shame. read more

My internet went out. Oh no! What do I do? I hit the App eero. There is a list of things to do. #1 health check. Yep it is down. #2 Follow the instructions and checked my modem and router. No lights. #3 Unplug, wait, plug in ...no lights. Fans are on so I paid my utility bill. Hmmm I go to the electrical panel. I see a breaker switch in the wrong direction. Click. Walk upstairs and the lights are on and so is my internet. Ran the health check one more time. I love this feature. So easy to do. Spent more time writing this review than turning the flicking the switch. Life is good. read more

Absolutely useless services. Your free 3 months isnt actually free btw and they dont send you a bill for the taxes and fees you still pay on free service. Oh and then when you get disconnected it takes an entire day to get reconnected. During the time of having their 1GB download speeds i still cannot play video games online without constant lags and glitching. read more

Absolute garbage company. Dug a bunch of holes in my backyard in June to install fiberoptic cable. It's October. The holes are still there and there are piles of construction equipment. I'm not even a customer and I never will be, since they don't care about all of the damage they have done to my property. Do not buy anything from TDS. read more

As a teacher I opt to my service to handle all of the virtual school stuff. TDS was great and giving me a 60-day credit and a 300-mb service which was running great. The second thing 60-day credited service was up our internet hit the floor. On average we are receiving 30 megabytes Here are the three speed tests I ran before this review. I've worked with tech support twice and even purchased my own router since I was paying $5 a month for something that Did not deliver what I was paying for. Honestly I don't believe I should be charged in full for the last couple months of service. I'd be happy to pay their lowest internet fee considering that's what I received, but don't expect any money back. read more

Recently got TDS TV + and I have to say I'm impressed so far. In the past, have been using TIVO for for OTA, Hulu TV for premium channels and TDS Fiber for internet. By bundling TDS TV with internet, at least for the next year, I'll be saving some money and have a very good set-up. It has a lot of similarities to TIVO. Unlike TIVO, the recordings are stored in the cloud rather than on the box. I'm not going to lie, I kind of prefer storing them on a box but it does work very well, especially when combined with the high speed fiber service you can get from TDS. The remote isn't quite as good as TIVO but still very good. Only downside I've seen is that you are kind of tied to Firestick on other TVs as the app is not available on ROKU. App is also available on iPhone and works well. Guess my final conclusion is that TIVO with Charter is probably the best TV option if you don't care about money but from a value perspective, I think they have a very competitive product. Would highly recommend considering TDS TV+ if you have their internet service. Great product. read more

If you like your yard the way it is. I wouldn't let them near your place. After 10 calls and emails they finally can to put some seed down and straw but literally did the worst job possible. Didn't bring any top soil. Left huge rocks and 8" clumps of clay with grass seed on top. Then, we were told we would have service in December. Its now May. They set up 4 appointments with us for contractors to come and still nothing happened. Always some excuse. read more

I paid my final bill in August, when I cancelled my service. I was told that everything was good. I couldn't sign into my online account anymore and never heard another word from them. Then, right before Christmas, I get an email from a collection company saying I owe money. When I call them and ask them why they never called me, the woman I spoke to, sarcastically said, "Well I'm sorry, but you need to make the payment today." I paid it, but talk about horrible customer service. Never again with this company. read more

I cancelled service on April 27th. The bill has billed through May 15th. Jake from customer service said something to the effect of "We don't prorate so you have to pay through the end of the billing period." I am forced to pay my final bill for services I didn't have through May 15th! What an awful final experience with this company. NOTHING but billing nightmares. I have half the mind to pay a court filing fee (would cost way more than the final bill) just to fight these people. I guarantee this wouldn't hold up. It's completely ridiculous to charge people for services they didn't receive. I'm going to wait a couple weeks to receive the final statement. If it comes in showing what Jake said, I'm going to issue a complaint to the FCC, Federal Communications Commission. PLEASE, if you have other options for service, consider them. TDS Staff: The call occurred 05/07/2020 around 8AM MST to pull the recorded call. I called in, talked to someone in billing who transferred me to account services where I spoke to Jake. I ended the call telling him this review was happening. CONSUMERS: Know your rights. "The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates cable and satellite services to protect consumers. At the FCC Consumer Complaint Center, you can either file a complaint or get information about cable and satellite TV consumer issues. For general questions, call 1-888-225-5322." read more

Whoever runs this company should be ashamed of themselves. This is without question the worst ISP I have ever experienced. It is somehow worse than Comcast. I only use them because there are no other options where I live. I would give them 0 stars were it an option. While the Internet is reliable, nothing else is. Customer Service are a bunch of inexperienced clowns that talk over you when they don't like what you are saying to them. They are incredibly rude and offer no assistance to the issues. I have been hung up on multiples times by these people when they become too frustrated to attempt to de-escalate my situation. When I call back and ask for a supervisor, I never get one and then they hang up on me again. Who runs a company this way??? Once my contract ended, their rates rose exponentially. I have contacted them 4 times with promises that my rate would stay the same and it increased by at least 20 bucks a month for the last 3 months. Everytime I spoke to someone new, they never acknowledged what the previous CSR told me and then proceed to lie to me again. NEVER EVER use this company unless you have no other choice. read more

If you love to be SCAMMED this is the company for you. Called eight times to disconnect service. Each representative has lied to us. They tell us our service will be disconnected, but it never was. The customer service people also love to hang up on customers & pass you around to the next representative TDS also states on their website that customer service is here in the US, and well...that's a lie. I've never dealt with such run around in my life and I'm thinking that these workers are trained to do this. We still have internet to this day (not being used). We've returned all equipment back to this shady company. They keep billing us! It's honestly crazy at this point. I'm filing a complaint with the FCC, and Better Business Bureau, not only for my own benefit, but for all consumers. I'm not expecting much to happen though. :( I suggest you do the same if you've experienced billing issues, service issues, damaged property, etc. Maybe something can change if we all start speaking up against this company. Word of advice: Please, keep all records/receipts. They also love to claim equipment hasn't been returned. ( I haven't dealt with this issue, but others have). Also, I suggest every call to customer service be record for your own records/protection. read more

My uncle passed away, and I am the Executor of his estate. Out of all the companies I've had to deal with in getting his affairs in order, TDS has been by far the worst. We've made 5 phone calls since 8/24/21, and talked to TDS reps from all over the world. They've been extremely unhelpful, and mostly unsympathetic. They've made this process more painful than it already is. I would consider any other option first, and I will never go with TDS in the future. TDS had an opportunity to shine, and they failed miserably. Shame on TDS and their obvious indifference to their customers. read more

Terrible product. Terrible service. By far the worst tv and internet service I've ever used. Where I live you have NO choice but to have TDS. It's a punishment. You'll record a tv show or shows and they'll disappear. The remotes may work and they may not. The tv may work and it may not. You'll be watching a recorded show and it will just stop and delete the rest with no notice. I've seen things happening TDS that I've never seen before. I started keeping a log and taking pictures of the various problems. The absolute worst. read more

We live in a non-compete neighborhood and have no other internet option other than TDS. Started attempting to schedule install over 5 weeks ago. After repeated phone calls and dealing with their fragmented system (call representatives can't tell you work order status or confirm when promised actions will be complete). We are now being told it till be another 2 weeks until we will have internet in our new home.l, which will make this an 8 week process with poor communication along the way. The lack of concern and failure to expedite issues that were failure to follow through on their end is unacceptable. Sadly our neighborhood is at their mercy with no other choice. If you have a choice, choose another internet provider! read more

By far the worst experience i have ever had, the company is a bully and forces its fees on you even after it has promised to resolve the issue. I canceled my services and was mailed a box to return the equipment. 6 months later i get a statement for $158.25 for unreturned equipment. Calling and talking to supervisors goes nowhere. They mentioned there are no notes in the system about any of the previous conversations on about equipment. It's obvious nobody cares or enters in notes. This review was hard to write because the actual service itself blows away Charter Spectrums internet. I had to cancel due to the constantly changing monthly statements and horrible customer service. They just bully you to eat the costs since you cannot provide proof they received it. Account number 102-621-1544 read more

What a terrible experience. I thought spectrum was bad well not even close to tds. I ordered service, set up time for install, waited all afternoon and nobody showed up. When I called they told me they weren't set up for service at my address. So I told them to cancel it. 1 month later I had guy marking out my yard and I told him I cancelled the install. He told me he would make sure they knew I cancelled. 2 days later they showed up and started to bury the cable. Good thing I came home half way thru and stopped it. Tore my yard all up and just left. What I terrible experience. Will cost me several hundred dollars to fix my yard. read more

TDS internet services are one of the worst in my area - Madison, WI area. I joined as a new customer in July with a promo of $55 per month for 3 years. In first 3 months, they started charging for a modem that I never took from them and then started a phone line charge which I never had. After 3 months of stable bill, the bill doubled to $110. And the customer service is almost helpless. 2 hours of wait time, multiple calls made, NO RESOLUTION. No one has any idea in customer support. If you value good service, good internet, and consistent pricing, you should stay 10 feet away from this company. One of the worst in the business. read more

I've given TDS some time after they acquired my local provider before giving them a review. I will state, I'm sure that the systems they acquired weren't probably the latest, and in the best shape so I'm sure that has some to do with the technical issues I've experienced - however that isn't the meat of why they only get a 2 star review. 1) When they first purchased my local ISP they had to transfer my business account over and because it's in my home... apparently it was something they struggled to understand and the transition was an absolute cluster ****. It took talking to several people over several weeks to get it all squared away, having to have different accounts - which when I call in for service still causes issues. As a company who appears to do these acquisitions frequently that had no clue how to handle this. 2) Since they took over they have been working to "upgrade" and integrate their systems and the ones they took over. This has caused so many outages, that's we have at least small ones every day - and when you're working from home this makes things like skype/online meetings more of a gamle than trying to hit a royal straight flush in vegas. It's frustrating to say the least. And again, this is on a "business class" service. They also took weeks and weeks to find and fix one problem where I was getting almost dial up speeds, and the local tech (whom is contracted) told me he kept trying to tell them the issue was in their head ends and they wouldn't listen - apparently he was right and they finally got that issue squared away and when it works we generally get speeds close to what we pay for. 3) Customer service - This right here is the reason for - 2 stars and I'm considering as I'm writing this taking off another star because of how mad it makes me. They have yet to ever credit me for any down time and anytime I call in they tell me "call back when it's repaired and we'll calculate how much credit you should get" - Again, I'm on a business class account with language in the contract that says I'm due these credits but I have to beg to try to get them. As someone who's been in IT for about 25 yrs, who has worked in fortune 100 companies in both Networking Engineering role and an InfoSec role I have NEVER seen this crappy level of service (and I've seen some real level's of poop) to a business customer. But since they are really the only "viable" option in the area they really don't care. 3a) As stated, I'm a business class customer, so I'd expect - and I've even said this to them, that if there is a planned outage/upgrade that might affect my service to be NOTIFIED of it prior to me calling in. But I have not once been proactively notified of a planned outage/upgrade. I wouldn't expect to be notified when they aren't planned (I just presume they will happen at least in short bursts daily now), but when you plan something that will take me down for hours during the day and you still won't notify me??? If you have other viable options, I'd strongly suggest you take them. However if you're stuck like I am due to where I live, just know they don't really care about you, the service when it works does generally do well, but expect frequent outages and nothing but excuses and not to be compensated for all your downtime. read more

I thought Comcast was bad and switched. What a mistake. Comcast *IS* bad, but these guys are worse. Weekly outages, sometimes for days. Unresponsive but saccharine sweet 'customer service' agents. Internet speeds that are 1/10 of what they advertise. Sign with them at your own risk. Be warned, they don't pro-rate your bill to get out. Cancel on the right day or be prepared to pay for a month of their so-called service to get these vampires out of your house. read more

Decent service horrible customer service! Paying your bill is a freaking headache. I live in a rural area so I have choice.

I cannot recommend this company. As others have indicated, the customer service is dreadful. We were simply trying to disconnect our service due to selling our home and relocating to another state. They made the process incredibly difficult, you cannot cancel your account online, you must talk with representatives, you are put on hold over and over, often times for up to an hour, then disconnected, having to restart the whole process again and again. I could go into more detail, but the process took over two months to resolve. Customers that are moving are under stressful circumstances, and TDS just made everything worse. It's completely unnecessary to make disconnecting your service this complicated; all they did was assure that I never used TDS again and proceeded to write this review. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. I moved to the countryside in eastern Wisconsin (not even that rural) and their "Turbo" internet at 15 Mbps infuriates me as a software engineer. This speed is way too low for a single user streaming, let alone a household on one "Turbo" plan. Sometimes with only one device connected to the internet I will still be disconnected from my virtual machine or Zoom meeting. Absolutely horrendous speeds for $61/mo that doesn't even let me do my job sometimes. I will be moving due to just this. I love my family and being near them but this is absolutely a deal breaker for where I can live. It's very sad that local/state governments allow these sleeze balls to provide such terrible services without any repercussions. Internet is a modern day utility and should be treated just like water. When calling to ask about expanding the speed, they offered to install another "Turbo" line at 15 Mbps. How the hell is this a good solution when your first "Turbo" line isn't even enough? Absolutely disgusted. Modern day infrastructure is failing from underneath us and these guys won't give any craps. read more

I purchased TDS TV, because I was told I could use the app on my phone to watch DVR shows. It worked for about 2 weeks and I went to Florida. In Florida, we tried to stream a DVR show to the smart TV, but received message that you cannot stream outside your regional viewing area. I understood that and that is not the issue. I get back to "regional viewing area" and now the app is still giving that error message when I try to watch a show. I've called in 4 times, done everything they have asked to try to correct it and then they tell me "you cannot watch a show on the app, outside your home" What is the purpose of having an app, that I cannot use unless I'm in my home (where I have a 60 inch TV)? TDS is a horrible company period! I was a customer for MANY years and ALWAYS paid on time and in full. I used to refer new business to them but never again! Been trying to get installation for 3 months now. The first tech was great and noticed the required external equipment was not in place so we had to wait for that to get done. After it was completed the tech told me to schedule the install. Scheduled over the phone and was told I'd get a text and email confirming. Got the text which asked me to press Y to confirm. I press Y and get a message that there was a problem please call. So I call and wait on hold and the person tells me there is no issue and we're all set. Waited at home for 3 hours, nobody showed. Reached out to them to let them know and 3 days go by before someone replies that it wasn't installed because external equipment is missing. What? Do you not communicate there? So another tech comes last week and confirms what we already know and we're good to go. Now I'm still waiting for someone to call me back as I was told they would to schedule the install.
