Only one star because I had to pick one. Absolutely horrible! Do not use!!!! I cancelled with TDS due to moving to another state, no issue on the phone..well except you have to mail them back the equipment because you cannot drop it off at a store...and THEY CHARGE YOU AN ADDITIONAL $20! So a month goes by I get my bill, I have to call because as soon as you cancel service they deactive your account and you literally can't see what they're charging you...sketchy. Unless there's reason for me to leave an outstanding good review for someone/some company, I don't leave reviews. However, in this instance, I really don't want anyone else to make my same mistake of "testing" out TDS. I thought it'd be great to try a local provider, especially since the alternative providers are so large. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when my first conversation with a representative was very snarky and rude. I had questions about how their services and prices worked, but he got very irritated with me asking those questions. Second call with a rep was better, so, like I said, gave the benefit of the doubt and decided to move forward with getting 50mbps for ~$50 a month and the phone line would be free. They come set up the phone line, we check the speed, and it's at 6/7mbps. Well, our Xbox still functioned fine and our phones were good, so we dealt with it. End of our first month rolls around and we get a $117 bill. Turned out, even though what we saw online while discussing with them on the phone was 50mbps, it was 15. And the phone line is free, but not really, there's 7 other fees associated with it. Plus first time fees for just having the service. In a nut shell, please please please don't waste your time and money with this company who's employees seem to not even like it, who don't communicate other fees (though we ask), and who don't tell you what maximum internet speeds you're actually buying. Internet worked for 2 weeks then stopped working. Needed internet to take my virtual school exam the next day but no service technician was available until the end of the week! Canceled service and set up Charter internet later that day. It's been two months and I am still getting a bill for services after I have called them about canceling service. TDS Telecom, Out of touch with modern times, unwilling to invest in growth and service. Leaves their lowsy DSL service in poor operational condition. Specially in areas they have service dominance, to get faster speeds you have to move to their Cell Data plan with US Cellular which is owned by TDS. I get faster speeds in Homer Alaska with MTA than I do with TDS less than 1 mile from their hub. Latency speeds slower than sattelite. $60 a month for 1.1MBPS Down, .6MBPS up and a latency of 520MS using their DSL, If you have other service options that avoids TDS I HIGHLY recommend you go that route. read more

I don't have TDS as service provider and and it has been very aggravating dealing with them. Twice I have started to switch to TDS and they don't have any idea what is going on. The first time the salesman who stopped by my house and talked me into switching was a liar. Quoted me the 600 Mbps for the 300Mbps price and then wouldn't answer his phone when I tried calling him back. I just cancelled the service by disputing my credit card charge. I just tried setting up Internet service again- I set up service on-line over the weekend -$29.95 for 2 years with no contract. Monday I receive an email to contact them to finish setting my account and the person on the other end (hard to understand) starts setting me another installation date and tells me its a 12 month promotion. Two years ago TDS tore up my front yard when I was gone on vacation and hit a sprinkler line and I came back to part of my front lawn burned up. I would have said nothing but good things and have actually about TDS until the last few weeks especially yesterday. Our area doesn't have many options sadly and when we went from a local internet in 2022 to TDS we couldn't be happier. We rarely had issues maybe 2 x up until a few weeks ago. Our wifi started having some slow issues and then went completely one day. A tech came and told us that a neighbor had run over the pedestal destroying everything. He had to splice things back together. He came to the house and checked our speed. He said he still didn't like it much and changed the router. We both checked and were getting speeds into the 40's. The next day the wifi was a bit slow again and then we weren't able to stream tv. So another tech came and told us that two areas had been chewed by something so he fixed it. That night we noticed slow wifi again. Yesterday two techs, both of whom had just been here came and told us that we were over the footage limit for the Warped plan we had been on for 3 yrs!! With NO problems until the guy ran over the cables. So they tell us they had to knock us down to the Mach plan which is up to 25 mbps instead of 50 we have had for 3 yrs. NO explanation as to why other than sorry you are over the limit. Well, my house hadn't moved and we sure didn't have an issues prior. I called and spent about 3 hrs talking to different people yesterday and then again today. Sorry, we can't help you is all I got. NOT A FAN!!! Customer Service sucks!! Hello Yelpers, My wife and I moved to St George five weeks ago. I thought we'd give cable TDS a shot at a great product and service. Previously we had Dish and it was ~meh... WOW, do I have a enthusiastic and renewed appreciation for Dish. I have spent at least 90 minutes per week for the last five weeks to get a web site log in to work. The wait time on customer support is industry average; additionally they are great. The wait time on Tech support.... is HORRIBLE! The people, pretty good but all of their platforms do not communicate with each other. You end up having the same problem but on a different device ie) computer finally allows a log in; apple TV does not using same info. Additionally, a screen will read, " call this number" you wait on hold only to be advised, 'Sir, you have the wrong number..." Yup, that's right. It must be my fault. Their people are great. The vision of the company and the tech division is in shambles.... I MISS DIRECT TV!!! Received a flyer in the mail. Called the same day and was told that promo ran out. The promo is 29.95 for 3 years 300MBPS or 1gig 49.95 expiring on 9/15/22. He then placed me on hold to get a new promo which was 300 MBPS for 24 months at 72.44. If you get a flyer it's just to get you on the phone. Don't waste your time. Update: I scheduled an at-home tech appointment. After reading these reviews I called back to ensure there would be no fees. Only after asking directly was I informed that if the tech doesn't find an issue I would be subject to fees. When informing the representative it puts me at risk as the issue is unpredictable INCONSISTENCY in speeds, I was told it was an unfair way to phrase things. Now I'm canceling the appointment to avoid the risk of TDS tacking on charges for not "finding anything wrong" which they'd undoubtedly refuse to waive before again pushing us to upgrade our plan. I'm quite helpless in this situation. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Unable to purchase Charter my wife and I were forced to use TDS. Our sales rep was informed at the time of purchase that we both work from home and require bandwidth enough for teleconferencing and video streaming. We were actually advised against a more expensive package. Things worked fine until the floods in August. It took TDS close to 3 weeks to restore service, and the service has been plagued with inconsistency and latency issues ever since. Each troubleshooting call has yielded differing responses including non-diagnosis confusion as "everything looks correct on their end," TDS not having enough bandwidth to support the number of people in the area, and the new, favorite response of "We don't know why you were sold this plan, we don't offer it anymore, you should upgrade." Requests to speak to managers result in promises one will reach out, we haven't once heard back. And at no point has anyone told us how we were sold an "unavailable" package or why things were just fine before the floods. TDS has also made no reparations for the poor response to restoring service post floods nor the numerous times we have been forced to go without it service. In closing, use any provider except TDS. read more

Horrible experience. Do not be home if you are a woman for the install. Definitely sexist. Condescending. Tech arrived disheveled. Entered my unit did a 360 looking perplexed. I mean we are in studios so I can understand the layout if different. I let the tech know the numbers of two other units that already had tds installed. At this time. the tech asked me if I knew where the cables were or could I locate cables and advise-instruct him on how other units had tds internet installed. After speaking by phone with my husband at work, I went outside. Finally found a cable. I showed the tech who seemed grateful walking with me. By this time his supervisor was on the phone. Supervisor INTERRUPTS me mid-sentence repeatedly. Mrs ____, Mrs ____! please let my tech do his job! Woah. So I tell the supervisor that it was his tech that asked me for this information and to pls not interrupt me or lil woman me. Boom. Nail hit. Just like that supervisor tells his tech, "leave the premises." My husband was on FaceTime during this incident. He did not know that meant the tech was leaving. Lol. Yes. So I moved into an apartment and the only internet company I was able to use is TDS. I can't get access to my online account, so when I call in to get access they charge me a ' convenience fee' of $3.95 for making a payment over the phone. Then on top of that the individual who was 'helping' me kept purposely pronouncing my name wrong even though I told him how to pronounce it. He was rude as hell and refused to give me his name. When I asked to speak with someone else, he laughed, pronounced my name wrong AGAIN and then hung up on me. Honestly, TDS sucks. As a whole, they need to not have a company. read more

I have been trying to contact someone about poor service, they have no way to talk to someone. I have called no one answers the phone. I was on hold for an hour. Then I went to live chat. Live chat has a timer it said 16 min, 16 min came and went. I waited one hour just to be cut off and have a message saying "Status: Canceled There are no agents to chat with" I have 3 teens waiting to do their online schooling. Scheduled an online appointment and they gave me a date two weeks from when I called. I called in to ask about my service and they told me it would be three weeks. They said they were gonna come out and bury the fiber line. They technician show up and informs me they are gonna do copper not fiber and it will be 25 mbps instead of 500 mbps. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I have had some very bad experiences trying to connect with someone. I am again on a hold, 6 holds and 4 phone calls but never someone who answers. They have decent services except their FiberOptic Internet is in and out and more so you can't talk to anyone from their customer service area. I literally have help each time calling more than 40 miuntes, which means some call being transferred I have held close to 2 hours. Charter and DirecTv may not be a great services but I always was able to get someone to assist. read more

Another late one because of rough patch and they charge me an extra $50. They had shut me off this time so I had to reconnect apparently. Alright, I'll pay it and get it over with. A week later later I call them wondering why it's not on. I'm told they had to use my cable to connect my neighbors Tds up. Seriously. "Latest you'll have to wait is Friday" 2 weeks later it's finally on and I get a $280 bill. This was apparently "the actual reconnect fee" (Why? Because of the hassle of jacking my internet cable?) We've been in the same town as a TDS office for many years after moving here from a few miles away. The 1st thing we did in our relocation was to find out about the local service providers. Sadly we'd already known too much about TDS because one of us works at a facility that depends upon TDS for telephone & internet - and over there it has been an absolute nightmare of problems. Adding to that, anyone we know who has been persuaded into using TDS reports the same exact things. Need to call 911 ?? Better have a cellular phone ready because 1/2 the time your TDS line will be out. TDS for internet here in town ?? No way. Why would any sane person agree to actually pay for service that is slow at best, has loads of downtime and is NOT priced competitively at all ?? And then (if all that wasn't bad enough) the worst of it: For all 5 years we've been in this multi-unit place, TDS has spammed us continually with paper as well as plastic mailers that are very misleading - so much so that after a while we noticed the excess & have made a collection of their junk mail just to get an idea of how much inexcusable waste they are committed to making. It is an astonishing amount - it must be that TDS absolutely despises trees and the environment in general to commit such eco-terrorism. From our POV, the only truly good thing that TDS could do would be to lay waste to their budget and go bankrupt, paving the way for some sort of takeover by a more responsive & responsible company. read more

The WORST company I have ever dealt with. TDS only wants your money. Me and my family have been paying for their phone and internet service for many years now. Despite the bills increasing, the service continues to worsen. Last year sometime in November/December our speeds were reduced by half. I then realized that TDS Telecom had been selling to more customers in our area even with the lines being congested. This is bad business practice. But they are a monopoly in this area. On one occasion upon calling customer service I was being threatened to end our contract with TDS Telecom because they felt I was being "too concerned" with why the internet service was getting slower. That's a great way to anger customers. We are paying over $80 a month for internet and it is slower now than it's ever been. After running several Speedtests I can conclude that we will probably never get the speeds we used to. Doing online work and paying bills is becoming a complete chore due to poor service. TDS couldn't care less for their customers. Stay away from this company. Dial up is more reliable than TDS "High Speed" service. I hope in the coming years I will be able to move out of my home and get a real internet provider. Doing business online is no longer possible with TDS. read more

We recently had to have our cable box replaced. They shipped out a refurbished box which rattled around in the shipping box, poorly packed. It worked ok for a few weeks, and now we don't get all the channels we pay for. Trying to get this repaired via phone calls, which are routed out of the country is frustrating. You spend forever on the phone, they give you ticket numbers, and nothing gets done. How difficult is this? I understand we have issues with coved, but this is nuts. If we had another option besides satellite we'd change over. So, use this company if it's your only option, but don't expect quality service. If it wasn't for the wife, I'd drop this service and just use the internet, which I need for my work. Good luck read more

I've been using the company for maybe 5 years, its always been a horrible service that cuts out alot. But the robbery they done I won't forgive. They stole 600 from me during covid and just now I had a modem go out due to weather and I had to order a new one. Nothing at all was said by the company about sending the broken one in. TDS Telecom is a FAILURE! Internet went out on the 15th, waited until the 17th a tech 2 hour late partially fixed it. Said he was leaving the ticket open & someone would be back tomorrow. NO SHOW. I called in and they did NOTHING, apparently the tech lied..... So now the might be back on the 21st! Failure, lies and the worst service on the planet. My internet has been out and required a technician visit like 15 times since the beginning of the year. COVID 19 and the kids needed the internet to do their schoolwork and my household needs the internet to make a living as well. TDS is terrible! Customer service is non-existent! I called twice to talk with someone. First time I was on hold for 37 minutes and I finally hung up. Second time after waiting 21 minutes, someone finally picked up. I asked one question, they put me on hold for 5 minutes. Then I asked if I could move my phone number to a mobile provider, Tony put me on hold again. Should that be something all customer service reps should know? After being on the phone a total of 1 hour on just this call, 97 minutes total, I hung up once it was 7:11PM figuring they were not going to come back since the website says they are open until 7:00 PM! These clowns should be put out of business. Also reviewing their website, phone and internet costs $39.94/mo., a special. We are currently paying $90+ for the same service and that only includes local calls, no long distance. We have been a customer for 28 years. I guess they do not care about their customers! Two recent experiences with TDS. First, we asked for an upgrade to the internet service. The technician was 1.5 hours late for the appointment. He was antisocial from the minute he walked in our door. When he told us we had to move a heavy computer cabinet so he could check wiring, we took all the books, etc., out and he harshly said, "we don't move your stuff" as he watched two elderly people struggle to move this cabinet. He then looked at the wall behind and said "Oh, the phone connection is on the other side of the wall, so you didn't have to move the cabinet". He then barked at us, "Where's your phone main entrance." We had no idea what he was talking about. We went to the basement and moved a lot of other stuff only to be told that wasn't it. He then discovered it, directly under the outside phone junction. He left with two very angry customers. Secondly, I just I just got off the phone with TDS after 30 minutes of hold and shifting from dept. to dept. Our phone's star feature wasn't working. It is clearly in our package by their own account. But I am never calling TDS about anything again. read more

Horrible! Unfortunately, I don't have a choice due to HOA. It's a short term leasing/vacation condo in Estes Park, CO that I own where I actually live full time. So, HOA has the lead on Cable/Wifi. TDS cable is awful!! I can't stand it anymore. Several times a day on a VERY daily basis, I lose the signal for up to a minute. This has become, how should I put it, "Ghetto"!! Customer service and technical support have been good for me trying to deal with my "upgrade" to their TDS+ TV service. Problem after problem. Almost every day and sometimes multiple times a day. Issue appears to be from a poorly designed system released too soon. I have only had new TV system for a month, but have been a customer for probably 6 years. Few if ever issues with internet or landline. But if they can't get the bugs out of the system soon, I will be forced to switch to Spectrum. read more
