The picnic tables, outdoor games, board games, and variety of seating create such a fun, relaxing atmosphere. We especially love their "No Karens" sign, which made our experience tonight all the more ironic, considering the attitude we encountered from one of the staff members.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED their Play Dough ice cream, so I was really disappointed to see it missing from the menu. Just to make sure I wasn't overlooking it, I asked a staff member if they still carried it. She stared at me blankly before responding as though I'd asked the most ridiculous question imaginable, saying, "No, we've never had that," and insisting I must have gotten it somewhere else. I was taken aback by her tone and dismissive attitude, especially as someone who has visited multiple times over the years.
I decided to get a chocolate peanut butter shake instead, which tasted great once I could finally drink it. Unfortunately, it was so thick that it took forever to thin out enough to go through the straw. It honestly felt like it had barely been blended.
My brother ordered a chocolate shake, which the same staff member forgot to make altogether. When we asked about it and she finally made it, somehow it ended up with mint flavoring. He hates mint, so he couldn't drink it. By that point, we'd already been home as he also had to let his shake sit forever before it was drinkable.
My stepdad ordered the Let's Dough Buffalo, which was freezer-burnt, negatively impacting the taste. When we tried to get it replaced with a different flavor, my mom waited several minutes before resulting to knocking on the window. The staff member was on the phone with her back turned to us, so she had to get her attention somehow. Thankfully, my stepdad was able to switch to Rocky Mountain Raspberry, which he enjoyed.
My mom ordered a soft-serve twist and was happy with it, so at least one order went smoothly!
It's especially disappointing because this isn't the first time we've had an unpleasant interaction with this particular staff member. Between the poor customer service, multiple issues with our orders, and the loss of my favorite flavor, tonight's visit was a major letdown.
The atmosphere and memories of previous visits are what kept bringing me back, but good ice cream and a fun setting can only go so far when the customer service is this disappointing. With so many other ice cream shops around, I unfortunately don't see a reason to return. It's a shame to see a place I used to love leave me feeling this way.
