I debated between 3 and 4 but overall was happy so wanted to be optimistic. Everything in the case looked delicious. I went for a slice of the spinach, cheddar tomato quiche, warmed, and a molasses cookie. First the good. The cookies was delicious. Moist, flavorful with just the right spices. The quiche was a mixed bag. Overall the flavor was pretty good...a tad bland but ok. But the crust was just awful. It was almost totally raw...and not just the wet crust under the egg but the edges too. There is no way they blind baked it at all. I was able to peel the entire crust off the egg with it breaking. There was no crumble at all. I could squeeze the edge and flatten it without it crumbling. I hate to be this critical but it was very bad. Everything else looked so good and because the egg part and the cookie were good I will definitely try again. read more

I visit this bakery every time I am visiting home, usually more than once. I love why they have done with all of the businesses together in there! I am gluten free and the gf treats here are out of this world! I have never had a cake from here, but they are usually designing something in the back that always looks amazing. read more

Well, perhaps this bakery puts out their best work in custom cakes or custom pastries, made to order, or a large group offering, as their on-site bakery-case in the Oswego Commons was not impressive in the least. Although there was no one else at the counter when we arrived, it took a bit of time to even get a hello as apparently a baking lesson was going on. Well ok. But as I watched this for a few moments, the lack of masks and lack of plastic gloves while the two bakers formed pastries bare handed and used bare thumbs for thumbprint cookies I couldn't help but wonder about... why not use gloves... not appealing at all. So even that though it was early morning and we were after a breakfast pastry , there were no muffins to be had , and only one type of scone which was pistachio , and not very inviting, as a blueberry or cranberry one may have been in March. The entire glass case had a very slim offering , especially for early morning where one would expect more of what is shown in their photos but it was extremely underwhelming. There was several types of big flat cookies, (not just out of the oven, and nothing any different or special than what would come out of any given unskilled average kitchen ) some cupcakes with deep frosting but which were extremely petite,for the price tag, and not a morning desire. No cinnamon rolls to be had, no bagels no breakfast bars. And definitely nothing that had been baked just this morning. I have to say that even the customer service was not very friendly I don't even remember a smile, it was like they just wanted to get back to that bare hands on baking and get us gone. So we settled on an apple croissant pastry. Now, I am a baker myself, and I know when something has been just pulled out of the oven as it starts to burn on the bottom as was the case with his pastry . And a croissant, it was not. I could not bite through it at all, the bottom layer of pastry was deep brown ,overdone and completely came off the actual pastry in a sheet, as it was too far gone ,having been over cooked, it also tasted stale , there was no freshness there at all, not a satisfying or delicious bite to be had. It was definitely not baked that morning and possibly not even the previous day , as the film of age over the apples was evident ,the staleness, along with the overcooked bottom was extremely obvious even to a non baker! But I could pick up on these issues immediately. Huge disappointment for a $4.50 breakfast treat. Split between the two of us the majority ended in the trash, with the words " inedible" and " 2 days old" being used to describe this expensive decision. I can tell you after that as I was going in the dollar store anyway. So I grabbed a hostess mini bunt and for a dollar, that was so much better. Moist ,delicate sweet and full of flavor. Healthy? Probably not ,but every now and then that's what we're after at a bakery isn't it....that is,. a treat? This is sad because with an additional new bakery in town we decided to try both; with Chelle's being the very first, because I noticed in their Facebook posts there were awesome pictures of pastries and dessert creations that looked drool worthy! Hugely deceptive. There was nothing like that in today's glass case offerings, not even close! however it is now the last bakery we will patronize , it's not even an option. not even a contender. I really wish I had taken a picture because it was not even a half full glass case with very unimpressive offerings with outrageous prices for what was being sold. read more

I recently had the pleasure of sampling some of Chelle's baked goods. When I say pleasure, I can't convey the absolute perfection that she achieves! It's not just the amazing taste of everything I tried, it's also the textures! From a chewy cookie, to a flaky crust, to the masterpiece of a simple sugar cookie. I will absolutely drive considerable miles out of my way to visit her bake shop again!! read more

This is my new favorite bake shop. I ordered my wedding cake from here. Went in for a taste test for the wedding cake and the girls there are amazing, fun , creative, nice people. And there cakes and fillings are AMAZING!!! My favorite is the lemon cake with raspberry buttercream, omg to die for :) Chelle is do nice and was willing and able to work in my budget as i am getting 2 cakes the wedding cake and my mans grooms cake. So excited cant wait i know itll be a wonderful desert for my guests.. read more

My mother called and asked for a gluten-free birthday cake for our 12-year-old, and you and your baking elves (there must be elves back there) provided the most scrumptious, gorgeous cake we ever had. So many gluten-free baked goods are not totally satisfying, but this one, well, took the cake. I was on vacation in Fair Haven and wanted to get in a bit of shopping. I was walking the strip where Chelle's Bake Shop was located and walked in because I'm always in the mood for baked goods. I picked a triple ginger cookie, a lemon ricotta cookie and a blueberry/lemon scone. They were to die for! So here I am back in Rochester craving these cookies. I think there is a road trip to Oswego in my near future. I need more. I'll be back sooner than later! Must try! read more
