Riverwalk Bagels goal is to bring a little bit of NYC to Oswego. Before opening the shop, they consulted world-renowned bagel artists to help perfect their very own bagel recipes. Their ingredients are locally sourced, and all of their menu items are fresh and made from scratch. I walked into Riverwalk Bagel on a rare morning trip to Oswego village and wanted some breakfast. Ordered a ham, egg and cheese on a jalapeno cheddar bagel. Got it, started eating and everything seemed fine. Meat was piled high, bagel was decent, but as I took a bite or two, I noticed something green in my egg. Not really sure how I missed it, as the spots are noticeable even in the pic I took before I started eating. I took the sandwich apart to see that there were green spots all over my egg. I took it to the front counter to see if maybe there was something they put in the eggs I didn't know about, but the response was basically "no, they're just old and get green spots on them when left in the steamer too long." I watched another employee go to the steamer and throw away the remaining eggs, but received no offer to remake mine or anything, employees were pretty apathetic the entire time I was there. I'm not expecting employees of a bagel shop to jump for joy or anything, but the complete lack of interest from the employees when I expressed a concern about an admitted problem on their end will probably keep me from coming back again. read more

I had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich on a bacon cheese bagel and it was soo good. First off the amount of bacon on this bagel is very generous to say the least. "There's too much bacon on this" said nobody ever, lol. I wish I took a picture of the sandwiches middle because it really would've shown how much bacon was on there, was thick. They also cut the bagel sandwich in half and which makes it easy to eat. I also had half of my mother in laws cream cheese garlic bagel and absolutely delicious. Very garlicky but not over powerful. If they say it has garlic or bacon they mean it. Great job guys! Also staff was very friendly, I can't wait to try their pizza place next door. read more

How's this for lame justification of not allowing Servers to receive tips.?? This is an excerpt from a Post by the owner of the Riverwalk Coffee Roaster website: "research shows 'specific types' of people get tipped more than others." Research also shows owners who don't allow employees to benefit from the same system that gave them tax-free money have high turnover, higher new training labor costs, and lower customer satisfaction. Ultimately, research also shows low customer satisfaction creates bad reviews which keep people away and result in business closures. When employee say, "we're not allowed to accept tips." are they threatened if they accept them they'll be fired ? The owers reply to similar complaints about not allowing tips was the owners "pay a livable wage" So all your employees get all the hours they want, with healthcare benefits, paid time off and matching 401K contributions ? I'm biased as I am from Brooklyn and would rate the bagels as so-so. That said, it's okay, I appreciate that the food here is locally sourced (big fan of that whenever possible). The coffee is good, my daughter noted the hot cocoa was really good... It did the job we needed. Cute little bagel shop located in the heart of downtown Oswego, the bagels are amazing, light crisp crust on the exterior with superior soft chewy interior, they have their bagel game figured out. I've been a couple times if your looking for sweet I'd recommend the French toast bagel with honey butter, it's like a dessert for breakfast. If your looking for savory the spicy everything hits the spot and is something you don't see too often and makes for a great breakfast sandwich. Oh and let me say I am not a fan of cream cheese normally, however I tried their garlic cream cheese and it is the bomb, the flavor explodes in your mouth and is everything you want if you love garlic. read more

I paid $8 for this sandwich and it's disappointing to not get what I paid for. The bagels are great but I don't want to pay for a sandwich that's not worth it. Had the opportunity to visit this new establishment 2 times this week. Overall, great bagels and beautiful set-up. Substantial improvement over every bagel offering in Oswego, NY. Bagels were fresh, right level of chewiness, and good variety of choices were available. Spicy Everything was one of our favorites along with the Cinnamon Raisin. Plain bagel needed a pitch more salt. Staff was pleasant and working hard to deliver a high level of service. Still a few opening week issues but overall great service. One negative was an upcharge for certain bagels. Not a fan of everything having a "premium" choice. Will definitely return! read more

NYC resident, occasional visitor to Oswego here. I wish I could pick up this bagel shop and take it to NYC with me and plant it a mile from my apartment (just so I'd have to walk off the bagels I'd be scarfing down every day). Seriously, the bagels are a sesame's breadth away from perfection. But what I really loved was the creative selection. A spicy everything bagel - how come that never occurred to any of the story old bagel bakeries in NYC? The white sesame / black sesame bagel was a playful riff on the black & white cookie. The cinnamon raisin bagels had raisins in every bite. The French toast bagel (really more of a cinnamon glaze bagel) toasted with cream cheese was pure, chewy heaven, with just the right touch of sweetness. The condiment station was spotless and everything looked fresh - no moldering mounds of schmear in this shop. I also loved the inviting, bright interior (another thing you'll never see in an NYC bagel shop). Only one thing: the crust on the regular bagel was a tad too chewy. The fluffy interior was blissful though. Owner should consider opening an NYC branch - the line would stretch around the block. read more
