I'm definitely upgrading my prior review as I have visited several times over the years. As many other places have struggled Arties Diner continues to shine. Their staff are hard workers and work quickly to serve their customers. Arthur and Maria the owners are invested in not only working alongside their staff but also making improvements to the diner itself. I love this place for breakfast but they also are great for lunch as well. Although they are located on the main drag there is parking in the rear of the restaurant and accessible for back as well. Great place! It was a DINER! Loved it! We stopped by trying to find something to eat in this area. But had a hard time. This place was closing in 30 minutes but had no problem serving us. It was no frills and straightforward forward and I loved that. The waitresses greeted us all with smiles. We were told to sit where we liked, so we chose a booth. We were waited on right away. I love the small-town vibe here. From the talk behind the counter, it sounded like the waitresses have been working here a long time, and they were quick and kind. The place is a bit dated, and there's lots of art on the walls. And the menu is simple and perfect for a diner. I ordered a tuna melt with chips. The chips must have been made in-house, they were delicious! The tuna melt was marvelous as well. I had not had one in so long, and this one was perfect. Toasted and crispy on the outside, melty and yummy inside. My husband had a pastrami on rye, which was also awesome. Warm sandwiches on a cold day were perfect. I'm giving them a 3 star because the food was good. It's a hometown diner, and you could tell we weren't from the hometown. The waitress, who seemed to maybe be in charge, was a HUGE B! Very rude. I asked for only turkey sausage with my meal, she even clarified that with me, saying "you only want turkey sausage because it comes with more" I said yes only a turkey sausage. Plate comes out and there's bacon on it, I pick it up and ask why is there bacon, I don't eat pork, her response "It comes with it" sucks her teeth, and walks away. We asked for onions and peppers to be added to my hubs meal and she said "they won't do that, it's too busy" Now we were sitting at the counter, the women walked past us numerous times, yet I had to ask for drink refills. We stopped in for breakfast on our way through New York, and after reading reviews of a not so nice waitress we were thrilled to have a bubbly, cheerful "Marylyn" greet and serve us. Very attentive and asked extra questions so we got just what we might want. Loved her! Food was simple diner fare, well prepared and extremely affordable. Diner is clean and pleasant....and you can even look straight into the kitchen to a well kept and clean galley . This is a cute little diner. Arties definitely has that hometown feel. It offers booths and tables. The staff is very friendly. We went for breakfast and were not disappointed. There is quite a big breakfast menu, including pancakes, omelets and jalapeño bacon. My husband and I both had "Sammy's Homerun". It included two eggs, sausage links, bacon, home fries, and toast. The homemade white toast was good. The prices were reasonable, especially given the fact that it is salmon season. The place was packed. People were waiting for seats. What a cute little place with great service. I didn't know what to expect since it looks unassuming from the main street. I can only speak for the lunch. I have came here once for dine in lunch and twice for pick up. Both times were very fast and prompt in service. I have so far tried their farmhouse sandwich and fish sandwich. Both were very tasty. The farmhouse sandwich is a special only on certain days so make sure to look at the boards to see the daily specials. I would have to say the portions are quite large so make sure you come hungry. GreaT stop for lunch on our way to Alex Bay. Husband had the meat loaf special, mom had the cheddar broccoli soup. I had the egg salad sandwich. Only complaint was the amount of mayo on my egg salad. It was not only mixed in with the egg; it was slathered on my toast and gushed out of the sandwich. (UGH!) Also served with the sandwich was a pickle spear and home made potato chips. Prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly, and it would've been nice if our server checked on us to see if we needed refills, dessert, etc... Came here with my family and a few friends and girlfriend to see family and do some sight seeing. Pulaski is a place that use visit fairly often when grandparents lived up here, plus I had a few classes here. My older told me about this diner, so I went to check it out. First time I got the orange glazed fish fillet with onion rings. Onion rings where pretty good. The fillet, however, wasn't so great. It lacked the flavor pop I was expecting. It was kind of small to. Came back up here today with the family and got a bacon cheese burger with fries. The burger was great! I wouldn't suggest getting it cooked more than medium-well or the patty will be a bit dry. The fries are the best fries I have ever had! Great flavor, perfect crispy outside! Perhaps the birthplace of the diner waitress stereotype. The staff is openly impatient and annoyed. The cooks do not wear hair nets, which was very evident when we got our meal. We didn't even bother bringing it to the attention of our waitress, who was unpleasant enough when things were going well. Plastered around the menu are notations; rules for extra charges. Additional fees, limitations, etc. I understand the potential abuse of free refills, but what are they saving by actively enforcing the one-refill limit on every guest? A 25 cent fee for a to-go order? You'll feel more like an unwanted dinner guest than a valued customer. Very seldom do I have a problem with the restaurants I patronize. But here, I walked in with low enough expectations, and still walked out just violated. How could a place like this possibly stay in business? It's been roughly 12 hours since our visit, and we haven't had an appetite all day. Which really says a lot for the meager servings we received. Do yourself a favor. Turn around, walk across the street. Buy a can of ravioli from the Byrne Dairy. Smash it open with your face, and sip it cold. You'll still thank me. read more
