I stopped in and had the 'Roker'. I can see (or taste!) why Al fancied it. It was on a very soft roll with a nice chew. Crust did not shatter into a thousand shards! I feel there was a bountiful quantity of meats along with firm-fresh lettuce and vegetables. Sauce was delightful and not overly applied. Overall, it filled my tummy and was quite yummy! read more

Love the subs, but have to say this ...I ordered online, paid for it, and drove to pick it up, I walk in, 2 boys working the front, neither one acknowledged me, walked by me like I wasn't there, went and stood by girl making subs, I finally spoke up and said," I'm here to pick up an order, so he walks over, says, "name"? And sure enough, my order was sitting there ready, and already paid for, so he just had to hand it to me,. I found it incredibly rude and dismissive like I didn't matter. I've been going there since Pops and Bill, this NEVER would have happened. Entitled kids! read more

Steak sub is awful. It's not real steak, 20 dollars for ground meat. Staff was friendly but that was the worse steak sub I ever had. Jersey mikes is better. read more

Went here based on recommendation of their cheeseburger sub. It was more like ground beef sub but tasted fine. Service was friendly and quite rapid. They could use better parking and a bit more space but we'd go back when in the area again. read more

Ordered takeout for dinner- my partner recommended it. The place is cool is hell. Big college vibes. I like that. Ordered a club wrap. Thing tasted like a club sandwich which was what I wanted so I was a happy camper. I'd eat it again tomorrow if I wanted a club sandwich. Staff was college kids who looked they wanted to be somewhere else and I don't blame them because if I was 21 and beautiful I'd wanna be somewhere else too. 5/5 would recommend if you want a club sandwich flavored wrap and college vibes. read more

My whole life this has been a staple stop! It is a bit closer to the SUNY campus so college students get addicted as well as townies as this Family Owned friendly service and generational ambiance gives it a homey feel with mainly takeout, or delivery- but a couple tables- I went to school with the youngest son, a sweetheart. Family @ xmas ordered meatball subs, turkey, etc but in town chessbuger is Always "cheese burg". There is a Very good Cheesburg sub there! They also have big names of college grads a sub calked "The Al Roker, The Steve Levy, & The Linda Cohen... i have met the two men years ago working for college- nice as well as Al's wife Debra Roberts - who was delightful... off topic. Love the sub shop subs and the Greene Family! read more

This was my 3rd visit Sunday July 13th and I walked away wondering "Where did the beef go?" I ordered a roast beef sub the rest of my 4 person party made their orders and everyone felt the same way. My sub which consisted of 4 slices of roast beef, copious amounts of lettuce and two, two slices of tomato. Did not warrant a $20.00 price tag. Past visits for the same sub left me full after the first half with lunch waiting in the fridge the next day. Something changed and not for the better. Even the best Mac salad I've ever had wouldn't make me stop again. I spoke to a friend who was there the same weekend for a softball tournament and he felt the same way about his club. This use to be a sandwich meca now it's a drive by. read more

I was looking forward to having a good roast beef sub. I ended up disappointed. I don't think the sub could have been any worse than it was. I was impressed with how fast they had it ready but soon found out they have no pride in the food they put out. The sub roll was not even big enough to hold the ingredients. I didn't even get everything on it and most of the ingredients were basically thrown on top of the roll and not even in it. It was so soggy, lacked any flavor and the lettuce didn't appear fresh and crispy. The lettuce was actually soggy and limp. It was not enjoyable to eat and very dissatisfying. I felt like I wasted my money. I don't know if I'll go back. read more

My wife and I were out for a ride and happened to find O.S.S and decided to try it for lunch, I'm glad we did. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly and happy to answer questions from us newbies. O.S.S has an extensive menu consisting of sandwiches, soups, wings, salads, chips, drinks and more. We ordered a roast beef sub, a turkey sub and an antipasto. Everything we had was fresh and tasty and was prepared rather quickly considering how busy they were. They have indoor and outdoor seating and also do carryout. All in all it was a great experience at Oswego Sub Shop and I look forward to returning. I highly recommend giving these folks a try! read more

Pretty bad. I ordered for the first time and it was terrible. The bread is shi*ty in plain English. I got a burger and it was just a bunch of slop on a bun, couldn't eat it. Also, everyone in there is pretty rude. It's subway but at a higher price point read more

Cashier was rude. Sub was bland. Bread was flavorless. Italian soup was about as good as progresso.

Sorry, no pictures! Subshop was a staple for me when I was going to school in Oswego. Subs have always been fresh and delicious, and at a very fair price. My go to was always a half Turkey with the works minus onion. "The Works" included Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Provolone Cheese, OSS Recipe Oil, Hot Pepper Sauce, Oregano and Parmesan Cheese. It's just a wonderful marriage of flavors in your mouth...trust me on this. Subshop is a great staple in Oswego. Very highly recommended! read more

It was fine. The sandwich was fine. Service was excellent and the cost wasn't exorbitant. The shop was retro-cute.

Worst I've had by far. Rude service, took hours to deliver, food was horrible. Even smelled bad. Made my stomach turn and now feel sick. Wouldn't order here again. read more

Great fresh food!! Delicious! Will def go back! Large menu to choose from! Been there a couple times, will def go back!

Started by the Greene family over 50 years ago, the Oswego Sub Shop is a staple in the city of Oswego. The shop has always been a family affair, stretching back 3 generations. The menu has expanded significantly since they started, and the shop prides itself on slicing their meats and chopping their veggies fresh daily. While I've lived in upstate NY almost all of my life, I've never spent much time in Oswego, but the sub shop has been highly touted by some friends. The wife and I happened to find ourselves out that way today, so I figured we'd take the opportunity to try it. The wife chose the chicken Erik Cole Special while I went with the Buffalo Wing and Bleu. Took about 20 minutes before it was ready, though there only seemed to be another customer or two through the doors while I was there. There were at least 6 employees there and none of them were very welcoming or friendly, but they weren't rude or anything either. We got our food and headed home. The prices are a bit higher, but the subs are a decent size for sure. My wife really liked hers, but I was pretty disappointed in mine. It was absolutely DRENCHED in bleu cheese. Just swimming in it. Totally unnecessary amount. So much so, I literally took the entire sub apart and used a paper towel to wipe it down, but there was so much on it that the roll had become soggy and fell apart and most went in the trash, as I couldn't really re-assemble it. If it weren't for that, it would've been a decent sub, but it really just wasn't a very good first experience with them. While I've been told they're not exactly consistent in their quality, I'd probably give them another try, but stick with what I've been told they're known for and try the cheeseburger sub instead. First visit was a definite disappointment for me. read more

classic sub shop but food good and fresh and service was very quick both for pickup and eat in.

Here for a work contract in Oswego and my bosses decided tonight to get the work crew subs for lunch and they chose to order from the establishment. I ordered the philly cheese sub with onions, mushrooms and cheddar cheese. I was very dissatisfied with what I got. I didn't get it the way I wanted it and it was nowhere near what you would get in Philadelphia. The sandwich lacked meat and also flavor. The meat was a little bland if you can call it that. The sandwich was sooooo skinny you couldn't tell if it was a cheesesteak sandwich or not. The pic posted will be proof. Honestly, I probably could have made a better philly cheese steak using cans of potted meat and high quality cheddar cheese LOL. I hope my bosses don't consider ordering from here again read more

Subs are great but the management is AWFUL. Just so rude and unprofessional. If you complain they act like you're the problem/get defensive instead of reflecting on how they could improve things in the future and use the feedback to help them. They clearly do not care about customer service. My friends who have worked for the Greenes have said the same. By reading these other awful reviews, I'm not surprised. I appreciate great food from GREAT people who run the business. read more

Service is absolutely abysmal when it comes to delivery. While I enjoy the food, I will no longer be ordering food from the Oswego Sub Shop. I have had some long wait times from them in the past, but today's 2 1/2 hour wait seemed to be my final straw. A wait time that exceeds their 1 hr wait time call service seems to be the norm, not the exemption, and wait times continue to get longer and longer. new sub place for me from now on, and I will be reccomending my friends, family, and associates go elsewhere. read more

Place does a lot of business, and they do deliver. I've tried this place a handful of times, and was not overly impressed. Their sandwiches were good, but I felt they were priced a bit on the high side for what you get. They do have a big menu - something for everyone. BUT: chicken wings were not crispy, fries were good, but you don't get much for the price. Sub rolls are decent, but don't make up for the price of the sandwich. Like I said, I tried this place a few times, and guess I expected more "wow" for a local restaurant... read more

Always great to come back home and stop by here. One of the best subs in the country.

I've been going to this sub shop all of my life. I've always loved the julienne salad and almost never get anything else. I missed it when it was crowded and rough (it felt more homey) but the renovation they did was a good idea as it improved efficiency. read more

Y'all need to 86 the "chicken parmesan panini." It's chicken tenders on bread with a sauce that I can only describe as ketchup with a minimal unmelted slice of mozerella, and then I guess it's toasted, but not on panini bread. It was terrible. read more

Being a New York City chick, you hear sub shop and you're like "Okay it'll be like going to get subway." Oh no. I couldn't have been any more wrong. The Oswego Sub Shop is the holy grail of subs. Al Roker has even made an appearance here and has a sub named after him since he did go to Oswego State University. This place is well known to all the college kids since it's located in a college town. Anytime I'm in Oswego this place is a must-stop to get a cheeseburger sub foot-long with the works. Packed with flavorful ground beef, melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, hot peppers, mayo, and Parmesan cheese (ketchup upon request). Now that's the works! As you bite down into the soft hero bread your taste buds will go nuts for the yummy goodness of the ground beef and all its tops. It's mouth warming good. It's literally sub heaven! I have never had another sub like this and don't believe I ever will. The customer service has always been friendly anytime I've been here. It's always been busy but they're very efficient in getting the orders together for their walk in customers. They also have daily soup specials, a variety of salads, and tasty Buffalo wings. read more

If there's one thing I desperately miss about my college town it is Sub Shop. The place delivers and is open til 3 am. They seriously have the best subs I've ever had. The buffalo chicken sub is probably the most popular. It is REALLY hot and really delicious. The bleu cheese is the best bleu cheese I have ever had. Get it with the works, onions, peppers, lettuce, tomato, mayo, hot sauce, is your mouth watering yet? They offer whole wheat subs which is awesome and they let you swap out grilled chicken. The meat here tastes way better than Subway and is a lot more fresh believe it or not. People think sub shop is just a place for late night junk food but I have gone here and eaten heathy; whole wheat sub, grilled chicken, mustard, greens, there ya go. There chili is perfect and you can't pass up on their fries. Almost forgot about their cheeseburger sub. Or you can make it a bacon cheeseburger sub. Dangerous, but SOOOOO delicious. read more

Hmmm, definitely wouldn't say this place has the " best subs." Honestly in my book, it's really hard to mess up a sub sandwich. I LOVE sandwiches man and for me it's all about the quality of the meat. This place is okay. The roast beef is wicked dry, mayo and/or oil doesn't save this sandwich. The chicken cutlet? Pretty darn delicious. As with most places, it all depends on how you like your sandwiches. Love mayo? This is the place for you, skip the "extra mayo." It would probably be too much. The reason why I gave this place 4 stars was because of the one sandwich most people can agree on and that's the Cheeseburger sub. My all time favorite sub in the entire world is this delicious, fatty, sloppy sandwich. No place has ever come close to making a cheeseburger sub as delicious as these guys. They've seemed to have mastered what a quality cheesburger is all about. Most places cook up the patty, cut it in half and place the half pieces of meat on your bread to make their cheeseburger subs. This place uses ground meat. What IS that reddish sauce they use? Whatever the ingredients, I get the works and I'm in heaven. Great for all those drunk college kids, as it is open way late and on the way back to campus. As a side note, the last time I went I paid almost $9 for my whole sub, about $11 or so with a drink. A little pricey, but for this sandwich, it's totally worth it. Can't wait to have another and then take one to go!! read more

Seems to be a little bit hit or miss. The first time eating here was fantastic! I highly recomended it to others. The second time was extreamly disappointing. It just seemed to be missing something...like maybe flavor. The onion buns were a soggy rye (and not being a big fan of rye) I had to scrape off the caraway seeds. One sandwich was big and fat and the other was sad flat. Hopefully the third time will win me over again. read more

I do love the cheeseburger sub. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it just tastes amazing. It's just like it says, it is cheeseburger morphed into a sub sandwich. The bread is light but still has body to it. The people here are friendly, the service is fast and the prices are low. Great Value here. I would drive half a day to eat one of these subs! read more

It's ok. They're known for their cheeseburger sub. The meat is sort of kind of ground meat, sort of kind of a patty? Like a mix I guess. Kind of odd having a burger in a sub sandwich. Didn't wow me. Also got chili cheese fries which wasn't on the menu but asked if it can be made. Not bad, chili had a bit of a sweet taste to it. But definitely not a chili cheese fries that's served in Cali. Extensive menu, so lots of options. All in all, just ok. read more

If I could give 0 stars right now I would. The subs aren't bad but I waited for 3 hours for my food to show up and they wouldn't give me a refund. The subs were soggy and squished by the time they got here and we weren't even hungry anymore. I'll probably get Wonzones next time. read more
