    Fresh fruits that aren't apples
    Danielle S.

I happened upon this orchard as I was doing a delivery in this town and I'm so glad I did. First off the store is much bigger than it looks from the outside. It took me awhile to kind of take it all in to see what they had. Fresh fruits, produce, fresh baked goods, meats, alcohol, fresh fruit juices, candies, and more apples than you know the names for! There is something for everyone here. I had a wonderful lady check me out and I said it was my first time there and she gave me the whole backstory of the place. Any establishment that has been in operation for 60 years (I believe she said) is doing something right in my book!

I often stop here for a coffee and a muffin while traveling, but it's also a great place to stock up on staples. They stock seasonal produce (they have tons of NYS apples right now), as well as milk, apple cider, jam, beer, spices, and gardening needs. Their bagged snack area is diverse and affordable, with pretzels, candy, trail mix and more. They also have a large selection of baked goods. One of the best stocked farm markets I've been to.

Fresh food for any appetite. They have it all here. Fresh food to fresh baked goods. I come here whenever I get a chance. This place sells fruits, nuts, pies, pastries and other grocery store items. They have something different for every season. The employees are always friendly and helpful. They will take orders over the phone and prepare them for you. The employees are always smiling. This is the only place I've found that makes a BlackBerry pie. This pie comes in two sizes. I always get the big one. The pie is sooo tasty. The best BlackBerry pie I've ever had. They do not use preservatives so it's so fresh tasting. They must be refrigerated and dont hold as long as a grocery store pie, but that's ok because it taste so great it doesn't take long to finish. I love this place. I will always come back to this place. Try some of the biggest cinnamon buns or halfmoon cookies.

I LOVE this place! The muffins (many have a cream cheese filling that is to-die-for amazing) are out of this world! So much so that I'm not even sure how much they cost because I literally don't care. Priority is buy-eat. I ordered several dozen for our dessert style wedding reception several years ago and STILL have friends and family request we bring them to events- THAT GOOD. Personally, I love the banana chocolate chip or double chocolate with cream cheese filling. Of course, they have the usual- baked pies, breads, cider, great prices on seasonal fruits, veggies, flowers...... Deni says: Buy the muffins!

Kenneth Datthyn Farms - Cheapest fruit on the ROC market at Datthyns. I was always the cheapest rent boy on the meat market, too, ironically.

Guys just want apples from Kenneth Datthyn Farms in Sodus. I'm not surprised. They're good and extraordinarily cheap! If you don't know Sodus, it means salt in Aramaic. True story. Sort of. It's a lakeside town somewhere between SYR and ROC. I came across Datthyn at the Rochester Market which is only on Tue, Thu and Sat til just after lunch time. He had a massive array of fresh fruits and a very long... long... long stall. :) I could not believe the prices! $1 for about 7 or 8 apples? Are you serious? I was very impressed to say the least. Awesomeness. They weren't the best or juiciest apples I ever had, but they were tasty and worked perfectly for my fruit drinks. They are literally *one quarter* the price of the apples at Wegmans and Tops and such. One dollar... that's about 12 cents per apple, or something ridiculous like that. You will not get a better deal on apples than this. They had a lot of great deals on a lot of fruits and veggies but none as remarkable as these fire-sale apples. Amazing. I went to most of the fruit stands on this market and didn't find anything else quite as shockinly cheap as Datthyn. So I highly recommend them for massive savings and good products. Now I'll leave you with a former Fu-Gee. Although as Tom Petty so eloquently told us, you don't have to live like a Fu-Gee. Our kids' ages ranged from 4-8. We bought tickets at the booth and let our kids pick 3 activities each. They all stuck together and picked: bounce house, zip line and, haunted play area (can't remember what it was called). There were quite a few other activities we didn't do. Not too many people made it enjoyable and the kids basically were able to stay in the bounce house as long as they liked. The zip line was a first for my kids and it was really cool. Was nervous about them hanging on, but my 4 year old and 7 year old did it. That event went quickly with 1 ride. Another go, and it would have cost us more tickets. And they wanted to go again, but off to the last activity we went. This area allowed many kids to run around, climb structures, go down slides, hide, etc. They spent quite a bit of time in this area running around, splitting in 2 groups, hiding from each other, etc. Tractor ride to the apple trees was fun. Prices were reasonable and better than some other orchards. Honey crisp $2/lb and all others 1.20/lb. A porta potty by the tractor drop off was appreciated, as of course, my son had to go in the middle of apple picking! The food place had a larger than expected menu. Food was pretty good. We were all hungry by then! Great experience and I'd love to go back!
