This aged beef they showcase in the windows called us in. They offer specials. But we went with the dry aged T-bone. Then they have you walk back there and pick the very one you want. The presentation was beautiful. It was a 2.5 lb of meat! Because it wasn't cut even thickness all the way across it was more done on one side than the other. Which was fine for us. I loved this place so much that my friend and I came here twice during our 24 hours in Florence! All the pasta (especially with seafood) and pizza dishes were incredible and the staff was lovely - they actually remembered us from the night before. They even brought out complementary bruschetta to accompany our Aperol Spritz drinks. At dinner, the table next to us ordered the signature T-bone and was unable to finish, so they let me try their leftovers. Let me tell you, that was absolutely delicious. This place is recommended to us by a local, we had a very pleasant dinner here. Delicious Italian food for very good price. We were a little concerned when we saw the bad reviews from Yelp but it turned out to be unnecessary. Here's what we learned 1) Splitting fee: we confirmed that this 1.5€ charge ONLY applies if you have more than two people AND order a single dish (honestly, it's unrealistic to expect spend less than 10€ in a sit down restaurant with service in a tourist area) 2) Other charges: there's a fixed 2€ "cover charge" regardless of number of people in your table. To me this is much better than being charged for bread per person basis in many restaurant in Italy. 3) Like many restaurant, there's No tap water 4) Generally speaking, the price of each dish is on par or about 1€ cheaper than other comparable restaurants. Enough about price. Food is pretty good, carbonara is flavorful and smooth, fresh made paste has a good texture and lamp chop also grilled well. Overall, recommended! read more

We sat in the back room near the wood oven. It was so much better than expected. They accommodated 10 people and the food was wonderful! Even the gluten-free pasta was great. They were very accommodating for my wife's gluten allergy. The meat was a little more on the rare side than expected. My wife does not like any red and when she saw her concern they said "not a problem" and quickly cooked it more. Medium-well is more a medium-rare so just plan accordingly. We were on vacation and heard that the T-bone steak is a must try in Florence, so when we saw the steaks hanging inside their display case we decided to check it out. Like a responsible Yelper, I of course read the other yelp reviews and noted others' bad experience of feeling that they were lied to about the price of the steak. So, before we walked in, we asked if there was a required minimal weight if we get the T-bone steak, and the waitress said 700g. The cost was 4 euros per 100g so we thought it was reasonable, and decided to have dinner there. It was relatively late, so we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. The waitress was very attentive and helpful, but there was a strange guy in the corner who was staring at us the entire time. Very unsettling. We ordered a pasta dish (porcini risotto) to share, which was very cheap and quite tasty. The steak, was a different story. We told the waitress that we would like to try 700g, and she said that's very small and not enough for two people. So we said we will get 1000g, and she said ok. Being extra cautious, I asked "are you actually able to do a 1000g piece?" She hesitated and said, "well... all the steaks are pre-cut, but we can get you the closest one we have." Ok, that sounds reasonable, so we ordered it. Of course, when the steak came out, it was huge, so I asked "how big is this steak?" She hesitated, looked guilty, then said "...1350g." Really??? We were on vacation and not in the mood to be confrontational, but I knew then they were planning to do this all along. To be fair the steak was good and we enjoyed it, so I think the overall dining experience deserves some stars. However, the creepy guy staring at us in the corner and the shady business dealing of lying to customers/tourists are really unprofessional. Good food. Great atmosphere. Convenient location. We tried the osso bucco, tortellini con panna, and 3 cheese cakes (1 with chocolate, another with a berry sauce, and one plain). Cheesecake was waiter's recommendation. It was so good that's why we ordered a third. The cream sauce for the tortellini was delicious. The waiters were friendly, but for a large restaurant it appeared they only had one waiter per shift doing everything. We were in between shifts. We started with one and finished dinner with another waiter. Both very professional and friendly but the change in shifts and only one waiter on staff made for a long dinner. It wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't have a train to catch. Yes, there was a cover charge (it was written right on the menu), but we found that doesn't appear to be unusual for lots of restaurants in tourists areas of Italy (restaurants in the Prati and Trastevere areas of Rome did the same). A couple we dined next to at another restaurant in Rome told us it's basically the same as tacking on the tip. Whether it goes back to the wait staff or not they choose not to tip if charged cover. If the wait staff was very good and the cover was less than 20 percent of the bill, you might consider at least tipping the difference. It's hard to punish the wait staff for the policy of the restaurant. Points off for not having more staff and although the cheesecake was delicious and food good, I don't think it was out of this world. If we lived here we might dine here again but it wouldn't be our "must go to" restaurant. read more

Honestly, we went in here because they had gluten free options. I ended up ordering a grilled vegetable salad and French fries. The service was slow, the server forgot my fries and when I finally got them I asked for ketchup, the server forgot that again. The salad was bland. My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant for the 40 euro deal on the bistecca florentina for two. We both really enjoyed it! We didn't get charged extra fees like the other reviews stated. There is a 2 euro charge per person but that's almost everywhere here. The food was amazing and the waiters were super nice. There are reasons that "tourist restaurants" exist... They are close to attractions. After walking through museums all morning the thought of walking far enough from the tourist area to get a meal wasn't appealing enough to keep me out of a one star (only one review) restaurant. The food was very average, the service was slightly better. You really can't screw up pizza in Italy and they didn't. I can say about cross contamination since that is not a big issue for me, but if it is for you, I doubt you would be eating much in an Italian restaurant to begin with. This is a trap. We were walking by and the waitress asked us if we would like to come in. We told her we were only thinking about a drink and maybe a snack. We ended up getting a bottle of wine and a margarita pizza. Both decent but nothing that would have you returning. The wine was about 16.80 euros, the pizza was 5.50 euros but also added to the bill was a cover charge of 4 euros and a 1.50 euro split charge. In Italy, I've sometimes encountered cover charges to help cover the cost of the bread they bring you but we definitely were not offered anything beyond what we ordered. I'm still not sure what they did to help us split the pizza either. It came on one plate and we helped ourselves to the slices of pizza. When I asked the waitress about it and objected to the extra charges, she just shrugged and apologized before swiping my credit card for full amount while standing right next to me. Florence is full of great places to eat so I definitely suggest you just SKIP this one. Not worth the cover charge. read more

My husband and I both ordered pasta dishes. I ordered gluten free "pici vegetariani" and husband got the normal "tagliatelle allá bolognese". Both were extremely disappointing dishes. My pasta had no sauce- just plain steamed vegetable juice from the zucchini and bell pepper that tasted as though they had been cooked to death, and with no seasoning whatsoever. The pasta, gluten free, tasted stale and it was obviously from a pre-packaged box. Husband's "bolognese" tasted like canned tomato sauce that had been thrown onto some meat 5 minutes previously, the flavors feeling separate and plain (no herbs, salt, pepper, anything...). The portions were meek for the high price and the service was lacking- waiter made me feel uncomfortable since he was asking questions about my husbands order and still looking at me as though I should answer. Also the waiters stood in the middle of the restaurant and were talking about dating and girls loudly, no manager in sight for our entire meal. On top of everything, had to wait for over 10 minutes for the check, and ask over and over again. Restaurant looks dusty and unkept. Very very disappointing- avoid at all costs!
