    T-bone
    Adina S.

I loved this place so much that my friend and I came here twice during our 24 hours in Florence! All the pasta (especially with seafood) and pizza dishes were incredible and the staff was lovely - they actually remembered us from the night before. They even brought out complementary bruschetta to accompany our Aperol Spritz drinks. At dinner, the table next to us ordered the signature T-bone and was unable to finish, so they let me try their leftovers. Let me tell you, that was absolutely delicious. That steak was truly drool-worthy. Sadly the friend I was joined by is vegetarian, otherwise the T-bone for 2 is a great deal and comes with various sides. I'll be dreaming about this place. Don't forget to grab gelato at one of the nearby shops afterwards.

Amazing steak -- Bistecca Fiorentina -- and pasta, perfectly prepared and presented. I was dreaming about this meal for 2 months and searching for just the right spot. Right around the corner from the Uffizzi Gallery, we found it.

While in Rome we ran into a couple that had eaten here. They recommended this restaurant and I am so glad they did. This was a great place for a steak and wine. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. If you are ever in Florence and looking for a good meal check this place out!

    Antipasto (Bruchetta w/ Tripe/ Artichoke/ and Tomatos)!

Amazing food and quick service!! Came for the steak, but will be back for the Penna Cotta!! This dessert changed my expectations for dessert!! The seaj and potatos were good, but I found the medium steak a bit to rare for my liking. Despite this oversight, my meal was great and I will be back when I'm back in the area! Thanks, Amir for your speedy service.

This place is recommended to us by a local, we had a very pleasant dinner here. Delicious Italian food for very good price. We were a little concerned when we saw the bad reviews from Yelp but it turned out to be unnecessary. Here's what we learned 1) Splitting fee: we confirmed that this 1.5€ charge ONLY applies if you have more than two people AND order a single dish (honestly, it's unrealistic to expect spend less than 10€ in a sit down restaurant with service in a tourist area) 2) Other charges: there's a fixed 2€ "cover charge" regardless of number of people in your table. To me this is much better than being charged for bread per person basis in many restaurant in Italy. 3) Like many restaurant, there's No tap water 4) Generally speaking, the price of each dish is on par or about 1€ cheaper than other comparable restaurants. Enough about price. Food is pretty good, carbonara is flavorful and smooth, fresh made paste has a good texture and lamp chop also grilled well. Overall, recommended!

We sat in the back room near the wood oven. It was so much better than expected. They accommodated 10 people and the food was wonderful! Even the gluten-free pasta was great. They were very accommodating for my wife's gluten allergy. The meat was a little more on the rare side than expected. My wife does not like any red and when she saw her concern they said "not a problem" and quickly cooked it more. Medium-well is more a medium-rare so just plan accordingly. The smoke flavor was incredible. All 10 people were impressed by the food and the service.

Mamma Mia Why would you order anything here other than the gorgeous, aged T-bone steaks sitting in front? We ordered a 2.3 kg T-bone steak. Came with potatoes. It was one of the best steaks we have ever eaten. The service was very good. Don't leave Florence without trying the beef or bistecca fiorencia. Wow!!

1350g of T-bone steak. More than we asked for, and we were charged for the extra weight... but the steak was good.

We were on vacation and heard that the T-bone steak is a must try in Florence, so when we saw the steaks hanging inside their display case we decided to check it out. Like a responsible Yelper, I of course read the other yelp reviews and noted others' bad experience of feeling that they were lied to about the price of the steak. So, before we walked in, we asked if there was a required minimal weight if we get the T-bone steak, and the waitress said 700g. The cost was 4 euros per 100g so we thought it was reasonable, and decided to have dinner there. It was relatively late, so we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. The waitress was very attentive and helpful, but there was a strange guy in the corner who was staring at us the entire time. Very unsettling. We ordered a pasta dish (porcini risotto) to share, which was very cheap and quite tasty. The steak, was a different story. We told the waitress that we would like to try 700g, and she said that's very small and not enough for two people. So we said we will get 1000g, and she said ok. Being extra cautious, I asked "are you actually able to do a 1000g piece?" She hesitated and said, "well... all the steaks are pre-cut, but we can get you the closest one we have." Ok, that sounds reasonable, so we ordered it. Of course, when the steak came out, it was huge, so I asked "how big is this steak?" She hesitated, looked guilty, then said "...1350g." Really??? We were on vacation and not in the mood to be confrontational, but I knew then they were planning to do this all along. To be fair the steak was good and we enjoyed it, so I think the overall dining experience deserves some stars. However, the creepy guy staring at us in the corner and the shady business dealing of lying to customers/tourists are really unprofessional. I hope the extra 14 euro they got from us was worth losing their reputations for.

    Cheesecake with chocolate sauce

Good food. Great atmosphere. Convenient location. We tried the osso bucco, tortellini con panna, and 3 cheese cakes (1 with chocolate, another with a berry sauce, and one plain). Cheesecake was waiter's recommendation. It was so good that's why we ordered a third. The cream sauce for the tortellini was delicious. The waiters were friendly, but for a large restaurant it appeared they only had one waiter per shift doing everything. We were in between shifts. We started with one and finished dinner with another waiter. Both very professional and friendly but the change in shifts and only one waiter on staff made for a long dinner. It wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't have a train to catch. Yes, there was a cover charge (it was written right on the menu), but we found that doesn't appear to be unusual for lots of restaurants in tourists areas of Italy (restaurants in the Prati and Trastevere areas of Rome did the same). A couple we dined next to at another restaurant in Rome told us it's basically the same as tacking on the tip. Whether it goes back to the wait staff or not they choose not to tip if charged cover. If the wait staff was very good and the cover was less than 20 percent of the bill, you might consider at least tipping the difference. It's hard to punish the wait staff for the policy of the restaurant. Points off for not having more staff and although the cheesecake was delicious and food good, I don't think it was out of this world. If we lived here we might dine here again but it wouldn't be our "must go to" restaurant.

Spaghetti Carbonara with eggs and bacon.

Friendly and welcoming restaurant to enjoy some great food in Florence! Food came out hot and flavorful. Staff were more than happy to help review menu which was written in Italian. The fixed 3 course menu was way too much food. Spaghetti carbonara, followed by 3 big slices of steak with salad and French fries, and a light dolce dessert. All very good, but had to take some to go. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Tatielle with cream, sausage and truffle sauce. Best pasta you'll ever taste in your life!

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

Had we had come earlier in our stay we might have come back again They also do a wine window which I wish I'd known about earlier because the other one we tried for fun was not good

We chatted with the table next to us on the way out and met some fellow Texans! On our way out, the owner also remembered my name and started introducing me to other tables to make friends. What a fun place to be! The food was absolutely amazing. When we saw them slicing the salami right in front of us, we decided to order the salami plate and we were so glad we did! The zucchini flower and saffron pasta was bursting with flavor and the pasta was so perfectly cooked. I couldn't get enough! The duck ragu pasta was also hearty, rich, and delicious. The sauce was so good, my family soaked up every last bit with our bread. The ricotta spinach ravioli was also amazing!! Again the sauce was such a standout. The ravioli was so fresh with the perfect amount of bite. The green pepper sauce steak was soooo good. Cooked perfectly, with such a unique sauce that the whole peppercorns added perfectly to in texture and spice. Finally, the raspberry tiramisu. We were so full, but when they set these down our dessert stomachs were ready. They were amazing! Not the strongest raspberry flavor, but still such a delicious end to the meal. Side note, you MUST have a reservation to eat here, and they only take reservations by call. Because I didn't have a way to call them, I asked my Airbnb hosts who did it for me (also amazing people). While we were eating, there was a crowd forming outside of people waiting to get in but unable to. It's so worth it to visit Vini e Vecchi Sappori! I'll definitely have to come back next time I'm in Florence.

We had our hotel call for us when we checked in and were lucky to grab a 1:30 lunch slot on a Thursday afternoon. We saw the fat physical reservation book when we went, and also saw an attempted walk-in get turned away. We wanted to go for dinner, but I'm just glad we were able to get in at all. Vini e Vecchi Sapori was easily my favorite restaurant in Florence. I loved the cozy, vibrant dining room, snug and eclectically decorated. We were at a table so tiny, I worried about pulling a muscle when I crossed my legs. It was nestled amongst other tiny tables, and abutted a counter where plates were put out for service and the reservation book set down in its glory next to my husband's head. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive. Our waiter basically told what to order and we obeyed him, with excellent results. The one-page handwritten menu, helpfully available in English, presented the day's offerings and this preemptive list of disclaimers: No Pizza No Cappuccino No The Fork No Ice No Spritz No Ketchup FUCK CANCER There was a brief selection of Italian wines by the glass, and we got the Chianti Classico and the Bruno de Montalcino, both lovely. The food was delicious, starting with good bread and good olive oil. We ordered the mixed Tuscany salami and the beef carpaccio as appetizers, and they were both superb and not in the least bit redundant. There were four or five types of salami, every one of them fantastic, and I loved the thin, silky carpaccio, served with rucola, parmesan, olive oil, and black pepper. We shared two splendid pastas, spinach ricotta ravioli in a creamy rose tomato sauce and a hearty pappardelle with duck ragu. For dessert, we had the lush, irresistible raspberries tiramisu. I plan to come back to Florence one day, and will make a point of coming back to Vini e Vecchi Sapori. It's a special restaurant, the kind you hope to find in Italy, a welcoming place with lively ambiance and wonderful food.

On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.
