Food was amazing and very filling. The portions are large specifically on the steak/protein…read moreoptions. Our table ordered two different steak boards. The tomahawk and flank steak. Both were served with a a mound of fresh cut potatoes, grilled vegetables and two sauces to dip into. We barely used the dips as everything was seasoned to perfection. No steak sauce needed as the steak was well seasoned and served hot. We also have a bottle of white wine and tried the lasagna for our starter. Everyone at the table was happy with this option for dinner. Also this is not fancy dinner but still dining at its fines. If you are a steak lover and in the Venice area Al Timon is a must have for dinner.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Definitely get the Lombatello steak if you are feeling carnivorous…read more Throngs of lively people sipping wine and snacking on cichetti late into the evening along the canal. The cichetti selection looked very good (variety thinned out throughout the night), but our party of 3 was starving and we opted to sit inside for a late ~8:30pm dinner. We got one order of grilled lamb and the Lombatello steak for 2. The lamb was also good, no gamey taste. The Lombatello steak was simply fantastic, choose this cut specifically!! A heaping pile of medium-rare meat (cannot buy single portions) that was very tender and flavorful. It's cushioned with steak fries and grilled veggies on the side. Paired with two glasses of house wine, this meal was fantastic. Ended up with a to go box of steak and fries. Servers are very busy, bustling around clearing tables, taking orders, etc, but they are vigilant if you need anything. We saw one table of ~10 order a steak platter, and it was a sight to behold - a massive wooden cutting board packed with steak, transported by two waiters.

We had no idea that this was a chain until later, but in retrospect, I can see the signs now…read more Regardless, this location had a lot in common with the other places we ate in Venice. The pizza here is the highlight, and indeed, it was pretty excellent, though I would say in general, we had nothing but excellent pizza while anywhere in Italy. The pasta we had was... just ok, and the very large salad we all split was really good. The best part of this place, and dining in Venice generally, is taking in all the sights and sounds while eating streetside. It's such a unique place to be, and without the sound of cars everywhere, still give you a little bit of that old world feel... speaking of Venice of course, because other than this being in an old building, everything inside Rossopomodoro was pretty modern. Sorry I don't have much more to say about the food at this place. We had a lot of memorable meals while in Italy, and this one just didn't stick out like the others, though it was perfectly fine.

The tell of how good Rossopomodora was immediately apparent when I got a text message saying my…read morecard was charged to McDonalds....yep...owned by the same folks that own the Mickey D's down the block. Really Mediocre luke warm food that was really meh. The Arancini was almost cold. Pizza was greasy and cold. Okay the Bombolina was not cold....but that's a donut...da. It was probably the best thing. Walk farther and avoid this place...there are too many places that serve better food.

The pumpkin flan was a true experience of sweet and savoriness. I couldn't stop eating the ratatouille; it was such a delicious treat. I was able to have a conversation with the chef after our meal, and she encouraged my excitement to experiment and try my hand at some of these dishes at home. I wish I lived in Venice, so I could have La Zucca regularly. They only had one reservation spot for the days we were in Venice, so I definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time.

The seating made it completely worth it, though--we were seated right by the canal water and had a gorgeous view throughout our meal! The servers were very pleasant, though navigating the menu takes a little extra effort. The menu is in Italian and changes regularly. While they do provide a translation menu, I ended up using my phone to translate most of it myself. For dietary restrictions, they do mark allergy items, though there aren't very many gluten-free options available. To drink, I ordered an Aperol Spritz. For food, I had the carrot soup and a plate of two sides: ratatouille and zucchini. The soup and the zucchini were both delicious! One of my friends ordered the linguine, but unfortunately found it to be overly salty. Overall, it's a lovely spot for a scenic lunch by the water, especially if you enjoy a lively atmosphere and don't mind navigating a changing Italian menu.
