I'd fly back to Venice for the night just to eat here. We came to dinner, wait was about an hour. The only menu option given was the steak board, the rest of the menu was not available. They do offer cichetti inside while you wait. Doesn't really matter because the steak was incredible. I didn't love Venice but I'd fly back to eat here and come right back to the US.
This place has the quintessential view and expectation of Venice. Enjoy the cicchetti outside with some wine because this place sits right along a picturesque canal. It's off the beaten path on the north side of Venice and is easily missed, but definitely seems popular enough where it gets quite busy in evening. If the small bites or tapas type fare isn't what you're looking for and you want something different from the seafood in Venice, they definitely have the best steak in town that's on par with the steakhouses in Florence. They carry the Florentine style steaks as well as Picanha. Steaks are cooked rare here, but don't let that scare you if you usually have your beef more well done. Even with a rarer cook on the steaks, they are absolutely amazing. We opted for the Lombatello Meat board with vegetables and hand cut fries. Lombatello Meat Board - This meat board is absolutely amazing. More than enough food for 4 people to share and enjoy some wine along the canal. The cuts of meat are roughly just over a kilogram. The steaks here with sides are more affordable than similar Florentine steakhouses in Tuscany. The vegetables were simply seasoned and tasted amazing. Potatoes were hand cut and fried to where the exterior was crisp and the insides were soft. The star of the show was definitely the beef. Heavy on the beef flavor and was tender to where the meat had just enough chew, but still came apart fairly easily. The flavors of the food here was excellent and the service was attentive. The location is far enough from the main streets where you can avoid too many passers by. Excellent place to enjoy a solid steak or cicchetti and take in the a view of the Venetian canal.
Great atmosphere and fun restaurant. Canal side seating and interior seating. This is a Steak house! Great wine selection. We ordered the gnocchi with Gorgonzola and beet sauce. Super rich and creamy. Was amazing in presentation and taste. The sauce looks white on top and has the purple beet reduction below. It's amazing! The steak was presented well although we wished they asked us how done we wanted it. It was amazing if you like a rare cut. Super presentation and hefty portions. Bring your buddies or a serious appetite if you want to conquer this dish. Overall a great experience, minus the local mosquito population.
The location is by the water. The place is packed since the time they open! Make sure to grab a table as soon as it's available! The restaurant runs by 2 brothers and sister so very family oriented. The steak came out perfect! It came with fresh made spicy vegetable sauce and grilled eggplants and peppers. Fresh cut fried potatoes. Pineapple to clean the pallet ( wish it's grilled too ) . It was 1.3kg of steak or about 2.9 lbs of steak and we couldn't stop eating. We thought that we would have to take some home but it was so good that we finished everything and wanted more! Definitely recommend anyone visiting Venezia to stop by!
As a tourist visiting Venice, you MUST VISIT THIS RESTAURANT!!! It is TO DIE FOR. This place is right by the water which is perfect for the views. It gets busy and there's usually a wait but it's honestly so worth it. I had ordered the homemade potato gnocchi with ragu sauce, tomahawk steak and the Lombatello steak for 5 people to share. The pasta was soft and delicate it was delicious. The tomahawk steak wasn't bad but a bit on the rare side. But the Lombatello steak WAS SO GOOD i've eaten so many steaks back in nyc at upscale steakhouses but they don't taste as good as that. It was juicy and chewy and delicious. It was addictive literally. The portions were great amongst 5 people. I most definitely recommend and I will come back when I visit Venice again.
This place is a gem - known to locals but not many tourists, it's a great happy hour spot that also has a few tables where they do an assortment of huge steak plates. You may have to wait for a bit to get a table and they're typically quite busy, so finding a spot especially as a tourist is a challenge at times but it is totally worth the effort! Reasonably priced and very well made steaks!

It was fine, we went and out our name in around 6:30, got glasses of wine and we were seated in 20 minutes or so. The Florentino steak and chateaubriand were delicious, as well as the potatoes.
This place was incredibly. We only found it because our AirBnb was right around the corner and every evening we saw it packed with locals. After going we understood why it was so popular. One, their food was amazing. They had great little crostinis to munch on while waiting for your food or just as a light dinner. They also had a nice wine collection. What's really cool is that they have a small "boat" on the canal in front of their restaurant and you can take your wine and apps and go sit on the canal. Besides the apps, they also had a lots of options off their dine in menu. Their bone-in steak (in the picture) was probably the most expensive thing I order while on my vacation but it was so worth it. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The two of us had a hard time finishing it!

Al Timon was the culinary highlight of my visit to Venice. We went for Sunday lunch-- restaurant was quite busy; there were a few tables inside. Servers were welcoming and answered questions my friend and I had about the menu. The steak platter was AMAZING. 10/10. Truly such a memorable meal. I loved the chips and tzatziki-like sauce that were served alongside the meat. The complimentary limoncello at the end of our meal topped off our incredible experience. Would travel all the way back just for this gem of a spot. Thank you! read more
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Definitely get the Lombatello steak if you are feeling carnivorous. Throngs of lively people sipping wine and snacking on cichetti late into the evening along the canal. The cichetti selection looked very good (variety thinned out throughout the night), but our party of 3 was starving and we opted to sit inside for a late ~8:30pm dinner. We got one order of grilled lamb and the Lombatello steak for 2. The lamb was also good, no gamey taste. The Lombatello steak was simply fantastic, choose this cut specifically!! A heaping pile of medium-rare meat (cannot buy single portions) that was very tender and flavorful. It's cushioned with steak fries and grilled veggies on the side. Paired with two glasses of house wine, this meal was fantastic. Ended up with a to go box of steak and fries. Servers are very busy, bustling around clearing tables, taking orders, etc, but they are vigilant if you need anything. We saw one table of ~10 order a steak platter, and it was a sight to behold - a massive wooden cutting board packed with steak, transported by two waiters. read more

Such a great find in Venice. We walked by one evening and I saw people eating delicious looking steak outside along the canal. After two more days of seafood we were craving some meat and came to find this place was recommended by our tour guide, so we went for dinner. We waited a bit for a table but not too long, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the hangar steak board for two, which was at LEAST enough food for four people! It was delicious, one of our favorite meals in Venice. Eating outside in the vibrant Cannaregio neighborhood made it even better. read more

Wow. The amount of food you get for the price is phenomenal ! We got the florentine steak board and it was the best steak we have ever had in Europe. Lots of locals in the restaurant as well, felt very authentic. read more

The best Florentine steak ever. You order by the gram so we asked to have enough for 4 people. And a side of lamb and 3 deeserts-tiramisu-panna cotta-cheesecake. Everything was delicious. read more

Incredible. We picked out some things at one euro each, got glasses of prosecco sat by the canals and enjoyed. This place is famous for their meat and steak but what we had was still SO good. You can get most things on pieces of bread or polenta, just get one of each alternating on bread and polenta. Service was super friendly and efficient. The prosecco was nice dry and cold, the perfect temp. Prices were very affordable and to just come out, sit by the canal with your food and wine, it's a dream come true. I specifically recommend trying a white fluffy whipped fish thing on polenta, not sure what it's called but my B&B host who's a multi generation true Venetian was impressed we tried it. It was unusual but good! read more

What a wonderful hidden gem. We found this establishment through searches of yelp. After indulging on plenty of pasta we were looking for a meaty restaurant. We are so happy we found it, food, ambiance and cost are all 5 stars! You can tell this restaurant is highly visited by locals which means the cost is veryyyy low in comparison to other restaurants with "come in, pasta served here" at the entrance - which by the way, do avoid. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting Venice. You will not be disappointed. Oh, and while you wait you can stand outside the restaurant or hop on their boat and enjoy wine with the locals! Ha ! read more
Wonderful all the way around. I didn't have high expectations not going to lie - mainly because it was packed and I saw a few other reviews referring to how hard it is to get a table. But the bearded guy didn't disappoint and he did come out after 20 min when we put our name down with him. Service was great and they really worked as a team. We were advised to grab a drink and we did some with some of those sandwiches too. The red wine and Pinot grigio they recommended were on point and really whet the palate. Apps = bread, burrata...with a balsamic reduction and fresh tomatoes. And for entrees, my fiancee got the gnocchetti and meat sauce and myself the lasagna. My God, both see fantastic and melted in your mouth. Super fresh and great presentation as well. Highly recommend!! Hope to come here again in the future when we return as well. read more
Al Timon is a great "local" hangout that wants to be cooler than though, but is merely cool. While not quite "soup Nazi" territory, you'll definitely want to observe a few rules. Best practices: -Make a reservation, even if you're eating 7 pm or earlier. -Don't call the cicchietti tapas (there's a hand-scribbled sign on that score). -Don't argue or be overly fussy. -Be OK with the possibility of loud live music (none when we were here on a Monday night). -Basically, expect a neighborood wine bar with tasty but uncomplicated food and decent value. Observe those rules and you'll have fun here. As I was saying, it definitely has a more local, Canareggian vibe than most wine and tapas bars on the main drags, or even in Canareggio itself. It's not exactly hidden, but it has an air about it that's not exactly unwelcoming to tourists, but not altogether accepting of them. Depending on the server, they'll either be witty and breezy or sarcastic and borderline dismissive. I get it--Al Timon has been discovered, and with all the day tour groups stopping by here for a sampling of cicchetti, the cat is out of the bag. Nevermind all that, it's still a really neat experience. The cicchetti are top notch--point and pick or make it dealer's choice. Order a glass of wine whether or not there's seating (you can sip it outside). The prices are friendly and choices are great. If you snag a table you might eventually get a menu. Don't pay it too much attention--depending on the restaurant's mood (and perhaps the status of the diner), they will either have antipasti or not, and the T-bone steak WILL be pushed hard. I'm sure it's amazing and the how specialty as described, but if you don't want it, DON'T GET IT. This isn't prison, they still have other tasty mains. So I had the spiedini (delicious steak kebabs) with fries after the great plate of tapas. My wife put away her umpteenth helping of gnocchi (yes, they do have non-meat items) and we were happy as clams (which they might actually have on the tapas rotation). read more

After having eaten a lot of great seafood and cichetti already in Venice, we wanted to just have some good ol' hunk of red meat for a meal. Enter Al Timon. It was a busy Friday night but luckily for my wife and I, half of the patrons there were there for drinks. So we got a table almost immediately. You can reserve a table if you call them ahead of time. It was a tough decision but we decided not to get their most popular dish of the massive T-bone steak that comes out in a platter. We figured 1.5 kg 3.3 pounds) of steak was just a bit too much for just the two of us. So instead we ordered the much more manageable single entree orders of the lamb chops and the beef tenderloin that was similar to a filet mignon cut. Both were good. Most importantly, the lamb was too a right temp, and the steak was a perfect medium. Both tender and juicy. We also enjoyed the chip/fry hybrid that came with the dishes. Good quality meat, cooked well, at a fair price. read more

All the meat. And I mean ALL. For what you get price is fantastic. Meat was all prepared perfectly. The best Negroni I have had because they actually measure out a perfect Negroni rather than just free pour. Great service. Great vibe. Cramped tables but part of it. Definitely the place to go when you are craving meat. Going back again tonite. read more
